14. A Kiss of Bliss

Beta Adrian briefly pulled away from me, prompting a stab of hurt to cut through my guts. I instantly lowered my gaze to meet the floor. My heart sank and I thought of something plausible to say, just so I could avert the awkwardness and tension between us.
