Summer's POV
Michael didn't bother giving her time to keep up with his angry stride, allowing Summer to stay back just out of arms reach. She knew what was going to come, after all she had truly made a huge mistake in his eyes. No amount of explanation would change that. Also, convincing him that one of his very own was betraying him would deem pointless. All Summer could do at the moment was brace herself for the onslaught that was waiting for her.
She had made sure to check that all guards were on high alert this evening due to Michael's presence. She had double checked everything herself just to be sure. All had been secure and well guarded insuring Michael's utmost safety while he enjoyed a relaxing evening. That was why the news they received was concerning. Someone from a rival gang had infiltrated the premises right under their noses. That meant one or two things, the first was that someone was betraying Michael and allowing the enemy in, the second they needed to strengthen their guard. Either way there would need to be some changes made, and soon.
Stopping right at the elevator Michael furiously pressed the down button again and again, the clicking sound filled the hall around them. Summer wondered if the man honestly thought that that would make the elevator come any sooner.
From his silence and actions it was clear he was ready to take his fury out on her and couldn't wait to find somewhere private.
The anger rolling off of the man could freeze hell.
Gulping Summer put on a brave face and stepped up beside Michael just as the elevator door dinged open.
Michael didn't even give Summer the opportunity to enter on her own, with one quick motion he grabbed her and pushed with all his might sending Summer tumbling to the floor. As she rushed to stand Michael entered immediately pressing the door close button behind him.
"You bitch!" Michael snarled grabbing Summer by the collar of her shirt, pulling her close enough to feel his hot angry breath. "You did this on purpose right?"
"Even if I said no you wouldn't believe me." Summer calmly responded staring into Michael's blazing eyes defiantely.
The rage in his eyes was palpable as he processed what Summer had just said. As each word sunk in Michael's face turned redder and redder until all hell broke loose. With all his strength Michael slammed Summer against the elevator wall knocking the wind out of her.
Trying to catch her breath Summer couldn't defend herself before Michael was clamping his hand on her throat applying just enough pressure to where breathing had become uncomfortable.
"You think if you defy me enough I will release you, right?" He asked Voice full of Malice. "Think again sweetheart. I'd kill you before freeing you."
"Do it." Summer wheezed remaining completely calm. "I already.... almost died.... once. I no longer.... fear..... death."
Each word was so very painful for Summer to get out as with each passing minute Michael's hand was growing tighter and tighter around her throat.
If this continued the man may very well kill her.
The immediate sense of relief at that thought astounded Summer. She had had a bout of depression that had led her to trying to kill herself a few years back, but it hadn't even occurred to her that she still craved death until this very moment.
Laughing Michael suddenly let go of Summer's neck and watched with indifference as she collapsed before him gasping for breath.
"I won't allow you to get your wish." Michael snapped.
Sucking in lungfuls of air Summer remained silent.
"You will be the one to personally take care of the fly in here." Michael's words were cold as he spoke. "Otherwise you get to suffer the consequences."
Consequences, Summer had to keep herself from laughing. She knew all too well what the consequences would be. 50 lashings and then a stay in the hole. After suffering these exact consequences multiple times already due to her father and all his men, Summer was all but immune to the pain and the dark dingy cell right below her father's mansion.
"Do you hear me?!" Michael bellowed as Summer remained unmoved.
"Of course." Summer rasped out finally standing. "Am I killing him or questioning him?"
She fixed a blank stare on Michael as he mulled over her question.
"Question," he decided. "I want to know what gave him the courage to even step foot in here."
"As you wish."
Music blared in the club down below, the sound so loud it was giving Summer a splitting headache.
After watching the clubs security cameras she had identified the man and all but figured out his current location. Not being a VIP meant that he couldn't venture past the first floor of La Fiet, narrowing down possibilities or where he could be found.
Making a quick stop by the bar Summer grabbed a bottle of whiskey which had been prepared by one of Michael's men before pushing her way through the troves of grinding bodies all the while scanning dark corners for the man she was looking for.
After a couple of minutes Summer's eyes locked on a man sitting alone in the corner looking about anxiously. He sported a half open red Hawaiian shirt and khaki fedora on his head.
