Kaya

The snow had stopped coming down, and I was ecstatic. I jumped out of bed and rushed to the closet to throw on clothes and my boots. Cade mind linked me as I was brushing my teeth. "What is the rush?" "It is winter, solstice. There is so much to do." I peeked out of the bathroom to see Cade still lying there. He had moved the pillow to cover his face. "Take your time this morning. I have much to do with Helen, Kimi, Saka, Len, and Robert. Don't open your gift yet. That is later." I ran to him and gave him a kiss on the forehead.

His arms reached out, wrapped around me, and pulled me to the bed. "Stay in bed. It is a holiday; we have nothing scheduled." He mind linked. I tried to pull away, but he had me in a vise. "Cade, you have nothing to do but enjoy the day, but I have stuff to do. Now let me go, or you will not like how I get out of this bed." I mind-linked him. He pulled me tighter to him, bringing his face into the crook of my neck. "Cade, let me go." I mind-l

CadeEveryone was in high spirits. The drinking had already started and Kaya and her friends where bottomless pits. I didn't know how they drank so much. Kaya mind linked me. "We should announce the tattoos then they can talk about it ask questions and then we can do the hunt." We had talked about days prior how to talk to the pack about the pack tattoo. Then I thought about Kaya hunting. She was fairly drunk already how did she plan on hunting. I had never seen anyone shift who had alcohol in their systems. I looked at the pack and most people where feeling the effects and I wondered how that would all work. Kaya wanted me to talk through most of the days activities because she could only mind link and sign and she wanted people to actual hear the schedule. I stood up and spoke, getting everyone's attention. With there eyes all on me I began. "Shadow Pack, I am happy you are all enjoying yourself. Now I would like to talk to you about something. As you know, Kaya and h

Kaya When I brought my group into the woods, I looked at them and mind-linked them. "Okay, I know you all want to hunt, but unlike the other groups' hunting, you have me, so the question is, what do you want to hunt?" I mainly had younger wolves. Ones I taught at the high school. "How about a bear, Luna? You have killed those before." "Bears are hibernating right now. We can't get one of those." "I want to get something huge." I internally smiled. "Let's get a moose or a mountain lion." "Let me see what I can smell. It may take a while, but we will get one of those." The wolves began to prance in anticipation. I put my snout in the air and inhaled. I smelt elk, but we didn't want that. "We will go for a run until I find the scent we need." I mind-linked. We took off, and Kimi mind linked with me. "What was that all about?" "I asked what they wanted to hunt." "What did they say?" "Moose or mountain lion." "Let's get a moose. We have enough wolves to take one down safely." "

Cade Kaya and her friends were all sitting around the massive fire they had built. It was as big as the one they always kept burning when they lived in the North. I was next to my mate as we listened to Saka tell the story of his first hunt. He was signing as he talked so Kaya could know what he was saying. "Then I came upon a group of reindeer; I had to do the formation we used to hunt when there is a herd all by myself. It was a long chase with no one to corner the creature." I looked around at my pack, which was engrossed in his story. Everyone who was here was in high spirits. Those from the North were still drinking and far too gone. Half the things Len and Kimi said were in their native language. My pack was no better. They were just as drunk. The little kids were all in bed, so the only ones up were the ones who could drink. Kaya had practically tried to drown me in alcohol, and I was just as drunk as the rest of them. I knew I should worry about everyone in t

KayaI stumbled into the packhouse. I was definitely drunk. I knew a bathroom was on the first floor; I just had to find it. I stumbled through the empty house. Everyone was outside. I finally made it to the bathroom and did what I had to do. I looked at myself in the mirror. My cheeks were red from the cold, but I was so warm. I nearly tripped when I came out of the room. Suddenly, I saw a few men. I mind-linked them but got nothing in return. These were not from shadow pack these had to be Jacks men his warriors. What were they doing here? One charged me with something in his hand. I moved to slowly and something rammed into my arm. It stung when it pierced my skin. The men pulled back what were they doing. Then I felt it. Suddenly, I was burning up. My skin felt like it was on fire. I saw the man's mouth moving I tried to focus on the movement to see what he was saying. "feeling hot little Luna." I didn't know what was going on. "Yeah, the drug works fast." Drug, wh

Kaya I woke up in our bed. Everything that happened earlier this morning coming back to me. There was no light shining through the window. Was it night already. What time was it? How long had I been asleep? "Cade," I mind-linked. "You are awake?" "Yeah, what time is it? Where are you." "Just stay in bed. I will bring you some food, and then we can talk, okay." "That is fine." I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I wanted to brush my teeth and wash my face. I changed into some comfy leggings and one of Cade's shirts. To cover my toes, I put on a pair of fuzzy socks. I was comfy. My hair looked like a rat's nest, so I brushed it out and returned to the bed. I looked at the few quilts I had made. They looked good in here. I stood making the bed. I folded and draped two quilts across the bed's bottom. I fluffed the pillows and then went to sit on the couch we had in the room. I looked at the fireplace that had no fire going. I felt when Cade come into the room and turned

