Lucas's POV

I should’ve known something was off. It’s funny how life can trick you into thinking everything is fine, only to drop a bombshell when you least expect it. That night, it was supposed to be just another quiet evening—no arguments, no heavy conversations. Just me and Mandy, finally getting back to some semblance of normal.

We were sitting at the dinner table, the flickering candlelight casting soft shadows over her face. It felt almost... comfortable. For the first time in ages, we were just two people, having a meal, talking about nothing in particular. There was no tension in the air, no undercurrent of things unsaid. It was easy. Too easy.

I almost let myself believe that maybe we could find our way back. Maybe we could fix this, whatever this was. I had to admit, I’d missed her. The real her—the one who wasn’t constantly on edge, the one who smiled at the dumb things I said.

But then, of course, the phone buzzed.

It was Mandy’s phone, not mine. I glanced over w

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 38 : A Mother's Fear

Mandy's POV Guilt is like that annoying neighbor who always shows up uninvited. You think you’ve locked the door, pulled the blinds, and settled in for a quiet evening, but there it is, banging on the window, reminding you it’s not going anywhere. And tonight, guilt was practically moving in. I couldn’t stop replaying the look on Lucas’s face. That raw mix of shock, anger, and betrayal—it had been seared into my brain. I didn’t blame him. If the roles were reversed, I’d probably be furious and confused too. But knowing that didn’t make it any easier to deal with. I paced the length of my living room, my phone clutched in my hand like it might sprout wings and fly away. Wendy had texted me earlier, something about Emily asking questions again. I hadn’t responded. What could I even say? “Hey, sorry I didn't tell Lucas about his kid for three years, but thanks for holding down the fort?” Yeah, that’d go over well. My stomach twisted at the thought of Emily asking questions. S

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 39 : The Café meet up

Lucas’s POV Sitting in the corner of the café, I stirred my coffee absently, my mind running a thousand miles an hour. The place was busy enough to keep the atmosphere neutral, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that every set of eyes in the room was on me. I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to feel—angry, hurt, relieved? All of it was swirling together, leaving me with this gnawing ache in my chest. Mandy had a lot to answer for, but the part that scared me most was what came next. Soon, the door opened, and there she was. Mandy stepping in, her coat wrapped tightly around her like it was some kind of armor with her eyes scanning the room as it landed on me. I was surprised to see me by the way, I mean how she able to find me, but I guess that's a question for some other day.Though, she hesitated, just for a second, before making her way over. “Lucas,” she said, her voice soft but steady as she slid into the chair across from me. “Mandy,” I replied, my tone sharper than I inte

Lucas’s POVSome days had passed after our meet up at the Café and I guess it was time to really meet my daughter Emily. So, Mandy and I made our way to London and thank goodness I own a house there. I mean, I am a billionaire, so I could get most things at the tip of my hand.Gosh, I was terrified.I know I’d closed billion-dollar deals without breaking a sweat. But this? Meeting my three-year-old daughter for the first time? The park we agreed to meet up with Wendy, who would bring Emily out was quiet, the kind of calm that made the air feel heavier. I stood near a wooden bench, hands stuffed into my jacket pockets, scanning the playground like it was enemy territory. My heart was pounding, and for the first time in years, I felt completely out of my depth. “Relax,” Mandy said softly from beside me as she took notice of every one of my reactions. Then, not too long, her eyes shifted away from me as it was now fixed on a little girl approaching happily with a smile on her face whi

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 41 : The Struggle to Co-Parent

Mandy’s POVAfter a few days with Emily in London, Lucas and I decided to bring Emily back with us to New york. But one thing was certain to me, she wasn't staying with Lucas but with me.About two days to our departure from London, Lucas and I took our time out to talk about Emily. It's a lot to handle but if we must co-parent, there must be some certain discussions beforehand. However, we chose to meet up at a small restaurant across the street, though the atmosphere in there was a quiet one as the soft hum of conversation and the clinking of cups created a deceptive calm. I sat across from Lucas with a glass of champagne in my hands, but I hadn’t taken a sip. My fingers tightened around the glass cup as I stared at him, his face unreadable. “So,” he began, his voice steady but low, “we need to talk about how this is going to work.” “Yes. Sure.” I nodded, swallowing hard as Lucas leaned forward, resting his forearms on the table. “I want to be part of her life, Mandy. A real

