They got to Remus' huge mansion soon and as soon as they got there, Slyvia went straight to her room. She wasn't in the mood or had the energy to converse with anyone who didn't give two shits about her. She was better off on her own and she knew quite well that she could and would survive.
Slyvia slammed the door shut with an angry look on her face. Now that she was married, there was no escape. She was bound to be with him for the rest of her life with certainly no hope of coming back out.
This was their wedding day, a day they ought to be much closer than ever before but the reverse was the opposite. They were strangers and in fact, in that moment, Slyvia could liken themselves to being enemies. It was very sad to say the least and even though she could do nothing to change the way things are, she would just have to accept it that way.
''I hate him, i hate this place.'' she seethed.
Every moment she thought about Remus and the situation she found herself in, she got sad. It was hopeless and so very frustrating because there was really nothing she could do about it.
Sylivia sighed, looking out the window. It was a beautiful day with clear sky, a perfect day to enjoy your honeymoon with your husband but that wasn't her case. She was doomed to stay and live with a horrid man like him.
With horror, she realized that what Remus had told her was the beginning of the slow and painful start to their marriage and the worst thing was that there was nothing she or anyone could do.
Just then, she heard a knock on her room door. One thing she knew was that it could never be Remus. He was too bitter in his heart to come see her especially after what he said to her.
''Who is it?'' Slyvia asked.
''Bret.''
She was so not expecting him and after that awkward incident, she didn't know how to act around him. This was not how she planned the entire day.
''Oh great!'' she sighed before walking towards the door.
As soon as she opened it, Bret gave her a hug. At that moment, Slyvia didn't know how to feel because there was a strange emotion going through her that she couldn't quite understand. It was very odd to say the least.
''Hi Bret, come in.'' she smiled.
She was trying all she could to be friendly but she could tell that she was failing in it miserably. There were so many things wrong with this meeting.
''Congratulations.'' he smiled.
''Thanks.'' Slyvia said without much enthusiasm.
Bret sighed, going over to sit on the couch. He knew how she was feeling and he couldn't blame her. Anyone who was with Remus was bound to feel miserable and hopeless, he just had this ability of sucking someone's happiness away. He made you feel worthless which wasn't a good thing at all.
''I know how you feel about Slyvia, trust me I do . But I want you to know that Remus is a good guy. Though he might get a little insensitive at times, he is a good guy. Trust me.'' he smiled.
Slyvia was glad that he was doing everything to make her feel better but Remus' words kept on coming back to her with full force. She couldn't help but see his words as a threat and she knew she had to be very smart or else, she would fall into his trap.
''I appreciate you doing this but you and I know that Remus doesn't give two shits about me. He hates me, Bret, he sees me as a spoiled brat who just found her way here through luck and connections and last but not the least, he married me because of his father. You see Bret, Remus doesn't like me one bit and the last thing I would do is to force myself on someone who doesn't give two shits about me. I would never do that.'' Slyvia said with anger in her voice.
Bret remained quiet, thinking over her words. He knew she was right and there was nothing he could do about it because Remus wasn't going to change overnight. His attitude and behavior was ingrained already in his mind and attempting to change him would be like attempting to find fire within the ocean which was impossible.
''Then you just have to tolerate him, that's all. I know you'll be fine at the end, don't you worry.''
he said.
Slyvia badly wanted to believe that but she was finding it too difficult to do that. She couldn't see the good in Remus that Bret was talking about. All she saw was how evil he was and how self centered he was.
''For your sake, i'm going to believe that.'' Slyvia smiled.
Bret moved towards her, taking her hands in his. A moment passed through them and both of them couldn't deny the fact that they actually felt something pass through them. Slyvia didn't know what it was but one thing she knew was that she couldn't allow it to bloom. It would be very disastrous, which was something she wasn't ready for.
''Er… thank you… i need to take a bath now please so…'' Slyvia babbled.
''Oh right! Yes, i should go.'' Bret smiled, nervously.
