“What baby were you talking about in your sleep?” Samuel demanded.

Ciara did not see that coming. She hadn’t even thought that she had said anything when she was battling with the bad dream. It had felt so real and true that it scared the life out of her, and for the fact that Samuel did not ask her any questions after he woke her up made her believe that she had dreamt silently. Now she understood why he had been giving her some weird and suspicious looks since then.

“Answer me!” Samuel tried not to scream. They were still in Aunt Mary’s ward, and he wouldn’t want to wake her up. Samuel moved closer to her in a menacing manner again, making Ciara shiver a little. She was still trying to get a hold of herself, as everything that is happening seems to be happening really fast and she was yet to get a grip of herself.

“You like to evade questions, don’t you?” Samuel said gruffly. He was really getting pissed off, and Ciara doubted that he would be able to hold it in any longer than nec

Ruby and Linda both stood in their living room, unable to sit down with ease. Everything seems to be escalating beyond their control.“I was just a step away from entering her ward when the doctor announced the arrival of Samuel and that wretch,” Linda sulked. The whole scene kept playing in her head, making her angrier. “I hated the fact that she had to be referred to as Samuel’s wife, and not me.”“You have to be patient, Linda.” Ruby tried to calm Linda down even though, last thing she was experiencing herself was calmness.“But what are we to do? All our plans seem to be falling in our faces,” Linda whined. She wasn’t lying, and Ruby agreed with her. “Ciara seems to be getting away with everything, and we cannot let that happen,” she said and turned to Linda. “Are you sure none of them saw you?” She asked.“I made sure of that. You ought to trust me on things like these by now,” Linda said. She did not like that her skills of maneuvering her way through situations are being questi

  • The Contract Bride: Falling For Fury    A Familiar Face

On the ride back to the luxury apartment, the car was eerily quiet. Samuel said nothing to Ciara, and neither did Ciara, and in order to distract herself from feeling uncomfortable, especially with Samuel’s stone-cold face, she decided to look outside the window instead. It was safer to look through the walls of Mexico City and its people walking about freely and going about what they wanted to do, which was contrary to the life that Ciara was trapped in than to continue to see Samuel’s face and live in the fear that he might reach out and strangle her any moment. Ciara was grateful that after Samuel’s conversation with Aunt Mary, he had not bothered to confront her like he would usually do. Ciara had been skeptical about returning to the ward after what she had heard, so she had feigned having a light headache, which had prompted Aunt Mary to urge Samuel to take Ciara home.Ciara had hoped that Samuel would let her drive back to the apartment alone, since she was practically staying

“What agency did you say sent Joel?” Ciara asked Aunt Quinton later after Samuel had left. Luckily for her, he did not stay for as long as five minutes after he was introduced to the new gardener and Ciara got to understand that he followed her to the luxury apartment just so that he could see the new employee. Ciara was very relieved, because Samuel did not stick around to try to force an explanation out of her. Ciara had genuinely hope that she would take a long nap in the soft bed, but something about the young man just kept gnawing at her gut, and she found herself restive and unsafe. The moment she set eyes on him, she had that shivering feeling that she had when she visited Samuel at his penthouse and someone followed her. “Maux Cleaning Services,” Aunt Quinton responded. “They are the best cleaning service in Mexico City,” she further stressed, but still Ciara was not bought.“When did you request for a gardener?” Ciara questioned.“Master Samuel actually did, not me,” she re

  • The Contract Bride: Falling For Fury    Locking Danger

Ciara knew immediately that she needed to do something.“We have an impostor in the house,” Aunt Quinton said with so much fear and trepidation that she almost passed it on to Ciara. Ciara knew there was something off about the man, but she had hoped that somehow someway, her intuitions would be wrong. Now, she would not even be able to get that so much desired nap until she is able to solve the problem at hand.“Where is he now?” Ciara asked. Just then, they heard the sound of the mowing machine.Ciara and Aunt Quinton hurried to the window and there he was, mowing the lawn. Aunt Quinton gasped in shock. Accepting the situation for what it was seemed really difficult for her. “So where is the real Joel?” she asked.“I have no idea, Aunt Quinton, but we have a huge problem in our hands, and we need to sort it out before it blows out of proportion,” Ciara said.Even though she said “we”, she was actually referring to herself. Now that she knew that the man they have mowing their lawn

Ciara was grateful that instead of screaming, Aunt Quinton had been sensible enough to cover her mouth with her hands.Ciara was scared to her bones, especially now that the man was no longer mowing the lawn. She has no idea if he even heard what they have been saying, because Ciara’s window had been open while they watched him and even talked. Even though they were upstairs and he was on the ground floor, Ciara could not be certain. There was no way to be sure, because looking at the lawn now, Ciara realized that he wasn’t even done mowing it.Whether they liked it or not, they were in grave danger.“Hello? Mrs. Fury, are you there?” The representative asked.Ciara had been rendered speechless when the representative broke the news and at the same time, her mind had been running around in thoughts.“Oh yes, I am here, and I heard you,” Ciara answered. She was honestly trying really hard, but panic and exhaustion were becoming evident even in her words.“We deeply apologize for this.

