Chapter 20

KYLIAN’S POV

Marianne raised her eyes to look at me but my glacier look sent them wandering back to the floor.

“A prin… princess. A pack…princess getting sick in the first trimester is most times not ordinary at all,” She stuttered, her voice shaky and anxious. “I'm pretty sure an external force might be at play,”

She was right. I had almost forgotten that external influences couldn't be read by mere diagnosis. My face lit up in optimism as our grip tightened.

She didn't want to let go and I wasn't ready to leave just yet. I watched her for sometime until I gathered courage to slip my hand out of her palm.

As for Marianne’s, she stood there waiting for my command. I glanced at her and ordered her to stand and watch over Maya while I made plans.

“Marianne, keep watch over her. I'll be back,”

“Yes sir,” she replied, moving towards the corner of the large bed.

I rushed out of the room with the choice I was about to make weighing me down mentally.

Chapter 21KYLIAN’S POVI was astonished, blank at what action to take next while the woman stood there with a captivating aura that unveiled how harmless and lethal she could be at the same time. “Who are you?” I shot with a deep, assertive voice, snapping my fist for battle.“I was summoned by an Alpha, I answered, thus here I am,” she bowed her head again and stopped smiling. She raised her head and looked at me with a serious expression “You know it's forbidden for a healer to ignore the calls of an Alpha,”I never knew that, I only pretended to be unamazed at the reply she gave me but deep down I was in awe. Seconds ago, I was prepared to attack any healer I knew of but as at this moment, I was calm, amazed and impressed.“Why am I here, Alph…”“Quick, my mate has fallen Ill,” I interrupted. I couldn't wait for her to finish just like she couldn't reveal herself to me outside. She nodded and waited for me to lead the way, I could say I waited for her to follow me. Her steps were

Chapter 22MAYA'S POVMy disdain for the statements he threw my way was overwhelming. I wonder how he could expect me to act calm after finding out about his attempts to read my mind. Not ever. I crossed my arms and frowned deeply.I knew I wasn’t in the right place or power to talk back to him when he followed me to my room. Dare I say his room, because I was just a guest with a year long contract. The back and forth would have continued if he had not shown me a stern, shocking side of him. It was in every Alpha but I couldn't have seen it coming, his cold looks couldn't do shit to help me by warning beforehand. I kept firing my reply, forgetting what I was even in my previous pack.In a sudden twist, one that I wasn't prepared for, he quaked. “Count yourself lucky today Maya, but know that you might not be so lucky some other time,” his deep, menacing voice resounded in my ears as I watched him storm out. I got scared. Scared of my life, scared of whatever he was going to do. Call

Chapter 23MAYA'S POVI tried getting a quick reply by making a troubled face but they busied themselves trying to catch their breaths.“Is there a problem?” I asked, persistent on getting my answer. One of the men raised his head and glanced at me.“I…I,” he stuttered, hitting his thighs. I almost chuckled at their funny stances but I bit my tongue and held back a light cough from jumping out of my mouth.“Sent,” he continued “Our Alpha has sent for you, ma'am,”. This time, they all stood straight like buoyant armies ready for battle. “Me,” I echoed, pointing to my chest as I shone my eyes.“Yes, you. And I'll advise you be fast about it. I'm pretty sure you heard him shout,” “Alright, give me a minute to come out,” I replied as they watched the door squeak shut on their faces. I leaned my back to the wall and exhaled quietly. “I have to see him, huh,” I whispered Surely this did not require Marianne to pick a dress for me or watch me make a choice. Infact, I haven't seen her walk

A weak attempt to convince me I was alright. After that she slipped back to the doctor's side and ushered him out. I was going to die. This was unfair. I lived all my life in ridicule and a second to all and now when I finally found something to hold onto, life decided to push me out of its cold shade. Of course, I was sure of my predicament. Why else would the doctor put on a scared face? Why else would Kylian pretend to hold his anger while Marianne vanished out of sight? His Luna was about to leave him, finally he could have a chance at finding his real mate and not a fake like me.The tears that formed in my eyes refused to fall down. They were held back by the strange scene that played before me; Marianne bowed on her feet and addressed her master. It was awful to watch with no warnings

