Aria’s POV:
I tried my best to act normal and ignore the weird things that is happening around us. I don’t want to ruin everything that Dylan worked hard for. He put his best effort to make this date work even if I am just a human and he is a powerful demon. This is my only chance to go out away from the hospital and I want to make the best out of it.
We go to the Crescent River where everybody gathers to release hundreds of floating lanterns onto the river. "These floating lanterns are meant to guide the spirits back to their world," Dylan carefully explains.
As much as I wanted to continue our date, some things can be ignored, so I decided to be honest with him.
"D-Dylan, can we skip this part of the tour?" My voice was thick with fear.
Dylan noticed that I was starting to feel uncomfortable when he saw that I was freezing in terror. My hands were sweaty and clammy. My eyes were gazing at the floor and were too frightened to lift my head. He cupped my face and lifted a little and saw that the color drained from my face.
"Why, is there a problem?" he asks me worriedly.
"The spirits, there are too many of them lurking around this place and I'm scared." Fear clawed up my throat as I speak while looking at the spirits staring at me and wanting to come near me.
They must have sensed something in me that they are all drawn to me and wanted to touch and hurt me.
"You can see them?" he curiously asked me. "I shouldn't bring you here. There are thousands of spirits present in this place. Some spirits feed on the life force of the living so that they can stay longer in this world, they must have found your life force enticing that's why they are all drawn to you," he worriedly explains.
"Yes and I've been trying to ignore them at first but this time, they knew that I can see them and I'm afraid that they...." I was not able to finish my sentence and was in total shock by his action.
He placed his arm around me and looks deep into my eyes. "Nobody can harm you when you're with me. I won't let anybody touch you," he reassures me. "I will protect you no matter what."
"How could he say that he will protect me, does he forget that he will soon take my soul once our contract ended?" I said to myself.
Those kind words sounded so sincere, and it was the sweetest thing he ever said to me on our entire date. I feel my heart beating so fast and my face feels so hot as if it is burning. I wrap my arms around him and press myself onto his chest to hide my tomato-colored face. I can't believe that I'm falling for his flowery words, and I can't let him see that I'm blushing. I'm pretty sure that he will not stop bragging and will tease me for falling into his irresistible charm.
He waved his hand and created a dome-like barrier around us to protect me from the spirits. I was about to let him go by gently releasing my arms around him when he pulled me closer and holds me tightly.
"Stay close to me and don't move a muscle," he warned me. "Let's wait until the floating lantern ceremony is over. All the spirits will vanish along with the floating lantern so please, bear with me and let's stay like this for a little while," he softly speaks.
I said nothing and simply nod my head for confirmation then wrap my arms around him and bury my face in his chest to prevent myself from crying. I've been keeping this secret for as long as I could remember and for the very first time, I was able to share it with someone who could protect me from the spirits that I feared the most.
Some vengeful spirits are desperately trying to penetrate the barrier that Dylan created, but they drastically failed. Blue flames crawl upon the spirits as soon as they touch the barrier.
"I know that they were supposed to feel nothing since they are already dead but why do they look as if they were screaming from the excruciating pain?" I curiously ask while looking at the spirits squirming in pain.
"The dome-like barrier is what we called the cleansing fire. It helps to purify the vengeful spirits," he explains to me while we watch the spirits vanish before our eyes. "They will now go to purgatory not to repent, but for them to continue the cleansing and purification of souls. Some souls are destined to go to heaven."
After a few minutes, all of the spirits slowly vanish into the thin air. The place once again looks quiet and peaceful. There are no more vengeful spirits around us and Dylan lifted the barrier that was surrounding us.
"Thank you," I said to him then gently remove my arms around his waist.
"How long have you been seeing the spirits?" he curiously asks me.
"Ever since I was a child," I quickly replied.
"Did you try telling it to anybody?"
"Yes, but they just laugh at me and call me crazy," I sadly said along with an audible sigh.
He places his hand and lightly pats my head. "It must have been tough?"
"You have no idea," I said to him. "It took me a while to get used to it, but it's okay now." I force myself a fake smile.
