Chapter 5. Escape for a while

The next day, I woke up late in the evening at my huge apartment in the city. The long hours of driving had taken all my strength.

Now that I'm here , I couldn't help but kept thinking about my brother. If he will send the warriors to take me back or not. Another one is about Alpha Zero. Can he track me even in a place of the humans?

But I know that right now, my brother must be furious upon learning the news of my escaped. And I wonder what he would do, or what would Alpha Zero do to the fact that I have defied him too.

I got up and felt the rumbling of my stomach, remembering I had just eaten a sandwich before coming here, made my stomach crave for food. I am thinking about going down to eat at a nearby restaurant after getting a quick shower and a change of clothes.

After the shower I opened my luggage and searched  for something to wear outside. Pulling out a bikini and a push up bra, I removed the towel around my body. I picked up a pair of skinny jeans and a simple black shirt to wear, being in the city should be easy. I just have to blend in with everyone on the street. After I put my shirt on, a sound of someone knocking on my door alerted all of my senses.

All of a sudden, my heart thumped loudly inside my chest. How could they find out I am here, even Keira did not know about this place. My mind is debating on the first thing that I should do. I tried sniffing the air for the scent of a wolf but I couldn't pick up something. The knocked came louder as someone must have lost their patience in waiting behind the door. I grab my pair of black converse and put them on before i stood up and think of the best way to escape.

I looked at the windows and shake my head. There's no way I could get out in those. I am on the tenth floor of the building.

A decision comes to my mind after a minute, and so I stepped forward and looked on the peephole.

There were three men standing outside the door, and judging by their looks, they are from the North. The biggest man out of the three, who's hand is at my door sniffed the air. I quickly covered my mouth with my right hand, it's as if he could smell me through the door.

"Princess Jasmin, we know your inside. Please open up, we are here according to the instructions of Alpha Zero!".

I sucked in a huge intake of breath. Damn! I knew it..

But I didn't made any reply, my apartment is in the tenth floor and I couldn't jump that high. Not even in my wolf form.

"Princess Jasmin, I am Beta Derek of the Cold Mountain Pack. If you don't open the door, we will be forced to open it up!."

I walked back quickly to the place where my luggage is and grab the tiny bottle of potion portal that Maleficus gave.

When a loud noise is heard from the door of my bedroom, I smashed the small bottle in the floor. I grab my shoulder bag and place it on my body, when the smoke came out and covered all over me.

I concentrated on the place where I wanted to be. The most vivid and recent place I imprinted on my mind, the driver's seat of my red sports car.

I caught a glimpse of the men getting inside my room before i shut my eyes and wish the potion would work. I let a couple of seconds passes and when i find the courage to open my eyes, my surroundings completely changed... I am transported so well into the luxurious seat behind the steering wheel of my sports car.

It was shaking a bit due to the impact of myself jumping inside, my hands has quickly grab the seatbelt of one of the most expensive cars in the human world. Without delay, I started the engine and drive into the busy street of the City.

Loud honking of vehicles and a few motor cycles are polluting the sound in the air. I glanced side by side and wondered how is the people still busy walking at the side of the streets when it's already past ten in the evening. But I guessed humans in the city are all like these every night. They work, shop and ate outside the comfort of their home even late in the evening.

I waited for the traffic light to turn green and then I drove my car away living the city behind.

What now?...where would I go. I was lucky to have escaped from the warriors of the North, but which place would I go? It was then that I notice a huge sign board beside the road. "Wolf's Lair", ahead.

Looks convenient for someone like me to crash on for the night.

I've got friends in the city but I couldn't reach them without my cellphone, it was unfortunately left in my apartment.

After driving for about ten minutes, I stopped in front of a two story luxury log cabin. I stepped outside of my car and grab my purse making sure my keys are inside and the doors are locked before I took a step forward.

The huge log house looks cozy and quiet. There were only three cars on the space provided for parking and the fourth one is mine. My gaze focus into the entrance door with a sign board that reads "Welcome" and headed straight to open the knob.

I walked inside to a small reception area with an old woman standing at the front. She wore a mysterious smile in her face when our eyes met. With her grey hair tie in a neat bun, I'm guessing she must be around sixty or late fifties old. But she looked strong and confident.

"Hello there!, can I help you?".

The genuine spark in her eyes tells me she was glad to have another guest for the evening. She was eyeing me up and down before she grab a big book under the counter. I smiled back at her and took a step forward. Resting one of my arm at her counter I give her my friendliest tone of voice.

"Yes please, just one room for the evening."

"That's what I've thought. Kindly fill this up and I'll give you the key for one of our empty rooms."

I glanced at the book and the pen that she have placed beside my arm. This is not the first time I've done this sort of routine in hotels or cabins in the human world so I did not hesitate to wrote down my name and the other informations that the book required.

"How much will it be?".

I asked after putting back the book in front of her and moving my hands to open my purse and looked for the few bills I have inside.

"Oh, not much if only you are staying for one night".

She mentioned the amount and I gave her the money. The old woman smiled and took the money from my hand. Then she turned around to looked for the keys to the room I'm renting.

"Here you go, young lady. By the way, free breakfast is ready at eight in the morning and you can stay until twelve noon so just come down to the dining hall when you wake up and enjoy our free buffet."

"Really?, wow that's really lovely. Thank you."

I grab the keys from her hand while glancing at the open door not far from her counter. I could tell that it leads to the dining hall base on the smell of food coming from the air inside it.

"You're welcome and the room for you is upstairs to the right, number three."

I nod my head and walked calmly to the log stairway. I could feel the presence of another people inside the cabin. The place is smaller compared to any other places where I have been but I guess it is alright for the evening.

I sighed when I came to the upper floor and heard the rustle of people staying near in the room next to mine.

Great!.. I mumbled softly while listening to their muffled voices against my sensitive hearing. They were a man and woman, probably a couple.

I inserted the key inside the locked door and opened it slowly.

The room smelled of old wood and a little musty. It's nothing like the citrus-kissed kind of scent I get everytime I walked in to my luxury apartment at the city. The room have a single bed with floral printed sheets and covers that matches the curtains too. I put my purse at the small table beside the bed and looked around the room.

The small door which I'm guessing is the bathroom is located in the corner. The dresser beside the bed showed a clear reflection of myself standing awkwardly near the bed. I wonder how this room is even smaller than the room of the servants living at the Langstone Palace.