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 42 : Proving Himself

Lucas’s POVI woke up early, the sound of the city outside barely a hum. My mind was already racing, filled with thoughts of Emily—thoughts I’d never had before. I was determined to make up for lost time, to prove to myself, to Mandy, and to Emily that I could be the father she needed. I hadn’t known about her for three years, and that thought ate at me every day. But I am here now. I was going to make sure I did everything I could to be there for her. After we all got back to New York, the first few weeks were a blur of planning. I took Emily to the park, just the two of us, and we spent hours there. She was shy at first, watching me from behind her little pink backpack, but slowly, she began to warm up. I pushed her on the swings, and she laughed, her high-pitched giggle filling the air. “What’s your favorite color, Emily?” I asked one afternoon, as we sat on the grass eating ice cream. She looked at me, her eyes wide with curiosity, and then shyly mumbled, “Pink.” “Pink?”

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 43 : Bridging the Gap

Emily’s POVI was sitting on the couch, my legs swinging back and forth, when I looked at Mom and Lucas. They weren’t talking to each other. It wasn’t like when Mom and I were having dinner with Auntie Wendy or when we played games and everyone laughed. They were just sitting there, not looking at me, not looking at each other. It made me feel funny inside, like when I see someone sad but I don’t know why. I didn’t like it. “Mommy,” I said, pulling on her sleeve. She looked down at me, and I smiled. I liked it when she smiled at me. “Why don’t we all have dinner together? Like a family.” Mommy blinked, like she didn’t know what I meant at first. Then she looked at Lucas, and for a second, I thought she was going to say no. But then she nodded, and her lips stretched into a small smile. It wasn’t a big smile, but it was still a smile. “Okay, sweetie. We can do that.” I liked it when we're together. I liked when everyone was at the table, and we talked about silly things, like

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 44 : A Father's Promise

Lucas’s POVThe sound of tiny footsteps echoed through the house, and I couldn’t help but smile as Emily darted past me, her little giggle filling the air. It had been a few weeks since I started making more of an effort to connect with her. The last thing I wanted was to remain a stranger in her life. I was her father, whether she understood that yet or not, and I needed to be there for her in ways I hadn’t been before.Today was different. Today, I had planned something special—just the two of us. Mandy had agreed to give us some space, and as much as it pained me to be away from her, this was about Emily. She needed me and I needed to be the father she deserved."Emily!" I called out as she zipped past me. She stopped in her tracks, her eyes wide with curiosity. "Yes, Lucas?" she asked, her voice bright with innocence.I smiled, kneeling down to her level. "How about we go out today? Just you and me?"Her face lit up, and she bounced on her toes. "Really? Where are we going?"I g

Mandy's POVReaching home, I didn’t know how I had gotten to this point. One moment, I was walking away with Emily, trying to shield her from the heavy conversation that Lucas had started, and the next, I was standing in the kitchen, my hands shaking as I stared at the empty coffee cup in front of me. I had wanted to protect Emily from all of this—the pain, the confusion, the weight of the truth. But Lucas... Lucas had opened a door that couldn’t be closed again. And now, I had to figure out how to handle it and how to handle him. Then, I heard the door open behind me and tensed. I didn’t need to turn around to know it was him. I could feel his presence, the pull of his energy, even if he wasn’t saying a word."Mandy," Lucas said, his voice low. "We need to talk."I didn’t respond right away. Instead, I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside me. "What is there to talk about, Lucas?" I finally asked, my voice tight. "You’ve already said enough."He walked closer, his foot

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 140 : The Underground Clinic