  • The Contract Bride: Falling For Fury    The Big Question

Ciara stirred, her head banging. It seemed to Ciara that she was in a different world entirely. She tried to open her eyes, but as she did, the room began to go in rotations. She could not even fathom where she was. Soon enough, Ciara started to hear faint and indistinct voices. They weren’t exactly familiar to her.Ciara opened her mouth to talk, but she could not utter any words. Then she felt a hand on her head, and in a few seconds, Ciara slipped into unconsciousness again.Hours later, Ciara wasn’t sure, she stirred and opened her eyes again. This time around, it was only a mild headache, and when she opened her eyes, the rotation had disappeared. Ciara looked around from her position on the bed, and it dawned on her that she was in a hospital room. At first, she could not understand why she was there. Ciara was confused. She looks around frantically and her eyes fall on Aunt Mary sitting on her wheel chiar, right beside Ciara’s bed.“You are awake? The doctor said the second dos

Ciara was taken aback by the question. Aside the fact that she hadn’t expected that, she had not even remembered about her baby. She had been so engrossed with thinking about the situation of things that issues of her pregnancy completely evaded Ciara. Usually, that would have been her utmost concern. That would have been the first question that she would have asked, but mysteriously, it had completely evaded her memory. Ciara concluded that it had something to do with the attack. Besides, she was still recovering and trying to remember all that happened vividly, and not in flashes.Involuntarily, as soon as the question came out of Aunt Mary’s mouth, Ciara’s hand flew to her stomach, and she began to cradle it. She could not feel anything and Ciara became instantly worried. Tears welled up in her eyes.Aunt Mary watched this intently, and without being told, she had the answer to the question she asked. Aunt Mary became emotional. “You are pregnant,” she said. It wasn’t a question th

  • The Contract Bride: Falling For Fury    Tell Him

Ciara entered the luxury apartment weakly along with Samuel and Aunt Mary. Aunt Mary was being rolled in by Samuel. They tried to dissuade Aunt Mary from following them to the apartment, but she vehemently refused and insisted she followed them. One of the reasons that neither Ciara nor Samuel wanted Aunt Mary to follow them to the apartment after Ciara was discharged from the hospital is because they did not want her to find out that Samuel has not actually been living in the apartment with Ciara. They, especially Samuel, did not want Aunt Mary to know that he had sent her to the luxury apartment and dumped her there just so that he would not have to deal with her presence.Samuel had a lot on his plate that was causing him a whole lot of stress and anguish, and he did not need the mystery of Ciara to be added to his.The moment they stepped in, Aunt Quinton who had been standing in the living room, expectantly waiting for Ciara’s arrival hurried over to her in relief and excitement.

Samuel arrived at the police station in his own car, following the cops. He was boiling with anger, but his anger was to Colt, and not the cops, because they were simply doing what they were asked to do.“What is the meaning of this?” Samuel asked the moment he got into the office he was invited into before. The head cop signaled to Samuel to sit down, and although Samuel sat, he was still upset. This was the second time in a couple of days that he was being invited to the hospital, and he was no longer finding it a joke.“Mr. Fury, we have a lot against you,” he told Samuel.“How do you mean?” Samuel asked, not bothering to mask his anger. “I was here the last time, and you asked me to go, so what is this about?” Samuel demanded gruffly.“Our interrogation the last time was inconclusive, and we informed you about this, so inviting you back here shouldn’t be strange, or even rile you up,” the head cop said, saying the last words with caution.“You do know who I am, right?” Samuel thr

Ciara waited for Samuel to return, but he seemed that was not happening any time soon. She had woken up much later after a disturbing dream, and had found the penthouse very empty. For the first time, Ciara found herself lonely in Samuel’s absence. Maybe it was because of the moment they shared together before she fell asleep, but she could not exactly tell. Then there was the deal with Rudge. Although he was yet to call her back, Ciara still did not want to take chances with him. This was her only opportunity to know about what happened, and contrary to Samuel’s belief, Ciara was certain that he truly had something to tell her. If there was anyone aside from the Luscious family who knew exactly why she went to prison, it would be an employee of theirs, especially the one that worked closely with Linda. All the years living with and knowing Linda Luscious, Ciara knew that she was full of shady and dirty things. There were always skeletons in her cupboard. So now that Rudge had called

So you two created a gang behind my back,” Samuel questioned Kingston after Quinton had left.He intentionally stayed in the study while Quinton sorted out her things and left. Samuel would not go back on his words; he had already fired her, and that was it. Right now, he was even angry with everyone. So while he was struggling to put things in place and make things work out for him, his own employee had been sabotaging every move by reporting to Ciara. Now he understood why he was always seeing her staring at him weirdly; she had been eavesdropping on him every minute and reporting back to Ciara, which was why she had been able to stay two steps ahead. Now he felt like a horrible fool.“What is it with Ciara that everyone just wants to protect her?” Samuel asked himself in frustration. From his mother to his own employee, who was even trying to recruit his driver into the league. For the life of him, Samuel could not understand the hold that Ciara Summers had on everyone else. His

