We ran quickly across the field, past the building and towards where the bar was set up. Out of the corner of my eye I could see three wolves sprinting out of the woods towards the shouting. I thought briefly of shifting myself but stopped as I knew if I did my clothes would be rags afterwards. Soon the scene came into focus, two large men were fighting. The strong smell of alcohol filled the air. To the side, the bartender stood shouting while a familiar young woman was crying behind him. I forced myself to run faster but no matter what I did I couldn’t catch up to Samantha. Her aura projecting out, strong, angry.

“HEY FUCKWADS!!!” She screamed as she hurled the empty basket slapping one of the men in the back of the head. While he was momentarily distracted the other man took the opportunity to sucker punch him to the ground. He wasn’t paying attention though, as Sam closed the gap quickly and punched him square in his chest knocking him back a few yards and causing him to land on his ass, eyes wide. “STAY THERE!!!” She commanded, as she glared at both of the drunk fighters, her alpha tone blasting out. I came to a stop behind her, also glaring at the scene before us. The three guards trotted over, now shifted back and I couldn’t help but notice they were back in their brown uniforms already. Damn they dressed quickly.

“Alpha Sam,” the bartender spoke, “thank goodness.” I looked over in his direction and I see the female behind him. I recognize her finally, Kimmie, a young wolf from my old pack. Her hair looks disheveled and her clothes messy. My breath catches in my chest, what happened here? She finally looks at me and smiles, her eyes are wide and I walk over to make sure she isn’t hurt. One of the pack guards join us as the bartender walks to Samantha and they begin talking in hushed tones. I can still feel the anger radiating from Samantha, and it's causing my mood to go sour as well.

“Ben, sir.” Kimmie speaks. “I’m so glad you are here.” She grabbed my forearm. What happened to her? I look over at Samantha who is now talking to the one who was nailed with the basket. I could feel she was using her commands again, and the wolf on the ground was speaking adamantly, using his hands and pointing desperately at the other wolf, then again to Kimmie then finally to the bartender. Samantha glances our way and anger and annoyance flash across her features as our eyes lock.

She motions towards the guard closest to her. She speaks to him quietly and points to the accused on the ground. She then turns to the bartender and together they walk to the other wolf. Kimmie starts talking again, her sentences not really making sense. They are coming out broken, her voice trembling. But there are some key words I catch and my temper flares again. “Grabbed. Kissed. Forced.” At this point I’m not sure what else needs to be said, Sam is now talking to the other wolf. His head is down, in shame no doubt. As it should be. He looks up at her pleading, apologetic. The bartender again speaks, and I can see Sam squat down so she is now eye level with the creep, I can feel another wave of commands come out as well as a flash of anger. The creep is now looking at her pleadingly, and I’m shocked as I can see tears running down his cheeks. My temper is becoming short, I’m almost certain now what happened and my mate is over there talking to him. He is way too close to her and all I want to do is run over there and pull her away. After what seems like an eternity, but probably only five minutes she stands and walks towards us with the bartender in tow. The last guard standing over the creep.

“State your name and pack.” She commands of Kimmie.

“Um, Kimmie Flyer, from the Black Hill pack.” She stammers out, her hands grip my arm again; she is clearly scared.

“Tell me what happened.”

“Um, well, I was minding my own business walking to my room and he” she pointed to the creep “grabbed me, he forced himself on me....kissed me....and then he…he…pulled up my skirt….tried to force me to….I broke free and ran. I got lost, was crying. He....” she pointed at the other wolf “found me and he was comforting me, we were walking back to his room and I saw him again.” Her voice was trembling. “I freaked out, and then they started fighting!”

“Huh.” Samantha said. “That's not what I gathered. See, their stories both match. But yours doesn’t.” She glances quickly at my arm then back to me then back to the bartender. “Want to try again?” She asked, quietly. "And don't lie to me this time."

“But....but it’s the truth!” Kimmie said, a little too loudly, her scared meek voice is gone. It's replaced by a slightly indignant tone. Something is starting to seem fishy. The bartender had a knowing smirk. Wait a minute, I think I remember seeing her and the creep earlier...I was too focused on my own problems to really pay much attention but I think I remember them downing drinks and laughing.

Samantha looked a little more irritated, her bright green eyes were all but gone, replaced by an icy cold silver. Only a few flecks of green remained, I looked on in awe, my logical mind was telling me I should be terrified, her aura kicking out wildly and dangerously, but somehow, I knew she wouldn’t hurt me. A low growl came from her way as she continued to glare at Kimmie. “TELL ME THE TRUTH! NOW!!!” She commanded, forcing me back on my heels and Kimmie backed away a few steps as she let go of my arm. She tried to retreat behind me but Sam pushed past me, effectively placing herself between Kimmie and me. “And stop hiding behind him! My MATE will not save you from me!!!”