Found you.
Adjusting her dress, a baby blue long sleeved mini with a dipping v-neck, that Michael had insisted she wear she beelined for where the man sat.
Plastering a seductive smile on her face she prepared to begin the play.
"Mind if I join you?" She asked locking eyes with the man who had gone from looking anxious to looking hungry.
In the cameras she couldn't quite make out his features but now she was getting a good look. His green eyes slowly looked Summer up and down as his full lips that were surrounded by a goatee turned up in a smile revealing one gold front tooth.
"It would be my honor beautiful." The man said patting the seat beside him eagerly.
Cringing inwardly Summer obliged all the while continuing to smile.
"What brings you here all alone this evening?" He asked turning his body towards Summer.
"My boyfriend and I had a terrible fight." Summer pouted. "So I came to drink away my sorrows." She lifted the bottle she was holding for good measure.
"Seems his bad luck is my good fortune." The man beamed. "What's your name doll?"
"Amy." Summer responded feigning shyness.
Already locating two glasses Summer popped open the bottle of whiskey she carried and began pouring.
"Shall we toast to new acquaintances?" She asked holding out a glass to the man.
Smiling crudely he took his glass while allowing his fingers to rest much too long on Summer's own fingers.
"Can a small girl like you handle this strong of liquour?" He asked not trying to hide the hunger forming on his face.
Widening her eyes slightly she pretended to be alarmed. "You won't take advantage of me if I get too drunk right?
"Of course not babydoll."
Having to stop herself from gagging Summer watched as the man downed the alcohol in one fell swoop.
Smiling behind her glass she suddenly loosened her hand allowing her glass and its contents spill all over herself.
"Oh no!" Jumping up Summer pretended to be shocked and mortified. "I can't believe I just did that! Will you excuse me for just a sec while I go to the ladies room?"
"Sure." He responded.
Giving another crude smile the man pretended to lean back and relax.
If it was any other person he may have fooled them, but Summer knew better. She knew he would most likely follow her after she left and then try to corner her in the ladies room after.
She was banking on that so she could get him alone before the drug he had ingested kicked in.
True to form he followed, staying far enough away to remain unnoticed.
Smiling Summer decided instead of taking him into the bathroom she would go ahead and take him to the room where she planned on interrogating him.
Making a quick left turn she headed down a long hallway with red doors on either side. The dim overhead lights gave them a bloody glow.
Stopping by a room close to the end Summer slowly began turning the door knob looking up just in time to see the man now approaching her a malicious smile on his face.
"What a naive little kitten." He cooed. "Didn't your parents teach you to be wary of wolves?"
"No, they never taught me that." Summer's words dripped with sweetness.
"Too bad..." He stopped turning shocked eyes on Summer.
He never got the chance to complete his sentence as his eyes widened and he collapsed to the floor.
Stepping over him Summer's sweet smile turned to one full of triumph.
"I think you are the one who should have been taught better about fearing wolves."
As she spoke two men stepped out of the room that Summer was about to enter. They looked to her then the man now collapsed on the floor.
"Take him inside and tie him up to the chair will you?" Summer ordered.
Nodding the men grabbed the man by each of his arms easily lifting him like he was nothing more than a sack of flour and quickly carried him inside as he shot a slew of profanities at her.
Summer followed after making sure no one had spotted them.
A grimace crossed Summer's face as she took in the room around her. Although she had seen it many times, had even done many interrogations herself, she still couldn't get used to it.
The strong smell of disinfectant attacked her nose, as blinding light made her vision blur.
Already tied to a chair her victim sat in front of her, eyes wide in panic, muttering something incoherent under a piece of tape that had been put over his mouth.
The drug in his system caused paralysis so he was unable to move, however he was still able to speak and feel.
At his side sat a table with a pair of plyers, a switch blade, and a small whip strewn across it.
Summer wasn't the biggest fan of inflicting pain. She usually just stuck to prying teeth and fingernails, occasionally breaking fingers, or slowly slicing arms and legs until the person in front of her spilled everything she wished to know.