Linda had locked herself up in the room ever since the scandal. She could not even bring herself to go anywhere as close as downstairs, because she did not even want to deal with curious stares from the employees. Not only had she been skipping meals, she had also been avoiding her parents, especially her mother, because she could not deal with any firm of judgments right now.In truth, the Luscious mansion had been somewhat gravely quiet ever since. Linda was a nervous wreck as she called Hayes. She had been calling him almost every ten minutes, but she could not bring herself to stop.“Anything else?” Linda asked the moment the call connected.“No, Linda. He has been in the main house for hours now. Maybe he has called it a day, and I think I should too,” Hayes said, sounding tired.“Don’t you dare move from there!” Linda barked. They had missed Samuel for days, unable to trail him, because he had gone to hide somewhere unknown, and Linda had quickly told Hayes where to find Samu

  • The Contract Bride: Falling For Fury    You Are Fired

Samuel got into the main house and flopped on the couch, extremely tired. From what he could see outside, all his domestic staff were in good shape and doing their jobs well, so Samuel closed his eyes and tried to take in as much rest as possible. He did not want to think much about anything for now; he just wanted to rest. If he could stay here for a couple of hours, and even take a nap in the process, he would be relieved, but shutting his brain off completely was not something he could do, considering all that was going on at the moment. He would need to take extra caution dealing with Colt henceforth, but Samuel could not tell if Kingston was now strong enough to get back to work. He knew he should have called Doctor Pedro to ask about Kingston’s improvement, but he had been swamped with things. Anyway, now that he was here, he would ask him personally. Samuel opened his eyes and looked around, and everywhere seemed quiet. Samuel was now used to catching Quinton standing by the

Samuel drove home, his mind muddled up in thoughts. It was a card he played on Colt, and like a mirror, he saw right through Colt.More than ever before, and for the very first time, Samuel was certain that there was something amiss. Colt could not even answer the last question he asked him. Samuel thought of going to the penthouse, but he changed his mind last minute. He hadn’t been to the main house in days now, and since he was still in charge of the Fury house and wealth, he needed to go there and ensure that everything was okay.Changing directions now, his mind went back to Colt Luscious. Samuel knew what he hadn’t known for years now; he was also a victim of Colt and Ruby’s games, but he could not exactly put the points together. All along, he had been worrying so much about understanding what was going on in Ciara’s life and trying to piece together bits and pieces of the things he knew, and he had no idea that he might also need to piece them together. Now, Samuel was begin

Samuel and Colt stared at each other for the longest time, each refusing to break the ice, and equally refusing to be less deadly in their stares.“You are ungrateful,” Colt said angrily.“How so?” Samuel asked, refusing to back down.If it was before, he would allow Colt Luscious to guilt-trip him into feeling like he needed to set things right.“I did everything for you, Samuel Fury. I showed up for you when no one else would. I became your benefactor when there was no one to even help you. I aided you to get back the Fury name and wealth, and what did I get in return?” Colt said, his eyes spitting fire.“Say how I fucking betrayed you, Colt, and stop beating around the bush,” Samuel stated bluntly, almost cutting Colt off. Colt ground his teeth in annoyance, and was also surprised at Samuel’s disrespectful tone.“You got my daughter pregnant!” Colt barked.“Did I?” Samuel asked, looking at Colt square in the eyes challengingly. “How am I certain that your daughter was the one I ha

  • The Contract Bride: Falling For Fury    About Time

Samuel had been in many uncomfortable situations, ones that required deep and intense emotions, but he had never seen anything like this, and deep down, he knew that there was still more that Ciara was yet to tell him.As he stood above Ciara and watched her, her words just kept floating through his mind. And to think he had actually believed Linda when she said that Ciara had come into their home to steal. Now, things were beginning to click together, piece by piece. How on earth did someone go through all that? A woman for that matter? “Thank goodness I did not end up marrying Linda,” Samuel said quietly. When he had arrived at the venue and had walked up to the altar, and had looked at Linda in that dress, he had just known that he could not go through with the wedding. Even if it was some sort of an arrangement, and nothing based on love, he just couldn’t. Even though he had wanted to marry Linda to get to know what was really going on, he just couldn’t, and now, he was grateful

Yes, he knew that he suspected something was off, but he had no idea, and now, he was even more confused.“Linda Luscious?” Samuel asked, wanting to be certain he was hearing rightly.“You asked who Rudge was referring to when he said ‘she’, right?” Ciara asked. Now, they were both seated on Ciara’s bed, quietly. It was the first time they would be having a conversation in this manner. All the times they had a conversation, they had always been talking in high tones, and throwing unpleasant words to each other.“Was she the same person the previous time when Rudge had contacted you and struck a deal? Samuel asked calmly. He could not even bring himself to shout. In fact, he was even struggling to ask questions that were not silly, because while they talked and he listened to Ciara, he was still trying to clear out his confusion.“Yes,” Ciara answered soberly.“How on earth d
