Perhaps it was just Cornelius' own illusion, forged out of the sorrow of failing his dear brother. But Darwin had heard it too, had he not? He heard their saint talk to them. Whispered something, or had he been hallucinating?

Cornelius looked at his lover. Darwin did not return his regard. He gaped like a figure frozen in shock at the vision of their saint. The paragon.

He pursued his gaze. They saw a dark shadow glide out from behind the statue. It stood ten feet tall. Cornelius now understood the scent was not from sacrifices but from the silhouette who absorbed them. The scent was relaxing and clouding their monster knight's minds. They were all lost from the power conjured by the witch. It was to make them believe that their gods were indeed responsive.

'Pathetic knights' the old witch thought to herself. Beyond everything she hated humans. She despised all of them and so they deserve the plague, they deserve to suffer, just like her. She could still hear their voices even though
