I refilled the glass with my second serving of whisky, the dream had come back again. Matthew's face, his words - warning me to stay away.
Since I had found my mate, Matthew hasn't left my side, he has been in my head and in my dreams, constantly reminding me of the doom that awaits if I am to give in to the mate bond.
"I don't think Alpha Jax will be too happy to see you drinking Luna, especially this early in the morning." A voice chided, grabbing the glass from my hand and emptying it into the sink.
It was Derek's mate, it might be my warped perception but her belly appeared to be three times bigger than the last time I saw her.
"Twins" She stated, as if reading my mind running a protective hand over her belly.
I nodded. "Congratualtions." I chipped, hoping to sound sincere, but I think all I could manage was a sarcastic tone. I'm not the biggest fan of babies myself but seeing other people grow their families warms my heart.
Alexandria was stunning, with glowing dark skin and tight curls that grazed her shoulders, she had deep coffee brown cat-like eyes that held so much warmth but ferocity beneath them. Right now she was smiling at me and I couldn't help but smile back at her. She stood with so much grace despite carrying two human beings inside of her, she was a Beta's wife, but it wouldn't surpise me if she descended from Alphas.
"How about we replace the whisky with some coffee Luna." She gave me one of her warm smiles and proceeded to turn on the coffe machine.
"My name's Felicity." I gently corrected, massaging my temples. "And just so you know, it calms me. It's not as if I'm drunk."
She laughed. "Still, I advice you don't drink, it's not good, especially if you plan on having any kids in the future."
Not if Matthew keeps popping up in my head.
"It's nice to have company in the morning, Derek doesn't wake up for another hour so its always just me and the boys." She chuckled, pointing to her belly, her eyes softening at the mention of her sons. She radiated so much love and happiness, it almost made me envious. I only managed a half-hearted smile, my head was still spinning from the lack of sleep.
"Good morning Alex." Jax greeted as he came down the stairs.
"Morning Alpha." She bowed despite her condition, smiling. Her dark brown skin appeared to follow suit, refelcting her radiance. She took her coffee and left to another part of the pack house, her yellow summer dress swifting simultanously with her calculated steps.
"Felicity." Jax's eyes widened and he stopped in his tracks. "I thought you had escaped again." And just in time, five guards stormed into the kitchen stating, between laboured breaths, that they couldn't find me.
I gave them a sarcastic wave, the annoyance on their faces was truly comical.
"I see you distrust me a lot more than I thought, waking up in the bed alone does not mean I've run away." I rolled my eyes, I know he had every right to not trust me, but I mean seriously, he couldn't even look before raising an alarm.
"Apologies, but considering last weeks events there isn't really much to go on in terms of trusting you." He smirked, advancing to where I stood.
"Lets try this again, morning Felicity." Leaning down, I moved my head to the side, so his lips only brushed my cheek.
"What's that smell?" His eyebrows furrowed as he took a whiff of the air.
Uh oh.
"Felicity, have you been drinking?" He asked incredulously, holding me at arms length as if he couldn't believe he was asking me such a question.
"Yes, what the big deal? It's not like I drank the whole bottle!" I exclaimed.
"Did you do this a lot in your old pack?" He probed, examining me like I had a secret stash hidden somewhere in my pocket.
"Most days." I muttered, earning another look of disbelief.
"I don't know why you're so shocked, Mr. High and mighty Alpha, don't you drink as well." I snapped, glaring at him. What right did he have to be angry?
"Felicity, you're drinking at 10 o'clock in the morning and you think there's nothing wrong with it." Jax rested his hands on my shoulders, forcing me to look at him.
"Why do you do it?" His voice had now dropped in tone and he stared at me with...pity.
"None of your damn business." I bit back, removing his arms from my shoulders and walking away.
"Felicity wait." He sighed, grabbing my wrist. "I'm your mate, I want you to be able to tell me these things, I want to help you."
I pulled my hand back.
"Help me?" I laughed sarcastically. "You don't know the first thing about me." And with that I stormed away, slamming the door behind me.
I paced across the bedroom in anger, how dare he think he can just waltz into my life, take me away from my pack and try to tell me I need help.
Help my ass.
The best way he could help me was to let me go home. Every time I looked at Jax all I saw was the family curse, my unchangeable future. I never used to believe in such tales, but ever since the death of Matthew I now know how wrong I was.
A knock on the door brought me from my thoughts.