He made his way out of the room, shutting the door silently. Behind the door, he took a deep breath, expelling out the air that nearly choked him. What had happened within the space of a few minutes was something he had never experienced in his life before. That wasn't normal and he knew it.
Slyvia wasn't his mate, she belonged to Remus so why on earth was he having a feeling about her.
''This better be a joke, i didn't bargain for all of this.'' he murmured.
He made his way back to the courtyard where he had been all morning. He knew he needed to get his head in the right place. Thinking those thoughts about Slyvia wasn't good for him and the earlier he removed his mind from it, the better for him.
''Get a hold of yourself Bret, she's untouchable.'' he chided himself.
He looked at the sky, wishing that somehow, it could tell him the answers he desperately needed to hear.
Remus
''Now, i can call you king right?'' a voice said.
I didn't need to look back to know that it was that bitch of a woman, Danielle who spoke. I didn't know what she wanted. Recently, I noticed that she was always all over me. It was getting annoying and i really wished she could just get the fuck out of my house.
''Yes.'' I clipped.
The earlier she realized that I wasn't feeling her, the better for her. She could go die for all I cared and I wouldn't mind at all. She was a pest, a pest I desperately wanted to get rid of and the earlier I did that, the better for me.
''What do you want Daniell?'' I asked.
She was getting more and more annoying by the minute without letting me know what she really wanted.
''Oh… nothing. I was just passing by and decided to congratulate you, now that you're the king and the Alpha and oh… also to tell you that i saw Bret coming out of Slyvia's room.'' she giggled.
That surely had my attention. I snapped my head towards her, staring at her intently to see if what she was saying was the truth. My wolf sense kicked in, rooting into her mind and I discovered with horror that she was telling the truth. Bret was really in Slyvia's room.
''When did this happen?'' I clipped.
''Just before i got here but i'm sure it's nothing serious.'' she smiled, walking towards me.
My wolf could sense her from a mile away and in that moment, she was aroused. I felt sick to the stomach because she was Slyvia's friend for crying out loud. Didn't people understand the meaning of loyalty? It was very clear to me that Danielle was a very bad friend.
''Get out of my room.'' I snapped.
I didn't care if I sounded rude or insulting because really, that was the only emotion running through my veins at that moment. Rage, that was all I saw. I considered what Bret and Slyvia were doing the highest insult ever and I wasn't going to just sit back and pretend like nothing happened.
''Oh… are you angry? Is it because of what i said?'' she asked.
I could see her lies through her words. She didn't care that I was angry about it. As a matter of fact, she was delighted that I took pleasure in getting angry over it. That was her full intention, what she wanted me to feel from the beginning.
''Danielle, leave.'' I said.
The tension around the room was intoxicating and I knew that any minute from now, my wolf could take over and when it did, it would be too late. My wolf was a raging beast that had no control when it was angry. It could destroy everything and anyone along its path without a single care if it was hurting anyone else or not.
''Okay… okay, i'm leaving but you shouldn't be too hard on Slyvia though. I'm guessing Bret went to control her seeing that you're not a very fun person to be with.'' she said the last words to spite me.
I was very proud of myself for not losing it even after all of that she spewed out from her mouth. She shut the door with a heavy bang, rattling all of the handles. That had been done with a force so strong.
Without another minute to spare, I went in search of Bret. If I needed answers to this strange behavior, it was from him I would get it from. Slyvia might not even open the door for me not to talk of me talking to her and I couldn't blame her for it because I had actually hurt her feelings.
My world sniffed Bret out and I realized that he wasn't within the mansion which only meant that he was outside but doing what? I followed the trail of his scent which led me to the courtyard. There, I found him reclining on one of the garden chairs, his eyes fixed to the sky. Was he really thinking about my girl?
That was unlikely because I didn't think Bret was someone like that. or was he? These thoughts left me all the more confused and angry.
''Bret!'' I snapped.
He was startled, judging by the way he jumped up in fear and agony. He looked around for the source of the voice until he saw me standing at a corner of the garden. I hadn't even been very close to him but due to my wolf powers amplifying my voice, it made it much louder.
