Chapter 1499

Author: Chweety
"Fine, Julian, very well! You'll regret treating me like this today!" Jade screamed.

Having been thrown out of the Shaw residence and left homeless, Jade had no choice but to seek out Winter. Winter, however, had been in hiding due to the recent events.

No one knew her whereabouts, not even the police who were actively searching for her. At that moment, Winter was holed up in an abandoned warehouse in the southern part of the city.

Across from her sat a man dressed in a black suit, which gave him an air of darkness, like a specter of the night. His face was hidden behind an intricately crafted silver mask.

Winter could not see his face but could make out his sharp eyes and chiseled jawline, enough to imagine that he must be strikingly handsome.

She had been in that warehouse for several days, with nowhere else to go. Someone delivered food to her daily, and while she was restless, she knew she could not leave yet. Normally, the visitors were minor lackeys, but today, a more signif

Jethro tossed an object to Winter, who stared at him in confusion. "What's this?""Take it. Find the right moment to meet Noelle. The instructions on how to use it are included. Remember, there's only one of these—don't lose it."After saying this, Jethro handed Winter a small communication device. "And don't use this casually, understand?"He grabbed Winter's chin, forcing her to look up at him. "Did you get that?"Winter was momentarily stunned, her wide eyes fixed on Jethro. His piercing gaze seemed to hold secrets, making it impossible for her to look away. She swallowed hard while nodding. "I understand."Jethro smiled in satisfaction and nodded. "Good. Right now, it's not safe for you to go out. And don't go looking for Xavier again, got it?"Though Jethro's tone was calm, his words carried an implicit warning. Winter's pupils contracted slightly, and her hands clenched into fists. "I understand."He knew she had gone out before and even knew she had met Xavier.Jethro a

Even though Charles held the shares of City Ring Corp., it was Noelle who really had to run the show.Today, Ronald came from City Ring Corp. with some numbers for Noelle. "Mrs. Hoffman," he said, "Mr. Hoffman thinks that City Ring Corp. has taken a big hit. It's not going to be easy to get out of this mess quickly. We've got to deal with the projects from last year right away. Collosus Group will just have to put up some cash to cover the holes for everything else."Ronald explained while keeping an eye on Noelle. She was so engrossed with the reports that she did not even notice Ronald standing there. He waited quietly until she looked up.Noelle flipped through a few pages, her forehead wrinkling a bit. She glanced up at Ronald. "Mr. Wells, this... Mr. Wells, please sit down!"You can sit, you know!" she added, realizing he had been on his feet the whole time."That's okay, Mrs. Hoffman. I'm fine with standing!" Ronald said with a light smile. "Is something wrong?""No, nothin

"Okay!" Noelle shut her folder. "You've been working so hard lately, Mr. Wells. You should be with Charles now!" Ronald had been so busy with tasks at both City Ring Corp. and Collosus Group recently."Mrs. Hoffman, you must be kidding. I work for Mr. Hoffman, so it's my job to do these things. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way!"Ronald quickly gathered his things and got up to leave.Noelle rubbed her forehead, feeling tired. Clarisse, who was coming down the stairs, noticed and said, "Feeling worn out? You're pregnant now, so you shouldn't worry about the company. Let Charles handle it."Over time, Clarisse and Noelle had grown to get along much better.Clarisse had come to see that Noelle, her daughter-in-law, was not as troublesome as she had thought. In fact, Noelle had been a big help with rekindling the emotional bond between her and her son, Charles. When Noelle saw Clarisse coming down, she stood up to straighten some scattered papers on the desk. It was Clarisse’s first time going out with Noelle, and they were heading to the hospital for a check-up. Clarisse felt a mix of emotions she could not quite put into words. However, while Clarisse was nervous, Noelle seemed calm. They got to the hospital where Margaret was already waiting. She looked a bit surprised to see Noelle walk in with a middle-aged lady. "Mrs. Hoffman!" Noelle nodded. "Dr. Ellison, thanks for seeing us." Margaret smiled and glanced at the woman beside Noelle. Noelle smiled back. "Dr. Ellison, this is my mother-in-law."Margaret nodded in understanding. "Just a moment. I'll go check on Mrs. Hoffman!" With that, she led Noelle into the examination room.Noelle was almost five months pregnant, and her belly was starting to show. After a quick check-up, Margaret smiled. "Everything looks great. Just make sure you don't sit around too much at home. It's good to walk around a bit!""Okay!" Noelle slid off the bed, her smile as warm as sunshine. "Thanks a lo

"Yeah. You don't look too shocked to see me," Winter said with a frosty stare at Noelle. "It's all your fault, Noelle. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be in this mess!""You're the one who killed Suzy?" Noelle noticed the handkerchief in Winter's hand. She intended to use that very handkerchief to cover Noelle’s mouth and nose, and then...Noelle's gaze was sharp as she slipped her hands behind her back, swiftly pulling out her phone from her bag. She pressed the buttons from memory, all the while locking eyes with Winter. "Did you also make Grandpa so mad that he passed away?""What if I did?""Grandpa was your own family, and Suzy was your best friend. How could you hurt them, Winter?"Noelle knew she had to stay calm. She could not let Winter spot any weakness, so she kept talking, trying to needle Winter and distract her.It worked. Winter started laughing wildly. "Family? Did he ever really treat me like family? You know, when I visited him in the hospital, I thought that