"Come in." I replied, smiling when Veronica entered the room, Arabelle and Axel in tow.
"Hey Felicity, Holden and I plan on going out for a romantic picnic date. I was wondering if you and Jaxon could watch the twins while we're gone." She smiled when the twins ran into the room, making themselves comfortable on the bed.
"Sure, but-"
"Great, thanks, see you at 5."
"You're welcome but-"
"Plus it will be great practice for the future." She winked.
"Wait, but Veronica-"
"Bye!"
She waved, closing the door behind her. I was left rooted to the spot, my mouth wide open. I was in no state to babysit.
***
"No fair!" I pouted as the twins high fived and ran off with the sacred stuffed toy.
Getting up from the floor, I immediately pursued the screaming twins.
"I, Jack Sparrow demand my treasure be returned to me. Or face the consequences!" I entered the 'empty' room, searching for the thieves. They were hiding somewhere, I just had to find them.
"Hmmm I wonder where the thieves are hiding." I pranced around the room, searching under the bed and behind the shower curtain, until I spotted Axel from the corner of my eye.
Wordlessly I pulled open the bathroom door and pointed to him, a wide smile on my face.
He placed his finger over his lips. "I'll tell you where Belle is hiding if you pretend you never saw me."
Kids.
Before I could reply, Arabelle jumped out of her hiding place to pinch Axel on the arm. "That's cheating!"
Axel shook is head proudly. "No it's not, Jax said that's how everyone plays hide and seek."
Coincidentally at that same moment Jax entered the room, without realising our presence he collapsed onto the bed.
"Jax!" Axel called eagerly, jumping onto his brother. His screams of laughter were almost deafening when Jax began to tickle him.
"Boys." Arabelle muttered, walking passively behind her much hyper sibling.
Climbing onto the bed, she pushed Axel out of the way as if ashamed by his childish behaviour. The relationship between the two was hilarious, mostly because of their contrasting personalities.
"Jax, is it true you told Axel that snitching in hide and seek is good?" She looked up at him with wide light brown eyes, the conflicted look on his face was amusing.
Unfortunately, luck was on his side. There was a knock on the door and Jax quickly got up to answer it, putting Arabelle up on his shoulder as he did so; I smiled when Axel latched on to his leg. The extra weight appeared not to faze him.
"Hey mum." Jax greeted, opening the door for her to come in.
"Thank you so much for looking after Arabelle and Axel today." She picked Axel up from the floor and dusted his clothing.
"I only arrived about two minutes ago, why didn't you tell me the twins were coming over?"
"I told Felicity, I thought she would have told you." He looked at me and I looked away, reminded of our argument earlier today.
"You mean, Felicity looked after these two troublemakers by herself?" I nodded, smiling sheepishly.
"You're truly a natural." She praised, still in shock.
"Thanks again." Jax lowered Arabelle from his shoulder.
"You're welcome." I smiled.
"Well I better give these two a bath before bed." She heaved as she picked up Axel and took hold of Arabelle's hand. I waved goodbye as Jax closed the door behind them.
Now it was only Jax and I in the room and I suddenly began to feel incredibly squashed in the large room.
"I'm going to go get a snack, want anything?" I spoke up amidst the stone cold silence.
"Yes." I gasped as he grabbed my hand and whirled me around.
"You Felicity"
I searched his eyes and around his face, hoping for a smile or a hint that this was some lame joke. When I realised he was being serious, my lips smoothed into a straight line and I glared at him. "I'm not a fucking snack, I'm a werewolf and in case you're unfamiliar with that term I suggest you grab a book from one of the libraries and educate yourself."
His eyes suddenly became pitch black as he trapped me between the wall and his solid body, so I couldn't escape. "Have you completely lost your mind? I'm your Alpha and mate. Show me some respect." He seethed.
I sighed, putting my hands on his shoulders to create some distance between us. "I've told you before and I'll tell you again. I. Don't. Want. A. Mate." I drawled out the words, hoping he would finally comprehend what I'm saying. Alpha's are known for being quite slow when it comes to the opposite sex.
"You don't know who I am, so I am simply warning you to stay away from me. You do not want me as your mate, just as I do not want you." He stared at me with utter disbelief as his body froze.
I waved a hand over his face, relieved he at least had the ability to blink.
"Send me home, reject me, bond with another female, do whatever you want as long as I have nothing to do with it." I more or less begged him.
