"Kiss me if I'm wrong, but you're dying to kiss me."

"I..."

"Hellooo." we flinched away at Kimberly's pitched squeal and turned to see her standing barely five feet from the bench. "Are we going to play or I got Brandon got us all this for nothing?" she gestured to the bag in her arms with a couple bottles.

"Just making time, Kimmy. No big deal." Nate chuckle brushed my red cheeks as he pulled away, pinning me there with his eyes. "Are you playing?"

"Uh?"

If you added hormonal altered to the tipsiness I already had with me, you got a massive clueless.

His lips pulled up in an adorable smirk, amused by my void answer. But it was the raven-haired girl who responds with an eye roll. "We just got the Vodka for truth or dare. I even got us Tequila too. Wanna join?"

I... shouldn't. But there was something so exciting in being here. With Nate. Forgetting about anything else with that skill of his to numb my mind...

After a brief hesitation I thought, what the hell?, and smirked. "Yeah, why

But I just held Kimberly gaze. She was daring me again, almost mocking. No one believed I could do it. That the plain goody two shoes me could do something like body shots. I was sick and tired of being the boring one, the one left behind. And I got this boldness from alcohol and the perspective of Nate's lips this close... I turned to him and gulping the hesitation I smiled instead. "It's fine. I want to."Nate still looked a bit unsure so I decided to take action. I'd never done body shots before, so I didn't know how to do it without looking like a creep. Instead of embarrassing myself, I decided to play the bodyshot part and brushed my hair off my shoulders, exposing the modest cleavage only that now it felt a lot more daring. Blood burned in my veins when Nate's gaze lingered there and his hold on me tightened. From the corner of my eye I saw Trish frowned and scooped away, but my attention was suddenly overwhelmed in a turmoil of sensations. Kimberly got up to give us more spa

Hailey"Relax." I giggled at how flustered Vickie was getting. Her hands a moving mess over the counter between us as I prepared a new cup. "Don't tell me this is how you were the first time.""N-no, of course not." "Then?" finishing the ice-cream cup I placed a small plastic spoon on it and turned towards the costumer with a bright smile. "There you go. It's 4'95."She handed it and took the cup heading where the rest of her friends had gathered. The place wasn't that filled now that we were in November. In summer it gets handful, but right now it's rather a chill work. So my boss trusted me alone in the shop. Most of the time ever since mid October I used all this free time to do my homework or read or even watch Netflix on certain hours of extreme inactivity. Now it was a good time, it was late enough for there to be someone around, but not too much so people arrived on their hanging outs and I had to fully pay my 100% senses to the work and still get overpowered. Which was also

As ridiculous as it was, I couldn't deny the wave of disappointment that washed over me at his easy departure. That's it, Hailey. This is what you wanted. You knew it was meaningless and how easily you get attached. It's for the best. But it didn't feel like that. ........................................The whole week had been strange. From the very moment I woke up with a heavy hangover pounding my skull mercilessly on. I'd made out with Nate Herond! I had gone to the fair aiming for an official date or whatever with Justin and ended up with a broken heart and messing around with a different guy. The hell? This wasn't me. I'd never been one to jump into someone to forget about someone else... true, I'd never been infatuated before, so getting over wasn't something I was used too. And now... knowing Justin had been using me this whole time, lying straight to my face, it made me so mad. I'd been expecting to be sad once the alcohol's affects faded, but instead was hit with a brut

Hailey"I don't get it."I sighed at Vickie when she again refused to accept what I was saying. "We got this deal so we could kiss and it won't mean more than it.""And you're okay with it?"My stomach curled, but I looked back at her from my notebook I was holding on my knees and lifted one brow. "And why wouldn't I be?""Oh, I don't know. Maybe because you've been chasing after Justin since forever and now it totally looks like Nate is your rebound."My hands clenched almost crumbling the paper, but I forced myself to relax before she noticed. "I don't know what you're talking about." it came harder than I intent and she noticed judging by her frown, but I didn't give her time to lecture me some more. For a second the cold breeze curled around us in the silence of the backyard and I knew she was judging my snap, probably taking the wrong conclusions. In a second I'd closed my notebook and was on my feet, "I'll see you tomorrow.""Oh, I..." just as the bell rang over our heads. Just

Hailey"Please no more." Nate groaned, frustratedly pushing his book away. "What about a break?""Nate," I frowned, getting his workbook and eying the exercises. "We're a week away from the exam, and you still kinda lame with second grade fractions.""But they're so boring!" he whined like a child and leaned backwards against the headboard, so abruptly he made the bed wiggle, me and our things along with it. I fisted the sheets to stay balanced. "We've done like twenty of them and I still suck. The quicker we learn I'm a lost cause the better."I sighed. It'd been like this for the last hour. He was damn stubborn and his pride was too big. So now that his ego was wounded, he was even more closed off and it'd become and endless loop. We were in his apartment, quieter than my place -today at least since my mother was having another of her meetings. Here, instead, it was just the two of us. Once Nate urged Freckles out the room and close the door so it won't get back inside, this place

