[Madison]
Moran turned down a dirt road. A quarter mile down the road, was a large gate attached to a high stone wall. He hit a box on the sun-visor and the gate opened for us. We continued through a thin, man-made wood. Two large trees marked the end of the drive and the beginning of the yard. Moran pulled up to the house so we wouldn’t have to carry the luggage as far.
[Madison]I had to distract myself from the depressing thought of having to give Ford up. I hadn’t eaten anything since I left the apartment that morning. Cooking often calmed my mind and taking care of others was one of my favorite things.
[Madison]I let go of Ford and went back to the entryway to get the bag of electronics. Once Moran gave me the Wi-Fi password, I quickly downloaded
[Serena]I’d been dozing with Rao for a few hours. His body was divine and I wrapped myself around him, my tail curled gently over his waist. I loved how he smelled. It was like a mixture of the forest and deeply nutty spices. Savory and sweet. Sunlight and rich earth.
[Madison]Early Saturday morning, I woke up and stared at Ford. He was gorgeous when he slept. His long dark eye lashes, the slight redness in his full lips from where he would sometimes chew them in his sleep, the shadow of his unshaved facial hair. He was like a renaissance paint
[Madison]We got Raoul settled and set up a rotation to take care of him. I cooked breakfast for everyone. Then, took a plate up to Ford before I ate, so he could have some while it was fresh. For Rao, I brought a mug of warm chicken broth, a glass of fresh water, and a biscuit. Mo
[Rao]Serena sat next to me and leafed through a magazine. I watched her and, though I was a little spacy from the pills, wanted to try and fix what I’d messed up. I just hoped she’d forgive me.
[Madison]I finished setting up the laptop on the kitchen table. The alcove it was situated in was perfect. Ford could sit on the ottoman or lean against the back of the couch if he wanted.
[Madison]Getting up, I walked over to Ford and pulled him with me to the bathroom. When I closed the door, Serena had started planning out when we’d meet at the cellphone store. Ford looked at me