It was only in severe cases she would need to use the whip. She saved it for those special few who made it past losing all their teeth and nails, having all their fingers broken, and no longer had room to continue cutting, but still refused to speak.
In her whole time doing this she had only had to bring the whip out twice.
The images of after still sent chills down her spine and haunted her sleep.
Picking up the plyers Summer flashed the still muttering man a smile. "We can do this the easy way, or the hard way. Your choice."
Sauntering over she roughly pulled the tape from the man's mouth.
"Fuck you!" The man snapped spitting at Summer who was now in full interrogation mode.
Remaining silent Summer reached out a hand and grabbed the man's jaw. Shocked he attempted to keep his mouth shut but one of the men helping Summer had already handed her a device that she now held in front of his face.
"Either you open up or I break your jaw." She informed the man as he kept his mouth clamped tightly shut.
Summer's blue eyes that bore into the man's green ones remained emotionless as she allowed him to make his decision.
When he didn't move to open up she laid the device between his lips while securing it in place with a strap that attached at the back of his head. When she was sure it was nice and secure she began twisting a dial attached to it. Slowly the two plates sitting between the man's lips began to move apart, prying his mouth open ever so slightly.
She continued until it was open just enough for her to get her plyers inside and attached to one tooth.
"Sure you won't speak?" She asked.
Anger flashed in the man's eyes as he stared back at Summer with defiance.
"Have it your way then." She shrugged.
In one quick motion Summer yanked, blood splattered as she removed a tooth from his gum.
A guttural yell of pain left the man's lips as he stared in surprise at his tooth which was now being dropped into a metal pan.
"Now, let's try this again." Summer's voice was all business, not a single sign of empathy present. "Are you going to answer my questions?"
"I will talk." The man yelled, his eyes that were full of arrogance just a minute ago were now full of fear. "What do you want to know?"
Snapping her fingers Summer motioned for one of her guards to hand her a stack of papers that he had just returned with. She quickly skimmed over them before turning her blank stare back to the man in front of her.
"Jared Knight, 26 years old, born and raised in the area, joined Golden Ridge at the tender age of 16 after your dear older brother joined." Summer began reciting what she had just read. "Golden Ridge is well aware to stay away from La Fiet given this is The Dragon Guards turf, so please enlighten me, why are you here?"
"For fun." Jared snapped spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Stepping forward Summer remained silent as this time she clamped her plyers on Jared's pointer finger.
"One more chance." She murmured applying a small amount of pressure.
"F-for fun....AAAAHHHHH!" Jared let out a shriek as Summer snapped his finger. "You fucking bitch!!! When I get free just you wait."
"Sure, whatever you say." She shrugged.
How many times had she been told the same thing by countless other men?
Each one was the same, first they acted defiant refusing to take her interrogation seriously, then when Summer showed she wasn't playing games they would threaten her, what followed after more pain and torture were the answers she seeked.
It was all one long cycle that flowed together for her.
"Why are you here?" Summer asked again clamping down on Jared's middle finger.
"I can't say." Jared responded, worry beginning to become evident on his pale face.
"Wrong answer."
A snap filled the room as Summer broke Jared's middle finger, and it went on and on like that. Summer would ask her questions and break a finger each time Jared didn't give a proper response. It was only by the time she had completely broken all his fingers and was moving back to his teeth that he finally began singing like a canary.
"Men." Summer said afterwards turning to leave. "Take care of him."
The men nodded in response and began cracking their knuckles as they closed in on a now frantic Jared.
Exhausted and feeling numb Summer paid absolutely no heed to the man's pain filled screams or the sounds of bones Snapping behind her. Instead she simply headed out to find Michael so she could tell him exactly what she had discovered.
