[Dominic's POV]

I found myself seated as the ceremony unfolded before my eyes. How was this happening? I wasn't able to stop it. I claimed I would find a solution, but it seemed I failed at doing that as well.

I can't believe I will let this happen and let Adrian's wife be the new Sophie of the De Santos.

The other members of the De Santos were already seated at the ceremony, as all left a darkening gaze that flickered in some moments into forced smiles.

It was not surprising to see they don't want any of this as well. I am sure they must each want one of theirs for this title, and seeing that Uncle Marc decided to give the title to Adrian's wife, who just joined in, must have spurred a little side of hate.

I liked seeing them like that, but yet none of it was good even though they won't do anything stupid, being here in Uncle Marc's territory. I can't tell much yet, judging from Luca's reaction back at the marriage party before.

"Dominic, has Adrian gotten ready?" A snap from my thou

A splash woke me as my eyes sprang open. My body was wet, dripping with water. I found myself tied to a chair.Standing right in front of me was a stranger with an empty bucket in hand, which he placed down."What happened? Where am I?" I wondered in my thoughts.Recalling all that had happened before: those muscular men and Caleb. "So I was kidnapped?" But who could have possibly had me kidnapped?I thought that by staying in the crowd's sight, I would be safe from all the dangers that seemed to lurk at the walls, craving to end me. But here I was, ending up kidnapped and trapped in this room, with no idea where I was, and this complete stranger with glued feet, his eyes remained fixed on me. I caught no sight of the two muscular men."Please… where am I? Please let me go; I don't even want this title in the first place." I pleaded in a whisper to the man, and I was quite sure the reasons they had me kidnapped was because of the title I was about to be given. But even with all my ple

[Dominic's POV]“Kidnapping one of the De Santos members in my mansion? I must say, wow! I haven’t had someone dare me for so long," I heard Uncle Marc say, his face curling into a smirk.Remembering things now, this must be exciting for him. I mean, he has many enemies, but none have had the guts to face and challenge him. With Adrian's wife's kidnapping, this somehow felt like a direct challenge to him—one he had missed so much.“Get the men, Gavin. I want Sierra found immediately, and get me the head of whoever is behind this," Uncle Marc snapped. As Uncle Gavin left with a nod, the crowd fell into silence, everyone just stood there watching. But yet, I could hear a murmur coming from my side. It was from the same two men I had caught whispering earlier.“I am sure the old man's power has weakened now that his family is at risk of being ended," one chuckled.I turned, looking up in their direction. As they noticed my presence, their murmurs ceased, replaced by a downcast look.“Wea

I can't let him get himself into more trouble now.I made my way down the stairs, scanning the passage as I walked."Get the vehicle, and you get the weapons," I heard Uncle Gavin say to two of Uncle Marc's men standing at his front. It seemed they were getting ready to set out, but what good would that do? I mean, they have no idea of Adrian's wife's location, but yeah, that wasn't much of a problem if it was one of our enemies. But somehow, I feel somebody from inside helped those kidnappers, and Caleb claims it's not him.I guess I just have to set my eyes on him for a while to confirm if his words were true."Dominic, you're here," Uncle Gavin said, approaching me."Have you seen Adrian, Dominic? I mean, she is my wife after all, even though it's all just a charade. But I have to act concerned," I said. I just had to play along to fool my silly brother and Uncle Marc, so they don't figure out Sierra's whereabouts. But I still had no idea how I could stop Sierra from becoming the next sohoe."Whatever you do, just know you have to do it fast, Adrian. And don't worry, I will keep an eye on her for you for a while, while you figure out what to do next," Damien said as I watched him leave the room after.I couldn't be seen walking out of the mansion so freely. Who knows how many eyes might be on me after this incident? Not that they would surely suspect me—I mean, who would suspect I kidnapped my own wife? Even though I had the thought that she might have slipped some words out—it's highly possible, but if so, she wouldn't remember it, would she? The drugs' effects on her would lead to such.Nevertheless, this didn't seem like the right time.I turned away from her sight, my legs moving toward the doorstep, when I felt a grasp on my wrist, causing a pause in my footsteps. A hand came wrapped around me as I felt her body pressing onto my back."Please don't go, Adrian; I need you. Recalling things now, I could also remember her discussing with a man on the phone, the same time she had me kidnapped, as she also addressed him as "father."Could it be that this man was her father? I hadn't even checked on Adrian yet to confirm things, but even so, I still find it hard to shake Elena's words."Don't hurt Adrain, Father, or else I will never forgive you for that. Just hold on and stay low while I handle things," she said, as I tried moving in closer, hoping to hear her words more clearly and maybe the response from the call. If possible, I could make them join me. No, that wasn't going to work, would it?"I can't believe this! So, you have been under our very nose all this while. We have to tell the boss. Though I tried stopping them, it proved futile as I watched them leave the mansion. But what was I thinking? That it would be possible to stop them by pleading? "Come have a seat, dear," Marc said. As I sat down, I noticed some of the men seated tried avoiding a glance at me. "So now, let's begin," Marc announced after taking a seat also. One of the men brought out what seemed like a suitcase. In it were some files. "Here are the recordings of the companies as requested Marcellus, sir," the man said, handing over the files to Marc as he checked through them. "Good," he uttered. I had no idea what this meeting was for in the first place or why my attention was needed. "It seems the rumors are true, but surely they must have the guts, trying to cheat their way through the system laid down by the De Santos," Marc said, laying the papers on the desk as I caught a glimpse of the headings. It was just a file of some listed companies, even though I couldn't see the list there. "So, what should we do, Marcellus, sir? We are ready to take action and show them the consequences of going against you, boss, but only if you give us the perm

  • The Crimson Trail of Death   The Face of Fear

[Sierra's POV] I heard a knock at the door as I stood up, approaching the door. Opening it, I caught sight of a man standing at the doorstep. Guessing from his dressing, I was sure he was one of Marc's men. "Marcellous, sir, seeks your attention," he said. What does this old man want with me again? I recalled his words before I had left the basement the other time, saying that my attention was going to be needed soon, the words about me starting my work as the sohoe. But what work is that? One side told me it was something bloody, a path I saw myself unable to engage in. "I am coming," I replied to the man, shutting the door back. I stepped into the bathroom, splashing some water at my face. Glaring at the mirror, I released a breath. So this was it, the day I found myself unable to escape from. And now that Dominic seems to be gaining an upper hand in finding out secrets about Adrian and me, this was the time for me to act faster than I could before he finds out about me. I mus

[Adrian's POV] Walking through the hall, I found myself unable to believe what Sierra had just told me in the room. The fact that Dominic now knows. But what lingered in my thoughts was Elena. I couldn't deny one word that left Sierra's mouth, but she couldn't, why would she? I had suspected her at first about the stranger who had called me. I can't possibly suspect her about Dominic knowing as well. But then, how? Just how did Dominic know? It can't just be a slip from nowhere; someone must have let the cat out of the bag. What if it was the same stranger? I mean, what if he had called Dominic up, blurting out everything he knew? But that wasn't possible either. Even though I wanted to kill this so-called stranger, I am quite sure he was smarter than to let Dominic know. At least he claims he wants to be my ally, if that is as true as he had said, though. Still lost in thoughts, I found myself standing right at Elena's doorstep. Finding myself here already, I thought, "Why not j
