My legs slowly retreated back as theirs grew closer. The dagger they grasped was raised up, pointed for an attack.
I turned, picking up speed as my legs lashed through the way. "Help...! Please help!" I yelled, hoping someone, just anybody, would come to my aid and save me.
The alley was dark and deserted—nobody was there. I was left replied by my echoing words as I wandered through the alley, running. My eyes darted back as I witnessed them getting closer by the second.
"Catch her, don't let her escape..." they uttered to each other.
My eyes became blurry with tears streaming down as my entire body was consumed by fear.
"Am I going to die? But why? Why are they after me? What could this possibly be..."
I wondered, and then it hit me: 'The Club.'
Could this be their doing? I never expected to be hunted down so quickly. I thought I still had time, a little time to get things done, plan an escape, and lay low for just a while. But it seemed my own hope was left shattered and thrown right in my face.
I stumbled to the ground, getting back up as I kept on running. A fierce swing caught my eye as I watched one of the men spur an attack with the dagger, grazing me at my hand. I tried to restrain the pain, but it was unbearable as I let out a scream, flooded by my cries as I continued running.
I couldn't stop—I just can't die, I can't!
The men persisted in chasing me. My eyes landed on a pathway, and I ran toward it, hiding myself as I leaned against the wall, panting. I tried to manage some soft breaths as they arrived at the side, their eyes scanning each path.
"Where did she go?" I heard one of them utter.
"She just went this way, didn't she?" the other questioned.
I managed to peek, catching sight of them scanning the area. I quickly withdrew my gaze and leaned back.
The area went silent for some moments, which persisted for a while. Slowly, I tried peeping again, and I caught no sight of them anymore.
A slight relief washed over me as my legs gave way, running through the path. I made my way out of the dark alley, entering the streets. That was really close—I had to be careful from now on.
They can't kill me, they just can't!
I moved through the street, managing a fast pace as I walked through some little crowds, finding myself back at our house.
Now, I had to beg him; I had to find a way for him to help me out. I am sure he might prove persistent at first, but I was sure I could manipulate my way through him, even if I would have to suppress my body—No! But there was no other choice left for me.
Walking closer to the apartment, my gaze landed on my uncle, Clarence, resting on his car right in front of my mom's apartment, as though he was waiting for me.
As I turned to leave from his direction, it felt quite late as our eyes met, fixed on each other.
Why was I thinking of running from him anyway? I questioned as I walked up to him.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned him, but all I received was a flickering gaze as he took in the injuries covering my body from trying to escape the men chasing me. I attempted to cover some of the injuries with my clothes.
"Didn't you hear me? Tell me why you're—" I started, my tone rising, but before I could finish, I felt a sudden force on my face. He had slapped me. "How dare you!" I yelled, erupting with rage. Before I knew it, I raised my hand to attack, but it was left frozen in mid-air as I felt another blow, this time causing my legs to stumble. I crumbled to the ground, a strange metallic taste in my mouth. I noticed tiny drops of blood dripping from my bleeding lips.
Before I could even comprehend what was happening, I felt a grasp on my hair as he grabbed me, pushing me against the wall. His grip tightened, and I felt excruciating pain, struggling to gasp for air. "Let me go! Let me go, you bastard!" I stammered, trying to free myself from his grasp, but I was left succumbed to his strength.
It felt like a clash as his fist sank into my stomach, leaving me gushing blood with my insides recoiling from the force. My eyes were slowly blacking out when he finally released his grip, and I crumbled back to the ground.
Gushing blood, I crawled through the dirt stained with my own blood, trying to put some distance between us, away from his reach.
Raising my gaze gently at him, I barely managed to utter, "Why...?"
I watched him bend down, those dark, furious eyes fixed on me. "Just see this as an Uncle teaching his niece some manners. After leaving your silly mother's funeral, I found it hard to shake off the audacity you showed, glaring at me and saying those silly words. What were you thinking?" he asked, placing his hand on my cheek. I tried to fling it off, but my body betrayed me. I was too weak to even move any further.
"But really, look what you made me do to that pretty face of yours," he said with a flick of a smile as he gently stood up. "And oh, we can't let those pretty green eyes get stained now," he mocked as he wiped the blood from my eyes with his finger.
"And yeah, don't act rude like you did today at the funeral. I don't want to teach you another lesson. I can't say how much it hurts me to see you in pain, dear niece. So, just a word of advice: let's settle this long family feud. Your dad is dead, your mom is dead; all that's left is you. So, why don't you end this and come to my mansion like an obedient little girl? I'll show you how things really run, and you won't have to suffer anymore. You have my word on that," he said before entering his car and driving off.
My eyes slowly gave way, everything going blank in an instant. My entire body was numb from the pain, and I felt myself drifting into unconsciousness.