"You may think that your ability is a curse but it can also be a gift to help out the spirits to settle their unfinished business," he tries to comfort me by looking into the positive side of my situation.
I was touched by his comforting words and never thought that he is capable of being serious and saying kind words to others. I thought that is he full of mischievous thoughts. I like this side of Dylan it's more human.
"I wonder how he ended up being Djinn. I feel bad for him for being trapped, how I wish I could do something to help him," I was thinking about it when an idea pops out in my head.
"Missy, you've been spacing out again. Are you okay?"
"I have an idea!" I excitedly said to him.
"Are you okay? You're acting weird all of a sudden," he worriedly said to me.
"What if I wish for your freedom, will it work?" I happily suggested it to him.
I was expecting him to be happy to know that there was a chance for him to get his freedom but all I can see was sadness in his eyes. He was staring at me for a few minutes motionless and passive. I don't understand why he doesn't feel happy, and he looks as if he is having a feeling of guilt and remorse.
"You are going to sacrifice your wish for my freedom?" He looks shocked and could not believe what I just told him.
"Yes. Why not?" I confidently replied.
"Aria, even if you gave me my freedom someone will take over my post and still take your soul," he worriedly said to me.
"My soul will be taken away from me one way or another, why not do something good and unselfish act for once?" I said to him.
"Your soul for my freedom," he whispered. "Why does it have to be you, Aria?"
After saying those words, he leans closer to me and sealed me with a kiss. His fingers trailed across my face, and then he gradually licks my upper lip and sucked it to gently pry my lips apart. It’s like he is begging for an entrance to slip his tongue inside me as we intensify our kiss. I couldn't help but release a gentle moan while we continue to kiss.
I can feel his energy spreading all over my body like there are hormonal changes or chemical reactions in my brain. The temptation is too hard to resist like a magnetic attraction that is so hard to repel. I want more and I'm hungry for more. I pulled him close to me then we start kissing like crazy, devouring each other as I cling to him while he wraps his arms around me pulling my body close to him.
The deeper we kiss the more powerful I feel like I'm totally in control until I felt that he is slowly losing all of his energy as if it were sucked out of his body.
"Am I doing this to him?" I ask myself.
I tried to part my lips and let go of our kiss to check up on him and as soon as we ended our kiss, he drops down on his knees. He stared at me while we are both catching our breath. He looks weak and lifeless.
"I can't breathe," he said in a trembling voice.
"Dylan, what happened?" I worriedly ask him. "Am I responsible for this?" I burst out into tears.
He is experiencing excruciating pain. I feel so helpless and worthless. I don't know what to do. I wanted to touch him, but I'm afraid that it will worsen his current condition. All I can do is watch him suffer and cry my heart out. Even if I call out for help, nobody can do anything about it since he is a spirit and not a human that we can bring to the hospital for treatment.
"It h-hurts," he stuttered.
"Dylan, I'm so sorry," I depressingly said. I get down on my knees and hold him close to me. "Please, Dylan, don't die on me," I begged him.
I shut my eyes close and keep calling out his name until I notice that I am no longer in the Festival but back in my room once again.
"What is going on with me?" I ask myself. "What am I?" Doubts and uncertainty started to cloud my thoughts.
Just when I met someone who can truly understand me and can relate to my situation, then this thing happens. I was so happy to be with someone who can protect me only to find out that it was only temporary. I can never forgive myself if he will be gone because of me. Is my ability a gift or I am destined to be cursed?