Kimmie’s eyes went wide. I was almost afraid for her, almost. “I.....I.....” I could tell she wasn’t trying to say anything, but Sam’s alpha command was strong. Stronger than even my dad’s. “All I wanted was to have some fun!” She exclaimed, her eyes watering. “My mate is not here, but he was so damn sexy!” She pointed to the wolf I had mistakenly called a creep. “We were fooling around all night! But when I wanted to go to the room...to finish what we started...he backed out!!!”

“So, when he refused to bed you you wanted revenge?” I surprised even myself as I spoke my thoughts. I earned a side glance from Samantha, I’m sure she was thinking the same thing.

“Continue.” Another command, not as strong but still had power.

“Well, I was pissed but you know, other fish in the sea! He was interested!!” She motioned to the other guy. “We started making out but then he stopped and wanted to know why I had another guy’s scent on me. I figured he wouldn’t follow through either so I told him...I told him.....” Kimmie stuttered, she knew her next words were about to reveal her true colors.

“That's enough, I figured it out. I just wanted you to admit it.” Samantha said softly. “You are lucky I have enough respect for your alpha to not wake him up to deal with your shit.”

“He won’t do anything to me, he likes me!” Kimmie smirked.

This time I sent out my own growl of displeasure, “Just because you are friends with Lily doesn’t mean you are above punishment!” I say harsher than I had planned. I meant what I said, it just came out in a bad tone.

“Huh, whatever.”  Again with the snarky attitude. “I’ll do what I want! And I don’t give a shit what anyone says! Even you!”

Samantha’s aura started to rise again, and I couldn’t help but notice the bartender and the three guards starting to look tense. I see one of the guard’s eyes glaze over as he is mind linking someone. But who?

“You dare....” Samantha started, her shoulders start to shake. “disrespect me.....” her voice is getting rougher, huskier, “ON MY OWN TERRITORY?!?!” Her hair began to shimmer, turning from a chestnut brown to a silvery white. My father’s words came back in full force.

Do not show any disrespect.  The alpha is powerful. A really bad temper.

I can’t see her face anymore but I could tell she was starting to shift. Kimmie’s face looked scared, finally realizing how screwed she was.

“Alpha wait, calm down” The nearest guard said as he tried to position himself between Kimmie and Sam. “Beta Violet is coming, please relax.”

I don’t know what was happening, finally my dad’s words combined with the rumors of the alpha of the SilverFang pack were starting to click in my mind.

Kimmie was going to meet the Demon of the SilverFang pack.

My body reacted on its own, I reached out and pulled Samantha towards me, the sparks were strong, electric, and hopefully calming. A massive growl roared from my mate as I laid my head on her shoulder. I wrapped my arms around her and held on as hard as I could. Whispering calmly in her ear, I could slowly feel her relax. Her brunette hair slowly returned, and her murderous aura finally gone. She turned her head and her eyes finally showed some green as she looked at me bewildered.

Just then a huge dark brown wolf bounded into the field where we were, its giant lavender eyes looking around wildly before exhaling and shaking its head. Is this....Beta Violet? Her wolf was bigger than any she-wolf I have seen before, not only was she tall, she was long and slim. Definitely built for speed and agility. She walked over to us and sat at Samantha’s feet, clearly trying to calm her down also.

“Ya’ll can back off now, I’m good.” Samantha finally said, her eyes only reflecting small silver slivers. She shot a glance at the three guards who were more relaxed, “Take Tweedledee and Tweedledum to their rooms, if they leave again before they are sober, they are no longer welcome here.” She glared at Kimmie, who was still terrified. “Take her.” She spat. “To the nicest cell we have. She can remain there until her alpha comes for her. She will never be welcome here again after tonight.” She looked at me, “Could you text your dad and let him know what happened? He should know what his pack members are trying to get away with in his absence.” She looked to Violet who was still in wolf form. “Reschedule our meeting to 11am, I clearly need more than a couple hours of sleep. Try to push back as many meetings as you can.”

The wolf nodded, and yawned herself, it seems we are all tired and worn down. I nod in thanks to the bartender as we start to walk away, he flashes me a knowing smile and goes about helping the guards with Kimmie.

