Few Days ago.
In a confined room filled with eerie creaking sounds—mostly from the rats roaming about—the air was heavy and stale. The small window served as the only source of ventilation. The room was devoid of any decorations, its old paint peeling off the walls, creating a haven for bugs and ants. The only significant items in the room were a worn chair, an old table, and a wardrobe—seemingly the most prized possession of whoever occupied this abandoned space.
It was the very early hours of the morning, and a young girl lay on the bed, her thick black hair spilling over the mattress. She was utterly exhausted from the previous day’s work. She had barely been asleep for four hours when a sudden splash of water drenched her body. Jolted awake, Aurora gasped, her heart pounding as though she had been ripped from a terrifying nightmare. She tried to return to the bed, but another basin of ice-cold water came crashing down on her, forcing her to jerk upright.
Her wide eyes brimmed with fear. She had overslept. Falling to her knees instantly, a sob broke from her lips.
“You ungrateful bitch of a child!” a thunderous voice roared. “What are you still doing on the bed at this time of the morning? Who do you think will get the grains sieved and ground, huh? You wolf-less girl, my shame and disgrace! Get up and prepare the pack’s breakfast!”
The woman's harsh words echoed throughout the room. Aurora scrambled out of the room without a word, her movements sluggish as she headed toward the pack's kitchen. The darkness of the early morning engulfed her surroundings. It was far too early for most werewolves to awaken, but Aurora was an omega. She had no right to voice her thoughts or complain. If she did, she might be sent to the Red Moon pack’s mines—a fate worse than death.
Sometimes, Aurora dreamed of escaping her cruel reality. She prayed not to be mated to a vicious wolf who would treat her as nothing more than a burden. She always dream about her mate. Hoping that he would take her away from this hardship and torture. She always pray to the moon goddess to bless her with a mate that would accept her for who she is as she was wolfless. Being wolfless was a cruel fate she would never wish upon anyone.
The path to the kitchen was dimly lit, and the darkness unnerved her. As she whispered to herself, “It must be around four in the morning,” she approached the unlit kitchen, her steps faltering when a strong hand suddenly yanked her into the shadows.
“Help! Help!” she screamed, struggling against the unknown assailant. But her cries were muffled as a rough hand clamped over her mouth. The figure dragged her into a nearby storeroom, slamming the door shut. With a heavy force, Aurora’s back collided against the wall. Pain shot through her, but she kept struggling until a sharp slap left her stunned and breathless.
“Quiet,” a deep voice hissed, silencing her completely.
Through the dim light filtering into the room, Aurora recognized her captor. It was none other than Kael, the alpha’s son. Soon to inherit his father Alpha Rowan’s title, Kael was infamous for his arrogance and cruelty. Despite his privileged upbringing, Kael had failed to find a mate. He often lashed out at those beneath him, with Aurora being his favorite target.
“What can I do for you, Alpha Kael?” Aurora whispered, trying to keep her voice steady.
Kael smirked, leaning in to cage her against the wall. His piercing green eyes seemed to burn into her soul. “Wolf-less omega,” he began with a sneer, “I didn’t expect you to fight back earlier. You’ve got some nerve.”
He leaned even closer, his voice dropping to a sinister tone. “Soon, the mating ceremony will begin. But we both know no one would ever want a wolf-less omega like you.”
Aurora’s heart raced as Kael continued, “Why don’t we have a little fun before the ceremony, hmm? Consider it a gift. I could spare you from being rejected by your mate and sent to the mines. All you have to do is submit.”
Aurora’s body shook with rage and fear as she listened to his vile words. “Over my dead body,” she spat, summoning all her courage.
Kael’s face twisted with fury. “How dare you!” he roared, striking her with such force that she crashed against the wall.
Aurora groaned in pain as Kael loomed over her. “You think you can defy me? You’re nothing but a worthless omega!” His fists rained down on her, each blow more brutal than the last. Aurora’s body crumpled to the floor, her vision darkening.
Kael knelt beside her limp form, gripping the hem of her dress. “You should’ve just obeyed,” he growled.
Summoning the last of her strength, Aurora glared up at him. “I’d rather die than let you touch me.”
Kael’s eyes darkened with murderous intent. “Then so be it,” he snarled, delivering one final, devastating blow that sent Aurora into unconsciousness.
Kael stood over her motionless body, his chest heaving. “Let this be a lesson,” he muttered. Opening the door, he glanced down the hall to ensure no one had witnessed his crime. With a cruel smirk, he disappeared into the shadows, leaving Aurora to her fate.
