Kaylar woke up the next morning with a splitting headache.

'Oh goodness' she exclaimed as she reached out to the side table in search of her phone.

She couldn't find her phone then she decided to slightly open her eyes.

She scanned the room before covering her face with the duvet.

'What am I doing in his room?' Kaylar was confused.

She planned on giving Wayne an earful but ended up in his bed.

With that thought Kaylar lifted the duvet off her body just to find herself dressed in an oversized shirt.

Kaylar was furious as she thought of the possible thing that transpired between herself and Wayne last night.

"You're awake?"

Wayne walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist.

He just returned from his daily gym session a few minutes ago. His toned muscles were on full display.

"What do you think?" Kaylar replied as she got off the bed with an apoplectic expression. She then stood in front of Wayne while maintaining some distance.

"What did you do to me last

… "I have a question, please answer sincerely" Kaylar voiced out. "Did anything happen between us last night?" Kaylar couldn't get that question out of her mind, she didn't feel anything different in her body but who knows? So she asked to be sure. "Nothing happened. After scolding me you puked everywhere so I had to clean you up" Wayne answered with a shrug. He was definitely attracted to Kaylar physically. At the end of the day, he was still a perfectly healthy man. Who could resist the charm of a charming lady like Kaylar? *Sigh* Kaylar was glad, she would not have known how to face Wayne if they really did something. "My grandparents want us to visit during the weekend," Wayne informed Kaylar as he looked outside the window. His gaze was filled with uncertainty and guilt. His grandparents had high hopes for his marriage. Wouldn't they be disheartened when they find out the truth about his marriage? Kaylar remained silent. She was also nervous the weekend was the day af

Kaylar couldn't help but blush at Grandma Yu's endless praises. "Grandma, your skin is also fair and you look young, I would have mistaken you for his aunt" Kaylar flattered the old lady as she felt more relaxed. Grandma Yu was clearly flattered. "Wayne look at your wife she has a sweet mouth unlike yours" Grandma Lou teased Wayne endlessly. She liked her granddaughter-in-law, and she was compatible with her grandson both in appearance and family background. Although their personalities were contrasting they would have a beautiful marriage. Seeing how much Grandma Lou liked Kaylar, Wayne smiled to himself. "Since grandma likes her granddaughter-in-law so much, shouldn't you give her a welcome gift?" "You brat, how will I forget that" Grandma Yu glared at him with a tender smile. "Butler Su, go bring the gift I prepared for Kaylar" Grandma Yu ordered. She prepared the gift a long time ago. Before the gift arrived Grandma Yu started chatting with Kaylar. "Ever since young, Way

"She's resting," Wayne noticed his grandfather's unusual mood. "Is anything wrong?" Wayne asked worriedly. He loved his grandfather. Wayne saw him as the missing father figure in his life and anything he did was to make his grandfather happy and proud. "What are you planning to do to that poor child Wayne?" Grandpa Walsh stared straight into Wayne's eyes and asked. Wayne was perplexed by his question. "..." "You're not saying anything right?" Grandpa Walsh maintained his stare with an arched brow. "You can fool your Grandmother but you can't fool with me. What's your plan for her?" "Nothing, I plan to do nothing" Wayne lowered his gaze. He felt guilty. When he presented the contract to Kaylar he planned to make Kaylar's life a living hell. But he couldn't hurt a person who did not wrong him. He was ruthless to his opponents and people who dared to oppose him, but he couldn't to his secretary. "Are you sure?" Grandpa Walsh's gaze warmed slowly. "Yes." "What's your plan for th

"Thank you," Kaylar said to hide her embarrassment. She picked up the spoon and opened the ice cream, her eyes sparkled as she took a scoop of the ice cream. The sweet taste filled her mouth, sending a sharp pain to her head and her teeth turned cold. Wayne looked at her with a tender gaze. She looked so cute. The littlest of things could make her happy. Kaylar looked up with a spoon filled with ice cream. "You want some?" She didn't see him as an overly bad and aggrieved person anymore, her impression of him was slightly better so she didn't see any harm in offering him a share of her ice cream. Wayne shook his head lightly He didn't like sweets and would rather eat healthy than take junk food. Kaylar shrugged her shoulders and focused her attention on the ice cream. She wasn't halfway through the ice cream when she stood up abruptly and dashed into the washroom. Wayne sat there wondering what had just happened. … Kaylar couldn't describe her emotions at that point. She