''Remus, you scared me. Is everything alright?'' he asked, putting a hand on his chest.
''Dramatic much.''
I walked towards him without saying anything. I wanted him to feel the tension going off of him. I wanted him to know that why I was here was very important.
''A little birdie tells me that you were in Slyvia's room. Why?''
My father had taught me that that was the best way of catching a liar. You threw the words directly at the person, leaving the person blank and in no position to defend himself. That was the right way, the only way.
''Yes, I was there,'' he admitted.
Remus was impressed by how fast he accepted the accusation. This only told him that he wasn't hiding anything. If Bret was telling a lie or hiding something, he would never have come out to admit something like that so fast.
''And might I ask why. What was your purpose there?'' I asked.
Bret looked at me like I had suddenly lost my mind. I didn't blame him though, I was sure that if I looked in the mirror, I could be likened to one who had gone completely banshee.
''Give me a break Remus. Your wife is miserable. You guys wedded today and it's not even showing at all. Do you think I'm a fool not to realize that you might have said something terrible to her to make her feel miserable? Of course, I went there to console her.'' he said, rolling his eyes.
I sighed, looking everywhere but at him. I came here to accuse him but now, the tables had turned with him accusing me and this time around, i was at fault.
''Bret, you know it was never my intention to get married to her. You of all people know that right?'' I sighed.
I made my way towards where the seat he had vacated. I didn't know why talks about Slyvia made me sad and out. The truth was that I never bargained for any of this. I was forced. Forced to get married to someone I didn't love.
''But you know you both have been betrothed since birth right?'' he said.
''I know.'' I simply said,
''And you of all people shouldn't be surprised that this is happening. It's been something you were trained for all your life so why do you feel suddenly surprised?'' Bret said.
I knew he was right but I'd rather eat my head than admit it. That was how stubborn I was and this was something I couldn't just change overnight.
''I guess we just have to tolerate each other.'' I sighed.
''Exactly what I told her. You both should calm down and actually get to know each other, it would do you a lot of good.'' Bret said.
Tolerance? That word sounded very strange to me because I usually delivered justice immediately when someone offended me. That was just how I was, how I was trained and built.
''I know what you're thinking about but I think it's time you cut off all of that. You aren't getting any younger Remus and the earlier you realize this, the better for you.'' he said.
I hated that everything he was saying was the truth. It just made me feel like a bad person which I really wasn't.
''I'll try.'' I sighed.
''I'm counting on that. First, I want you to begin with dinner this evening with her. Talk to her, get to know her and her pack and you'd be very surprised about what you learn about her. Slyvia is a very funny girl but you don't know that right?'' he laughed.
He tapped me on my shoulder, holding it a bit tighter before letting go. I couldn't help but think that what he did was a plea and also a warning.
''Alright fine, i'll see what i can do.'' I sighed.
''Don't see man, I want you to try.'' he laughed.
Guess it was time to tolerate her which was something I wasn't looking forward to.
