Usher could not speak. Mireya had successfully silenced him. He was trapped in a growing sense of guilt.

Usher's pride and ego plummeted to their lowest depths. He was an Alpha, but this happened to Mireya, the woman he loved. Not only could he not give Mireya the respect she deserved, but he could not find Mireya's understanding.

Usher felt a blow to his self-esteem. He felt embarrassed and worthless, unable to give Mireya her rightful place.

"Forgive me, Mireya," Usher begged.

Mireya shook her head, smiling. "It's okay, Usher. I understand."

"I know you understand my situation, but I can't let this go on," Usher said, looking at Mireya with a serious expression. Mireya raised her eyebrows, signaling curiosity. "I will take you to The Palace tonight."

Mireya's eyes widened. "U-Usher."

"To hell with Ayla or The Sacred Ceremony to bless you. I don't care about any of that. Let people think of you as Luna or not, but you are my mate and

Ayla's words caused a stir. Some of the werewolves present immediately turned pale, trembling with the natural fear that arose. Meanwhile, Usher and Mireya were furious."I know you hate me, Ayla, but not like this! How dare you speak ill of my son? You really are a heartless old woman!"Ayla turned to Mireya. If Mireya had not just gone through the exhausting and painful process of childbirth, she would undoubtedly have jumped out of bed and slapped Ayla."I'm not making this up. This is reality," Ayla said.Usher was furious. "This is reality? You're out of your mind, Ayla. My son has just been born and he knows nothing, yet you accuse him without compassion!""Alpha, I'm not accusing him. I'm simply sharing the vision I saw with my mind's eye," Ayla replied, gasping for breath. She tried to calm herself, but what she saw shook her. "The happiness you feel now will lead to unparalleled sorrow in the future. Your son is a disaster for the Frosthol

Normally, the birth of a new werewolf would be a joyous occasion for any pack. Not limited to the Alpha's family, they would usually celebrate as a form of gratitude. It might not always be a big feast, but at least there would be a dinner party. In addition, werewolves would spend several days at the newborn's home. They would help with many things, since childbirth was both a joyous and a demanding event. However, nothing of the sort happened at The Palace. Philip's birth did not bring happiness as births usually did. The reason was the gossip circulating among the packs, news of Ayla's prophecy. It was undeniable that the packs were excited about Philip's birth. Despite Mireya's actions, Philip was still an innocent baby. More importantly, he was the Alpha's son. So, they eagerly visited The Palace to show their gratitude and happiness.Unfortunately, The Palace's response was not as expected. They were turned away on the grounds that Usher and Mireya

To begin the day, Garth approached a shewolf named Cora Webb. Cora had served as the Gamma of the Frostholm Pack for almost a year. She had been chosen after successfully beating out at least fifty other candidates. She was responsive, efficient, and most importantly, a woman.Cora's main task was to manage the needs of The Palace, since there was no real Luna in The Palace. Mireya could not fulfill the duties of Usher's mate, and the only solution was to create a position that hadn't been filled for several generations."What is it, Garth?"Garth approached Cora, who had just arrived at The Palace. He glanced at Cora's appearance, which seemed unusual. Hmm, a knee-length dress?"Why?" Cora asked, lowering her eyes. She could sense that Garth was more interested in her appearance than in her previous question. "Do I look strange?"Garth cleared his throat and shook his head with a furrowed brow. "You don't look strange, but I'm just curiou

Vione's sleep was disturbed by the soft footsteps approaching her cell. She blinked and turned around. In the darkness she saw two shewolves approaching."Good morning, Vione."Vione took a long breath and stood up. She rubbed her face for a moment before approaching them. "Good morning and thank you. Without you, I wouldn't know the difference between morning and night."The two shewolves exchanged guilty looks. Then one of them handed Vione a tray of food through a small opening in the iron bars."This is your breakfast."Vione took it with a hollow smile. "Thank you."She turned to sit in the corner of the cell, but another shewolf spoke to her."Do you know? The pack has petitioned the Alpha. We demand a retrial for you."Vione's steps stopped. She paused for a moment, then asked to confirm, "A retrial?""Yes.""What do you mean?" Vione asked, turning her body. Her eyes narrowed to see more clearly in the dark