Noelle’s belly was bulging. She did not dare to tug hard against Winter. However, Winter was different. She was ready to die with Noelle, so she yanked on Noelle with all her might, especially aiming for Noelle's belly. She raised her foot to kick, but Noelle pushed her away. Noelle's bag hit the ground, and her phone tumbled out.Winter's gaze fixed on the phone. Her eyes turned wild. "Calling for help? Do you think it'll make a difference?" She seemed to lose her mind, pulling out a syringe from behind. Her eyes filled with venom as she aimed for Noelle.Noelle held onto Winter's hands with all her might, pulling with all the strength she could muster. However, Winter was coming at her without any care for her own safety. As Noelle's strength started to fade, the needle got dangerously close to her. Clenching her teeth, Noelle turned her head just in time, and the needle ended up stabbing into the sink. In that instant, Noelle let go, and Winter, caught by surprise, stumbled as if

Charles was in the middle of a meeting when he heard Noelle's special ringtone. He picked up the phone quickly, but no matter how much he talked, Noelle did not say a word back. He could barely hear her voice. It sounded like she was talking to someone else.Charles stopped the meeting with a wave of his hand, especially after he heard Noelle say the name ‘Winter’ over the phone. He stood up so fast that his chair almost fell over. "This meeting is over!" he said and rushed out of the room. Ronald, who had been taking notes, jumped to his feet and called out, "Mr. Hoffman!""Find out where Mrs. Hoffman is right now, and check on where Andrew is too!"Charles's face was serious as he strode to the elevator, gripping his phone so hard his knuckles turned white. Ronald knew that was bad news. He quickly called Andrew, and just as the elevator doors were closing, he slipped inside with Charles. "Mr. Hoffman, Andrew found out she's at the hospital!"The hospital?A fierce look flashed

"Yeah. Bobby is Yankel's son, so he has to go back to the Canfield family eventually," Liliana said. As she looked up, her eyes caught a glimpse of the person in the driver's seat ahead, and she gasped. "It's you—""Liliana?" Noelle heard a voice crackling through the phone, then nothing but silence."Liliana?"Noelle jumped to her feet and tried calling Liliana back, but no one answered. She dashed downstairs, only to be stopped by Charles. "What's the matter? You look so worried.""It's Liliana. Something's happened to her," Noelle explained, clutching her phone. "I was just talking to her. It sounded like she met someone or something happened. All I heard was Liliana saying, ‘It's you,' some choppy bits of conversation, and then nothing. When I called back, nobody picked up."Noelle was not just being paranoid. She had been through enough to have a keen sense for these things.Charles's brow furrowed as he tried calling Liliana but got no response."Where was Liliana when she

Yankel was taken aback by Liliana's words. He looked at her, his face full of wonder and questions. Liliana did not know what to say, so she just coughed a little and asked, "You don't think I'm being unreasonable, do you, Mr. Canfield?"Yankel shook his head. He had never thought that. He knew Liliana loved Bobby a lot and thought it would be hard for her to give him up. That was why he was so surprised when she offered to let Bobby go back to him. "I didn't mean it like that," he said."Actually..." Liliana paused, then shared the story of how she first met Samara and how they ended up depending on each other. "You could tell that even after Samara had to leave, she still loved you a lot. She even risked her life to have your baby. I know she loved you because she asked me to take care of Bobby when she was very sick. She even worried that Bobby might be too much for me and told me to find you, so you could raise him."Liliana let out a sigh. "I guess I've been selfish. I treated

Liliana did not have any special feelings for Yankel. It was all about Bobby. She could tell Yankel really cared for Bobby. "He's Bobby's real dad. I can't keep them apart."Noelle chuckled. "Haven't figured it out yet?""Liliana just can’t forget what happened years ago." Sean wore a sad smile. "It's my fault too. If only I had gotten there sooner back then, or if I had understood my own feelings earlier, none of this would have happened." He thought his child might have been older than Peter's by now. However, Sean kept those words to himself. He knew that child was a secret he could not talk about, a pain too deep for words to convey. The two were quiet for a moment until Charles broke the silence. "Liliana's giving all the love she had for that child to Bobby now. You've noticed, haven't you?""Yeah." How could he not? That was why Sean felt so bad about it and why he wanted to do right by Bobby to make up for the baby

Yankel, you know how I've treated you all these years, don't you?"Yankel, where's your heart?"Yankel stared indifferently at Xenia, then took Lawrence away and handed him to an assistant. He even warned her, "If you want to wake everyone up, go ahead and yell."Feeling trapped, Liliana glared at Sean and whispered angrily, "What do you want?"Sean did not answer. Bobby needs to go to bed."She reached to take Bobby from Sean, but Sean was quicker and gently held her hand. His eyes briefly showed some worry as he noticed the scratches on her hand. "I should have done more than just kick her."Liliana's cheeks warmed as she pulled her hand away, a bit flustered. "I'm okay, and you did kick her, remember? She even coughed up a lot of blood!"Liliana thought the kick must have been super strong. Although she was not the one who was kicked, the pain looked so bad that she winced.Sean saw her reaction and let out a small laugh. "Don't worry.