Slyvia''Ma'am… dinner is ready.'' my maid said. The poor girl had been standing for a few minutes now without me answering her. I didn't want to be a spoiled brat like Remus said I was but at that moment, I didn't have the strength to go downstairs for food. ''Ma'am.'' she said again.''I'm sorry. I'll go down now.'' I smiled. She smiled before leaving the room. I rose up from the chair I was sitting on before making my way downstairs. I might as well get it over with and focus on other things I wanted to do that evening. As I got to the dining area, I stopped in my tracks when I saw someone I didn't want to see at all. Remus. What was he doing here? I thought he usually ate in his chambers? Why the sudden change of events.I gingerly made my way towards the table, careful to sit at a chair farthest from him. I stared at him as I tried to make sense of the look in his eyes but I couldn't. Everything was emotionless.''Good evening Slyvia.'' he said without emotion.I could only mumb
RemusI couldn't lie to myself that what Slyvia said hurt me a whole lot. The bite and sting in her voice hurt me a lot but the last thing I would do was to see how much she hurt me. I would rather eat sand than allow her to see that she actually got to me.''Bitch!'' I hissed. Her disgusting attitude and behavior was going to get her into trouble one day and I would be there to watch her downfall and also laugh at her.I made my way back to my room. There were many things I needed to do and the earlier I got on with it, the better for me. I didn't have time to worry about someone like her when there were other things I could worry about.Slyvia was of no importance to me and in that moment, I knew I needed to put her in her place. That was the best thing I could do to someone like her.''So… how did it go?'' a voice said.I didn't need to look back to know that it was Bret who spoke. He was very inquisitive as well as nosey and would always want to know everything that was going on a
Slyvia Soon, I was ready for bed but still, I couldn't get Remus' words out of my head. It was getting annoying, having to think about what he said the whole time. ''Get him off your head Slyvia.'' I snapped. My wolf was restless but there was nothing actually I could do about it other than to calm down. That was the only thing I could do but it was easier said than done. I thought about other things, wanting to get my mind off of the main thing that was troubling me. That wasn't working and so, I decided to look through my phone to see what I could find in the gossip section. Nothing much was going on well except for the major coverage of my wedding to my billionaire husband. The photographer or whoever was behind the shots really did a good job in capturing the most important details of the wedding. It was all a buzz, something that would be remembered as a fun and special day for everyone else except me. I had to be the only person who wasn't feeling the energy at all. ''All
Slyvia ''This is not happening. It's not possible right?'' I murmured. Everywhere was dead quiet now with most of the staff already retiring for the night. Now, I could think about what she had just read. It was a whole lot, a whole freaking lot and I was finding it difficult to wrap my head around what I had just read. This was too much for one person to bear and I desperately wished there was someone I could tell. I needed someone I could talk to but the only person that kept coming to my head was Danielle. I wasn't sure if i could trust her with this information but judging that i didn't have anyone, she was the only one i could confide in.
Remus''Why do all Lunas have to be stubborn?'' I sighed as I made my way back to my room.My mother was stubborn and the stories I heard from my dad also pointed out to the fact that his mother had also been very stubborn. It just seemed like all the Lunas were following a pattern which was something I found surprising.''i just have to bare it all.'' I sighed.I made my way back to my room, my father's words ringing in my ears. I couldn't afford for what he told me to leak out. I didn't know his aim for doing that but whatever it was, I had a feeling that it was important.
Slyvia got back to her room, a tired mess. She had been out running with Angela, her wolf who was insatiable especially when it came to exercise. Sometimes, Slyvia couldn't keep up with her and simply hoped that the big wolf would get tired easily and just give up but she knew that was like wishing for a unicorn. It was impossible. The only time the big wolf would resist running was if she was sick and too weak to do anything. Luckily for Slyvia, her friend was in, which just made her glad because finally, there would be someone she could talk to. The outing she had with Remus the previous day was a bit too awkward, considering the fact that they had never acted like a couple before and acting it up for the whole world to see was awkward."Hey babe." Danielle said.Danielle was a redhead, her hair usually shone in the morning light whenever she went out for a run. The only time the redhead went for a run was if Slyvia agreed to go with her. If not, she would remain in her room, she
SlyviaThe news I got from Bret was not only disturbing but upsetting. Martins had been the wolves pack enemy for as long as I can remember. He was a sorcerer, a paranormal who had no regard for anyone and seeing that he just struck made alarm bells ring in my ear. None of my friends knew it but Martins was behind my parents death. The memories of that night came to me in brief spurts. I shielded my timid mind from that heartache. If I had the power to forget about everything that had happened, I would in a minute but it wasn't in my power to do so.Being a paranormal has blessed me with immense powers but I'm afraid, forgetting awful memories isn't one of them. If it was possible, I would gladly trade one
RemusI stared at Sylvia with so many emotions running through my mind. I was angry, enraged, sad and bitter. It was easier when I focused on one emotion but to have two to three running through my mind was something I hated. It made me feel uncomfortable, like I was desperately trying to get rid of a stubborn itch from my body.''Boss, what do we do now?'' one of my men asked. The real question was that I didn't know what to do. If it were another person who did this, lord knows i would have killed the person on the spot but this was Slyvia, my mate and wife so it wasn't easy taking a rash decision just like that.''Leave us.''