Summer's POV Summer returned home to find the mansion she shared with Michael devoid of all light. For the first time that evening she felt a sense of relief, even if it was only for a moment she could relax. If she was lucky Michael was already asleep and would be much easier to deal with the following morning after having time to cool down. Holding her breath she headed inside braced for the worst but hoping for the best. Heart plummeting she found Michael standing in front of their bay window staring out into the night. He was shirtless allowing Summer a glimpse of the intricate dragon tattoo on his back, the same tattoo that she herself had received after being forced into marrying Michael. A cup dangled from his fingers at his side, that was when Summer finally noticed the intense smell of alcohol permeating throughout the entire living room. Not only was Michael not asleep, but he was also most l
Asher's POV Half past Eleven Asher sat back in his desk chair and gave a mighty yawn. He hadn't been able to sleep very much after the events of the night before. No matter how much he tried to think nothing of it, Summer had looked much too shaken after speaking with whoever was behind their club room door. Michael had also looked pretty angry despite his blatant effort to hide it. Knowing whatever had happened was not his business it had still taken all of Asher's energy to not follow behind demanding to know what was going on. It had also drained him having to keep Gustavo and Stefen company until they too left in a flurry. By the time he and David had left that evening Asher had felt like he had run a marathon, his exhaustion was bone deep. The icing on the cake for the night had been how drunk David had gotten before they finally left. Being the good friend he was Asher had esc
Summer's POV "Where have you been?" Michael's cold voice was the first thing Summer heard when returning home. The man stood in the middle of the entryway arms crossed over his chest glaring at her as if she was a disobedient child. "Mr. Andrews asked to meet up to fine tune the contract we will be signing tomorrow." Summer responded while taking off her shoes. The last thing Summer wanted to do at the moment was deal with Michael's interrogation. Her heart was hurting and it was taking everything she had to remain calm and composed. The look on Asher's face when she told him that they were strangers had damn near killed her. Now all she wanted to do was shower and lay down, not deal with the very jealous man sitting before her. Still glaring Michael searched her face trying to find any sign of deceit. "Why didn't you mention it to me?" Sighing Summer walked up and wrapped her arms around Mic
Summer's POV The sun had long gone down and the moon had already risen when Summer and Michael arrived at Golden Ridges' head quarters. Using the cover of the night they had easily infiltrated the premises and were now staking out the front of a simple brick building with only one way in and out waiting for Gregory Noble, Golden Ridges' leader, to exit for the evening. Michael had made it clear prior to their arrival that they were to be as discreet as possible when it came time to take Gregory hostage. He wanted this mission to go quickly and smoothly. If anyone so much as made a sound to alert him they would be punished no questions asked. Although his men had been disappointed that violence wasn't their first option, they dared not disobey Michael's command and obediently remained nearby incase Summer and Michael needed back up, but far enough away that they wouldn't tip anyone off. Now, Summer sat watching as the me
Asher's POVMonday morning came much too slowly for Asher. Filled with anxiety and excitement he had spent the night tossing and turning. It was only when the sun began to rise that he gave up on sleep altogether and went for a run before showering and getting ready for the day.Unable to sit still for long he headed to work much earlier than usual, shocking the overnight guard, who looked about ready to fall over from exhaustion with his sudden appearance.Taking a mental note to speak with the man's supervisor later in regards to his lax disposition, Asher headed into the building. As Asher now paced in his office like a caged animal he anxiously waited for Michael and Summer's arrival to sign their finalized cooporation agreement.Initially he had been thrilled to see Summer, but as the time grew closer that excitement turned sour as he remembered what she had said to him the day before. He wasn't sure if he could calmly
Asher's POV For the next few days Asher busied himself in work to keep from thinking about the crazy woman Sarah's words. Anytime he would be idle they would replay again and again in his mind threatening to drive him mad. He would be lying to himself if he said he wasn't the slightest bit interested in what exactly it was she wanted from him. However, due to her manic behavior during their meet he knew getting involved with her would do nothing but bring him trouble. It was due to that realization each time temptation would start rearing its ugly head, a small voice in the back of his mind would remind him to forget it and find something else to keep himself occupied. However, as each day passed and the day of Summer's wedding grew closer, Asher found himself thinking of Sarah's words almost constantly and wondering if what she had to say involved being able to get Summer to leave Michael. The prospect of it was so ver
