"I'll get Chad to order lunch" Wayne pulled out his phone to call Chad.

"Sure"

Twenty minutes later.

*knock knock*

"Come in"

After receiving the signal Chad entered the room.

"I ordered the meals from Nkoyo and I also got dessert for madam as requested" Chad informed as he placed the paper bags on the table.

"Thanks, Chad" Kaylar voiced out smiling at him as he left the room.

She felt warm and bubbly at Wayne's thoughtfulness.

How did he know that having dessert always lifted her mood? 'Aah, he so sweet' she squealed Inwardly.

"Eat up before the dishes get cold" Wayne said as he set the food in front of Kaylar.

"Okay," Kaylar nodded her head as she began to eat.

Still Inside Wayne's office.

Kaylar left Wayne's office after she was done with her meal, not wanting to delay her work.

Wayne had also gone back to work.

Currently, he was sitting at his desk and typing vigorously on the keyboard.

*ring ring*

He halted in his typing as his phone rang out.

… Closing hour at the Frenado corporation. Wayne rounded up his work earlier than usual. He then exited his office and knocked on the door to Kaylar's office before entering. "Are you done packing up?" He asked as he strode to her desk with long strides. "Almost," Kaylar hung her bag on her shoulder. "I'm done, we can leave now" … "Why did you decide to drive today?" Kaylar asked as she bulked her seat belt. It was unusual to see Wayne drive after work, especially during weekdays. "Just felt like it" Wayne floored the pedal and left the parking lot. Uneasiness and excitement cursed through his veins as he drove. It was the first time he felt anxious about a decision he made. He would occasionally glance at Kaylar as he waited for the traffic light to turn green. She looked peaceful and calm. He got lost while staring at her and was jolted back to reality when she turned to face him.Wayne turned his head away awkwardly from being caught staring. Kaylar raised a questionin

… Back at Wayne’s office, *Ring Ring* Wayne’s phone rang out. “Grandfather,” Wayne greeted after picking up the call. “How are you and Kaylar doing?” Grandpa Walsh asked. “We are very well,” “That’s good. Is there any progress in your marriage?” “Yeah, it’s better than it was a few months ago,” Wayne’s mind recalled the incident from last night as he spoke. “That’s good. Your Grandmother and I are organising a family dinner on Saturday.” "I will be there,” "Good, don't forget to bring Kaylar along,” "Sure" With that, the call ended. The week passed by, and the weekend arrived. … Afternoon in Wayne’s residence. “Are you ready?” Wayne asked as he strode into Kaylar’s room. Kaylar was dressing up for dinner at the Frenado’s mansion. “Yeah, we can leave now.” She picked up her purse from the vanity table and walked out of the closet with Wayne. Wayne couldn’t help but admire Kaylar’s figure. Kaylar wore a simple black mermaid spaghetti strap long side slit evening gown

In that small, confined space Kaylar felt the heat radiating from Wayne's body, drawing her in like a magnet. Their lips met, and the world seemed to fade away. There, in the dimly lit elevator, their kiss began with a slow, tantalising rhythm. Their mouths moved in perfect harmony, their tongues dancing with an intensity that could not be denied. It was a passionate exchange of desire, where every touch was electric and every moment was filled with sheer bliss. Each kiss was deeper than the last as if they were trying to consume each other completely. Kayla

… Back at the Frenado mansion. The dining room went silent after Wayne and Kaylar departed. No one spoke a word, but the different expressions on their face said it all. Grandpa Walsh was disappointed. Grandma Yu was upset. Olivia was aggrieved. Emilia had a look on her face that said 'Let me be going to my house, this is enough drama for one day.' Meghan was shooting glares at Emilia. Meanwhile, Jason was busy typing on his phone. A few seconds later, Asherly raised her head from her phone and mouthed. "Why?" "Just do it" Jason mouthed back. Emilia picked up her purse and turned to the old couple. "I'll take my leave now" Grandma Yu looked disappointed as she said to Emilia apologetically, "I apologise on behalf of my daughter-in-law for her reckless behaviour" "It's alright, there's no need to apologise" Emilia replied gently. There was no need for her to hold a grudge against the old lady over another person's mistake. It was not heard of. "Let me walk you to the

… As the car drove on an endless trail, the night stars twinkled. Kaylar couldn't help but feel more regret over her action. Wayne's composure fueled her regret, he played it off as if it was nothing. She recalled how she bit his neck to the point of drawing blood out of his skin. She was such a terrible person, Kaylar thought inwardly. Her emotions had gotten the best of her in the car after the family dinner, and she lashed out by biting Wayne's neck. The moment the act was done, regret washed over her, realising the gravity of what she had done. "I'm so sorry, Wayne," Kaylar could not help but whisper out, her voice filled with remorse as she gazed at the small wound on his neck. "I didn't mean to hurt you like that. It was a terrible mistake." "How many times are you going to apologise? I'm fine, don't get yourself worked up about it" Wayne played it off again as if he wasn't the one with the wound. Kaylar was once again silenced by guilt, and the drive continued, with

