Khalid POV

The moonlit path stretched before us, its eerie glow casting long shadows across the forest floor. With every step we took, my heart raced, a mixture of anticipation and fear surging through me. The old man’s warnings still echoed in my mind, but the image of Megan’s face propelled me forward, overriding the whispers of doubt.

The further we ventured into the land of the dead, the more the air seemed to thicken with an otherworldly energy. My men and I pressed on, the weight of our mission urging us to defy the darkness that surrounded us. The forest was alive with faint whispers, the voices of spirits long past, and every rustle of leaves seemed to speak of secrets and hidden truths.