Aria's POV:"Dylan, no!"That was the last thing I said before I realized that I was back in the hospital room. I was down on my knees on the floor, and my eyes were filled with tears. My heart was uneasy pounding too fast and about to jump out of my chest. I'm certain that Dylan is unconscious almost gone before I returned to my room. Is it because his energy becomes weak and used his last strain of power to transport me back here? Even my clothes were back to normal as if everything was just a dream.I don't understand what's going on and how his power works but I know that he is in pain and badly hurt. I wiped my tears dry, get on my knees and look outside the window hoping to see him, but he is nowhere in sight."Dylan, where are you? Please be safe," I whispered. The tears once again fall from my eyes.I was startled when the door opened then Clarren shows up in a hurry and panting."Aria, I heard you screaming. Are you hurt?" he panicky said to me while scanning every inch of my
Aria's POV: "Clarren..." My lower lip trembled and keeps swallowing excessively as I have no excuse to say about the massive hole in the wall. "Shall I tell him the truth, but what if he can't handle the truth?" I said to myself. I hold my silence while thinking about what to say to him. We both froze staring at each other until he finally breaks the ice. "Tell me Aria, when did you become stronger? I want to know everything," he seriously said to me. Judging from his reaction and the way he glanced at me. He doesn't look surprised at all as if he knew what I was capable of doing. "Does he know who I am?" Questions keep popping into my head. "Clarren, did you know something about the barrier surrounding the center?" I curiously ask him. I wanted to find out whether he has something to do with the barriers and he has information about me that I don't know. He walks closer to the wall and looks in the direction where my finger is pointing to. "You can see the cleansing fire barrier
Dylan's POV: I was crawling my way back to my fortress and used my remaining energy to send Aria back to the medical center. The pain all over my body is excruciating as if my flesh was being ripped off, my limbs are being torn apart and the burning sensation is too agonizing as if my body is being burnt from the inside out. Aside from that, I'm having shortness and difficulty of breathing that never happened before because not only that I am a Supreme Being, but I am also a spirit and should no longer experience this kind of pain. I was lucky that I made it in the nick of time hoping that my spirit vessel would be rejuvenated since I was in my fortress."What is going on with me? First, I experience having sensations and feelings that I never felt before, now my senses are more sensitive and my body is experiencing pain as if I'm turning into a mortal. What is she and how did she do it?"I lay down on my bed and rested. Days had passed and my vessel is not healing. I haven't regaine
Dylan’s POV:I saw people closing their windows and doors as they don't want to get involved. I can tell that they will be happy if those men catch up to me for everybody hates me. I tried my best to run faster, but one of the men was able to catch up and quickly jumped on me. We both fell to the ground with my face down. My head hit hard on the solid rock and I instantly felt light-headed. The blood from my head runs down my face. The rest of the men catch up on us and surround me while I am trying to scan them one by one hoping to recognize their faces. Unfortunately, I was not able to see them clearly with my eyes all covered with blood. They start to beat the hell out of me while I am still down on the ground. They continue beating me up until all of their hands were covered with blood, theirs and mine. I got so weak. My face and body were in total pain that I can barely move. They don't stop even for a minute to take a quick rest. They just keep on beating me without any remorse
Dylan's POV: "Don't send Shithead to the valley he will only bring disaster to the innocent civilians and it's going to be chaotic!" I panicky said to the Demon King."That's the main objective, moron!" I felt a jolt of anger in his tone. He glared at me, and I see the hell of fire burning from his blazing red eyes. "When did you start caring about innocent lives? Don't tell me you're getting soft on them. It's unlikely of you to show compassion to others." His brows drew together and started to doubt me."I'm not, but what you're doing is a declaration of war on heaven," I carefully explain to him."We are at war the moment that the thing inside her awakened, we cannot just sit here and wait," he seriously said to me.He leans over to me and touches my head. I can feel a strong volt of electricity running through my spiritual vessel, giving me unimaginable power. My body is fully charged with a massive thunderbolt of lightning energy roaring in every inch of my being. This power is