Cade I took Kaya downstairs. I had the tree already set up. Mark and Helen were there, as were Kimi and Robert. Saka and Len decided to spend the holiday with their new mate's family. That, however, did not stop them from coming by every day to check on their friend. They had been here this afternoon to check and see if she had woken up. I would need to mind-link them and tell them what was going on. I also called Nieva, who was so distraught over the news that I could hear her crying into the phone. I knew Kaya herself was upset. I knew she would try to shove it down, but the news of what could have happened distressed her. She most likely was pregnant now, and we would find out in a few days, but she would most likely never have more children. We would probably only ever have one. It was a hard blow. I wanted Kaya to carry my child, but I was never desperate to resort to using a fertility drug.I knew the consequences of something like that. Now, she and I would both suffer for it

Kaya Cade looked at me as we lay in bed. Neither of us wanted to be physical. "How did you like the movies?" He mind linked me. "They were funny, though. I didn't really get the opulence of the whole thing." He smirked. "So now that we can talk, you said you wanted to talk about the goddess and her blessing." Cade looked at me, reached over, and began to stroke my hair. "It was amazing; when I fought off Jack and his men, I felt stronger than I normally do, and I think the fact you were able to resist everything was because you, too, were stronger." his mind linked me. I sat there looking at him. He was right. The blessing they made us stronger. The Goddess had to be looking over me. It could have been so much worse than what had happened. Cade mind-linked me. "The whole pack felt they were stronger. They told me as much." I just nodded. "Oh, and I wanted to tell you everyone in the pack wants to get a tattoo." "Really?" "Yeah, the kids who are twelve are even getting them

CadeI woke up, and Kaya was not next to me. I mind-linked her, and she didn't respond. I began to freak out. I mind-linked Robert, who had yet to respond. He was probably asleep. I jumped out of bed and rushed out of the room. I would sniff her out and hope I could find her. I didn't know if someone took her. I followed her scent and was happy when it didn't lead out of the front door. I continued to follow it. I found her in the living room. She was curled up on the couch. Kimi on the other side. She must have felt my presence because she slowly opened her eyes. She mind-linked me. "Cade." I wanted to yell at her for making me think she was in some mortal danger. I mean, with everything that had happened, she should have known I would have worried when I woke up, and she was not there. But, looking at her so peacefully, I couldn't get mad. "Good morning, Merry Christmas." She read my lips. "Merry Christmas; I am sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep down here." "I didn't li

KayaI lay there in the bright light and sat up suddenly. A woman was standing next to me. She was beautiful. Her long white hair was to her feet. Her white skin had a glow. And her white eyes were looking right at me. "My daughter Kaya." I could hear her. "Yes, in here, you can hear and talk. Try it." I opened my mouth and thought about what I wanted to say. "Who are you?" It took me back to hear my voice. The women smiled. "You are in my home." I looked around. It was pure white. "I also frequent the land where all my children go when they die, you know, as the Garden, but this is actually where I live." "But who are you?" "I think you already know the answer." "You are the Goddess." "Yes I am, I am named Selen." I smiled. She had a name. "Do you know why I brought you here instead of the garden with the other wolves who died?" I just shook my head. "Well, I wanted to talk to you." "I wanted to thank you for uniting the North and the South. I always wanted you both to be friends.

CadeWe were running, and I felt it. Kaya was off the link. I tried to mind link her but she didn't respond I let out a roar that shook the trees near us. "Robert." I mind-linked. "Alpha, she is dead." "What happened?" "She, I had to cut the baby out, and she just died." I could feel his emotion over the link. What do I even do? She was gone. How had this happened? She was the strongest wolf I knew. I roared again. I was going to kill Howi, which would be long and drawn out. He had killed my mate. If she had been left alone, she would have been in a hospital. She would be in comfort snuggling our newborn. I didn't know if even the baby would survive. The north, though, was warmer now because of the season, but it would still be cold. There was still snow on the ground. I knew the rest of the pack felt that she had died, and Mark's mind linked me. "Cade." "What?" I yelled through the link while I continued to run. "I am sorry." I snapped my jaws at him. I would not hear about her. No

Kaya I landed just fine. The snow was so much deeper than I thought it would be at this time of the year. Not to mention, it was powder and not hard like ice or packed snow at all. It didn't seem natural. This had to be the Goddess's doing. She had to have made the ground better for falling into. I looked around and Saw Robert lying in the powder. I ran to him. He was lying there limp. I sniffed him. He was still breathing. He needed to be mended. I looked around frantically. There was not much around me. I saw some trees in the distance. There had to be something there. I used my snout to feel around until I felt blood on his shoulder. I used my paw to roll him and saw it went straight through. He would be okay. I didn't know why he was still asleep. They had to have given him something else besides shooting him. The wound was nasty but it could be mended. Maybe they had drugged him again while I was passed out. I tried to mind link, Cade. "Kaya, what is it?" "I was taken. I am, w

