The other woman laughed. “How high you think of yourself, you rogue! You think you can defeat Hera in a duel? I guess you don’t know that she’s the Luna of Blue Faction pack. If you are thinking that you have a chance on winning against her, then you are a complete lunatic!”
The men on her sides nodded, agreeing on her. I couldn’t share the same sentiment, though.
“Hera, you shouldn’t waste your time on a pathetic girl like her. Why don’t you let me take care of this?”
Hera nodded. I scoffed and shook my head a bit when the other girl stepped forward. She’s as tall and slender than me but I know she’s a little older.
My eyes drifted down to what she’s holding. A whip. I raised my eyebrow at her.
“I didn’t know people in the city likes to bring toys in the battlefield.”
“You! How dare you look down on my precious whip! I will give you a lesson!”
She sauntered, very eager to lash her whip on me. But before it could hit me, I caught the end of it and pulled hard that made her lose her balance. I turned and wrapped the whip around my body so I can get close to her. I then kicked her stomach hard that threw her away.
I tore the whip and threw it. “Poor stance. Poor stamina. Let me ask you, what were you doing all this time? You should practice your martial arts harder instead of putting those unnecessary colors in your face.”
I was raised by Grandpa to be fair and value kindness at all times, but he also kept on reminding to not tolerate bullies and give them what they deserve.
“You—”
“Enough, Aria,” the woman named Hera said.
So, the weak girl is Aria. She actually has a nice and very feminine name. It doesn’t suit her.
“Who are you?” Hera asked.
“Nadia Luther,” I said with pride. Why would I be afraid to tell my name, anyway. In fact, it is better that they would know that someone as righteous as me exists.
“Doesn’t ring a bell. Sounds irrelevant,” the old man with a white fan butt in.
“Your face looks irrelevant either,” I countered. I have respect to the elders, alright. But in this case, I know that they are at the wrong side. I can’t tolerate such inhumane act. And to think that they are all from elite packs in the city. They should be the role model, but what are they doing?
“Disrespectful!” says the old man.
“Now, who else wants to fight me? Bring it on.” I faced them head-on. If there is one thing I’m afraid of, that is Grandpa’s beating. Other things don’t scare me.
“Arrogant,” Hera said and fluidly leaped on the air. When she landed on the ground a couple of yards away from me, she’s already shifted into her wolf form.
Feisty.
I cocked my head and looked at the boy at my back. He looked at me but I sensed his hesitation. His face was covered with his messy dark ocher hair, but I saw his eyes.
Daylight.
That was the first thing that came into my mind the moment I saw his eyes. Those were two pools of amber that looked so brilliant and warm. I feel a little weird. It was as if I was struck by something I couldn’t fathom.
“Don’t worry, everything will be alright. Stay back and wait for me to get this done,” I assured him with a smile before I faced the feisty woman.
A ripping sound escaped my throat. In just a matter of seconds, I am already in my wolf form. It’s a pity, though. My clothes were torn and I don’t know where to get another one in the middle of the city. I guess I have to run back to the mountain later on.
I positioned myself, waiting for my dearest enemy to make the first move. I growled at her in a mocking way. If she thinks that I am afraid of her just because she’s the Luna of whatever that pack is, then she is a big fool.
She attacked first. The attack was an aggressive one but she still managed to make it look graceful. Hmm… not bad.
I didn’t return the attacks at first and just kept on dodging. It is to study her way of fighting. In just a small span of time, I was able to read her moves and calculated it precisely. She’s not bad, but she’s not that good either. She has a good stamina but has a weak body. I’m sure with just three blows from me, she won’t be able to stand for three days. I don’t want to hurt women. It’s against the principles Grandpa taught me, but I guess this one is an exception, right?
“Why are you keep on dodging, rogue? Hah! Let me guess, you are chickening out, are you?” I heard the annoying high-pitched voice of that girl again. Let me recall her name. Is it Aria? I admit she’s kind of pretty. Such a waste.
I growled and did my first attack. I should get serious and get this done soon. I am getting hungry.
Hera was thrown away. I was surprised. I thought she can still hold her ground on my first blow at least. I didn’t even exert so much force on that attack. I hissed inwardly. Such a weakling.
Aria’s face turned sour. “Hera!”
Hera stood immediately even though I’m sure that her left shoulder hurts like hell. It’s obvious on her stance. I’ve never been in a real fight before this, I had only practiced with Grandpa, but maybe my keen eyes are gift to me. I can easily spot the abnormalities of the things around me.
She attacked me again, aggressively and impatiently. She even attempted to wound my face with her sharp claws but I was faster and stronger, it wasn’t hard for me to turn the tables.
She was thrown further than where she was thrown the last time when I hit her stomach and neck. I had even scratched her injured shoulder. Those other leaders with her hurried at her side when she growled in so much pain.
I didn’t waste time. While they were all busy, I took the opportunity to run away with the boy. I carried him at my back and ran towards the mountains.