Garth didn't mind filling in the information Vione already knew. He explained that the petition filed by the Pack was a double one. The pack wanted a retrial for Vione and a truth session for Mireya."You know the reason, don't you?" Garth asked, and Vione nodded weakly. Still, she spoke as if to verify the accuracy of the information she had received. "Ayla's prophecy."Vione remained motionless. She made no comment.Garth's forehead wrinkled. His sharp eyes stared at her with an investigative look. "Vione? You don't doubt Ayla's prophecy, do you?""I don't know, Garth." Vione's voice sounded weak. Her face suddenly became melancholic. "I don't know whether to believe Ayla's prophecy or not. You know, I'm one of the results of her prophecy.""Vione."Vione smiled painfully. "I used to believe in Ayla's prophecy so much, Garth. I believed everything with unwavering determination. But now I don't just doubt Ayla's prophecy, I doubt everything

Whether Garth should feel frustrated or not was uncertain. The presence of Mireya in The Palace caused Usher to neglect his surroundings. The Usher who used to work late into the night, whether it was managing the company's affairs or dealing with the pack, was no longer as diligent. Mireya really had managed to capture Usher's attention. On the other hand, Garth complained about it. According to him, Usher was no longer as responsible as he should be. But on the other hand, he was actually grateful. Thanks to Mireya, Usher became indifferent to him. In the end, he gained the freedom to do one or two things outside of his duties as a Beta. One of them was to visit Vione.Garth was well aware that he shouldn't have done that. No werewolf should dare to disobey the Alpha's orders, especially when he held the position of Beta. He was supposed to set an example for the others, but all rules were overshadowed by his humanity.Of course, Garth felt guilty. No matter h

Vione's emotions were in turmoil. The uncertainty made her restless. She was uncomfortable and many questions were running through her mind. If it wasn't Garth, then who?Vione closed her eyes and shook her head. A name came to mind, but she pushed it away as far as she could. Not Usher, it couldn't be him.Unfortunately, there was a part of Vione that insisted on convincing her that it was Usher. She said that it was Usher who had been secretly visiting her all along, and that he was the one who had often given her warm clothes, favorite foods, and special medicines.Vione struggled with herself. Her wolf spirit clung to the belief, while she refused to sink into the illusion. She reminded herself that everything she was experiencing now was because of Usher. So, it was highly unlikely that Usher was secretly watching her like this.Vione's wolf spirit howled sadly. She cried, and so did Vione. But Vione refused to concentrate on her grief. She reminded herself that there was somethin

"Garth!"The light, cheerful voice stopped Garth in his tracks. He, who had been heading for the elevator, turned abruptly. He saw Cora approaching with small, skipping steps."Good evening."Garth muttered, "Good evening.""Are you here to see Alpha?" Cora asked and Garth nodded. She brightened. "Me too. Me too."Garth said nothing more. He pushed the elevator button and they entered. As the elevator moved, Cora looked at him."So, you rarely spend time at The Palace?"Instinctively, Garth blinked. Then he answered with a short nod.Cora hummed as she nodded. Her eyes rolled and she played with the ends of her curly, bobbed hair. "I thought you spent more time at The Palace."Garth didn't answer. He was sure that Cora's statement wasn't curious. The elevator stopped. The doors opened and they stepped out, heading for Usher's workspace.Garth knocked. Usher's voice gave permission and he opened the door. He

Vione couldn't answer Jemma's words. Her heart was truly touched and she fell silent, only able to look at Usher, knowing that everything Jemma had said was the undeniable truth. Pregnancy was always a happy announcement. But Vione's pregnancy was more than joy; it was a blessing. For Usher, Jemma, Rowena and the Frostholm Pack, Vione's pregnancy was the greatest gift the Moon Goddess had given them. So, it was no surprise that when the palace announced Vione's pregnancy, the entire pack rejoiced and celebrated everywhere. Without exception, the news spread to the farthest corners of the Frostholm Pack territory. Smiles and beaming eyes adorned the faces of every member of the pack. They continued to give thanks for all the good things that had happened to the pack—from their victory in the war to Vione's pregnancy—and they didn't forget to pray for Vione's wellbeing. Ayla, the Sacred Elder, made hasty preparations. She arranged for a blessing ceremony for Vione's pregnancy to be h