His eyes were still bulging out if their sockets. "How can you say such a thing?" He looked at me as if I was the most sadistic person he had ever met and he was probably right.
It was my turn to pin his body against the wall as I softly whispered into his ear.
"Because, trust me Alpha Jax, you're making a big mistake."
I flinched at the sound of glass smashing.Jax was in that room, his roars of anger echoed throughout the pack house.I sipped on my glass of wine, trying to block out his loud rants.I knew I should have been in there with him. My presence was thought to be a calming mechanism for him. The pull of a mate was definitely a life line, drawing two people and binding them together whether they liked it or not. However it was just that, a line and I would surely find a way to cut it soon.I couldn't stand it, this pack was unfamiliar and an involuntary choice. As much as they tried to make me feel welcome, some things you can't force.I watched passively as Jax stormed out of his office, the stress clear on his face. He was alone in that room and still managed to reach the peek of his temper. Alpha males were a complex equation I'd never be able to decipher.I looked on until he was out of sight, my arms stretched along the sofa casually.
I turned my face away from the sickening sight, bile rose to tip of my throat and I felt an overwhelming wave of nausea."All children must remain in their rooms, not one of them leaves until I say so." Jax ordered, all the mothers nodded vigorously before returning to their children."You too Felicity. Go to the room and stay there till I return."I shook my head. "Let me stay, I want to help."We had just been discussing the imminent danger to our pack and now it lays here right in front of us. Since last week, contact between us has been minimal, but in this moment my Luna just wanted to be by his side at all times, especially now I knew his internal fears and worries. He held my chin up with the crook of his finger. "No, it's too dangerous, I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you. Now go, please, I don't want to argue about this with you." I hated how no matter how much I voiced my position to him, he would always act like a
"But how?" I questioned, pacing around her room, baffled. It was not possible, but still it existed before me, in the palm of Maria's hand. "We used to go there about once a month, but since they tightened security in their territory we haven't been able to get close. Richard eventually became impatient and decided to go in by himself." She muttered the last bit sadly, partly angry that her mate had decided to go alone without her knowledge. "I've heard stories, but I'm not really sure how it's made, the last one was thought to have been used thirty years ago." I stared at the crimson mixture, transfixed by the power a single bottle held. These mixtures were created in order to kill vampires, working from the inside it seeps through the skull and fries the brain. The last one was thought to have been used to kill the Vampire King's son in 1987, the closest a werewolf has come to regaining dominion since a millennium. Since then no werewolf has been able to co
SeerI looked frantically at the cards before me. I was gifted with the power of sight but I was not always accurate."This is very alarming. She has accepted the role of Luna with such formality and conviction. I have never seen anything like it. How could she possibility separate herself from her emotions like that, not even her wolf is powerful enough to sway her.""She is a wounded and traumatised girl, give her time." The Moon Goddess calmly responded."But her heart is so guarded, so damaged and still she has desires of returning to her old life." My eyes flashed and I took a little stumble rubbing my aching temple as I projected myself into the subconsciousness of Felicity.
Alejandro's POVA gaping hole stared at the faces of my subjects. My canines elongated and I knew my eyes had turned a molten black."How could you? How could you let them get so close?" I erupted, slamming my palms on the table as I stood up."Your majesty, you know how the youngsters are, as soon as they get a grip on their abilities, it's hard to keep track." One of the men spoke, his head bowed low as he spoke.I glared at the man, watching his quivering form while I shook with anger. "Well you see what that has caused, you see the shit we're in now?" I bellowed, uncaring that my voice could be heard by the rest of the castle."But your majesty-" before he could
I opened one throbbing eye to find Derek staring down at me, his hands motioning for me to get up.I shook my head, my chest rising and falling rapidly as I stared up at the ceiling, my back flat on the floor. It had been my second spar with Derek and each result was the same - with me sweating like a pig, sprawled out on the ground."Come on Luna, Alpha Jax said we don't stop until you get it right." I remained still. I never realised how much comfort the cold hard ground could bring me."The longer you take to get up, the longer we spend here." He said nonchalantly, kneeling down and staring at my goofy position. I was both mentally and physically drained.Fisting my hands I placed them on the ground and pushed myself up. "You want a fight tough guy, you've got one." I put two fists in front me and shook a stray lock of hair from my face.Derek smirked, opening