“Well, I guess I may as well just say it,” Ashley said, uncrossing her legs and sitting up slightly straighter. “I’m here to respectfully request a transfer.” Once the words were out, she pursed her lips and then exhaled through her nose, like a weight was beginning to be lifted off of her shoulders but could come back to smash her at any moment.

Thinking of Cadence, Aaron decided he should let her know that she could come back into their shared office now. He sent her a quick IAC message to tell her that Ashley was gone and then sat down at his desk, waiting to see if she was coming back before he headed over to the table of doom. One of the lights outside of the gym had been flickering for the better part of a week. Cassidy had meant to mention it to Juan Diego in case he just didn’t know, but every time she saw him, it slipped her mind.
