Ciara's POV
I opened the garage door to the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. “Goooood afternoon my big sexy daddy. Did you miss your baby girl?” I sing to my shiny dark blue custom-made Yamaha sports bike with all the latest accessories. I purr at it as I run my index finger down the center of the bike to the sleek black leather seat.
‘CJ, there is something definitely wrong with you.’ my wolf, Ember, shakes her large furry reddish-brown head in disgust as she turns to lay down near the back of my mind. I laugh as I straddle onto my bike. I love it when Ember calls me by my nickname—CJ for Ciara Joy.
I slid my full-face helmet over my head because safety first, then I put on my aviator sunglasses because awesomeness second. I popped the switch and let the engine roar to life between my thighs. The vibrations of the engine fill my entire body with joy. My thighs tighten around the leather seat bringing a giddy smile to my lips. I let out a soft moan, kick the kick-stand then head out of the driveway to zoom my way towards the packhouse.
For the next twenty minutes, I allow the feeling of freedom to wash over me. Yes, I am content in my life, but I am also bound to the limitations set by the Alpha and my father, the Beta, just like a cage.
I was not born in the Crystal Lake Pack nor is the Beta family my birth family. I originally was The Dark Alpha’s pet. Number 399.
“My pet.” The deep laugh of the Dark Alpha still haunts my dreams. My time in a lab, the sounds of machines beeping as it tracks the rhythmic beating of my heart, the sting of the injections in my arms and legs, even the pain from the beatings I endured remain with me at all times. The endless screaming from other shifters, then the sudden sound of silence when the experiment went wrong, still haunts my nightmares. Shivers run down my spine as I think about those long-ago memories.
Over the years as the Dark Alpha’s pet, I became a scientifically and magically altered therianthrope. A multi-shifter. Wolf, bear, owl, mouse and fox. The blood from the original animal shifters and their animal counterparts’ souls are laced into my DNA alongside my Wolf, Ember, infusing them together.
The Dark Alpha created the perfect controllable weapon to conquer other races and anoint himself as Alpha King. However, his untimely death by the hand of Alpha Radar brought an end to his reign.
I park my motorcycle in the warrior designated parking lot off to the side of the Packhouse. The four-story building is designed like an old log cabin resort. The Alpha family live on the fourth floor. The second and third floor are guest rooms and suites, but the rest of the building is like a rec center for the pack. Pack members can enjoy a meal in the dining hall, watch movies or play games in the media center. Attached to the packhouse is our ballroom where pack meetings and special events are held. My favorite place is the library that’s located near the back of the building close to the woods.
I enter through the front oak double doors and greet a few of the Omegas’ dusting and sweeping the main entrance. Omegas are in charge of the day-to-day work like cooking, cleaning and maintenance of the pack so the Alpha and Luna can handle more important things like training and education.
I look around and see Luna Rosaline is sitting in the lounge area in one of the big comfy couches with a book in her lap, reading to a group of small children who are sitting crossed legs on the carpet all around her. I smile at the scene. She is such a kind and beautiful Luna. Her flawless, tanned skin and cat-like eyes give her that 50s Hollywood movie star look.
She must be reading Treasure Island. I say to my wolf as I take a moment to peek in and listen. Luna Rosaline is holding up her arm as if she’s holding a sword and reading the words in her best pirate voice. The kids are completely glued to her every word. Several of the little girls squeal nervously while the boys puff their chests out to show no fear when she gets to the part where Jim is hiding in the apple barrel listening to Long John Silver’s evil plans.
“Don’t keep him waiting, Miss Callaway.” Luna Rosaline must have sensed my presence even without lifting her eyes from the book.
I roll my eyes and head towards the Alpha’s office, but not before I make a quick detour for the kitchen for a water bottle and some sort of salty snacky goodness.
‘I saw that eye roll…’ Luna Rosaline mind-links me as I am walking away.
‘Sorry, Luna.’ I mind-linked back. I swear she must have eyes in the back of her head. There is no way she saw that!
I walk into the large commercial kitchen where all the pack’s meals are prepared and grab a snack. Several Omegas eye me wearily. “Just grabbing a snack.” I say, but they just return to their work without a word.
Through the passthrough doorway, I see someone sitting in the bar lounge. I take a peek in and find the Gamma’s daughter, Hazel Summers, perched on one of the metal bar stools with her laptop open to what looks like Luna ceremony etiquette. She’s sipping a glass of iced tea as she looks at the screen.