Chapter 25: A maze of thoughtsMAYA'S POV There was no car on sight. We looked at our right and left a thousand times but nothing revved its engine our way, not even a bicycle whistled its way down our path. I turned to Madeline to give her a signal. To my greatest surprise, before I could get a response from her, she slipped her hands out of mine and hopped into the road like a kangaroo. My face turned into a glass of horror as worry wash down my feet. How could she jump off without my knowledge? The crazy girl didn't care to look back, she took her time to hop peacefully to her destination. I was about to join her and grab her hands when the sound of a steaming engine lingered in my ear. It revved like it was at full speed ahead, throttling in our direction. I looked to the right and saw nothing but the teaming heat of the tarred road evaporating to the sky. With that, I quickly turned to the left, a black sport car catching my attention. It drove at an alarming speed, enough to

Chapter 26: The curse is liftedMaya's pov I had to be dreaming or my dizziness had structured into a full blown hallucination. Even if I was seeing illusions, I wasn't supposed to hear it. My ears weren't working properly, so why now? What changed? My eyes shone open like I had been asleep for years and decided to wake up. I locked contact with Kylian but he avoided mine only giving me a glance that said everything he could ever say to meHe whispered some words to Marianne and pointed to the healer. If I had any doubts in my veins, his assuring composure made me take his words. Finally, my curse was going to be lifted. I didn't know what to say to him, I couldn't even talk. “Thank you,” the words flew right out of my mouth. Kylian stared at me to check if I was okay and with the movement of my lips, he nodded lightly.I was with his child. He must have felt obligated to take care of me. I felt the genuity of his nod, it was reassuring like he wanted to do it. I moved my eyes to

She held her stomach and hit her thighs, grappling her legs for support. I wondered what made her react that way but more importantly I felt like I had said something wrong.“I'm sorry ma'am,” she continued laughing, struggling to contain her laughter “I shouldn't be doing this, I just can't hold myself,”“Did I say anything wrong,” I questioned looking straight at her “No ma'am, pardon my indecency.” She curtsied and exhaled loudly “It seems like you underestimate your mate's riches,” she echoedMarianne moved closer to me and jolted her fingers up “His wealth is more than enough for generations to come even if they lavish it. Chapter 28: A long meeting MAYA'S POV “Am I?” I muttered in self-doubt. I was going to or I thought so. It wasn't my fault that I feared shift after trying all my life to do just that. What if the healer left certain crumbs of the curse and when I decide to shift, then boom! Something bad happens. I thought of the worst scenerio that could ever happen to me and my unborn child. As for the Alpha, Kylian, who I felt bad for using, he was a pressure that refused to quit. Sometimes his constant remindal of me to try shifting, left me thinking of who was eager to shift. Could my wolf be a spectacle to him or he wanted to pride himself in seeing me transform.None of those questions were answered but I tried daily to see if the curse had been lifted per Kylian’s request. “Calm your mind and relax your muscles, you've got nothing to fear,” his cold, reassuring voice rang in my ears. It was during one of the numerous sessions he created to teach me to shift.“Your wolf can read your emot

I took care of the squeaking by hiding my bags at the far end of the wardrobe. The last thing I wanted was for Kylian to find out about my plan. He was too kind to me, I couldn't break the news to him. He would try to stop me, claiming he wanted his child and the end of our contract. That was where my fear stemmed from. I wanted to be with them forever. Being a contracted mate sucked, I wanted more. I positioned the little things I would take on my journey to strategic places, making sure he wouldn't suspect the first second he entered. After I was done hiding my bags, I paced around the room waiting for his entry. Few minutes later, I heard noises at the door. I had exhausted my patience and longed to see him. I couldn't control myself, I rushed to the door and flung it open.A maid stood there with curious eyes, gaping at a brown envelope on her hands. She immediately