“Why is Aurora not here preparing the food for the full moon sacrifice? The grains to be cooked are not yet ready! What has she been doing since I woke her from her disgusting sleep?”A woman with black hair flying wildly around her face shouted angrily. She was furious because nothing had been done that morning. As the omega of the pack, Aurora was expected to help the servants prepare meals, but it was her job to wake up first—even before the other servants. Breakfast was a significant and sacred meal in the Red Moon Pack, and delays were unacceptable.Just as Delilah, the woman, was about to unleash more of her frustration, two young girls—almost identical in appearance to Aurora—entered the kitchen. Their resemblance to her made it obvious they were her sisters, but the glaring difference was that they weren’t omegas or wolf-less. Aurora seemed cursed to be different—not just from her sisters but from the entire Red Moon Pack.“I saw a body lying down in the storeroom. I don’t kno
The gasp shook Aurora to the core. Kael was a masterful liar, and she knew she wouldn’t escape this torment. No one would save her—not even Mrs. Flora, the chef. The only person who cared about her.“But being the alpha's son, and trying to be responsible, I tried talking sense into her head,” Kael said, his voice turning solemn. “I made her understand that I couldn’t do such a thing—not when I haven’t even found my mate. I’m saving myself for her.”Kael’s words dripped with false sincerity as he glanced at Aurora, his expression now a facade of sadness and bitterness. Aurora’s vision blurred as her rage and disbelief boiled within her. He was a good actor, too good.“But she insisted,” Kael continued, feigning discomfort. “She behaved as if she were in heat, though she has no mate and certainly isn’t mine.”The audience murmured in disgust, their expressions darkening as Kael spun his web of lies. Aurora’s heart sank further as she realized no one would side with her.“And what happe
Running to her room felt like running straight into hell. From the moment Aurora stepped out of the kitchen, laughter followed her, echoing in her ears like the sound of her misery. Finally reaching the small, cold confines of her room, she quickly locked the door behind her. She stumbled toward her bed, collapsing onto it like a broken doll. A soft whimper escaped her lips, but soon it grew into heavy sobs, loud and raw, breaking the eerie silence of the room. She was utterly alone. The only person who had ever loved her was her father, and he had been taken from her when she was just a child—killed by vampires during one of their brutal raids.“God, I’m so tired... I’m so tired of living,” she whispered hoarsely, sliding to her knees. Her sobs grew heavier, racking her small frame as the weight of Kael’s lies pressed down on her. Why had he done this? Why hadn’t he just killed her outright? Keeping her alive seemed to be nothing but a cruel game to torment her.A dangerous thought c
"Sorry for not saying it earlier, the men we sent were disguised as rogues. Their scent was hidden away from the reach of the vampires, so they cannot discover their real identity," Beta Mark explained. He knew how ferocious King Draven could be. The vampire king was a wild beast, fiercely protective of what was his."Good, very good. So, we have enough food for the sacrifice to the goddess and the celebration for the full moon," Alpha Rowan said, relieved that the pack was safe from the hands of King Draven."Yes, my king. Concerning the coronation of your son to ascend the throne and rule after you... I don't think he will be capable enough to take over. He does not have a strong enough hand to govern the people. He only shows empathy to those he hates and love for those he favors. He will be a partial king," Michael, one of the quiet elders, remarked. He had been observing everything that happened in the Red Moon pack.A loud growl echoed through the room, drawing everyone's attent
It was something she never wanted to happen now. Not now, never, not in a situation like this. As she perceived the heart-breaking scent of fresh dust and blueberry, she realized she had found her mate. She was too shaken to know who it was. So scared, so afraid. She was not yet ready to be thrown into a mine."Seems the goddess has blessed you with a mate," Tanya said, seeing the way both mates reacted to their new discovery.Aurora mentally shook her head. This was not a blessing, as Tanya had stated. It was a curse. A curse for her to have a mate, because it was the beginning of her hardship. She would rather remain mateless than be mated to anyone in the pack."Look up, Aurora. Why don't you look up to know who your mate is?" Tanya said, a smile appearing on her face. Aurora knew she would have to look up, and so she did. Looking up at her mate, the one who would make her or break her. Who she saw was terrible. She despised who she saw. It was no other person than Kael Vincent! Di