Four years after the incident in North Ridge Mountain…“Are you sure you are doing this, Nadia?” After watching me prepare my things, Evan couldn’t stop himself. His eyes were weary as if he was very sure that what I am about to do would cost my life.Evan was the one who saved me from the sacred cave of North Ridge four years ago. I found out he was Grandpa’s trusted disciple back when my mother was still alive. I fell ill because a curse was casted upon me when I coveted the sacred necklace. As to why I was cursed, Evan explained that the Necklace of Divinity is a sacred thing and only a person who has pure heart can be its owner. He said I had evil plans that’s why it cursed me.He lived far south, far away from all the packs including mine, that’s why for the past years, I had no idea what was happening in the city. Now that Evan has successfully lifted the curse that caged me in this mountain for years, I
Meanwhile in the parallel universe...Eve's POVMy head was aching badly when I opened my eyes. I knew at once that I was in a grand unfamiliar room I've never visited before. A golden chandelier was hanging above and the intricate details of the furnitures and every corner reminded me of the Victorian style. But even though it looked classic, it also has a bit of modern touches.Sure, it was a good place to sleep in, but where was this place exactly? As I rose slowly in a sitting position, the double doors of the room opened. A man in an all black attire went in. He was wearing a black turtleneck, black slacks and black overcoat. One look and I knew he was close to my age. A few years older than me at least. He was tall, lean and his chest was broad. He looked strong. My gaze then climbed to his face and found a pair of raven brooding eyes. His features were marked with hardness, especially his angular jaw that br
What did he say? Did I hear him right? As if he was able to read the question in my face, he said, "You heard me right, Eve. Your mother, Doris Walters, and your father, George Delluci, are dead. It was reported as murder and still under investigation, but I'm sure it was Vienna's doings.""No…" I shook my head. "That's not true! That is… impossible!""If you are still not convinced, see it for yourself," he said flatly as he pointed the bedside table with a nod.I turned to the table and saw what he was pointing out. I moved once, very swiftly, that it barely took a fraction of second. It was newspapers. One was from Lynnwood, the other was from Dad's city.I froze when I saw the headlines of both newspapers. I felt something within me, something like scorching. I could feel the venom at the tip of my teeth, and the urge to destroy everything.I stood and the next second, I was
"What are you talking about?” I asked Landon, my voice low but firm.I was about to turn and face him when he went in front of me himself. He towered over me, eyes were dark and vicious looking straight into mine as if he wanted to look into my soul through it. I don’t mind if he could. I don’t care about anything else now. All I want is vengeance and I’m willing to do whatever it takes just to have that.“You heard me right, Eve. You have had vampire blood in you ever since you were born.”“How is that possible? My parents, I was sure they were humans and they haven’t mentioned anything unnatural… and I never felt strange before.”“You are not a pure-blooded vampire, only a fraction of your blood contains vampire blood. That's why you managed to live for all those years like a normal human being. But the truth is, it was only suppressed and waitin
“He is Henry, my most trusted person,” Landon introduced me to Henry. After we had made a deal to get what we both want, he decided to introduce me to his people first.I figured that his house here in Manchester looked like an ancient luxury manor, it can even pass as a Victorian palace. He also had a lot of househelps that were obviously vampires. Of course why would he get human househelps. That would only make a problem because of the kind of lifestyle he’s living in.He only introduced me to few people. Henry, his right hand, butler and all around assistant. Beatrice, the head of the househelps in the manor and is ranked the second after Henry. Her name really sound old fashioned, and trust me, she really is. She wasn’t the sexy type of female subordinate in movies that becomes the rival of the female lead in movies. Actually, I can’t guess her vampire age, but in human age, probably she’s around late forties. But in spite of th
Now I think I get how Landon was able to solve the problem. Of course he is very influential. Having a mall exclusively opened for him is not hard. I don’t even think he had to use supernatural abilities to do this, his money is probably enough. I knew the Rellis were rich, but I guess Landon is ‘filthy’ rich and he doesn’t mind to show it.“Go pick everything you want,” Landon said.“Is this mall yours, perhaps?” I didn’t sound so serious that was why when he answered, I was surprised.“It is.”“Wait. Are you serious?”His brow raised. “Do I look like I’m joking?”I cleared my throat and stepped back a bit. “I’ll go look around.”I walked away from him to go inside the boutiques and I thought he would just stay right where he was when I noticed him stalking me. I stopped to look at him. He asked, “What?”
"I am Lily, Miss Eve. I will assist you in dressing up and in doing your hair," the woman in uniform who went in my room. She was tall, a little taller than me, blonde, white and beautiful. There's no doubt that she is a vampire."Thank you."It is the day of the wedding. I look into the mirror with me wearing the grand wedding gown I had chosen. Not that I want something grand to wear in marrying someone I don't love, but the thing is, all of those dresses that Landon prepared for me were all grand—not just grand, but very grand. But even if I don't want any of those, I have no choice but to pick one, so we can go on with the wedding part and get done with it.The one I had chosen is perfectly fit to my body. It is very intricate and has crystals all over the bodice. My hair was done in updo with few tendrils intentionally left in front for the classic style. My make up was done smoothly and perfectly
The cermony started shortly and I tried to look any other bride as much as possible. Though if the audience have very observant eyes, I think they would notice that I am a little weird or that Landon and I are a little indifferent to each other. But well, I think there is just a small percentage that they would think something is wrong with Landon because he is kind of a good actor. He even kissed my hand when he reached out for me as we both faced the vampire who would wed us.I didn't feel anything when Landon did that for the sake of our pretend relationship. It's just, I got irritated on myself for imagining someone else's face. I really hope that I would soon forget all the worthless emotions and remnants of the past. Who knows Carter is also in somewhere, having his happy ever after with his new found mate? To be honest, I hate how Carter made me believe and feel that I was the woman destined for him, that we are destined for each other. I hate how he made me feel that