To my relief he smiled against my lips. "Alright." Nate panted as well, each outtake of air hitting my heated skin and eliciting toe-curling sensations that caressed my spine. "Let me check yours..." he bend over to take my own notes from their forgotten spot by me leg, making me bend along pushed by his chest with a surprised giggle. He then got up from behind me and I pushed my knees to my chest, now that his warmth was gone very aware of how exposed I was. "Wow, look at that." Nate dropped them on the table with his, turning with that malicious smirk and walking back. "All correct.""And how would you know?" My eyes narrowed playfully as he reached the hem of the mattress and kneeled on it, making it dipped. "You've haven't even glance at them."Nate smirked. "Lucky guess." and grabbed my ankles, pulling so I fell on my back with a gasp and in few short seconds he was hovering over me. He smiled down and the butterflies in my stomach became painful. "You want a prize too?" Mesmeri

"Fuck." Fred tensed on the other side of the table, tensing as he glanced something pass our shoulders. "Don't look now, but Ryan is over there.""What?"Of course, all of us turned at once and yes, the prick was getting out his car with his goons glued to his ass. They all wore the team's jackets of Crossroads, as if proudly showing they were from the losing team. Idiots. Our eyes met through the distance and a grimace tugged his lips before they headed the opposite end of the crowd.I groaned and slammed the bottle on the wooden table and unsteadily stood. "That's my cue to leave."One asshole per day was my limit. Two if you count Bear as well, but today he hadn't said anything too dumb. I had to grip on the edge of the table not to stumble. Great. Finally, I couldn't feel the throbbing anymore. Mission accomplished. The pain was replaced by slurred thoughts and it came as a balsam. I didn't need to endure this anymore. And certainly not if Ryan Scott was near by. After the bea

You're sure you're good, man?""Yes.""Okay," he smiled knowingly at us and spun around to walk now determined. "I leave you in good hands then. You know where to find me.""Nate," Hailey snapped my attention back at her and I noticed her eyes on my side, concern all over her face. "You won't stop touching it, can I have a look?""No.""Come on, you're such a child..." she gently peeled my hand from there, creating a tingling sensation where our skins met and successfully distracting me enough for her to lift the hem of my shirt to see the first dark mark. "Oh my... are those bruises? Do they hurt?""A little..." I say before realizing I did and quickly covered it with a smirk, pushing down the fabric. "You can always kiss them better."She blushed giving Oliver a side glance, but he was already snoring at the other end of the space. Now that is a fast sleeper, I thought with envy.

I don't want nor need that distortion. I was good. We were good.I slammed Letty's door closed and flinched form the loud sound. Shit, sorry baby. I slouched into the seat, caressing the steering wheel as if to apologize to her and focus on lessening my breaths. Easy Nate. Easy, just- Fuck.My eyes widened as I recognized the lace from that stupid prize we won on Halloween laced over the rear view mirror and my chest squeezed. I'd completely forgotten it was there. Quickly, I untangled it, balling it and opened the glove box, but inexplicably halted before dropping it. My heart clenched for some unknown reason and my fist tightened around the soft lace before opening and I glanced down at it. I could feel my pulse on every corner of my being."Fuck my life." but it came out breathlessly and before giving me time to fully analyze my stupidity, I was lacing it back where it was. I must be out of my mind. ........................................She exited the ice-cream shop, d

"Me?""Him. And you for bringing him!""Kimmy-""I'm going to the washroom as well." cut her standing up just as the waitress came with our orders. Kimmy eyes waited for her to put it all on, with that sharp look still persistent making Seth flinch, but as soon as the girl moved she slid out the bench as well."Fuck." Seth muttered once she walked away airily. "I screw up, didn't I?""Dude." I scoffed earning his attention once more. "How could you not advise her Bear was coming? You know she hates him.""Well, yeah... but I thought it was more like dislike. This right now felt like the Cold War." It totally did. "Why didn't you tell her?""Oh, no." I scoffed, pushing away his accusatory pointing finger. "Don't put this on me. You told me to remind her 'your offer'. How was I to know what '

