Chapter 47: We don't get to have a say.

Kylian's POV

Her voice sounded different, like she had spent centuries trying to perfect it. It shifted from the bossy and pitchy tune she always had to a strange sound that made me look at her in disgust. What was she trying to do showing up here.

My mother beside me had already started glowing up in excitement. She always loved Jennifer, her reasons unknown but I sensed a few of it was because of how influential Jennifer's parents, the Gabriel's, were.

“Jennifer, get the hell out of my face before I force you to,” I warned, stepping forward in anger.

“Oh my goodness. Is this how you plan to do it?” She inquired. Her response was different, she usually quaked in terror whenever I got furious but seeing her now, something's changed.

Whatever it was, I wasn't curious to find out. I was about to send my guards to throw her out when Maya came in out of nowhere. I exchanged glances between her and Jennifer. Why now? Couldn't she have waited a fe

The toddler held my arms as though gripping me with an aim to survive. He wanted me to hold him, embrace him and point at his milky teeth that he shone widely. I wanted to return him back as fast as I could but he refused to let go. He smiled sheepishly and looked to Jennifer, wondering if he it was alright to hold me.“Hans, it's alright. He's your father,” she said, causing me to flinch. I glared at her and she returned a contorted look my way. His dark locks of hair were on my skin, I could feel they were about the same texture as mine. The eyes screamed mine and his face was an incarnation of mine. I could say none of Jennifer's genes were visible on him, just mine. Denying him would be a lack of responsibility on my path. I turned my face to Maya, she was frozen staring at the little kid on my hands. She could

Chapter 49: Not for the Weak spirited Kylian's POV “A hotel,” She whispered. “A hotel,” I repeated, wondering what they were doing in a hotel. Jennifer never mentioned going to a party in a hotel. I wondered what led her there and thought to myself that they might have changed a venue or something. It still didn't sit well with me. I went into a spiral of thoughts, I couldn't bear to think that something bad happened to my mate. If only I had raised an issue with it, if I had forced myself to follow her just once in my life, then she wouldn't be in her distressed condition. With a zoom, I got to the posh hotel. This was a hotel for rich, luxurious people. A hotel known to everyone to house people who had wealth and affluence, Jennifer's niche. It wasn't no surprise that this hotel drew her attention. The lights around the hotel shone from miles away, standing out from various other building around it. The lights moved to all directions and the services there was almost divine. I

Chapter 50: Compromise or cast out!Kylian's POV “You have betrayed me. I always thought you'd have my back,” Jennifer sniffled, tearing up in regret. She had not yet looked at me straight in the eyes, yet she was encapsulated with guilt. I could read it all over the room. Not only was guilt parading it, Betrayal struck my heart. She broke all the trust I had for her as her supposed close friend broke hers with pleasure. I turned to the lady again, she had a satisfied smirk on her face as Jennifer cried. She was filled with contention as though her plans to ruin Jennifer's life took her a century to cook up. While Jennifer was about to plead her case, and Cecilia holding herself from leaping for joy, I was hopeless.Hopelessly immersed in my pain. I came here to beat the shit out of the schmuck who dared to touch my mate only to discover that she wanted to be touch. She wanted to give it to them lustfully. A piercing pain grappled my chest as she called my name.“Baby,” she paused

Chapter 51: Look dread in the eyes.Maya's POV Was I born only to be a second to one? Why couldn't things go my way like the others? All the months I spent, thinking my pregnancy was special. I had the son of an Alpha, maybe not Kylian's, but an Alpha's pups were literally growing in me.Why couldn't it just remain the way it was? Was it necessary for me to go through pain? I cried myself to sleep the day Jennifer walked into my life with an electrifying energy. She had not spoken to me once but I could sense she was here to push me out. Now I had to fight for attention with a professional; someone who could do it so effortlessly. “No, please. This can't be it,” I said holding myself. The image of Kylian holding her kid in his arms horrified me. I never expected a kid could become a threat to me? He had so much love in his eyes. There was a fire and determination in his eyes that I had never seen him with. His cold attitude couldn't help but melt before my very eyes. What were the

I expected it to come soon enough, that was how predictable I thought Jennifer was going to be.One chill and cozy night, I had just returned from the woods. Nobody told me setting my wolf at night to roam free, hunt and howl at the moon was relaxing and fun. My feets were wet with mud as I shifted back and stealthily walked into my room. I had a shower and ate the food Marianne left for me on my side table. She was usually aware that I left the palace but never said a word to anyone. After I had eaten to my fill, I laid on my back and waited to drown myself to sleep.“I can't with this anymore,” I heard a scream from the deeper path of the palace. With all the lights Kylian had in his home, I always refused to walk down there in fear that I would bump into Jennifer.I thought of standing up to eavesdrop

