N/A POV

They entered the Necropolis to see an army of the living dead awaiting them, La Bruja sitting on a pedestal, placing herself above all others as if she were the ruler of the dead. As Jacke took the lead, Mallow, Milo, and Gloria split off from the group to divert attention from them; They took to different sides of the realm, as Jacke and Alex led their army forwards, something told them that even if La Bruja would have words, there was no way out of here without a fight, and they'd come to terms with that fact.

"Ah, Jakey boy, it's good to see you again, Mi Amor. You're just as adorable as the day I first laid eyes on you, still as innocent I see."

"Your eyes deceive you, Dear Bruja, you only see me the same as I once was, not who I am now. You do hate me, don't you?"

"With every fiber of my being."

The air of The Necropolis shifted, resembling the hatred she held in her heart for her old flame. To her, he was to blame for everything that went wrong, after he bested her once

N/A's POVThe dragon took to the skies, leaving La Bruja in a state of utter shock, while Milo and Gloria could only smirk as they watched the beast flying through the sky with a piercing glow on its back; They turned to face Jacke and Alex who were just standing there, still mesmerized by what they'd just witnessed."So, are you two just going to sit there twiddling your dicks? Or should we take care of La Bruja too?" Gloria said with a smirk, snapping the two back to the matter at hand, La Bruja was rebuilding her army as quickly as she could, but it was draining her. Each time she raised a platoon of her shambling soldiers, she coughed violently and blood came out of her mouth, she was killing herself to keep this fight alive; It was already too late for her, Jacke turned to his remaining people, they'd lost a third of what they came with, but it was time to end this. He turned to face his foe and stared at her with a look of raw, unadulterated rage: She was causing hundreds upon t

Mallow's POVThe beast was strong-willed, I could give it that much, but I wasn't easily beaten; Not here, not anywhere. It flew as high as it could before I grabbed the horns that were drilled into its sides, and pulled back forcing it to go straight down."Either you serve me," I said before moving my hand from one of its horns to its forehead, "Or you perish here, once and for all!"It flew straight down at top speed, it knew it had a choice here, and I wasn't letting go of it anytime soon; Its will to live was strong, and it had a choice to make, either serve me and my ends, abandoning the dark void it had served for the last millennia, or it perished here in the Necropolis, never to be remembered nor feared again. As the ground grew closer and closer, the beast started showing its fear, and as it caught ablaze it spread its wings out and avoided the ground below."You win, Child of Ice!" It said as the void born shed its scales, burning the void from its very soul and swearing al

Jacke's POVM uncapped the second soda he had left earlier and explained that dragons are often portrayed as masters of certain aspects of life, explaining that for every concept that you could imagine, there was most likely a master of said concept in the form of a different colored dragon. Taydhes was the draconic aspect of hope and had been drowned in the void for so long that while under the control of La Bruja, he hadn't even remembered his own name. He was known as 'The Lightbringer' eons ago and was worshipped by many for his wisdom was treasured by many, and gifted to few. He and M had a long history, fighting side by side to overthrow unjust rulers, and at another point in time their kinship was so strong that M had taught Taydhes how to take a human form to make their jobs easier; However, something had happened that tore the two apart and they hadn't seen each other again since."Is that how Taydhes ended up in The Necropolis?" Milo asked, sitting on Gloria's lap, it was bl

Jacke's POVAfter M wrapped up his story, we all went back inside and went to bed while he fell asleep outside, which was a little strange but what wasn't at least a little strange in our lives? Alex and I fell asleep in the packhouse and woke up in our 'Mate Link' which I STILL didn't fucking understand. I didn't understand how it worked, why this thing even existed, but I was glad that even when we were asleep we had a safe place to talk."You look tense, Pup," Alex said walking up behind me, I didn't even hear her coming, I would've gone down the rabbit hole of 'What ifs?' if it were anyone else."I still don't understand this place, how does it work?""That's a deep question, but I'll do my best to answer it," She said before taking a seat next to me, "There's a lot of theories that have been made trying to explain it, and in a way, they're all correct, but the simplest way to put it is that it's a blessing from the Moon Goddess, she gifted her children with a mate and then gave t

Alex's POVWe walked out the front door and out to watch as our families were hard at work, building back from the remains of La Bruja's damages, and building our new home bigger and sturdier. Nicki and Jade were working with my Beta to build a library due east of the center of town, Jacke made a note that 'Preserving the knowledge and history of the past, helps us to build a better and brighter future' before we continued onward towards the front of the town. They built a large gate for people to come in and out of, with a walkway and a driveway for trucks and cars, and as we passed by many of my packmates waved hello."Hey guys, good to see you back in action!" I said as we passed by, Jacke waved as we made our way to the garage. We got in his truck with me at the wheel, and head off towards his warehouse, where he had said the remaining members of his family from the Necropolis were waiting. Jacke's POVTo say I was anxious as we walked through the doors to see some of Alex's family members there would be a massive understatement, I didn't think I would've been asked to talk with them this soon, but I suppose it was better now than later. One of them walked forward to shake my hand and pulled me into one hell of a bear hug."It's about time we met you, Lad," He said before letting go, giving me room to breathe after he squeezed the wind out of me, "Alex has spoken quite highly of you, and rightfully so it would seem, as we're building our new home here. Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Pete, Alex's uncle and the one who more or less took her in after her parents passed.""Pete, I'm surprised you guys were waiting for us here, I thought we weren't to go through with the ceremony until later this week. You know, once we're done rebuilding and all?" Alex asked through a glare that would make most men shit themselves, but apparently, Uncle Pete had seen this glare before and