“Hi, Hazel.” I say as I come over and sit down next to her.
She turns her gaze to me with her bright blue eyes and award-winning smile, then frowns after eyeing my appearance. “O…M… G… Girl… What are you wearing?! You look like a 1980s Muppet wanna-be.” Her voice echoes through the empty bar.
“Better a Muppet than a Barbie.” I tease. After a split-second pause, we both half smile at each other like this is a normal everyday greeting between us. We grew up together and have always been polar opposites, which doesn’t really affect our semi-cordial banter. We aren’t really friends, but we aren’t enemies either and we are definitely not besties. We are kind to one other and get along fine during important pack meetings, just like the Beta and Gamma daughters are supposed to.
Hazel flips her long blonde hair over her shoulder before returning to her work. Her bright pink manicure nails tap and scroll over the keys with a clicking noise.
I take in her outfit of the day—a hot pink skin tight halter top dress that fits her runway model body to perfection. It shows off what male wolves go crazy over—perky boobs and tiny waist. The dress ends right below her butt, leaving her long legs exposed for all to see. At 5 foot 10, she doesn’t need any more height, but she still wears 5-inch heels to accentuate her lean body, which what I wouldn’t give to add a few inches to my 5’5 inch height.
She may be a high-maintenance and a mommy and daddy’s spoiled little girl, but looks can be deceiving. At 17 years old, Hazel is one of the most loved, soon-to-be high-ranking she-wolves in our pack. She is the Valedictorian of her senior class this year and was voted the most likely to succeed she-wolf in school. She is on the debate team, editor of the school newspaper, and even on the student council. She is the picture-perfect Gamma’s daughter. Her sweet and caring personality is like a magnet for everyone she is around. She even volunteers her time to help Luna Rosaline when she’s busy with other pack duties.
“Um, Hazel?” I ask timidly, looking over her shoulder in curiosity as I rip open a small bag of potato chips. “Whatcha up too?” There were stacks of Luna ceremony dress magazines and colorful swatch books scattered all around her. A jumble of different colored cloth napkins, business cards from vendors, and a book about table dinner settings were haphazardly strewn behind her laptop. She even wrote out a list of different types of flowers and their meanings according to the moon cycle. Why is she looking at Luna's ceremony stuff? I wonder. She’s not even 18 for a few more days! Nor does she know who her mate will be…
She continues to tap on the keys as she scrolls through the page without looking at me. “Don’t you have a meeting with the Alpha and Beta?” she asks, completely ignoring my question.
“Shit!” I whisper as I sprint out of the bar and down the long hallway to the black wooden door of the Alpha’s office. Before I could knock, I heard the deep booming voice of Alpha Radar behind thick wood. “You kept me waiting… AGAIN!” Alpha hearing… for goddess’s sake… Starting the meeting on the wrong foot already. Go ME!!! I sarcastically cheered at myself.
Ciara's POV I push open the door and slip in to find the two most powerful men in our pack standing behind the large wooden oak desk - Beta Leon and Alpha Radar.Alpha Radar gestures for me to take a seat on the leather couch as he takes his seat at his desk while my father, Beta Leon, stands off to the side behind the Alpha’s desk. I scanned the room realizing there are more people in this meeting than I thought would be here. Besides Alpha Radar and Beta Leon, Alpha Radar’s son and future Alpha of the pack, James and Noah, who is my brother and future beta, are present for the meeting. Even the Head Warrior and my trainer, Maximo is leaning on the far wall waiting. All eyes staring at me! A towering group of 6’ foot tall werewolves and suddenly, I’m feeling like a cooked lamb chop on a dinner plate. Waiting to be devoured.“Ciara,” Alpha Radar’s eyebrows furrowed in annoyance. “I see you had time for a… snack?” He paused momentarily before looking down at my shirt.I follow his ga
Ciara's POV I look at them in shock. Then, my mouth moves before my brain can catch up to stop me. “Wait… Isn’t Alpha Mars… like ancient old?”Behind me, I can hear Noah and James burst out laughing. “No! Muttonhead, he just turned 28 last month.” Noah pokes me in the back of the head.“Well… The rumors make him sound like he’s been around the battlefield block a time or two. Plus, Hazel will just turn 18, so that’s a pretty significant age gap,” I say annoyed as I cross my arms in frustration at being called names. “And I’m not a muttonhead, you single-brain cell monkey.”I whisper the last part because I don’t want our father hearing me, but no luck. Our father growls at us to stop acting childish. ‘You are 25 and 20 and you are the representatives of our Beta family. Act your age!’ He minds-links us privately. My mind instantly went to act your age not your shoe size, but this time I was smart enough not to sing that out loud.“You know very well that werewolves treat age differen