I thought her voice was parched and out of tune. She knew what she was doing and unfortunately I had nothing to play victim with.“He can't go on crying like this. Please Kylian,” Jennifer said after a long wait of singing her lullaby. It felt like using Hans wasn't working at all and she needed validation.“Alright, let's change the room,” Kylian voiced.A bomb dropped in me, detonating the instant as Kylian tucked his hands into his robe. “What the hell,” I forced out my expression. This was the first time I lashed out to a public and I quickly regretted ever speaking up. “I knew it,” Jennifer yelled back, “You'd rather see my son suffer than…”“No, I didn't mean it that way,” I interrupted knowing where she was going. If she wanted to paint me pitch black, I wasn't supposed to relax and wa

Chapter 54: The line in between.Maya's POV I thought my presence in Kylian's room would be a bliss and it would leave me dreaming more of him. No, it wasn't. Each night, I had to fight the urge to not look desperate. We were always left looking awkward each time we laid. My legs would mistakenly hit his and we would usher ourselves into an uninterrupted hour of pointless apology. Sometimes, I would watch him sleep while I let my imagination take me far into wonderland. This would have continued if Jennifer wasn't such a spiteful being. My new placement made her seethe in anger. She never looked me in the eyes after our room incidence but that never meant she quitted. She made a big deal out of treatment I received for being pregnant“Who gives a shit if she's pregnant,” Jennifer complained “I was also pregnant and I wasn't laying around like an old hag,” She didn't care if I was seated there or Kylian was breezing past. I was already wondering if I had overstepped my boundaries but he raised his head and put his right hand into his pockets.“Of course, I do,” What a relief! I heaved a sigh and swirled my hair, bracing up to ask the next question.“No surprise there,” I replied “I'm pretty sure she was a nice person,” Rex twisted his mouth in curiosity and blinked at me. He caught on to what I needed from him and with a snicker he replied.“Yeah, she was nice.” He paused. That was the opposite of what I was expecting “Only if you were Kylian or Mrs Castle,” he said after a long wait.“What? She wasn't nice at all to you,” He shook his head and inserted his left hand into his pocket “No, she wasn't. Why would she need to?” He asked, his tone dripping with sarcasm.“I just thought she is a little off to me. I didn't know you

Of course it was going to be the whining simp to break first. My muscles felt like they were contorting as she stepped forward to save herself. I couldn't believe a war frightened Mrs Castle so much. Wasn't she supposed to be the wife of an Alpha? How weak willed could she be. I gnashed my teeth and glared subtly at her.She was ruining my chances. I knew Kylian was about to do it anyways, but at least I knew if they engaged in a battle it would buy me time to flee faraway with some loot.Surprisingly, just a moment ago when I had been gasping for an incident to intervene, I quickly changed and coiled back wishing for a reverse. “Anything but this, please,” I muttered.“Anything but telling Kylian the truth,” I repeated. Chapter 76: The smart move of a con.Jennifer's POV.The night I had with Dexter was risky but worth it. I needed Dexter as much as our passion burned all night long.Since the start when I knew him, he always had a dark intention that he kept secret. He wanted to be the Alpha of the Red Phoenix Pack but he wasn't strong enough to challenge the mighty Alpha, Kylian. Some years ago, I was in bed with a stranger I invited over. Mere minutes from embracing him, Dexter stormed in with an emergency for Kylian but he was not around. He caught me holding hands with the stranger, I thought I was done for, especially when he kicked the stranger out. I begged him to keep my secret and I was also afraid that I would have to eliminate one of Kylian's trusted guards but tables turned for me in a way that I never expected.“Since when have you been cheating on Kylian,” Dexter asked me in an old, dusty room.“This is my first. I haven't done it yet but I'm not happy in this relationship and I don't

No one did, but I couldn't be happier for getting the edge over maya.“The main deal will always be preferred over some side piece,” I clasped my hands and fell to my bed in excitement. “Jennifer, Kylian's Luna. It sounds great. Oh, it must suck to be Maya right now,” I laughed loudly and rolled happily from each ends of my bed. Only a matter of time, then I'd woo his heart, move into his room and give him the time of his life. “A girl would do or another son,” I whispered to myself “We will have children to mark our reunion and the only thing I gotta do this time is not get caught,” A smirk escaped my lips and I willfully let out more, giggling like I was in a fantasy island that tickled me all night. The speck of optimism that I had of Maya's presence had faded and the cool my parent's maintained, thinking I'd be sad and accept Jennifer, failed miserably. As Rex bowed his head to leave, my mother jumped forward to me, her face filled with worry.“Kylian you can't be serious. Don't tell me you plan to go into war because of a girl,”I glared fiercely at her and clenched my fists “A girl, huh? You still refer to her as a rando,”“Well, let me be clear. Those neighbouring packs have been daring for some time now and I will stop at nothing to get Maya back,” “Huh,” Jennifer muttered in disbelief.“This is madness,” my father interjected “You can't just march in to another territory and make demand without evidence. What are you? A tyrant,”“If that's going to get Maya for me, then I'd happily do it,” I fired back.“Son, let's take a breather. You are not thinking straight, okay,” my mother begged, clasping her