Jacke's POVWe descended the ladder into the cellar below with an empty jar, and once we got to the bottom Alex stood at the ladder to make sure no one else came in, while I made my way to the altar in the center. The ashes were still there in the pile that Lady Muerte had left them, and nothing had looked like it changed, but it was time for a change. I grabbed my knife from my coat and carefully moved the ashes from the alter into the jar, until there wasn't any left and twisted the lid on tight. I was going to take a trip later this week to the Gulf of Mexico and disperse the ashes into the water, symbolizing an end to our chapter of pain and suffering. That section of our life was over, and a new chapter was beginning to unfold before us, one with Alex by our side and a new family that was bigger and stronger than it had been before.I looked around the room and took in every last detail, from the chests full of coins we'd dug up over the years, to the racks of weaponry that we ne

Jacke's POVThe following morning I woke up early, at the crack of dawn, and got out of bed as carefully as I could to not wake Alex up and let her sleep in. I left the room and walked out and downstairs into the kitchen to see it was empty, leaving me all the room to make some food. We split and Jake took a seat while I grabbed a carton of eggs from the fridge, an onion, and a roll of ground sausage. Browning the sausage in one pan while I diced the onion to make some breakfast burritos, Jake sat staring into space deep in thought."What's on your mind, Bud?""Just thinking about how we're going to go about talking to Pete, and Alex's Beta. Pete seems like a nice dude, but I don't know how I'd be able to play nice with Alex's old bully," He said before I handed him a drink, "Thank you. I mean, is it just me? Jacke's POVAs I continued showing Pete around the basement, answering his questions as they came, I realized that I had come a long way since the times when I first placed these items here. If you had asked me a century ago if I would be willing to show this room to anyone outside my family, I would've choked you with your own hands for asking a stupid question. Yet, here I was, showing Pete these artifacts from my past as if I had known the man my whole life. We continued going through the room with many questions asked and answered, and finally arrived at the most recent artifacts I had stored down here."This is the sword that belonged to a nobleman I had killed a decade or so ago, he had a significant bounty on his head, and I was bored that day. I grabbed two of my family members, got in one of my trucks, and flew out to Europe; He had been abusing his money and political influence to further his ends, without any care in the world for how it had affected his 'subjects'," I said

Jacke's POVI woke up the next day with Alex holding on to me with an iron grip, it looks like I wasn't getting out the easy way this morning. I grabbed her hand and kissed it trying to loosen her grip on me so I could stand up and start my day, but she wouldn't budge. With a little struggle, I turned around to look her in the face as she started waking up."Pup, it's early, go back to sleep," She groaned when she saw me looking up at her with a stupid-looking grin, I knew it was early in the morning but I had way too much energy to just sit still."I don't want to go back to sleep though, I have too much energy to sit still, Alex," I said as I wiggled around trying to get free, to no avail. She wouldn't let me go as easy as she did yesterday, even if it were so she could sleep in."You're not getting up anytime soon, you're going to sit here and accept my love, Nerd. Besides, it'll be more peaceful for food if we let the morning crew get their grub first," She said as I cuddle back i

  • The Criminal's Alpha   Chapter 78

Alex's POVWe made our way back home hand-in-hand, cracking jokes and talking about what would change in Jacke's life now that he was my Luna. It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but he needed to know that he would need to be more careful about his lifestyle; Acting more in the shadows and not trying to cause a scene everywhere he went. He took it shockingly well, going so far as to explain that it wouldn't be difficult to make those kinds of changes with the decades upon decades worth of resources he'd built up."It won't be a drastic change, from the sounds of it, it would just mean that I'd have to do less of the leg work and live a more peaceful life by your side," He said squeezing my hand, and I would've been lying if I said that my heart didn't skip a beat."What did I ever do to deserve you, Pup?""Do I need to make a list? I think the most potent reason would probably be that you exist," He said chuckling as we made our way up the trail back home. It took a lot of willpower to

Jacke's POVAlex took hold of my hand as we left home to go out on a walk, and followed the trail leading to where we hoped to find Mallow still there. We walked hand in hand with my music playing on my phone, I was more or less pestering Alex into telling me what her 'surprise' was but she wouldn't budge. She insisted that she wasn't going to spoil the surprise no matter how many times I asked, and I took that as a personal challenge. So, I did what I do best, and tried to tease her with a small whimper, but that didn't do anything but make her smirk."You keep making those kinds of noises, and we'll see who's really in charge here, love," She said looking at me, smirking with a look on her face that screamed 'Test me'."You're lucky I love you, Alex," I said trying to ignore the blush that was creeping on my face. I don't know how she did this, taking the stone-cold attitude I usually had, only to cast that aside to reveal my shy side without any issues."You're right, I am quite lu

Alex's POVI woke up later than I usually do to notice two things seemed off: One, Jacke wasn't in my bed, and Two, It was peaceful and quiet. With everything that was going on something smelled fishy, so I got up, got dressed, and left our room to head downstairs. Pete was in the kitchen drinking a cup of coffee, so I grabbed one myself before taking a seat next to him."Morning, Alex, what's going on with you?""Have you seen Jacke? He wasn't in bed when I woke up," I asked before taking a sip of my coffee and trying to not let my nerves get the best of me."Jacke? Yeah, we had a conversation earlier about the speech before he left to go find Mason, I presume to have the same kind of conversation.""Fucking hell, have mercy on me I just woke up. Did the conversation at least go well with the two of you?""Oh yeah, I think it went phenomenally. He got straight to the point and was very kind, all-be-it concerned about having to give a speech to the pack as a whole. He told me about ho