She would rather remain mateless than be mated to anyone in the pack."Look up, Aurora. Why don't you look up to know who your mate is?" Tanya said, a smile appearing on her face. Back to the present Day.Aurora opened her eyes, her eyelids heavy. All she saw was darkness clouding her vision. Slowly, she blinked, and as her eyes adjusted, she stared at the ceiling. The sight was strange to her. Was she perhaps in a better realm, free from Kael and her pack? She looked around, capturing every detail around her: a wardrobe, a large screen TV, a beautiful floor. Then she looked up and saw a large portrait on the wall. A man. Not just any man—he was handsome. His eyes were pure dark, no trace of white, and they seemed to dare her to stop staring. An indescribable feeling swept through her body, something she couldn’t understand. Then she heard a voice—a man’s voice. It was so high-pitched that she could hear it from where she lay. No doubt, he was shouting at someone.Suddenly, the door opened, and a man stepped into the room, followed by a woman."Do not tell me what to do, Mother," the man snapped. "Thanks to the gods, Asama survived my bites. But just because sh
"Send me Kane, I need information about who those damn fucking werewolves were," Draven said, walking towards his office."What are your plans?" Carlos asked, following after him, but not failing to send Kane a message that the King demands his attention."I need to know who those damn motherfuckers are. Who dared lay their disgusting hands on my mate? She is so damn scared of me, so damn scared of her mate, and I feel like ripping you apart if you keep asking me those questions. Now where is Kane?" Draven asked, walking towards his chair. He slumped down in it, cradling his head in his hands. He had a damn pounding headache, but he didn’t care.Carlos kept silent for a while, not knowing what to say. Obviously, he was scared of the King’s last statement. Without being told, he knew the King would no doubt exterminate his words."He’ll be here in a short while," Carlos said, standing a few feet away from the King. He had a mate, he knew what it felt like to have one, but he wasn’t exp
It was going to be difficult—almost impossible—to find the particular observatory she was being held in. Definitely difficult. The only way to track her down was to use his powers, and right now, he was already weak to the core. But he had no other option.Closing his eyes, Draven took a deep breath. He needed to focus, to listen—to pick up the faintest sound of her breathing. His head throbbed with exhaustion, but he pushed through the pain. Then, he heard it.A noise. Slow and melodic.A heartbeat.Light but quick, the rhythm pounded in his head, guiding him like a beacon. The sound was coming from an observatory not far from where he stood."Draven!"A tiny voice whispered into his mind, weak but familiar. His eyes snapped open. Without hesitation, he turned left. There it was—the observatory. It was the weakest structure among the surrounding buildings, its walls barely holding together.Summoning what little strength he had left, he shot forward, his vampire speed propelling him
The cunning voice echoed through the dimly lit chamber, dripping with mockery.Aurora felt herself freeze at the words. Her mistakes were catching up to her, returning with twice the force. This was something the king should never hear from someone else."What? Wow! So, I was right, then? Your second mate has no idea you once had a first mate? This is absolutely insane! Well, don’t worry. I’ll do you a favor and let King Draven know myself."Aurora’s heart pounded against her ribs. A chill ran down her spine."Please, no! I beg you—don’t tell him!" she pleaded desperately. She had planned to tell the king herself—if she ever made it out of this miserable hole she was tied up in.Laughter erupted from the unseen figure, sharp and cruel."Hahaha! Why? You don’t want the king to think you’re disgusting? You don’t want him to see you as filthy, unworthy?" The voice grew more venomous. "Well, I do. I want him to despise you. I want him to look at you with nothing but hatred. And that’s why
The black market was no place for the weak. It was a dangerous and unpredictable territory where vampires sought rare and forbidden goods—things they would never find in ordinary markets. Only the strongest and most ruthless vampires were granted entry, and now, his mother had brought his mate to a place as perilous as this.King Draven clenched his jaw, his fury simmering beneath the surface as he scanned the marketplace. It wasn’t difficult to locate Carlos. Three black SUVs idled in the center of the market, waiting for his arrival. As Draven moved through the crowd, the other vampires instinctively bowed their heads in submission. It was rare—almost unheard of—to see the Vampire King in a black market. His presence alone was enough to demand respect.Lilith, his mother, shivered beneath his gaze. He could tell she was terrified. Draven was dangerously close to losing control, his anger boiling just beneath the surface. Every fiber of his being wanted to rip her apart for what she
Silo stared at King Draven in disbelief. He couldn't comprehend what he had just heard. The vampire king was planning to make contact with a werewolf—an act that directly violated long-standing laws."I'm sorry to say this, King Draven, but you're breaking the rule. Vampires are forbidden from associating with werewolves," Silo said, his voice laced with concern. He wondered if the king had lost his mind.Draven's eyes darkened as he fixed Silo with a piercing glare. "I am the king. I make the rules. Do you understand me?"Silo immediately lowered his head in submission. "Yes, King Draven. I apologize."Draven studied him for a moment before shifting his attention to the second letter that had been delivered to him. His fingers traced the wax seal before he carefully broke it open. As his eyes scanned the parchment, he realized the letter bore no address—no sign of its sender."What is this?" he muttered, his curiosity quickly turning to dread as he read its contents.A letter for the