Dylan’s POV:I was about to hit him back when I heard Aria's voice."Dylan, stop!"We both stop when we heard her call out my name. Both of us look at Aria's location."He is Dylan?" The guy confusedly asks her."You guys were talking about me?" I'm a bit excited and thrilled to know that she talked about me to somebody. "Is she really into me? I mean who can't resist this devilish charm?" I said to myself."It's not what you think," Aria immediately replied giving me a deadpan stare."Why are you all tied up?"I rush over to her bedside and unchained her hands and feet. The unknown man was about to stop me, but I pushed him away by waving my hand toward him using my dark force energy. He slammed and hit his back on the concrete wall leaving a massive crack in the wall.He stood up unharmed as if nothing happened and when he was about to fight back, Aria went in front of me making herself my human shield."Please, stop fighting," she begged us."You don't have to protect me, Missy, I
Dylan's POV:"I'm a demon?!" she hysterically said. She's been pacing back and forth for the past thirty minutes as she keeps on whining about her becoming a demon."We can't say that for sure," I calmly said. "Try to stay calm and we'll figure this out." I comfort her."How can I stay calm? It's not some simple illness that I can't just take medicine to cure or cancer that requires an operation to remove it. There is a demon inside me and we don't even have the slightest idea how did it get in here in the first place."She's right. Her case is not something we can take lightly. Who knows what kind of effect the demon inside will cause her? Not only does it give her super-strength and powers but also changes her physical appearance maybe soon her attitude as well. For now, she can control that thing inside her, but for how long?"Let's worry about that later, for now, we need to get out of here," I worriedly said to her. "When I used my powers to teleport us here, demons may already t
Dylan's POV:"Furball is that you?" I surprisingly said while looking at the huge lycanthrope in front of us."My name is Cerberus, you scumbag!" he clarifies to me while clenching his fist and gritting his teeth. To be honest, I know his name. I just had this hobby of giving names to low-life creatures like him."Is that a werewolf?" Her voice was thick with fear, and her body went cold with dread."Yep, that's a werewolf but he's acting more like a puppy. I told you not to be afraid, missy. I won't let anything bad happen to you." I winked at her and gave her a reassuring smile.I don't want Aria to worry, so I acted tough to show her that I am still in control of the situation. He may look big and ferocious, but his brain is the same size as a pea. His muscle must have gotten into his brain that he is all strength and at the same time, brain-dead. "No fucking way!" He is also surprised as I am judging from the shocked look on his face. His jaw almost fell from the ground and his e
Dylan's POV:The ray of light was beaming through the small window. I can feel the warmth of the sun and slowly open up my eyes. My body was sore and stiff when I tried to move. My head is heavy, and my vision is fuzzy trying to see where exactly am I."Dylan, you are finally awake."I heard a familiar voice and when my vision started to get clear, it is confirmed that it was no other than Freya who is standing in front of me and looking down at me."Where am I?" I asked her feeling confused and disoriented. "Where is everybody?" I force myself to stand and sat on the bed. "Where is Aria?"I look around me trying to find a familiar face. I realized that we were back in the fortress of Silent Willow forest."Dylan, you need to stay calm. You have sustained severe injuries in your body, and you need to get more rest," Freya tries to change the
Aria's POV:I regain consciousness and found myself lying on the marble pedestal in the middle of nowhere. I noticed that all of my clothes were gone, but I didn't feel cold. There's a lush warm sensation within me. There is no pain in my body and no wounds or scar. I feel light as a feather and no heavy feeling or burden is weighing on me. I never thought that I was going to experience this euphoric feeling and tranquillity in my life. There is a rainbow of emotions at my disposal and yet, why do I still feel empty?"Am I dead?"That's the first thing that comes to my head. I don't feel threatened or worried and sense no harm. I get up, sat down on the pedestal, and look around me to see my surroundings all I can see was a bright light of infinite nothingness."Where am I?" I whispered to myself.I walk around trying to figure out what is going
Dylan's POV:Death is inevitable. I heard those words from Aria when we first met and trick her into making her first wish. We will all die anyway. She said it without a flinch. Aria is not afraid to die at that very moment because she felt that she has no reason to live and it is easier to accept death. Knowing that there's nothing to leave behind. That was before we found love. Now we are all gathered here on this battlefield fighting for our lives because we wanted to live. Ironic isn't it? There are moments like this when I wanted to give up and give in. Surrender to the darkness because there's nowhere to go. I feel trapped and lost with no hopes left in me, but when I think of Aria. No matter how difficult the situation is, I just can't let go of the possibility that one day we can be together living a normal and peaceful life. That small chance, a glimpse of hope, and the possibility are giving me enough strength and