NATE: R we good?I put the phone down, facing the counter when once more it turned up to be him. My chest still too messed up for this. It's been like this since I 'avoided' him at school. Which shouldn't get him so bothered. He ignored me, I gave him space. Now I needed it too. I handed the waiting lady her ice-cream and forced out a smile. "Have a nice day.""Thanks." she grinned back and handed it down to the little girl she was with, who jumped excitedly at her dessert as I kept the change in the machine. Next costumer step in, and then a couple more before the shop get's quiet again. As usual, it was rather deserted. A guy at the back, curved over his computer with an ice coffee in front of him and two teenage girls giggling and whispering loudly over the phone of one of them. Not busy anymore, I retired once more to the end of the counter where I had my things spread, in the middle of my French essay. Yet the moment I sat another burst of dings as more text came. HaileyI let my plastic fork fiddle with the food, not really hungry and instead I moved the vegetables from one side to another. I knew I was neglecting myself this past week, but everything tasted like sand in my mouth and the constant nerves twitched my stomach in the most random moments.Seeing my mother cry only added to the already bad mood I was having. I mean, if she was distressed it wasn't just some mistake. This could really be serious. Maybe my father was in trouble. I felt like drowning, metaphorically but also physically in some way. I hated it. I just want him to contact us and tell us everything was okay. To make things even worst, I was on my lunch period alone, since none of my friends shared it with me today, and whether it was good since I wasn't the best company lately, I could really use the distractions. Instead, I was here, in one of the small table in the corner of the canteen, scrolling through TikTok without really looking at it. My mind numb when Nate ha

"What is he doing here?""Mh?" I sat straight again after picking my bag just as Tay entered the path the parted from the main road and lead to the farm. Confused at her out of the blue question I followed her gaze and my heart jolted when I recognized Letty from afar, parked before my house. "Oh," my brows knitted together. "I don't know."I quickly check my phone, but I got no new texts from him responding mine nor announcing his arrival. Today he hadn't come at school at all and apparently answering a text was too complicated. A part of me was glad he came, these past days, I only managed to fully get my mind of things with him. He touches me and the world disappears. Maybe it was a good thing he was here. Otherwise, as soon as Tay dropped me I'd be alone with my thoughts again. "You like him?" my friend's voice snapped me out my trance, making my eyes went wide as I turned towards her."Of course not!" I gaped, but she returned the look sternly for a second before diverting again

HaileyMy leg kept bouncing up and down the more the seconds stretched. Logan by my side, gave me pointed -annoyed- looks, but I rolled my eyes and ignored it. Mrs Glennson took her time passing the pages of our last article, her lips pursed as we wait for her verdict. I felt a light tap on my feet, but in my state it made me jump. Bewildered, I gave Logan a glare and he gestured me to stop the mad bouncing. As if it was that easy! We've been called here for a reason, and judging by the scowl on her face it wasn't a good one."Well," she cleared her throat finally, snapping both our attention back to her. "I gotta say I'm disappointed."Just like that my chest deflated. If there was anything I was spotless at, that was writting. I'd been on the Daily ever since I was allowed to and never once I'd been disappointing. That hurt. Her eyes lifted from this week's article we'd released this Monday an was due to be printed in this Friday's edition."Putting you two together was a bold deci

Especially when Instagram existed and it was easy to know who attend yesterday's Seth's friendly gathering...But he wasn't one to take the hint -or at least he was really good at bluntly ignoring them. The bench dipped a bit under a new weight and I knew he'd sit by my side. And for some reason him staying churned my guts in both a bad and a very good way. "Hey, is this yours?" without looking I could tell by the sounds he'd picked up my barely touched turkey sandwich."I don't want it.""You don't? But it looks so yummy."I shrugged, my stomach couldn't be more closed right now so eating wasn't an option. "You can have it, then. I don't mind."I heard him pulling down the wrapper and munching a bite. "Yep, it is yummy." I rolled my eyes at his mouth-full answer, at least one of us was appreciating my mother's work. I felt him poking my arm. "Now, what's up with you?""Nothing.""Yeah, like I would believe that." there was another poke and I shrugged my arm, tingles burning the skin

HaileyMondays weren't my favourite day. At all. But after this exhausting weekend more than ever I would have done almost anything to add another day to recover. I promised myself I wouldn't let Taylor fool me again into helping her babysit. Four-year-olds could be really hyperactive, and if you added the sugar rush to it you got a killer mix. Killer for us, of course, the parents were pleased with how happy they exited the party. Never again. That plus the new article they want this week and the constant stress since my father failed to call us this Saturday got me crawling through the hallways like a zombie. Not even the concealer was able to fully cover the dark bags under my eyes. He was on a mission, they wouldn't even tell us where. But every two, three weeks at most he video call us. This week he hadn't. Not Saturday.Nor Sunday.Nor today. What if something bad had happened? They hadn't advised us about anything going wrong but neither about it going well. What if he was
