The Wish

Thankfully, the doctor had obliged Ciara and hadn’t told Samuel more than he needed to know. Few hours after that, Ciara was discharged, but she went straight to Mary’s ward.

“You are here,” Mary said happily the moment Ciara entered her ward. Even though Mary’s nurse had told Ciara that Mary was awake, she had expected the woman to be resting.

“Yes, I am,” Ciara said and settled beside Mary.

“The doctor said something about an allergy, and I am just grateful that it wasn’t more than that,” Mary said genuinely.

Ciara wanted to ask her if she had taken any drink at all, but it might arouse suspicion and even make Mary uneasy, which isn’t what she needs at the moment. There was no other way for Ciara to know, because asking Samuel wasn’t even an option, so in as much as she hated it, she would just have to let it go, the most important thing being that she did not lose the baby.