''Daniella, I'm here. Where are you?'' Remus said as soon as he put his car to a stop. The men he had come with were already on the grounds, taking instructions from Brett and Alpha Lowel back at the mansion. The plan was for him not to engage in any conversation with anyone aside from Daniella so he wouldn't come off as suspicious.''I can see you, just walk straight down.'' she ordered.Remus began doing that, walking down with the phone still placed in his ear. He could hear movement from her end and he had a feeling that she was also trying to reach him.''Stop.'' she said.Remus did that promptly, looking around as he tried to see where she was. The darkness of the place didn't help matters as he was temporarily blind to everything that was around him. Just then, he felt a presence and he knew that Daniella was here.''Hello Remus.'' she said.Remus turned around and he got the shock of his life for two main reasons. For one, she was looking so haggard and unkempt she could be ea
''I have a secure location of where Daniella is.'' Brett said. They were at the dining table that morning when Brett made this announcement. The way he said it told Sylvia and Remus that he was very sure of what he was saying. There was a conviction in his eyes that couldn't be taken away and that could only be found in a person that was a hundred percent sure of himself.''Are you sure about this?'' Remus asked.Alpha Lowell graced them with his presence as they all had dinner together. Martha, who was supposed to be there, had to leave to go see her daughter who had just been put to bed and she wouldn;t be coming back anytime soon.''As sure as me beating you in a game of tennis,'' he said.Remus rolled his eyes, he knew that Brett would never allow him to hear the end of that argument, It was something that would be with both of them for as long as they lived. ''But seriously though, you know where she is?'' Sylvia asked.''Yes, i do.'' Brett said.''Then we need to clamp her down
''How are you doing ma'am?'' Sylvia asked.Since Remus wasn't going to be back on time, Sylvia had taken that opportunity to go see Jacinta's mother but under strict security details. Remus didn't know about this visit and if he knew, Sylvia knew that he would never have allowed her to go. Like he had said before, he wanted twenty four houses within the house.''I'm fine dear and you look so good.'' Jacinta's mother smiled.Sylvia was happy that she was glowing and she was looking relatively better compared to how she was the previous time she met her. There was a considerable improvement in her face which was something she was glad about. Sylvia had no doubts that Jacinta would be happy in her grave.''I could say the same for you.'' Sylvia smiled.''And don't tell me you're with a child?'' she said, looking at her stomach. How she knew was something Sylvia would never be able to understand. She realized that it was probably a mother's thing as a result of her being a mother.''Yes,
''Hello Dear.'' a voice said.Sylvia who was just waking up yawned, stretching her body as she stared at the direction from where the voice came from. She realized that it was Alpha Lowell who spoke. Immediately, Sylvia jumped on her feet, hugging the man whom she could confidently call a friend.''Alpha Lowell!'' Sylvia smiled.''Hello dear.'' he chuckled, hugging her. This was the first time she was seeing him since the attack. He had been like a comfort to her even in times when nothing was comfortable and for that, she was grateful to him.''I'm sorry about what happened?'' he sighed.''It wasn't your fault Alpha. None of it was, please don't blame yourself.'' Sylvia sighed. The last thing she wanted was for him to blame himself over something that wasn't his fault. Daniella and the commander were responsible and she was quite glad that there was one less evil in the city.''How are you feeling and how is my grandchild doing?'' he smiled.''I'm fine Alpha and your grandchild is do
''You suffered my wife, you made her starve knowing fully well that she's pregnant.'' Remus said, brandishing a whip.''I swear! I never knew she's pregnant.'' the commander croaked. He had been badly beaten and he could barely talk. The pain in his voice was evident and Remus wasn't quite done with him yet. He still had many more things under his sleeve that he wanted to dish out to him.''Oh but i'm sure Daniella must have told you right?'' Remus said. The commander grew quiet because he knew he had been caught in his lies. Remus never forgave and he knew these were his final moments on earth. ''Please.'' he begged, struggling with the binds on the chair.Remus walked towards him with venom in his eyes, holding the whip tighter. Without uttering another word, Remus whipped him, watching as it landed on his face. The commander screamed, holding his face in pure agony as the pain cut deep into his skin. He thrashed about but the binds holding him were very tight. There was possibly n