The faint clash of metal echoed in my ears as a sharp beam of light pierced through my eyes, forcing them to spring open.I found myself lying on the street, my body half-stained with my own blood and injuries.Another clash of metal caught my attention as my eyes focused on the coins tossed at a rubber container near me by each person passing by. It was the morning hour.A reminder of what took place last night; I managed a half-crawl and leaned against the wall, releasing a sigh. I tried to catch a proper breath as I could still feel the pain coursing through my body, which was still reeling from the trauma."That monster! I—I will make him pay; he will pay for all he has done to me and my family. He dared to hit me last night... damn him!" I yelled, my throat catching in my words as I found myself coughing uncontrollably. Some of the people passing by gazed at me, their eyes flickering with pity and disgust. I was laying here on the street, my clothes half-torn, my entire body cove
[Adrian's POV]"Please, just please let me go! I have a family, kids... I promise I won't try this again, boss..." he pleaded, his voice trembling with fear.I gazed at him, his pitiful and pathetic appearance eliciting a slight chuckle from me. I bent down, my eyes fixed on his chained form lying on the ground as he sobbed uncontrollably."Why?" I questioned, my voice cold and calculating."What?" he stuttered, his face pale with terror."Why did you have to take it this far? I thought you were trustworthy, or was it just my misjudgment? Lies are told; I understand. Betrayals are made; that I understand also. But do you know why I'm angry? It's not that you wanted to sell me out to some enemies or that you were spying on me..." I whispered, approaching a nearby table and picking up a sledgehammer."What do you mean? All this isn't because of that?" he uttered, his face growing even paler."No... What really got me angry is the fact that you did it out of fear, or no, maybe the fact t
I sat down, my gaze fixed on hers. I couldn't ignore some tiny bruises I saw on her face, but it was of little concern to me. "So, I'm guessing you've come to accept my offer," I said, watching her silent presence, which persisted for a few seconds, leaving my question unanswered."If I agree, can you guarantee your help? Can I make them pay? I can make every single one of them pay," she uttered, her voice barely audible but growing louder. Her eyes were different, unlike when I first met her. They reminded me of someone—I recognized that feeling of wanting revenge, to make them pay, to rip them from flesh to flesh and watch as they beg for mercy before killing them.Gosh, how I missed that instinct!"My words don't change, nor do I break them. Agree to sign this deal, and I'll ensure all your problems are gone, and all the revenge you desire is within your grasp." I said, observing the impact of my words on her vulnerable state.I yearned to experience once more the feeling of flames
[Sierra's POV]"Follow me, dear," the woman uttered as I raised my gaze to catch a glimpse of her image. It was the same woman who had opened the door and welcomed me in with a smile.I gently stood up, following her as she led me through the hall. My eyes fell on many maids busy with their duties, tidying up the mansion. The walls were high and the halls were wide.It felt like it was going to take forever to arrive at where we were heading when I noticed a halt in the woman's footsteps. She turned her gaze, meeting mine."This is your room, my dear," she said with a smile lighting up her lips.I took a peek into the room, my legs hesitating at first before I eventually entered, taking in the room's grandeur. There was a fresh display of artwork on the wall side, a dazzling shade of steel that roamed around the area. I had never seen something as nice as that; all my nose had been able to presume for years were the scents of burnt tobacco and alcohol. I would say I had become used to
"No. Stay away!" I screamed, my hands lifted up, with my gaze downcast. Within seconds, I noticed something bright as the room became clear. My eyes caught the strange legs, which remained paused as I slowly raised my gaze, only for it to land on Adrian, gazing at me with a furrowed brow.So it was him all along. I let out a sigh of relief, lowering my hands, which had sprung up for protection, as my eyes remained fixed on his. What was he doing here anyway? And couldn't he respond when I was asking who he was? Instead, he remained quiet, walking closer, leaving my heart racing. But yet, could my reaction really be that I feared for my life? After the incident with the men chasing me, my uncle's words and cruelty, a side of fear remained lingering inside me. A display of if I don't act first, the next encounter with them could possibly be my last."Hey!" Adrian snapped me from my thoughts."W-why are you here?" I stammered, trying to catch my wordings. "What are you planning?" I quest
[Sierra’s POV]The light was low, casting shadows around the room, a suffocating silence settling over everything except for his ragged breathing. His grip tightened, the hunger in his eyes overwhelming. He worked swiftly, tearing at my clothes with each rip echoing louder in my head than it should have. His hands moved mercilessly, stripping me and positioning me roughly on the bed. Every motion felt like an assault on my dignity, each touch a violation of my sense of self.As he forced me into position, I wanted to scream, to push him away, but my body betrayed me, frozen under the weight of his control—just another man sent from the club, driven by power rather than connection.“You signed the deal,” he whispered into my ear, the words laced with venom. “There’s no escaping this. You’re mine for tonight.”I felt every push and pull, each thrust more invasive than the last. My legs ached, my body tense and trembling. Tears and an overwhelming mix of pain and confusion filled me as
After giving her the medicine as she was done taking them, I laid by her side, my grasp gently holding her like a warm hug. I didn't want to lose her.I didn't know when I eventually fell asleep. My eyes fluttered open from the rays of the sun as I shook awake.I slowly stood up, my gaze on my mom, who was still slumbering. The sight seemed to take away the ache in my heart.A knock caught my attention later, and I slowly approached the door. It was the landlord."Good day, Miss Sierra. I can see you've just woken up. I hope I didn't disturb your sleep. It's quite shocking to see you sleeping so peacefully, even though you owe me a lot," he said."I know you're here for the money, Mr. Ambrose, but I promise to get it. Please, can you give us some more days?" I pleaded."And how many more days will I always give you? I mean, this 'few days' doesn't seem to end in your calendar," he uttered as I watched his steps getting closer as he entered the house, giving a swift glance."So many th
Pain shot through me as I felt a frozen ache lingering in each part of my body, unable to catch a proper breath as I lay on the bed. The night brought the echo of another long day filled with the weight of each word and gaze.I managed to sit up, resting my back against the wall as I released a sigh, trying to get a grip on myself. The last client's grasp was still stained on my skin, leaving me to question my existence in this job every day. The painful fact remained that I wasn't able to get any money today since it wasn't payday. I couldn't repeat my actions of drugging and stealing the customer's money like the last time, so what could I possibly do now?My only hope was in begging Nate and seeing if his cruel demeanour could show some mercy. I knew it wouldn't work as easily as I hoped, but the least I could do was try.I gently stood up, climbing each step as I walked into the bathroom, splashing some water on my face. I washed my face, leaving a glance in the mirror after. I no