  • The CEO's secretary    In the midst of chaos

Wayne left Jason's room, his mind in turmoil. The weight of his mother’s venomous words lingered, but he forced himself to focus on the present. As he stepped into the hallway, he called out to the police officers. “Get Meghan out of there,” he ordered, his voice cold and detached. Without waiting for a response, he made his way back to Kaylar’s room. Inside the ward, it was quiet, almost eerily so. Kaylar lay peacefully in her bed, her breathing steady, though her face still showed signs of the ordeal she had endured. Wayne’s mother-in-law was seated beside her, but Wayne could see the exhaustion in her eyes. “You should go home and rest,” Wayne told her gently. She looked at him with a mix of concern and understanding before nodding. “Call me if anything changes,” she said softly before gathering her things and leaving the room. Now it was just Wayne, Kaylar, and Chad, who had just entered the room. Wayne could feel the chaos in his mind, the events of the day overwhelming hi

The hours dragged on in the quiet, sterile corridors of the hospital. Wayne paced back and forth, his mind heavy with worry for Kaylar. When the doors of the emergency room finally swung open, and she was rolled out, Wayne’s heart lurched in his chest. He immediately stood up, his body tensed with anxiety. Kaylar was pale, her eyes closed, and tubes were attached to her, but she was alive. That was all that mattered. Wayne followed the gurney as it was rolled into her ward. He stayed by her side, holding her hand, his eyes never leaving her face. She looked so fragile lying there, a stark contrast to the fierce, determined woman he knew and loved. But as much as he wanted to stay, Chad’s voice interrupted his thoughts. “Wayne,” Chad said softly as he entered the room, his face grim. “Jason’s just been rolled out of the emergency room.”Wayne felt a wave of conflicted emotions wash over him. He glanced back at Kaylar, her mother now sitting beside her, watching over her with the same

Before she could protest, Wayne dashed out of the building, his footsteps echoing through the empty corridors as he chased after Jason. He glanced back, seeing Wayne closing in, and gritted his teeth. He had always prided himself on staying one step ahead, but now he was cornered, his escape routes dwindling. As he stumbled into a nearby alleyway, he knew he had to make a final stand.Wayne burst into the alley just as Jason turned to face him, a gun clutched in his hand. There was no hesitation in Jason’s eyes now—only a cold resolve. Wayne barely had time to react as Jason fired. The bullet grazed Wayne’s shoulder, but he didn’t falter. He fired back, the shot hitting Jason squarely in the

Kaylar was dragged through the crumbling hallways of the abandoned building, her heels clicking against the dusty concrete. The men holding her were rough, their grip like iron clamps on her arms. She forced herself to stay calm, knowing that the internal tracking device embedded in her skin was still operational. Wayne would come. He had to.Jason’s men shoved her into a large, dimly lit room at the heart of the building. The walls were lined with rusted pipes and broken windows, allowing beams of moonlight to pierce through the darkness. The place reeked of decay, a fitting backdrop for whatever twisted plan Jason had in mind.Jason followed them in, his footsteps echoing ominously as he approached her. His eyes glinted with malicious intent as he looked down at her, bound and vulnerable. “You’re surprisingly calm, Kaylar,” he said, a smirk playing on his lips. “I suppose you’re still holding on to hope that your precious Wayne will come to your rescue.”Kaylar met his gaze, refusi

Kaylar stood at the edge of the deserted parking lot, her breath visible in the cool evening air. The location Jason had chosen was far from the city—a quiet, industrial area that seemed abandoned. The sun had dipped below the horizon, leaving only the faint glow of streetlights to cut through the gathering darkness. She checked her watch: 6:10 PM. Her nerves were frayed, but she kept her expression calm, glancing around for any sign of movement. Chad and Wayne were positioned nearby, monitoring her every move through the tracking device and earpiece she had concealed. She whispered into the earpiece, "Everything looks quiet... too quiet."Wayne’s voice crackled in her ear, “Stay alert. If anything seems off, we’re pulling you out.”Kaylar nodded slightly, trying to steady her racing heart. The air was thick with anticipation as she waited, every minute feeling like an eternity. The city was bathed in the golden hues of the late afternoon sun, its bustling streets unaware of the turmoil brewing behind the scenes. In a sleek, high-rise office, Jason sat behind his desk, his demeanour as cold and calculating as ever. His mind was focused, not on immediate confrontation, but on a strategy that would create chaos without direct conflict. Jason’s office was immaculate, a testament to his obsessive need for control. The room was filled with the soft hum of air conditioning and the occasional click of his keyboard as he worked on his laptop. A sinister smile played at the corners of his mouth as he prepared for the next phase of his plan. He was interrupted by a knock at the door. One of his trusted operatives entered, carrying a stack of documents. Jason looked up, his eyes narrowing with interest. “Everything is set, sir,” the operative said, placing the documents on the desk. Jason’s gaze flickered over the papers, his smile widening. “Excellent. Let’s proceed

"You think this is a game, don’t you?" he hissed, pulling her hair harder, eliciting another cry of pain. "You think you can keep playing around while everything falls apart?""Let me go, you’re sick!" Asherly shouted, clawing at his hand, but Jason only tightened his grip."Let you go?" Jason echoed mockingly. "Fine." Without warning, he stood up, still holding her by the hair, and flung her across the room with a merciless force.