Mandy’s POVThe SUV’s tires screeched as it came to a halt, the eerie silence of the abandoned warehouse district swallowing the sound. My pulse raced in my ears as I sat motionless, gripping Emily’s limp body tightly. Each second felt like an eternity. The night air outside was thick with tension, the kind that made you feel like something terrible was about to happen, but you had no idea how to stop it.Lucas didn’t even glance at me as he opened the door and stepped out of the car. His face was set, hardened, like he was preparing for war. I followed quickly behind him, clutching Emily closer to my chest, her tiny body a fragile weight in my arms. The warehouse loomed in front of us—an ugly, decaying building at the edge of the city. There was nothing welcoming about it, nothing that suggested it could be a place of hope. It was a hollow structure, abandoned and broken, much like the world we had stepped into.We moved quickly toward the entrance, the dim lights of the street

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 139 : A Deal with evil

lucas’s POVThe phone call felt like a weight around my neck, each second dragging me deeper into something I never wanted to revisit. My grip tightened on the steering wheel, knuckling white as I stared out the window. But my mind wasn’t on the road ahead—it was on the voice that had just spoken through the phone. "You should be rotting in a cell, Lucas."His words rang in my ears like a death sentence. Every syllable is a reminder of the mistakes I’d made, the enemies I’d created, and the man I once was—the man I still couldn’t fully outrun. I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to stay calm. "I don’t have time for grudges," I said, my voice clipped and controlled. "I need your help."The silence on the other end of the line stretched painfully long. I could hear him breathing, the rasp of air in and out as if he were savoring the moment. Finally, he spoke again. "Bring her here. But after this, you owe me."The words hit me like a blow to the chest, but I forced myself not to re

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 138 : The Line Between Life and Death

Mandy’s POVEverything around me blurred into nothing. The cold pavement bit into my knees, but I barely felt it. My arms tightened around Emily’s small, lifeless body, my hands trembling as I pressed my forehead against hers. "Please, baby… please…" My voice cracked, but no response came. The weight of her in my arms, too still, too cold, made it impossible to breathe. A strangled sob tore from my throat as I rocked her, desperate to bring life back into her. She had been laughing just hours ago, giggling in my arms, full of energy, full of love. Now, she was slipping away, and I couldn't stop it. "We need to get her to a hospital!" Ethan's voice cut through the fog of grief, sharp and urgent. He was crouched beside me, his hands hovering as if afraid to touch her, as if touching would make this nightmare real. Lucas stood frozen, his face unreadable, but his hands were clenched into fists at his sides. His knuckles were white, his whole body rigid. "If anything happens t

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 137 :Blood on the Pavement

Lucas’s POVThe world felt like it was closing in on me. The lights flashing from the police cars outside the warehouse, the sound of sirens wailing in the distance, it all blended into a haze of confusion. Mandy had been pulled away, and I could only watch as she and Ethan ran for their lives. The chaos unfolding around us seemed like a nightmare I couldn’t wake from. Sophia had done this. She’d planned every step with the precision of someone who was playing a long game, and now, I was caught in it. A pawn. And I had no idea how to fight back. My mind was racing, but there was no time to think. I had to do something—anything—to protect her, to protect Emily. The weight of what was happening pressed heavily against my chest, suffocating me with guilt and fear. Mandy and Emily were in danger, and it was because of me. As I moved toward the door, my body tense and ready for whatever was waiting outside, my eyes caught the movement in the distance. The alley—where Mandy and Eth

Mandy’s POVEthan’s grip was unrelenting as he pulled me through the dark corridors of the warehouse. My heart thundered in my chest, and the sound of hurried footsteps echoed off the cold concrete walls. Behind us, the chaos erupted—yelling, shouts of orders, the sound of heavy boots pounding the floor as the police scrambled to respond. I barely registered it all. All I could think about was the fact that Lucas was being arrested. We were running, but for what? "We can’t let them take Lucas."His words hit me like a cold splash of water. He was right. We couldn’t let them take him, but how were we supposed to stop this? I stumbled slightly, still trying to process everything—Sophia’s cruel smile, the video, the betrayal I felt in my bones. Lucas… Lucas had never told me about his past with Sophia. I didn’t know what to believe anymore. Could I trust him? Should I? "What do we do?" I gasped, the words slipping out before I could stop them. My mind was clouded, and fear was s

