"Oh yeah?"

Could my face get any redder? "Don't laugh at me." I pushed his shoulder, but he held my hand in his, letting out another chuckle.

"I'm not! Come on, let me see." he tugged my arm and a gasp escaped me when he shifted us so I was on my stomach.

The mattress beside my legs dipped where he pressed his knees. Heat ignited inside of me as he leaned, using one hand to hold himself and the other to graze the small frame of skin between the end of my sweatpants and my crumpled shirt.

"Here." his fingers pushed over the place I'd said making my skin erupted in goosebumps. "Yeah, it's pretty sexy." his breath hit the spot right before his lips pressed it. "What about you tattoo a minion?" he taunted and I rolled my eyes.

"Ha, ha, aren't you hilarious?" but it came out too breathless as he kissed another sensitive spot up the curb of my back, alluringly eliciting pleasant shivers all across my being. "Nate..."

"Mhm?" the hum vibrated through me along with the chills all across my ski

"What do you mean?""Well, I'd had liked to make you 'feel good' too." I stuttered, shy yet thrilled if that combination was even possible. Every heartbeat hammered soundly in my eardrums as Nate's eyes widened knowingly, understanding. As if it wasn't proof enough the budge against my thigh as I sat on him. "I'd want you to get something out of this too.""I have gotten something out of it." he argued baffled and his lips quirked up in a tender half grin as he rested our foreheads together. My lids fell at their own accord. "You just don't understand what you do to me." I shivered at his husky voice right before he kissed me lovingly, his hand that wasn't around my waist coming to cup my head for a better angle. "You're driving me crazy."I smiled into the kiss, wondering how could he say that when he just blow my mind some minutes ago. I love how selfless he was with these things. He was really patient with me, and the fact that he didn't mind giving something in return of nothing..

"No no Mom-""Mom?" she snorted and my chest tightened at the sound. "What kind of son leaves his mom behind?"I felt the room spinning as I strode closer, aching that she thought I would voluntarily abandon her like my sperm donor. How could she compare me to him? I hated that man almost as much as the motherfucker that'd put these bruised on us."This... is this place. It's rotten. We have to call someone. Uncle Leo said he'll help-""And now you're siding with him." her head shook as she matched my advance with another step backwards. "He's just as cold as you are. Why do you punish me like that? Family sticks together." as if her tears were draining her from strength as well her legs woobled and she let herself sit on the couch behind her, rocking gently as she wimpered muffledly. "If you all want to leave, then go.""Mom." I was also crying by now, kneeling before her as she refused to meet my gaze. "It's not like that.""Just go, go! Go and forget about me. "Nate-""Why not?" cut me Ryan, something darker under that mocking condescending tone of his. "She's a selfish, worthless, man-stealing whore. She broke my family and now's breaking yours. Like, does she even love you?"He was provoking him. It was painfully obvious, but to my dismay he was succeeding. I grabbed harder on Nate just as he was to move forward. I narrowed my gaze, at the blond. "Ryan, shut up.""Or what?" he spat at me, but was quick to dismiss me and looked back at Nate with hatred. "Does the truth hurt that bad? You know, my father's been dropping by lately. He talks shit about you two, I wonder how long until he comes back to his real family.""So he wants you when he drinks?" taunted Nate back in the same cruel tone making my heart squeeze and Ryan fists clenched. This keeps escalating and soon will be more than a few wicked taunts and insults. "That's just sad. You want to take him back? Be my guest. It'll be a pleasure to vanish all of you from our life, but I har

Nate took my not-so-well-concealed concern the wrong way. "You two get along too, right?""Mhm?" I focused back from my little snap out, going through the last sentence he uttered. "Oh, Nadia? Yeah, sure. She's cool."He nodded, relaxing again into the seat. "She is."I tilted my head at his words, deciding I would madly call Kimberly again later tonight, forcing her to stop this awkward break and make sure she was alright. Right now I couldn't do anything about it without Nate knowing, just like I couldn't ask him further for her without raising suspicions. So Nadia, "Are you two still in touch?" I wondered curiously.I had seen them together sometimes, and once I got over the initial stir of jealousy I could see that they did have a nice friendship. And unlike Trish, the cheerleader didn't seem to resent me for being with Nate."When we have time." he glanced at me sideways, as if analysing my reaction. "Does it bother you?""No!" I straightened blushing at his assumption, but then

HaileyI exited the office of Mrs Glennson with a frown, not knowing if I should be thrilled or worried about the news."Hey!" a sudden arm came over my shoulder and I looked up just in time to see Olly pouting. "What's with the sad face?"I shrugged, walking down the hallway to my locker. "I just have a chat with Glennson and she hasn't been really nice.""What?" his brows pursed, less mocking now and more concerned. "What did she say?""She said I'm getting lazy. And monotonous. That my writing no longer feels 'vibrant'." I rolled my eyes as we reached my locker and I pulled it open as Oliver leaned to the one by my side. "Un-thrilling she said." I struggled with the door, but it refused to open an it only fueled my anger all the more. "I mean, has it even occurred her that I'm bound to get monotonous when she confine me in one stupid section I hate for months.""Okay, okay." he pulled me away from the stubborn thing before I tore it apart and instead opened it with a simple click.