The door to King Draven’s office swung open abruptly, revealing Carlos, his second-in-command. His usually composed demeanor was shaken, and his breathing was labored, as if he had sprinted all the way there.“We have a problem, King Draven,” Carlos announced, striding toward the king’s desk.Draven’s piercing gaze locked onto Carlos, his expression unreadable. “What kind of problem?”Carlos swallowed hard before speaking. “A body was discovered in the secret hall.”Draven’s expression darkened, his jaw tightening as fury flickered in his crimson eyes. “A dead body? In my castle?” His voice was low and dangerous, his anger barely contained. How dare anyone violate his sanctuary and commit murder within these walls?Carlos nodded grimly. “It was a human. The victim was shot—silencer rounds to the chest and forehead. Whoever did this knew how to move undetected. No one saw or heard anything. I’ve already ordered an interrogation of every guard stationed near the hall.”Carlos’ hands tre
Aurora and Queen Lilith sat on the front balcony, knitting together. The cool breeze carried a sense of calm, but Aurora found herself momentarily lost in thought. This morning’s events still lingered in her mind—particularly the doctor and her deceit.“What did the Vampire King say about the gift you gave him?” Queen Lilith asked, her hands moving skillfully as she worked on her knitting.Aurora paused, almost forgetting about the incident. She let out a small sigh. “He hasn’t said anything,” she replied, continuing to knit a new garment for herself.“Why not? The cardigan is beautiful. I see no reason why he wouldn’t appreciate such a thoughtful gift,” the queen said, glancing at Aurora with curiosity.“He never acknowledged it because he doesn’t know I made it,” Aurora admitted, closing her eyes for a moment. That morning, King Draven had confronted her in his own way, demanding the truth, yet she had been unable to explain.Queen Lilith frowned. “What do you mean?”“The doctor,” A
"You wouldn’t have done that."Aurora's voice wavered as she spoke. She couldn't believe something like this had happened between them again. No matter how much she tried to deny it, there was no escaping what they felt for each other."Oh? And what should I have done instead?" Draven smirked, his tone teasing. "Left you wanting? Needing my touch?" He took slow, deliberate steps toward the large table in his room, picking up a piece of clothing that rested upon it. Bringing it to his nose, he inhaled deeply, sighing."I can’t believe Bella made a cardigan like this." He ran his fingers over the fabric, admiring the intricate pattern.Aurora clenched her fists at her sides. The doctor was a terrible liar. She shut her eyes tightly, swallowing down the cry threatening to escape her lips."Is something wrong?" Draven asked, watching her closely.Aurora quickly shook her head and rose to her feet. "Nothing," she murmured, striding toward the door. Pausing, she turned back to face him. "I’
"Thank you for the birthday gift. It looks lovely."Aurora heard King Draven respond to the mysterious woman in the room with him. Her heart clenched. What cardigan were they talking about? She had also made a cardigan for the king. She never expected anyone else to give him such a ridiculous gift for his birthday.Stepping back, she hesitated. There was no way she was going to enter the room now. The king already had a woman with him. The thought sent a sharp sting through her chest.Just as she turned to leave, the door swung open. A woman with long, thick hair stepped out, followed closely by King Draven."The she-wol—""In my chambers, My Star."Draven cut the woman off and, without hesitation, strode toward Aurora. Before she could react, he grabbed her and pulled her into the room, slamming the door shut in Bella’s face.Draven walked to the table, his gaze fixed on Aurora. She stood there, her expression twisted in frustration."You look upset," he remarked, watching her finge
Aurora's eyes snapped open. She blinked rapidly, adjusting to the dim morning light filtering through the tall windows. The air was crisp, carrying the distant chirping of birds outside. She sat up quickly, her heart pounding. The room was empty. She pressed her palms against her forehead, squeezing her eyes shut. She needed to remember what had happened last night. The memories felt fragmented, like shattered glass piecing itself together. Then, it hit her.A sharp gasp escaped her lips as she recalled every detail. There was no way she could forget. The previous night, King Draven had been the one who was drunk—not her. But what had she done?Aurora groaned, rolling over the plush bed, clutching the sheets tightly. A wave of anxiety crashed over her. Had she really done something like that with him?"What the hell have I done?" she muttered, gripping the pillow and smacking it against the bed in frustration.A sudden voice broke through her thoughts."What are you doing, attacking a