There was a bright, blinding light. It seemed to be the morning sun, its warmth soothing her soul. Vione wasn't alone. Next to her was Usher, always holding her hand. They were talking, laughing, when suddenly a scene made her eyes widen. "Sylvia, come back! Don't go too far! Oh, God! Silas, can you go after her?"Usher pulled Vione into his arms. "Don't worry, she won't get lost. They're smart kids." "Usher," Vione groaned, pressing her lips together and raising her hand to point. "That's too—" Vione frowned. Something was holding her hand. Something was stroking the back of her hand, squeezing her fingers. "U-Usher." "Vione? Are you awake?" Usher's voice echoed in her head, like the buzzing of a thousand bees, driving that beautiful memory from her mind. It made her slightly dizzy and she moaned softly. "Vione? Can you hear my voice?" Vione frowned and slowly opened her eyes. She saw Usher's face, filled with immeasurable relief. "Usher." "Oh, thank God," Usher whispered, k

The meeting was only ten minutes old—it had only just started—and the first presentation had only just been given, but Usher's concentration was already disturbed. He couldn't concentrate on the data being presented. His mind kept wandering back to Vione. He had tried to ignore it, but suddenly his heart was pounding with an unfamiliar rhythm.Usher held his breath. Vione. Had something happened to her?At the same time, Usher saw Garth reach into the inside pocket of his suit. He watched as Garth stepped out of the meeting to take a phone call and for some reason Usher was certain that the call had something to do with Vione.Usher's intuition was right. Immediately after the call, Garth approached him and whispered in his ear."Alpha, Cora just reported that Luna fainted at a banquet—"Usher immediately got up from his seat. He left and Garth quickly said, "The meeting will be postponed."Then Garth hurried after Usher. They left the office five minutes later, Garth driving as fast

Two days later Rowena was ready. With her was Cora, whom Usher had specially assigned to accompany her on her journey.Rowena cupped Vione's cheeks. "Don't worry, Vione. We'll see each other often. Besides, it's the only way I can make up for leaving you as a baby.""No, Mama." Vione held Rowena's hands. "You did it so I could live with other werewolves. I understand that."Still, Rowena's guilt remained. So, she promised to make up for it with happiness and togetherness in the future."I hope you take good care of yourself, Mama," Vione said, calming her heart. Then she took off the moon necklace she was wearing. She put the moon necklace into Rowena's hand. "Let me know if anything happens."Rowena nodded. "Of course."Vione and Usher watched Rowena leave, certain that this wasn't goodbye. In truth, they were just living apart. They would keep in touch. They would still meet and visit. So, everything would be fine. There was nothing to worry about. That was what Rowena believed too.

Now Vione simply wanted to repay that debt by enjoying their time together, especially with Rowena. For countless days, Vione had longed for the loving touch of her biological parents. Despite the fact that her life with Addy and Hilary had been happy and full of love, she could not deny that deep down there was a part of her that longed for the warmth and love of her real parents. And when she learned that Ivan was long gone, all her hopes were placed in Rowena.Vione wanted to experience the affection she had only imagined. Silence. Ivan and Rowena both stood still, staring at Vione without blinking."I'm meeting Usher, Dad," Vione said again. She pouted as she continued, "We've been dating since the night of the Coming-of-Age Ceremony." Her face flushed, obviously embarrassed. "When we were celebrating at the palace, and that's when we..."Vione didn't finish her sentence, but both Ivan and Rowena understood. They could guess what had happened that night. But one thing was still unclear to them.Ivan cleared his throat. He rubbed his chin, looking puzzled. "Usher?" he asked. "Which Usher are you talking about?""Papa," Vione groaned, feeling even more helpless. She was completely embarrassed. "There's only one Usher I know, the one you both know, Usher Thorne."Ivan's mouth opened, but no words came out. He seemed genuinely shocked and needed a little more time to fully process the name Usher Thorne.Ivan stared at Vione. "Usher Thorne?"The doorbell rang at the same moment. Vione's eyes widened. A heavy silence had fallen over the Frostholm territory since the night before. One thing Usher would remember for the rest of his life was that war never brought anything good. On the contrary, only bad things came out of war—death, pain, loss, suffering. For this reason, he would do everything in his power to ensure that there would be no more wars in the future—at least not in his lifetime—even if it meant making extreme choices.Usher hated war and he hated killing, but this time he put those feelings aside to ensure the safety of the Frostholm Pack. He had learned from experience that Kendrick's compassion could never touch the humanity of the Nimbria Pack. In truth, greed had blinded the Nimbria Pack, causing them to ignore the opportunity presented by the Frostholm Pack. Worse still, the Nimbria Pack saw Kendrick's decision as a sign of weakness, leading them to attack again whenever they had the chance. So, this time, Usher abandoned all compassion and humanity. The Nimbria Pack didn't deserve it. Instead, he would make sure that the Nimbria Pack felt all