As always, he woke up thousands of shudders and chills. There was a hint of franticness in his kiss as his hands closed around my waist, holding me closer at the same time he pressed me into the closet's wall."We- you have... rehearsals." I muttered between kisses, smiling at his playful mood. "Nate-""Just five minutes." he rolled my bottom lip into his mouth, and took my gasp as his chance to deepen it, successfully shattering any trace of rational thoughts I could still have on me. "Ten, I have ten minutes left. I'll make it worth it."My hands slid easily through his hair, fully melting now when he crashed our lips once more. Hot delight running in my veins like liquid fire."I want you so bad right now." Nate groaned again as he kept exploring my body. I could literally explode right now feeling him in my lower abdomen."I can tell." encouraged I arched my back, pressing us closer and lowered one of my hands down his side and to cautiously rub him over the sweatpants, testing bo

"Who is that?" hummed Olly, voicing a more casual doubt I was having too. That wasn't his step-dad. I think? I hadn't seen much of that man, but I didn't remember him like that at all. And also, by how Nate always talked about him and what I'd guessed on my own I doubted he would be this cheerful in his presence."I believe he said it's his uncle." shrugged Nadia. "He said something about him coming as a surprise or something like that.""Nice." I mumbled, my heart clenching as I eyed their interaction from afar, before turning to Oliver and giving them a little privacy. "So, you still proclaiming having born ready?""More than a bird wanting to fly."I giggled. "You are weird.""You still love me so..." he glanced around casually. "Hey, wasn't Kimberly with you? I could swear I'd seen you walk in together.""Yes, but she went ahead and I lost her at some point.""Oh, they-" Nadia's eyes shone with something strange that twisted my guts, but before I could ask or she could explain fur

NateI could hear my mother's voice from my room, speaking almost in apathy, but the sound was drowned by the loud volume of the TV. I could practically follow the match Harold was watching from here.He was clearly ignoring her, too focused on the fucking game to spend a second discussing domestic matters with her. The exhaustion in my mother's tone was ripping me from inside, but I forced my words down clenching my jaw as I got ready to leave. After the amazing game we pulled on yesterday we were all in the mood for a good party, and after the last hours in the garage I was honestly yearning for something more than sit here and listen how my dysfunctional family 'argue'.I was still amazed my mother came to the match yesterday, but gladly amazed. I mean, sure, I'd been telling her about the scouts and about the important games, but she usually had a shift or couldn't make it. Yet yesterday she did. Probably because the unexpected visit of Uncle Leo but still, having them there had b

"Hailey," he whined leaning forward almost instinctively, as if he couldn't help it and in awe I realized I was doing exactly the same. "I love you." he breathed against my lips and my lids fell, making me inched even closer. "But I can't rely my well-being only on you. It won't be fair for neither of us. There's a lot of things I need to figure out on my own, that I need to fix. And I need to do this by myself.""B-but t-this doesn't have to be a goodbye." I muttered resting my forehead against his. "Even with the distance, with the fight... I'm sorry. I am. And if you say nothing's happened with Trish, I believe you. We can still make this work...""Hailey." he sighed through his nose, his head tilting so our breaths mixed and it all felt all the more painful. It was as if he was slipping away when he was right there. Close enough to touch but impossible to keep. He was leaving me behind. Way behind. Where I couldn't reach him. "I don't want to hurt you. He let out a disbelief chuckle, dry and humorless. "Is that the only thing important for you? Maybe there's a major reason for me to need to use her place."My guts did a complicated turn. "Yeah, but you won't tell me. I won't keep prying in stuff that clearly upsets you and bring us to fight more, so I focus on the part where I still have a say on... or at least have the right to comment." I finally slid off my ankle boots and met his eyes again, fueled with this bubbling anger as I keep hearing Trish's voice and reliving what I'd felt this morning. "You were with her. Every time we have some problem you run back to her.""That's not true.""It is. She still wants something with you, she's made it pretty clear and you keep going back to her." his eyes darkened at each word passing my lips, but they were true and speaking them out loud only seemed to make them more real. Along with my unease and anger. "And it's completely unfair because you're extremely possessive over me with any gu

HaileyI left Vickie's house after mid-afternoon, not finding more excuses to occupy my mind in things other than the huge mess with Nate. And also, I got a day full of other headaches either way so I didn't have time to overthink it. For starters, I had to go recognize Ryan, and that alone was nerve-cracking and stressful, but also in school people were all talking about the same two things: Kimmy fainting and Vickie's photoshopped pics. What an awful mess. The redhead didn't want to show up at school and convinced her parents to stay in the day. Olly and Bear had been suspended for yesterday's fight and Bear with a plus for distributing the horrible photoshopped picture. They were considering expelling him if there were any prove he was indeed the one spreading it. Shame the account that did was a fake one.But it was a matter of time, I was sure. Then Vickie would be able to forget about this and his vicious ways of getting her attention. Then the only problem would be them being n