Kaya I woke up, and Robert was lounging in a chair. He looked like he had something on his mind. But he seemed like he always had stuff on his mind these days. I was sure it was because I was on bed rest. "Robert." I mind-linked him. "Can we go out to eat? You know the place by the river and eat outside. I want to go hiking, but I know I am supposed to be in bed and I don't think going out to eat counts as breaking the bed rest." "Luna, we need to stay home." My face fell. "Well, then, can I have some moose?" He nodded, and I followed him into the kitchen, where I immediately sat down. He pulled some out of the freeze, immediately put it in the sink, and turned on the water to defrost it. He sat down at the small table with me. "What is it?" I signed. He didn't respond, and I knew something was wrong. "Tell me," I commanded over the link. "Cade mind linked. Howi knows the pack is in the North. No one was there when they went to fight. Howi also knows you are not in the North and is

CadeWe had the spray made. There was so much made that everyone sprayed themselves down. Then, we decided to stagger our movement. So some left already with some deltas. Then another set went yesterday. Today, I was moving out. The people already in Howi's pack had started to set traps. When I got there, I would also set traps. It would take about two days until we were ready to set fires. It was a risk doing it in days as we could get caught. I knew Howi knew we were already coming. When he set his message, it told me he had eyes on us like we did for him. I tore through the woods, my wolf running at a steady pace. I had my bag attached to my back leg with clothes on it. We could not set the traps and fires in wolf form. But fighting we would need to do in wolf form if possible. We are more robust in that form. I ran all day. Stopping at night to rest, then getting up and running again. It was a two-day run to Daybreak pack. Howie had moved his pack to Jack's ho

CadeWe finalized everything. The plan was in motion. The woman who made the perfume had stayed behind with her mate; their oldest son had taken their youngest to the North. Both wanted to stay and fight for the pack. She had agreed to make a spay of skunk, and I, for one, was glad it was not me. I knew that was going to be a stinky job. Robert gave me a report on Kaya after they went to see the OBGYN. He had said she wanted to be left alone and was in a bad mood. But Robert gave me the rundown of what was said. I knew Kaya would be upset, and I wanted to comfort her. She should not be going through this without me. But we had a plan now. We had an idea of how to win. Once the scent was made and we could spray ourselves, we would move into position. It would be a process over days, but I was sure it would go fast once everything was in motion. But we would have to wait until the spray is ready. I hurried off to the training field. It was after lunch training session. T

Kaya Robert and I waited in the OBGYN room. The place was so different from the clinic back at Shadow Pack. I got several looks from the other women waiting. I didn't know if they were staring at me or if they were looking at Robert, who was burly. He resembled a bear. He mind-linked me. "This place is ridiculous, a bit pretentious much?" I cracked a smile. I had been thinking the same thing. I sat there playing with my fingers. "Kaya, they are calling you." I stood and Robert with me. The woman led us back, making me get on a scale and take my height. Suddenly, the woman stopped and turned to me. "I am so sorry. I didn't realize you were deaf, and here I was talking and not looking at you." I read her lips and then looked at Robert. "It is so nice that your husband here can help translate for you." I began to frantically sign that Robert was not my husband. "Oh well, you guys are not married. Not everyone has to be to have a baby. I bet you two are excited." My ange

Cade The morning came, and I waited for Kaya to mind-link me, which she did every morning when she woke up. Even before she left, I noticed that she had started to sleep in later. Growing a werewolf was a lot of work. It was no surprise to me she slept a lot. Today, I would meet with a few people, and we would strategize the best way to take out Howi. Kaya and I reviewed some ideas yesterday, and I liked her suggestion of setting a fire. But that would not be enough. I was eating breakfast with Mark, neither of us talking. In fact, no one in the packhouse was talking. I knew it was because they all missed their loved ones. Everyone, including me, was sullen. I felt Kaya's mind link me. "Cade, good morning." "Good morning, love. Did you sleep well?" "Yes, I wish you could see my toes." "What about them?" "Robert and I went to the aquarium yesterday and got pedicures after lunch. I had them paint them bright pink. It is so cute." I couldn't help but crack a smile." "Oh, and

Kaya Robert and I had met the neighbors, and I felt they already hated me. That or they just didn't understand me. Humans never did understand facial tattoos. I mind linked Cade as soon as I got up. "Cade." "Your awake." "Yeah, did I worry you?" "No, of course not. I figured you were asleep when I tried to mind-link you earlier, but Robert told me you were sleeping. He also said you are going out today." "Yeah, I was going to go out and just wander around the city." "No place in mind?" "No." Being here just a few days was already getting boring. I needed to get out of the house. "Have him take you to Sheels; you liked that place. You could also go to the zoo again or even the aquarium would be fun. Then maybe go get your feet rubbed at a nail place." "Who would rub my feet? That does not seem like a thing." "No, it is. You pay them, and they will wash and rub your feet." "Okay, I will ask Robert about all of that." "Good." "So everyone left this morning, right?" "That