Sylvia whimpered, holding her stomach with a tight grip as she squeezed her eyes shut. The pain she was feeling in that moment couldn't be compared to anything at all. She was hungry, thirsty and she felt at that moment she could actually faint. She couldn't even feel her legs which made it all the more difficult for her to fight for survival.''Where am i?'' she whispered.Even her voice was cracked which wasn't helping matters even if she wanted to scream for help. Just then, the door leading to where she was kept opened with a bang. Sylvia jumped in fright just as she saw a familiar figure walk in. She didn't know if it was a figment of her imagination or if who she was seeing was really real but one thing she knew was that she knew who walked in.''I told you I would get you didn't i?'' the figure laughed.''Daniella? What is the meaning of this?'' Sylvia whimpered.Daniella laughed, walking closer to her like a predator about to catch its prey. The look in her eyes was one of no
''Where could she be?'' Remus asked. The call he got a few moments ago was to tell him that they knew Sylvia's whereabouts. All he had to do was come to a venue they were going to send to him alone. Remus knew this was a kidnapping scene and he knew he had to be very careful because he knew the condition his wife was in.He didn't want anything to happen to her because she was carrying his child and if anything happened to her, he would never forgive himself. Everything was all so strange to him. One minute she was here with him and the next minute, she was gone. When Remus asked for the location, he was told that it would be disclosed to him later. Everything was very suspicious to him and he knew he had to find a solution to it as soon as possible.''She's pregnant for god's sake!'' Remus seethed. He couldn't understand why anyone could be so wicked as to kidnap a pregnant woman, knowing fully well that she would be of no use to them. The only thing he could suspect about it all was
''You look so pretty.'' Remus gushed.Sylvia was sampling all the dresses he had got for her the previous day and Remus couldn't deny the fact that she was very beautiful in them. She looked like a queen at that moment and he knew he would love her for the rest of his life.''Thank you.'' she smiled, wiggling her butt.Remus knew she was tempting him but he wouldn't give in because he wanted her to rest. It just seemed like ever since she became pregnant, her sex drive had increased by a hundred fold. It was lovely to see but yet, he knew he had to control himself.''I know what you're doing Sylvia but it wouldn't work.'' he said.Sylvia pouted just as they heard a knock on the door. Remus knew it was Brett and he wasn't surprised when his Beta walked in. There was a look of unease in his eyes and Remus knew that something was wrong.''What's going on?'' Remus asked. He needed to know what had happened so he could be on track. It wasn't like Brett to be alarmed and now that he was, Re
The waitress on the other hand was shocked by how Sylvia responded to her and in embarrassment, she hurried away. Sylvia couldn't help but burst out laughing. She had dealt with the waitress real good and in her life she would never hit on another man ever again most especially a married man.''What is wrong with you?'' Remus laughed. He had never seen this side of his wife before, it was a daring side though but yet, he was happy she got to show this side of her.''I knew all along she was hitting on me but i wanted to see what you would do.'' Remus grinned.Sylvia chuckled, picking at her food before putting one forkful into her mouth. Ever since she got pregnant, she had been a very light eater but now, she had no idea where this food cravings came from. Maybe her child needed it and in that moment, Sylvia was happy to oblige.''Are you enjoying your food?'' Remus asked.Aside from the shitty waitress she had just dealt with, the food wasn't bad at all. In fact, it was the best las