Dylan's POV:"Dylan, wake up!"The agonizing pain in my head awakened my sore body. The stench of a thousand burning corpses fumes all over the place. My lungs were congested with thick smoke from the fire giving me non-stop coughing and difficulty of breathing."Dylan, wake up!"I heard it again. Someone is calling my name. "Where am I?" I confusedly said to myself. "Am I dreaming?" Still confused about what is going on with my surroundings and me."Geez, he lost it. Try to shake him or something." I heard another voice talking to the one who is calling out my name.My vision was still hazy trying to figure out what had happened. I tried to get up and look around me, then I saw Emann rubbing a piece of cloth on my forehead."Your head is bleeding try not to move too much," she softly said to me wh
Dylan's POV:This is it. The beginning of the end and the war will lead to the downfall of the Kingdom of Hell. I should feel excited that finally, it would be over, but I can't deny that my feelings are somehow divided. I am afraid and feared for the safety of Aria and the rest of the squad who will fight against the most powerful demon. There is thunder roaring like a beast outside the fortress. We are all startled upon hearing the eerie sound and decided to take a peak from the small opening of the fortress to see what is going on outside. We saw a huge thick red cloud from where the thunder came from, heading to our location. Unlike the dark cloud already covering the entire third stage of hell, this one brings acid rain, which is as red as human blood, and very destructive lighting that annihilates everything it touches. The cloud and storm are just a diversion. We are pretty sure that demon soldier
Dylan's POV:A great philosopher once said that if you want to succeed in life then your desire for success must be greater than anything else. There is no room for failure. I may be turning back into a human being, but I am still a demon and I will do anything in my power to get Aria's wing no matter the odds. Even if it means I have to return to my old ruthless self again.I let Aria, and the others go outside the cave for I don't want her to see the monster in me. I love her and I am afraid that she will resent me if she witnesses my true nature. It took me almost an hour before I finally reached the exit of the cave and everybody is waiting patiently for me to come out of the cave.As expected, there are all busy fighting the orcs. They are doing their best to hold their ground while I was busy negotiating with the Queen of the Damned."What took you so long?
Dylan's POV:"Yes," Aria's quick response to my proposal. "Yes, I will marry you, Dylan Lockey!" she repeats her answer will all sincerity and a rainbow of emotions at her disposal.Everyone releases an audible sigh and forcibly claps their hands to show support for our engagement. They don't want to ruin the moment, so nobody said anything to contradict the happy scene.I stood up and inserted the ring on the fourth finger of Aria's left hand and just now realized that it was no ordinary ring. The size is adjusted to the finger of the owner of the ring and the color of the gemstone changes depending on Aria's mood. Aria looks very impressed with her ring. I can see the wide smile on her face and the sparkling look in her eyes."Do you like it?" I asked her even though I already knew the answer, it is still good to hear her say those words."I love it," she quick
Dylan’s POV:We are busy testing the powers of the silver fox when a group of angel soldiers arrived on the scene. One of them is dressed differently from the rest of the military troops and from what I can tell, he possesses the highest rank in the military. His armor is gold-plated, unlike the others who wore silver armor. He carries badges that are pinned on his armor which stated his achievements from the previous wars. He wore a crimson red robe that I think serves no purpose but he did look so damn cool with it as if he is really in authority and has the power to control the situation. His wings are equipped with titanium blades with magical spells on them. The spell appears to be a demon-cleansing spell similar to the spell that was engraved on all of their weapons. Weak types of demons are vulnerable to this kind of weapon. They don't have enough power to deflect the effect of the spells. H
Dylan's POV:Despite our best effort to control the situation in the Southern Hemisphere, the demons are getting closer to the barrier, and more human lives are becoming casualties of war. Night and day the phoenix couple has stayed up on guard to ensure that nobody else gets hurt.Over the years, demons have learned how to disguise themselves, walk and live amongst humans. They have increased in number and are smarter than ever. Like me, they have learned how to hide their powers so that demons and angels cannot detect them. Hiro, Emann, and I were in charge of evacuating the humans and taking them to a safe place. We find it hard to identify the demons and the humans for they all look the same."Hiro, check everyone before you take them to the safe house. We can't afford to let a demon in the headquarters," I reminded him."I can't detect which one is the demon and which one is hum