We start walking, again. I’m walking slightly behind Samantha who doesn’t seem to notice or mind. I hear the tell-tale sounds of bones shifting behind me which tell me Violet is changing back. I make sure to keep my back turned to give her as much privacy as I can. After a few minutes of walking in silence I’m suddenly grabbed by my arm and spun around to a flustered Violet, her eyes still holding a lavender hue. I gulp internally. For some reason this girl scares me. “What happened back there?” She spoke in a hushed tone. She is also dressed in the same outfit as everyone else.

I look back to Samantha who hasn’t noticed we have stopped walking and is heading further away towards the packhouse. “I don’t know, we happened upon a fight and Samantha broke it up...”

“Not that, I know all that, the pack guards filled me in on the way there. What I want to know is how she got so pissed she almost lost control like that! She usually contains herself better than that.” Violet squeezes the bridge of her nose. “That was too close, that girl was about to get herself killed.”

“Well, she did speak very rudely, and she tried to accuse another wolf of taking advantage of her.”

“No, it has to be more than that,” Violet mused. “Wait a minute....why do you have her scent on you?” Violet’s eyes narrowed.

“Oh, well when it all started, she was acting scared and grabbed my arm. Then she tried to hide behind me and....”

“Are you stupid?!” Violet raged, it caught Samantha’s attention who stopped and turned to look back at us curiously. Her eyes were shifting slightly. “What would you have done if one or both of those guys were hanging all over her...and she was allowing it?!” Violet continued.

“Uh probably tried to rip their arms off?” I answer truthfully. Oh....wait....was she....jealous?

Violet shook her head, “You have got to do better!” She said as she hurried past me to Samantha. I could feel my shoulders sag slightly as I quickened my steps to catch up to the two of them. I really was a little stupid it seemed.

All to soon we were back in Samantha’s room, she has not spoken a word to me since we were in the field nor has she even glanced in my direction. I head towards the bathroom first, knowing that Kimmie’s scent on me is still there, “Hey, I’m going to wash up.”

“Yes. That would be best.” She responded curtly; a small growl laced in her voice. Damn she is really pissed at me. Although, I did kinda deserve it I suppose.

As I take yet my third shower in less than 24 hours, I take extra care to scrub any part of me that she touched. I vow to myself that I would be more self-aware, not letting just anyone get their scent all over me. Hmm, I wonder what I smell like to Samantha? Should I ask? She is already so mad at me it’ll be a wonder if she even talks to me for a while. I sigh and hurriedly change into my pajamas and leave the bathroom. I can hear the TV on, she must be waiting up for me. I open the door and Samantha is stretched out across the couch on her stomach, one leg is propped up the back of the couch and her arm is hanging off the side and her gloved hand is laying on the floor. She is clearly asleep this time, or at least I think so, her breathing is deep and rhythmic. She has already changed into some soft looking pajamas and her hair is cascading down her shoulders and back down to the floor.

I walk over to her, still not a hundred percent sure she is asleep. “Hey, you awake?” I pause, still no answer. Sighing, I look around. This position cannot be comfortable and there is a slight chill in the room, I don’t see any extra blankets anywhere. “Samantha?” I ask again as I gently shake her shoulder.

“Uh...maemet..atear....” Is the response I get. What in the heck was that supposed to mean?

“Come on, you should get in the bed. I’ll take the couch....” I slowly roll her over and sit her up. Her emerald eyes slowly crack open to look at me.

“Mmmkesasbaba” Samantha mumbles as she collapses forward into my arms. “Mine.” She mutters as her breathing becomes deeper again. I pull her tightly to me and stand, bringing her to her feet as well. Oh, how I wish I could pick her up in my arms and carry her like she deserves but I’m too afraid I will drop her. Guiding her to the bed I lay her down and wrap the covers around her; tucking her in snuggly. I stand to return to the couch when I am suddenly pulled back and next thing I know I’m looking into the eyes of my mate. She flipped the covers on the other side of the bed back inviting me to sleep on the other side of the bed. Hey if she wants me to sleep here who am I to argue right? I slip effortlessly under the blankets and flipped off the lights. I feel a pair of arms reach for me and soon she is cuddling beside me, her head on my chest. Exhaustion greets me as well and soon I am falling asleep also, the scent of my mate surrounding me, making me feel whole, needed, loved.

I can barely make out the last sentence from my mate as sleep greets me.

“That’s my couch.”

I really like this person's work.A female Alpha .I think it shows strength and a different side.A male should protect his female warriors.I am glad she put the shovenistic person in a place so no female will ever be disrespected in her presence.