his arms wide as a signal for me to come get him. Flashback They locked me the loft, it was only me in the room, a small patch of glass allowed me to see what was going on outside. Everyone was fighting; I couldn't tell who was who since they were all in werewolf form. My wolf side had yet to fully develop, it made me vulnerable as I was unable to fight nor could I communicate with other members of my pack. I couldn't smell much other than the build up of dust that accumulated in the small room causing my nose to wrinkle, I sneezed. I had climbed on to one of the chairs so I could see what was going on. I bit the inside of my cheek as I concentrated on balancing on my tippy toes and peering through the small box window in the corner of the room. I wish I hadn't. "I'm so happy to see you!" I laughed as Michelle jumped onto me, embracing me in a tight hug."Me too I've missed you so much Mich" I smiled at my childhood bestfriend only now realising how much I missed her."Come, sit, tell me everything, how come you're back?" She gestured me towards her bed and we sat down. I proceeded to tell her everything right down to the curse and the Vampire poison.Michelle believed in the legacy, but not so much the curse. She agreed our family legacy was filled with mate tragedies, but viewed it as just that, tragedies."I can't believe the dreams have started again" She rubbed my arm soothingly, probably remembering everytime she had to rock me back to sleep and cool my body with a damp towel when I had
Being Luna while the Alpha was away came with so many responsibilities. I had to attend all the meetings concerning the upcoming war with the vampires and trust me, there was a lot. It's been exactly a week since Jax left and he still isn't back. I don't understand how an Alpha can just pack his bags and leave his pack unattended. He knows that the vampires have been targeting us, however he still chooses to leave. Alpha of the year everybody!Training with Derek has intensified, its now been bumped to twice a day for two hours instead of one. Even though Jax isn't here, he still thinks he can send Derek little messages telling me what I can and cannot do.I've improved a lot, I now spend more time on my feet than on my back. Derek has noticed to, as he no longer spends his time constantly on his feet. On frequent occasions, I've been able to knock him down.We were about to start our last spar of the day. I watched Derek get up - after I had tackled him
Alejandro's POVI entered the cell, a glass of water in my hands. Approaching the sleeping witch, I kicked his side in order to wake him up.He woke up with a jolt, opening his eyes wide as he scanned the dimly lit room in alarm. "What did you see?" I asked, placing the glass on the other side of the room. My voice cut through the silence and he immediately peered up in my direction.A glint of amusement shone in his eyes and the look of panic vanished just as quickly as it appeared. "When I'm speaking to someone, I find it common etiquette to maintain eye contact as we talk; it brings a sense of mutual respect to the conversation, so if you could turn on the light I'd be extremely grateful." The witch always spoke with a tint of humour in his voice. He was a spiteful old man who enjoyed watching me boil in anger, if only he wasn't the key to gaining leverage over the werewolves, I would've disposed of him a long time ago.Without a word, I switched on th
I'm Jaxon, Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, the strongest and most dominant pack in the world. Yet I can't seem to display such qualities to my own pack. I haven't been focused lately and the steadfast mindset I once had is now wavering. All because of one girl, my mate, Felicity Stone. Since I could remember, my parents have taught me the importance of a mate, the unbreakable bond created between two single souls. I always envisioned the mate bond as the most beautiful and precious thing the moon goddess could give two people and the thought of breaking such a gift was unthinkable. But Felicity's words, they bothered me more than I thought they would, to the point that it even effected my responsibilities as an Alpha. I waited a few days, exercised and worked twice as much, hoping to rid her soft voice from my ear to no avail. Felicity was right, I was with someone before I met her and I mercilessly ended it because I thought that was how it was supposed to be once you've found
I hadn't heard from Matthew since the other night and frankly it didn't ease my worries. The burden of carrying such a secret still weighed heavily upon me and I was constantly on edge, waiting for the next attack. I had been trying to convince myself that keeping this secret was for our future, giving up Maria's identity would only allow the Vampires to launch a mass attack on our pack in order to destroy the poison.Maria had been MIA since she revealed all she and her husband had done. Not sure if she was doing alright, I decided to pay her a visit, curiosity getting the better of me.Knocking on the door I jumped when someone immediately shouted. "Go away!" I thought about leaving, but I needed to know how she was doing, so I knocked again.I heard heavy footsteps approaching and stepped back, unsure whether the person would swing at me once the door was open."What part of-" A short woman opened the door, her small frame glared at me and I fel