I inhaled deeply and said “No,” confidently.“I don't need your money,” I declared, standing boldly and looking them straight in the eyes. Chapter 66: It's time I said goodbye Maya's POV They wanted me gone. Jennifer had gotten into their head and taken her first step. What terrorized me was catching Kylian giving his mother a nod. It could have been for anything but he looked affirming. His eyes glowed with interest like he was desperate to give her an answer. “I will not,” I cried, holding my chest for self comfort. I would not look like a fool in people's eyes anymore. Madeline took the crown jewel from me; Barry. He wasn't mine from the start because he never confessed he love me I watched him go up to the podium and chose my twin sister over me. History wasn't going to repeat itself, I resolved in my mind.Instead of watching him pick Jennifer over me, I'd rather leave faraway from where they could never trace me. I would not be decieved for a second time. I gazed at my stomach, it was large and protruding. Daily, I could feel the early signs that I was about to give birth. It felt closer each day but it didn't

Maya was supposed to attack me when I hit her but shockingly she stood frozen, lost and confused. She was supposed to retaliate and scream back at me. A big fight was supposed to happen, making me look like an angry mother defending her son. Instead, Maya opted out for her usual calm demeanor. With Mr and Mrs Castle racing out to witness the commotion, I knew we not only had to lie that she hit my son but we had to convince them that we got in a fight. “I've done everything to make things right. I don't want problem anymore,” I cried “All she had to was mind her buisness,” “It's okay, honey. You did what every mother would do,” Mrs Castle consoled me.“Was the fight necessary?” I asked “I only wanted to stop her from going wild on my son. I maintained my calm and waited for her snap out of her short rebellious stage.“I haven't had a free time to speak to you since you came,” Marianne gave up, dropping to her knees in panic. I smirked in satisfaction, my lips pouting as she bowed her head in fear. “I thought you were about to lash out,” I fixed my attention at the silly teacups on the tray and tapped on my chair “You certainly have forgotten who I am,”“No ma'am, I'd never forget. I was enraged when I got to know of her relationship with Kylian.“This can't happen, not when I want him back,” I cried “Are people so thirsty to get in my nerves or what?”I was sick of living alone. I wanted Alpha Kylian back at no cost. His pack was greater than before and I genuinely missed him. But there was a catch, someone had allegedly snatched his heart, and it wasn't anyone ordinary. She had a ravishing beauty, her eyes glowed like emeralds and her hair swooped down her shoulders. She was a tough competition to my beauty and she spoiled my hopes of breezing back into Kylian's life without lifting a finger. I was smart but I hated losing. I hissed and continued walking, sensing her taking troubled steps away from me. “What the hell is going on with her?” I muttered, disgusted by everything. “Kylian,” my mom waved at me from her room, forcing me to wait. I tried guessing what she was about to tell me as everyday was a mystery with her. Sometimes she'd complain about herself and talk all through without actually seeking my advice and some days, she'd recount her day and point out life would be boring without her. This was going to be different. I saw it in her face, in the way she marched vehemently towards me. She was a raging storm waiting to be calmed down.“What happened this time?” I complained and sighed in frustration. I had no need to take a

My mother wanted her back and my father loved her figure in the public's eyes but none of them knew who she truly was. I knew part of the reason was because I couldn't bring myself to tell them that their precious pick for me was nothing special at all. It was part of Jennifer's nature to be catty, so it wasn't a surprise when I gave her a place in my home and she resolved to pick enmity with Maya. I saw it on her face at the moment Maya walked in on us. She could recognize that I loved her and Jennifer strode to wreck it apart using any means necessary. It wasn't to her knowledge that using Hans as a weapon against Maya was out of hand. Anytime Jennifer could get my attention, She would do it without thinking twice.