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 135 : Wanted Man

Lucas’s POVThe moment the police stormed in, their weapons raised, I knew Sophia had been waiting for this. The blue and red flashes of sirens painted the dim warehouse in a kaleidoscope of chaos. The tension in the air thickened like a noose tightening around my throat. "Lucas Vanderbilt, you’re under arrest."The lead officer’s voice rang with authority, cutting through the heavy silence that followed. Beside me, Mandy tensed, her fingers twitching at her sides. I could hear her sharp intake of breath, but my focus stayed on the officers, on Sophia, and on the pieces of this twisted game she was playing. "For what?" I asked, keeping my voice controlled, even though my pulse pounded in my ears. Sophia let out a delighted hum, stepping forward as if she were the one running the show. "Oh, Lucas. You didn’t think I came empty-handed, did you?"My stomach tightened. Of course, she hadn’t. Sophia had never been the type to strike without a plan. She had been pulling the strings

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 134: The Rift Between Us

Mandy’s POVI stood there, frozen, the weight of everything pressing down on me. The room felt suffocating as my chest was tight, my pulse racing as I tried to make sense of the video, of what I had just seen. My hands shook, my mind in a whirlwind of disbelief, hurt, and anger. "I trusted you!" I finally shouted, my voice breaking, raw with emotion. The words left my lips before I could stop them, and the pain behind them was suffocating. I had let my guard down. I had believed in Lucas, in us. But now, everything was shattered. The man I thought I knew, the man I had given my heart to, had lied to me—about something so crucial, so fundamental. I couldn’t even look at him. My eyes blurred with unshed tears, but I refused to let them fall. Not now. Not when I was this angry, this betrayed. Lucas’s expression faltered, his usual calm demeanor giving way to something more vulnerable—more desperate. "I didn’t leave her. I thought she was dead, Mandy. I thought I lost her that night

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 133: The Night That Changed Everything

Lucas’s POVI could see Mandy hesitating, her finger hovering over the play button, but her eyes were locked on the screen, as if she were trying to prepare herself for what was coming. I could see the turmoil in her face, the confusion, the disbelief, and it made my stomach churn. What was about to unfold was something I had buried so deep, so far away from her, that I had hoped we would never have to confront it. But Sophia... she had found a way to drag it all back into the light. My heart pounded in my chest as the screen flickered to life. The darkness of the alley filled the frame, shadows stretching long and ominous. I could see myself, younger, desperate, pacing with a sense of urgency that was palpable even through the grainy footage. My voice echoed through the alley as I shouted Sophia’s name. "Sophia!" I could hear myself calling out, panic in my tone. "Sophia!"The air around me felt like it was thick with dread, and I could almost feel the weight of the night again.

  • The Club Star Ex-Wife He Wants Back   Chapter 132 : The Truth Lucas Hid

Mandy’s POVThe world around me felt like it was slipping away. My body trembled, not from the cold, but from the weight of the words in the air. Each one felt like a stone being dropped into the abyss, echoing through me, making everything I thought I knew shake. I had always believed in Lucas, in the man who stood beside me, and yet now, his past was unfurling before my eyes, and I wasn’t sure if I even knew him at all.Sophia leaned in closer, her breath hot against my ear, and I froze. There was a dangerous calmness in her voice as she whispered the words that made my heart stop."He let me die, Mandy. He chose himself over me."Her words rang in my ears, and for a moment, everything inside me froze. He chose himself over her? The very idea cut through me like a knife. I could barely breathe, let alone process the enormity of what she was implying. Lucas was beside me, his fists clenched at his sides, his jaw tight with barely contained fury. His voice cracked through the silen