Asher's POVSarah had remained silent as they ate, insisting that it was best that they had their discussion afterwards over a few drinks. Due to her insistence Asher ate quickly paying no mind to the taste or look of whatever was on the plate in front of him."Slow down Asher, it won't run away." Sarah joked as she watched him eat as if this was his last meal.Swallowing Asher pushed his now empty plate away from him before lifting his gaze to meet Sarah's amused eyes."I was just famished." He argued even though his reasoning sounded weak even to him.Raising an eyebrow Sarah chuckled, "of course you were."As she spoke she wiped her mouth with a napkin and pushed her plate away as well indicating that she too was finished with her meal. Finally, Asher couldn't help feel anticipation begin to buzz through his body."You like Summer don't you?" Sarah asked suddenly, her words catching Asher
Summer's POV Summer stared up at the large white building Michael had just pulled up to with the glowing red word 'Emergency' illuminated on it. It was early Thursday morning and her father had insisted that he be picked up upon discharge by his daughter and future Son-in-law. Of course, there was no way that they could deny this request. "You ready" Michael asked cutting the engine of his vehicle and beginning to unbunkle. Summer gave a slight nod, "Yeah, I'm ready." Watching Michael exit Summer took a deepbreath to try to calm her rattled nerves. Her relationship with her biological father could be considered anything but great. He treated herlike a tool rather than a beloved daughter. After all, that was the only reason he even decided to acknowledge her and bring her to his side in the first place. If he hadn't found her useful who knew where she would be right now.
Asher's POVThe car Reggie was driving screeched to a stop in front of Jackson's house. The scene in front was that of a horror movie with all the ambulances and firetrucks that lined the streets and driveways. On the lawn ahead laid an unmoving woman that paramedics crowded around, while a foot away from her lay a body underneath a white sheet.Filling his heart begin to pound in his chest Asher jumped out of the car despite the yells of Reggie and Taylor, making his way quickly forward."SUMMER!" Asher yelled just as a police officer held out an arm to stop him from coming any closer. "LET ME GO!""I'm sorry but you can't move any closer." The police responded calmly while easily holding the frantic Asher back."Please!" Asher begged trying to break free. The longer Asher was held back by the officer the more his panic and fear grew. Everything about the scene he was watching was similar to that of six years ago.&n
Summer's POV "....How much....." The irrirated voice drifted to Summer through her hazy state. "......Longer..." As Summer began to come to she felt a chill run up her spine at the voices that were breaking through her hazy state. Memories of what had happened right before she blacked out began to drift to her as she slowly became aware. "Did you use too much electricity?" Michael demanded sounding ready to explode. "Does it really matter?" Jackson responded in annoyance. "Worst that happens the bitch dies, best she wakes up an idiot." Summer had to stop herself from laughing at her father's harsh words, neither man had noticed that she had woken up yet and she wanted to keep it that way. "The men will be here soon." Michael huffed, "If she doesn't wake up soon what good will she be for them?" "I'm sure they'd enjoy even if she was asleep." Jackson chuckled. No longer able to remain calm Summer shot
Summer's POV "Leave them out of this." Summer hissed keeping her gaze fixed on her father. "This is between us and neither one have anything to do with this." "Son?" The word could just be heard through the earpiece Summer was wearing. "Did he just say son?" Trying to ignore the chaos that was beginning to break out on the other side of the line Summer watched as Jackson began to move towards her. "But they do." He said now laughing. "Had neither existed then you wouldn't have been disobedient. You would have listened to everything I said and been a good submissive daughter." "I wouldn't have been submissive even if they didn't exist." Summer pointed out in disgust. "People aren't tools you can use as you please." "Oh aren't they?" Jackson countered as he closed the distance between them. "Everyone is a dispensable tool to me." Summer didn't have enough time to react as Jackson produced a taz
"What's the plan dad?" Reggie asked once everyone was settled and ready to listen. "Better be a good one." "I think we should have Summer purposely give herself away." Vincent explained. "ARE YOU INSANE!" Reggie yelled hitting the table. "Are you going insane in your old age?" "Hear him out." Summer murmured piqued by Vincent's suggestion. "What do you have in mind?" "I have some people on the inside that Jackson still isn't aware of." Vincent continued to explain. "They can keep us updated on what is happening with Summer and help us get on the inside." "But what if he hurts her?" Asher demanded taking Reggie's side on thinking the old mans plan wasn't the best. "Could you let him finish please." Summer snapped shutting up the two men. "Vincent please continue." "As I was saying," Vince grumbled, "we can let her get on the inside...." "DAD!" Reggie bellowed cutting the man off again.