Ciara's POV A few seconds tick by, and then it hits me like a tidal wave. “NO!” I yell standing to my feet; making a sweeping look around the room at all the men who are staring at my outburst. I move towards the Alpha’s desk. “You promised me!” I slam my palms down onto the wood surface as my body begins to shake. My dark gray smokey eyes begin to shift to black as Ember works her way to the surface. She is angry just as much as I am because she was hoping to find her mate. Alpha Radar slowly stands up from his chair and towers over me, matching my position with clenched fists on the desk. Using his alpha aura to keep me in his control, he forces me to look into his eyes as he speaks. His wolf, Delta, flashing in his eyes. “Ciara, you will have to understand; you can’t go to the festivities now. No one can know about you and your abilities. Very few know already, and we want to keep it that way. If the Royals find out that you were created by the Dark Alpha, they will think you are
Ciara's POV “Alpha if I may offer up a suggestion?” A smooth deep voice breaks the momentary silence from the corner of the room; we all turn to look at the sudden interruption. It was Maximo. I completely forgot he was here in the meeting. He’s usually quiet during meetings unless he has some valid point to make, and then everyone stops to listen.Maximo leaned against the wall, his arms crossed over his broad chest in a nonchalant manner, acting as if this meeting was completely pointless. He has a bad-boy rockstar meets classic Cary Grant look about him. Devilishly handsome smile, dark hair and eyes, tall and built like a Greek god.Alpha Radar nods for him to continue.“Why not allow CJ to be at the important parts of all the events but in her owl form? She can sit in the banquet hall rafters or in the surrounding trees, view the events, but stay out of sight, even if it’s just for speeches and important moments. There will be enough warriors on patrol, and you decided to cut dow
Alpha Radar’s POVI watch as Ciara, Noah, James, and Maximo leave my office one by one after that horrible meeting we just had, leaving my Beta and me to sit in silence.“Well, that didn’t go so well, but I knew it wouldn’t.” I say as I rise from my chair, head over to the liquor cabinet, and pour myself and Leon each a glass of whiskey.“Did you have to use the cuff on her?” Beta Leon said, glaring at me in annoyance. “You said you would never use it to command her against her will.”I huff at Leon but what can I say? I knew if I didn’t use the cuff to control her rage then she probably would have snuck into the events, and I couldn’t have that.“I didn’t have much of a choice… Ciara is so head-strong when she wants to be.” I trail off.Beta Leon chuckles. “Don’t I know it! I raised that girl since we found her in the lab. She is the most absent-minded, stubborn, loving, and unique young lady I have ever had the privilege to know. When she gets an idea in her head, she doesn’t let it
Ciara's POV Once at the library, I threw myself onto my favorite lumpy oversized bean bag chair that’s against the wall-to-wall windows in the back of the library. The windows stretch from one end to the other, offering a breathtaking view of the magnificent Crystal lake that our pack is proudly named after. With my face buried in the cozy fabric, I couldn't help but emit a muffled grumble. I lazily rested my arms on either side of me, closed my eyes, and surrendered to my sulky mood.‘Another promise broken…’ I comment to my wolf.Ember scoffs.‘The other spirit animals agree this sucks’, she growls back.Ember is the only one who can communicate with my other animal counterparts. I have tried multiple times to link them even in different forms, but with no success. The only thing I can do is call upon them at will and shift between them. When I was younger, I asked my wolf if my other animal forms had names, hoping that knowing what to call them would make them my friends, just lik
Ciara's POV I collect my stuff and the new book before swiftly leaving the two love birds behind. I head out of the packhouse to where my bike is parked. To my surprise, I find Hazel standing next to my bike. She’s staring at her phone, scrolling through something that has her undivided attention. One of her stiletto toes is tapping annoyingly on the ground.“You need something Hazel?” I ask as I grab my helmet from the top of the bike seat. She jolts back to reality as she doesn’t hear me approach. “Oh, my goodness! You scared me!”“Well, that’s what happens when you miss training class 101 to get your nails done and miss the section on always pay attention to your surroundings…” I say and give a fake smile just to irritate her. Actually, I really shouldn’t talk… During that lesson, I slept through it at my desk because I was up all night trying to kill zombies on the gaming console with my brother.I start putting my stuff into the small bag I have attached to the back of my bike,
Ciara’s POVAfter the ride to my house, I park my bike in the garage and then make my way through the back door. “Anyone home?” I yell. “I’m in here…” My mom’s sweet voice calls out to me from the direction of the kitchen. I walk in and see my mom wiping down all the countertops and cleaning up after dinner. “How was your day?” She doesn’t look up at me.“OK.” I walk over and give her a quick squeeze as she leans her head against mine, continuing to scrub a small speck of what looks like sauce off her kitchen counter. “Where’s dad?” I ask. Mom continues to scrub the counter. If she isn’t careful, she may scrub a hole in the wood. “Oh, he just leave with Noah after we ate dinner. They had some Beta work to do this evening with some of the warriors. He will be here later.”“I see.” I am glad my dad wasn’t here. I was still pretty mad at him for siding with the Alpha. A small amount of betrayal lingered when I thought about my father.“I heard about the parties. I am sorry it didn’t wo
