Katie's POV

I sat in my office, staring blankly at the computer screen in front of me. The news had just come in: my company had been bought out by a larger corporation.

I wasn't sure how to feel about it. On one hand, it meant that I was going to be out of a job soon. But on the other hand, it could mean new opportunities and challenges.

As I sat there, lost in thought, my phone rang. It was Alex.

"Hey, how's work?" he asked.

"Actually, it's been a pretty eventful day," I replied. "The company got bought out by a larger corporation."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line before Alex spoke again.

"Well, that's certainly unexpected. What does it mean for you?"

"I'm not sure yet," I said. "I guess it depends on what the new owners have in mind. They could keep me on, or they could let me go."

There was another pause, and then Alex said, "Whatever happens, we'll figure it out together. You know that, right?"

I smiled, feeling a rush of warmth and love for my husband.