She never wanted to talk about it and I just believed her. For the first time that I tried to keep my guard down, the worse happened. If I had my senses at an alert, I would have known when she got out of bed. I would have woken up with her and kept an eye for her.“I have told you. I know nothing of her disappearance,” Jennifer hurled her right arm at me and dragged her wrist out of my grasp. She was trying to get the attention of my parents. I could see the fear on her eyes, her legs were shaking miserably and sweat filled her face. “Nice try, Jen. You lied against her and put on an act yesterday, now she's gone and you expect me to believe you,” I uttered.“If you don't provide answers for me, I'll throw you in my prison,” “Then do it,” she clapped back. “I have been spending an eternity trying to beg for your forgiveness, but w

Chapter 72: A feeling of indifference.Kylian's POV The silence was piercing as I caught the faint resound of my echo. My little worry turned into anxiety and my anger began to simmer. I was sure she would be in the garden but she wasn't. Where the hell could she be in my palace? Absolutely, nowhere. The garden was the only place I frequently saw her but it was empty as a hollow box.I hurried to the kitchen in high hopes. She had to be there. There was no familiarity with Maya and the kitchen but I could not think of anywhere. “Maybe, she's trying to surprise me,” I tried to assure myself “She's there. I know it,”I imagined seeing her preparing breakfast and chatting with the maids. My hopes quelled my anger and stealthily, the speed of my pace increased massively.I had almost started running when I stopped and forced myself to relax “Nothing is wrong. Get a grip,” I tried to reassure myself. My confidence took a low spike downwards and I was a few minutes coming to an awful rea

Chapter 71: There's a rat in here.KYLIAN'S POV I laid sprawled across my plush fur lined bed, my chest rising and falling in rhythm. The night before this morning had been intense with passion. The bed was still warm with Maya's soft touch. I couldn't help but roll over to hold her by the waist.I grabbed a pillow instead and threw it softly after I failed to grab her waist but a satisfied smile still etched on my face. The memories of last night played nonstop in my head.I had totally forgotten how awesome it was when Maya and I got frisky together.I had slept enough and it was time I woke up to see her face in reality. I wanted to plant a tender kiss on her neck, something I believed would have been enough to set us in a mood.As my eyes blew open, the light from the morning sun, shone brightly to my direction. It revealed the empty space beside me, causing me to sweep the room with my eyes, my eyebrows slightly furrowed. The room was empty. Maya was gone.My instincts quickly

Any delays, and I make you pay for keeping me waiting,” I lurked behind my door, eavesdropping on Mrs Castle. The call she was making seemed pretty important. I'd say urgent because there was a threat attached. “Marianne has ratted me out? No it can't be that. She can't be making a call this subtly. Maybe Kylian is pissed and I have something to do with it,” So many thoughts ran through my head as I listened attentively.Piece by piece, Fear began to crawl its way through my skin, making me bite my fingers out of caution. “Things couldn't have gotten so heated with the setup we orchestrated” I hoped it was but only for Maya. “Jennifer,” Mrs Castle knocked softly on my door “Jennifer Gabriel,” she called again and I just froze, my head blank from fright. What was she doing here, I asked myself. We had already spoken and she promised to talk to her son. But with the tune of her voice, I suspe

Chapter 69: Goodbye, Red Phoenix Pack Maya's POV The wardrobe squeaked open again and I heaved in frustration. I took care of the squeaking by hiding my bags at the far end of the wardrobe. The last thing I wanted was for Kylian to find out about my plan. He was too kind to me, I couldn't break the news to him. He would try to stop me, claiming he wanted his child and the end of our contract. That was where my fear stemmed from. I wanted to be with them forever. Being a contracted mate sucked, I wanted more. I positioned the little things I would take on my journey to strategic places, making sure he wouldn't suspect the first second he entered. After I was done hiding my bags, I paced around the room waiting for his entry. Few minutes later, I heard noises at the door. I had exhausted my patience and longed to see him. I couldn't control myself, I rushed to the door and flung it open.A maid stood there with curious eyes, gaping at a brown envelope on her hands. She immediately