Third Party POV – Five years Later“Daddy!” A four-year-old little girl with blonde wavey hair and striking smokey gray eyes wandered through the halls of the packhouse, paying no mind how loud she is. “DAAAAAADDDDDDDYYYYY!!!!” She yelled again.“What’s the matter, Isabella?” Beta Hunter strolled out of the packhouse kitchen munching on a bag of chips.“Uncle Hunter, Uncle Hunter” The little girl runs up and stands on her toes in front of him, hoping to make herself taller. “Where Daddy? They do it again!” She points her little finger in the direction she just came from. Her plump little cheeks red with annoyance.Beta Hunter couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head. This was a normal grievance from the little princess. “Oh, dear. Did you tell your mom?”Isabella crossed her arms with a huff, “No! I want daddy! Mommy say they playing, but nanny says they will break their necks! Wolves keep feet on the ground!” She rushed through in one big breath. She looks back down the hall and n
Ciara’s POV (several months later)That’s it! Its official… I think the moon goddess has changed her mind and decided to finish me off with an unknown disease. She has played a cruel trick on me. Giving me high hopes of the perfect wonderful life then snatching it away with a virus. I finally got my mate; I am Queen Luna, and I am surrounded by people who love and cherish me. Now I am hugging the porcelain throne of waste as if it is a lifeline from a sinking ship! Goodbye cruel world! Hello field of endless sleep…After my Luna Ceremony and the coronation of the new King and Queen, life at the Blue Eclipse pack turned into a pretty good routine. Alpha King Mars went back to his duties, and I took up the role of nontraditional, ass-kicking warrior Queen Luna.Owen and I had a big lavish wedding, to which all the pack leaders were invited. Our honeymoon was a cross-country ride on our motorcycles! Owen had my stuff and motorcycle shipped over to our pack as soon as my trial was over as
Chapter – Dear DiaryCiara’s POVDear Diary – Sorry I haven’t written in a while. My therapist and Owen had to remind me that writing will help my PTSD and help me cope with the memories of my time with the Dark Alpha. It’s been a crazy few months of learning to accept what I can’t change and to not blame myself for the past. I will admit the nightmares have gotten better since I started sleeping next to my goddess given mate. Being able to sleep has really helped the healing process, but when I do have a nightmare, Owen has to remind me I am no longer bound by the magical commands.Benji is getting better as well. She finally has some color back in her face and she no longer looks like a corpse. She is even able to take small walks with me around her garden, but it won’t be for a few more months til she’s able to go back in the medical lab doing what she loves. Each day she gets better and better, but I still sometimes find her sitting by the window with a far-off blank look on her fa
Alpha Mars’ POVI hug my mate then taste her sweet lips with a soft sinful kiss. Every hurdle, every roadblock, are destroyed and our path to forever is completely clear. I purr into her mouth, “Now you come home with me, and I get to touch your body until the break of day. I am going to kiss every inch of you, maybe even taste that beautiful pussy of yours, but no sex til you are 100% healed.” Without anyone noticing, I pull the blanket over her breasts so no one can see my hand, then flick and play with her nipple with my fingers. She moans then suddenly breaks away from my hold as if she just discovered something important, “Benji!”I look at her confused, “What?”“I want to go see Benji.” She looks at me with such pleading eyes that I groan. I rest my head on her shoulder. My cock throwing a tantrum over being so close to our mate and she throws a wrench into my sexually frustrated plans.“Seriously? You haven’t seen me in months, then you were unconscious for weeks, almost dying
Alpha Mars' POV We watched as the men and women of the elder council filed into their chamber. It wasn’t until the last robe disappeared behind the door that I finally felt like I could breathe. In a couple of strides, I was next to Ciara’s wheelchair kissing her sweet plump lips with everything my soul could give. The audience slowly filed out of the court room around us, but I wasn’t paying attention. My eyes were glued on my mate.“Fuck, I don’t think I could handle listening to your story much longer. I was ready to go to war with a fucker who is already dead.” I cupped her cheeks and stared into her smokey gray eyes. Her dark lashes fluttered her tears away as she smiled up at me. Goddess, I missed her smile.“What happens now?” Ciara says.“Well, they bring me their decision, and I fight it. But if they want to pursue it further, they can overrule my decision or go to the Magical Creature Council. But I don’t think it will come to that. I watched their reactions to your story.