Dean left the room alongside Wayne looking bewildered. He just got off work and was heading home when he received Wayne's call. He rushed over quickly to check if Wayne's condition was bad because Wayne rarely called him at night. When he heard Wayne mention a 'Sister-in-law' over the phone he thought Wayne was pulling his legs or something. He wondered where the so-called 'sister-in-law' came from because Wayne has hardly been seen with a woman. After his arrival, he was shocked to see the familiar figure laying on the bed. He couldn't believe that Wayne's secretary was his sister-in-law. 'What a life' he thought. He had prescribed some drugs for Kaylar and handed Wayne a list of things she should avoid eating for the time being. Dean was the CEO of Cedarcrest Hospital he also took up some important and high-profile cases. His family has a long history in the medical line. "Bro! When did you get married?" Dean gave Wayne an incomprehensible look. He didn't know if he was mean

"Why don't we go out for a walk," Wayne suggested. Kaylar saw no harm in his offer and agreed to go for a walk with him. After putting on their coats they strolled in the garden without saying a word to themselves. Kaylar was admiring the flowers which were of different types and colours. The garden had an aesthetic look to it. "When am I going to meet your family?" Wayne casually asked as he sat on a bench. "Whenever you want" Kaylar shrugged her shoulders as she sat on the bench too. She twirled a white flower between her fingers which she plucked a few minutes ago. Wayne watched her without saying a thing. He didn't know what to say, the only topic he could think of was work-related and he told her a while ago not to report to him at home. The silence was turning awkward. "When did you meet my mom?" Kaylar asked the question that had been hanging on her mind after the night Wayne mentioned it. … Seated in a café was an elegant lady who seemed to be in her early forties.

… Wayne closed the door to his room with a clenched jaw, his eyes hardened as he sat on the bed. He felt suffocated, he needed a place to vent out what he was feeling. The veins on his hands pulsed as he paced around the room endlessly. *Bam* *Bam…* Those were the sounds of Wayne hitting the wall. He didn't plan to stop as he continually punched the wall. Even though years passed Wayne felt the same hurt he felt all those years ago. His eyes were bloodshot, he seemed to have lost his mind at that moment. "Hah!" Kaylar gasped as she walked into the room and met the scene of Wayne hitting the wall. "What do you think you're doing?" she ran towards his distraction and blocked the wall with her body. Kaylar was startled by his expression, she's never seen this side of Wayne before. "Ahh!" Wayne groaned in dissatisfaction as he halted his fist midway. He stopped his hand in time to avoid hitting Kaylar. "What are you doing to yourself? Take a look at your hand" Wayne's attent

Kaylar also retired for the night. She felt fatigued and needed a good rest. It wasn't an easy fit being married to her boss. She continuously chided herself to remember that the marriage would end someday. She slipped under the duvet and turned off the bedside lamp. Her eyelids became heavy and she slowly drifted to sleep. In the far hours of the night. 'What are you doing Wayne?' Wayne stood at the door as he questioned himself. Currently, he was inside Kaylar's room and was contemplating whether he should join her on the bed or not. He repeatedly questioned his actions which were out of his personality and it only happened when Kaylar was around. After weighing the pros and cons he carefully slipped under the duvet and lay down, maintaining a safe distance from Kaylar. He could just wake up before Kaylar does and leave the room quietly then she wouldn't know he slept in her room, those were Wayne's thought. As time passed Wayne couldn't help but slowly inch closer and close