"This... Look, she's been calling since we fight, but I was mad and had my phone turned off, but this morning she called and..." I couldn't continue, it was as if the words refused to voice it. Fuck, why so guilty. Why? I hadn't actually done anything."Nate." Kimberly huffed unimpressed when I failed to proceed, even with her weak tone I sense the disapproval. "What on earth did you tell her?""Nothing.""Well, knowing how sensible Gracie is that 'nothing' might as well scar her.""Nothing, okay! Just..." I was feeling too altered to remain sitting so I stood, anxiously pacing in the white, clean room. "Trish took her call this morning and now she's the one avoiding me.""What?" even in her feeble state her disbelief was like a slap. "Are you stupid? What were you doing with the stuck-up bitch?"Where else? "I got nowhere to go." but it disappointed her and my already poking guilt shifted to a whole new level as Kimmy frowned."I'm sure that's not true. And now Gracie has to face the

It was about time to accept that yesterday happened. As shitty as it was, it was. Everything on it. And now that the first shock and betrayal feeling I was able to go through everything again and nothing made sense.Maybe it was about time to stop this stupid childish lock out and talk to Hailey? Let her explain? I was still mad but I haven't talked to her since yesterday and now that my initial emotions were settling a little I couldn't stand the memory of her crying. And it was Hailey. I knew her. She must have had a reason not to tell me, as much as it hurt the lie.I slid on the jacket and picked up the phone, from the table. Had I left it there? Whatever. Yet the second red flag fluttered when I unlocked the screen, halting me in my tracks. "Trish.""Yeah?" she hummed cutting her apple in pieces, oblivious at all the emotions suddenly roaming aggressively in my chest, unsure yet of which one stood out from the others."Have you taken one of my calls?""Mhm? Oh yeah. Gracie called

"Okay." she chuckled as I sat back in my spot, more cheerful now at the perspective of seeing Kimberly.I asked for them to keep me updated, but it shouldn't have surprised me when I got no notification. It hurt, but a part of me understood both Seth and Nate got more immediate things to worry about than to keep me up about it too.The mere reminder of his reaction and how he shut me out made my heart twitched painfully under my ribs.Almost as if sensing where my thoughts were going, my mother tilted her head, taking her cup of coffee. "What about Nate? Have you managed to talk to him?""He's ignoring me.""I'm sure he's not." she retorted instead brushing my hair off my shoulder. "He must be occupied and concerned about your friend too. It must have slipped his mind. He'll get over it.""No, mom, he's ignoring me. Kimmy's mother's just told me they were there until the visiting hours ended and still he didn't answer me at all. In all night. And I've been texting and calling..." my a

Now it all make sense. Her exhaustion, how thin she was getting, the hair falling, her being kicked out the cheer squad, the whole stop hanging out with us... because if she did, we would notice something was off with her eating habits and we would have done something about it.But Hailey knew. And she did nothing. I knew Kimmy was hiding something, but why did Hailey have to lie? What the hell? How could had she allowed that?! I tugged at my hair for the umpteenth time today, but the buzzing in my ears didn't stop. My mind was going overdrive over every detail from the day, over every time my friend acted weird, every chance Hailey had of telling the trust...I didn't get it. Everything was spiraling down to a dark tornado and I saw myself falling and sinking more in the darkness as I lost more and more pillars that kept me sane. How did everything spin out of control from a good birthday to this?I couldn't even cope with everything. Somehow I just wanted to slid into my bed and dre

HaileyMy hands were shaking with apprehension and fright as I talked to the ambulance's assistant as they all attended Kimmy. I hadn't stopped crying since she fainted some moments ago and despites our best chances she still hadn't wake up.I knew this would happen, I knew she wasn't holding up as good as she claimed to be, I knew she was getting worst and lying about it, but I didn't know what I was supposed to do. I didn't want to break her trust, but now seeing as they lifted the stretched to the back of the ambulance I wished I had instead of having to face how she'd fallen to this. And it was my fault. I should have seen this coming. I should have done more, tell someone... I was too focused on hanging in this little confidence Kimmy allowed me, so scared to lose it that I watched and let her fully fell on the abysm. And for the way Nate's been avoiding my gaze ever since he heard me telling the paramedics what was going on. The way he sat by the path with his head in his hands

"Great, look at this." I pulled up my hand to show her the letters and she took them from me."What is that?" wondered Kimmy resting her head on her folded arms over the table, her lids closed. "Please do enlighten the rest of us.""It's- Nate!" cheered Hailey as I took my usual spot in the table and pulled her down with me to sit on the bench as well between my legs. "It's the scholarship."That successfully caught Kimmy's attention, making her straightened in her seat across from us. "They've accepted you?""Three of them have." grinned Hailey, genuinely proud of me and making me feel even lighter as she rewarded me with a proper kiss, for the first time not caring about PDA. "I knew you'll make it.""Yeah, yeah, which ones?" Kimberly took the papers from her quickly scrolling through them. Her brows rose. "Wow, Herond. Three of them. Now this is something to be proud of.""Thanks.""It is." Hailey's smile beamed, but cut my next kiss too short, turning to the table instead. "Here."