Alpha Mars’ POVIs she out of her mind!?! She’s supposed to be resting and recovering from nearly dying! Not fucking being wheeled around by my warriors. And that pissed me off even more! The three warriors who were placed to guard her, brought her here to the courtroom and didn’t even bat a fucking eye on going against my command.I look over at Hunter who is smiling like a fucking idiot, secretly holding two thumbs up in approval at his mate, Freya. She smiled widely at him then blushed. Fucking, dammit!“What is your mate doing here? Shouldn’t she be resting? What if she gets sick again from the cold? What if something bad happens to her? This isn’t safe…” My mother fussed in my ear, but I waved her away. Those same thoughts were running through my mind, but what could I do? Ciara is a stubborn thing, but I loved her for it.“I hear you are trying to decide what my fate should be.” Ciara’s voice is calm and collected, just like a powerful Luna should be. “It’s considered rude to ta
Ciara’s POV Every inch of my body was stiff like a pole was shoved up my back. My muscles refused to work, my brain was foggy, and I am pretty sure my bladder was about to explode. A numb tingling feeling like when my foot falls asleep was crawling all over my skin. Basically, I was miserable. ‘Ember are we dead?’ I whined through our link. I started wiggling my toes and fingers slowly getting some sensation back. Every slight movement was a small blessing. I guess the moon goddess wasn’t going to make things easy by letting me magically rise from the dead like a phoenix… Nope she had to go the zombie route. Snort. ‘You aren’t dead, Frankenstein, just stiff… You need to keep moving your body. I’m working on healing you…’ Ember was a wonderful sight to see in my mind. I couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Ember, is it weird without our friends with you?’ She nodded, ‘yeah it’s a bit lonely without their presence, but at least we have the memories.’ I smiled at that…. ‘Now open your eyes, I
Alpha Mars' POV Ciara’s beautiful smokey gray eyes squinted up at me then fluttered in and out of focus. She tried to adjust her position on the bed, but she was stiff from laying still for weeks. She let out a soft groan but couldn’t get any words out. She tried to speak again, but her eyes widen in realization instead, clutching at her throat in panic. Shit that fucking tube in her mouth… She was struggling to breathe! I just got her back and now she’s going to die from fixation from a fucking life-support tube!“I’ll get someone to help!” Artemis ran out of the room while Freya stood motionless crying, and my sister Olivia just looked uncomfortable since she has never met Ciara before.I pulled my chair closer to Ciara, “Its ok, Baby… someone will be here soon to take that fucking thing out. Keep your eyes on me. That’s it, baby… Look at me… I got you!” I smiled at her still holding and kissing her fingertips as I continued to whisper sweetly to her. “I am not going anywhere. You a
Alpha Mars’ POVI stare at my mothers’ retreating back in complete confusion. “What the fuck just happened?” My mind couldn’t handle another fucking thing to worry about. Wasn’t only a few months ago, my mother was calling Ciara some no-name whore? Now she’s fussing over her blankets, checking over her, and warning me about the fucking council? Plus, she admitted to her mistakes in her own way?“Boss, I think we need to take heed of her words about those sneaky old bastards.” Hunter pulled out his phone from his back pocket, working over the screen with his finger. “There’s nothing on the pack calendar for a meeting, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t meeting in private. I need to get a hold of Elder Mayfield. She’s always been on your side and will know what’s going on. I’ll be back shortly.” Then he rushed out the door without another word.Theo patted my shoulder as he stood as well. “I better get back to my family. Antonia will bring more food later. No te preocupes, Ok? No worries