Summer waited until Asher was fully asleep before she snuck out of the room and headed towards the common room of the Wilson's hideout to find the twins and their father still awake and deep in discussion. From the looks on their faces, it was clear that whatever they were talking about was pretty serious.Noticing Summer's presence they lifted their heads and fixed their eyes on her as she made her way towards them."What's up?" Summer asked as she reached. "I didn't mean to disrupt you.""It's no big deal." Reggie quickly said. "This involves you too anyway.""Oh yeah?" Summer asked sitting down beside Vincent. "What's going on?""Your father called." Vincent said slowly weighing Summer's reaction to this news. "He wants to have a meeting with you.""With me?" Summer repeated. "Did he say when?""Tomorrow." Reggie respoded as his face darkened. "You can't possibly be planning on going."
"You've grown some balls Summer." Allen whistled after Summer finished telling her story.During her tale Asher had managed to get an arm around her pulling her to sit on the bed beside him. Even after she had obliged he hadn't removed the arm, making it clear he was showing her emotional support. Summer appreciated the notion, but the looks she was recieving from everyone in the room due to it was a little much for her."It was a long time comin' if you think about it." Reggie pointed out in Summer's defense. "Should she just has stuck around with Michael all her life?"At the mention of Michael's name Asher's arm tightened around Summer's waist a movement that went unnoticed to everyone except Summer."I think she should have gone about this smarter." Allen countered shooting Reggie a look. "To do it this way, this was just asking to die.""She was almost killed before this!" Asher who had remained quiet until now snapped.
"Are you sure it is safe to move him?" Summer asked as Reggie and Taylor began lifting Asher off of his hospital bed. Wincing Asher tried to feign being okay, but by the look of pain on his face it was easy to tell that he was hurting. Summer couldn't help but blame herself as she watched, she was sure the exertion from earlier hadn't helped matters, even if he seemed fine during, it didn't mean that he actually was. "Stop being a worried mother." Reggie chuckled as he and Taylor began to move towards the exit. "Your man's going to be just fine." "He isn't...." Summer began only to stop mid sentence with a look from Asher. With everything that had been going on Summer wasn't entirely sure what they were. They hadn't set any particular label and they hadn't even really discussed anything. To her they were just two people who were sleeping together, but she didn't know what Asher thought. Shaking his head Reggie let out a
The sun had fully gone down by the time Summer rolled away from Asher gasping for breath. For a man who had been severely beaten and had even had surgery he was still so full of energy. Despite Summer attempting to stop him and insisting he needed rest he just couldn't be satiated."Are you okay?" Asher asked turning his head to look at Summer. "Was that too much?""I should be asking you that." Summer countered still trying to catch her breath. "You're a patient after all.""Minor wounds." Asher insisted reaching towards Summer again."No more." Summer said sternly swatting Asher's hand away. "You need to focus on recovery.""I think I've shown that I'm just fine." Asher pointed out."Be serious please." Summer insisted sitting up and scooting to the edge of the hospital bed.She wasn't sure how long it would take for the doctor to come back and take a look at Asher, but she didn't want to be caught comp
"Are you done?" Asher asked as Summer's tears finally dried up.Nodding Summer sniffled, "Yeah, sorry about that."Feeling embarassed she tried not to look at Asher. She couldn't believe that she had just spent all that time crying like a baby while the person that should be crying watched."Don't say sorry." Asher muttered as he attempted to smile. "Especially to me.""But..." Summer tried only to be stopped by Asher shaking his head."I told you that you aren't the one to blame for this." He repeated sternly. "You tried to keep me away and I was the stubborn one that refused.""None of this is fair to you." Summer sighed. "I should have never let you get involved.""Too late for that now." Asher pointed out. "And even if we repeated the same situation I would have made the same choices all over again.""Why are you so kind?" Summer asked sitting up to look into Asher's eyes. "I don't
