Two hours later, the Concorde airliner that Charlie was on landed in Damascus, the capital of Syria.

Porter and several core members of Ten Thousand Armies were already waiting at the airport. When Charlie got off the plane, Porter rushed forward and said respectfully, “Mr. Wade, I thought that you would return to the United States directly from Northern Europe. I didn’t expect that you would make a special detour to Syria, so our preparations are a little hasty.