Wayne left Jason's room, his mind in turmoil. The weight of his mother’s venomous words lingered, but he forced himself to focus on the present. As he stepped into the hallway, he called out to the police officers. “Get Meghan out of there,” he ordered, his voice cold and detached. Without waiting for a response, he made his way back to Kaylar’s room. Inside the ward, it was quiet, almost eerily so. Kaylar lay peacefully in her bed, her breathing steady, though her face still showed signs of the ordeal she had endured. Wayne’s mother-in-law was seated beside her, but Wayne could see the exhaustion in her eyes. “You should go home and rest,” Wayne told her gently. She looked at him with a mix of concern and understanding before nodding. “Call me if anything changes,” she said softly before gathering her things and leaving the room. Now it was just Wayne, Kaylar, and Chad, who had just entered the room. Wayne could feel the chaos in his mind, the events of the day overwhelming hi

The hours dragged on in the quiet, sterile corridors of the hospital. Wayne paced back and forth, his mind heavy with worry for Kaylar. When the doors of the emergency room finally swung open, and she was rolled out, Wayne’s heart lurched in his chest. He immediately stood up, his body tensed with anxiety. Kaylar was pale, her eyes closed, and tubes were attached to her, but she was alive. That was all that mattered. Wayne followed the gurney as it was rolled into her ward. He stayed by her side, holding her hand, his eyes never leaving her face. She looked so fragile lying there, a stark contrast to the fierce, determined woman he knew and loved. But as much as he wanted to stay, Chad’s voice interrupted his thoughts. “Wayne,” Chad said softly as he entered the room, his face grim. “Jason’s just been rolled out of the emergency room.”Wayne felt a wave of conflicted emotions wash over him. He glanced back at Kaylar, her mother now sitting beside her, watching over her with the same

Kaylar was dragged through the crumbling hallways of the abandoned building, her heels clicking against the dusty concrete. The men holding her were rough, their grip like iron clamps on her arms. She forced herself to stay calm, knowing that the internal tracking device embedded in her skin was still operational. Wayne would come. He had to.Jason’s men shoved her into a large, dimly lit room at the heart of the building. The walls were lined with rusted pipes and broken windows, allowing beams of moonlight to pierce through the darkness. The place reeked of decay, a fitting backdrop for whatever twisted plan Jason had in mind.Jason followed them in, his footsteps echoing ominously as he approached her. His eyes glinted with malicious intent as he looked down at her, bound and vulnerable. “You’re surprisingly calm, Kaylar,” he said, a smirk playing on his lips. “I suppose you’re still holding on to hope that your precious Wayne will come to your rescue.”Kaylar met his gaze, refusi

Kaylar stood at the edge of the deserted parking lot, her breath visible in the cool evening air. The location Jason had chosen was far from the city—a quiet, industrial area that seemed abandoned. The sun had dipped below the horizon, leaving only the faint glow of streetlights to cut through the gathering darkness. She checked her watch: 6:10 PM. Her nerves were frayed, but she kept her expression calm, glancing around for any sign of movement. Chad and Wayne were positioned nearby, monitoring her every move through the tracking device and earpiece she had concealed. She whispered into the earpiece, "Everything looks quiet... too quiet."Wayne’s voice crackled in her ear, “Stay alert. If anything seems off, we’re pulling you out.”Kaylar nodded slightly, trying to steady her racing heart. The air was thick with anticipation as she waited, every minute feeling like an eternity. Suddenly, the distant rumble of an engine reached her ears, and she turned to see a car approaching from t

The city was bathed in the golden hues of the late afternoon sun, its bustling streets unaware of the turmoil brewing behind the scenes. In a sleek, high-rise office, Jason sat behind his desk, his demeanour as cold and calculating as ever. His mind was focused, not on immediate confrontation, but on a strategy that would create chaos without direct conflict. Jason’s office was immaculate, a testament to his obsessive need for control. The room was filled with the soft hum of air conditioning and the occasional click of his keyboard as he worked on his laptop. A sinister smile played at the corners of his mouth as he prepared for the next phase of his plan. He was interrupted by a knock at the door. One of his trusted operatives entered, carrying a stack of documents. Jason looked up, his eyes narrowing with interest. “Everything is set, sir,” the operative said, placing the documents on the desk. Jason’s gaze flickered over the papers, his smile widening. “Excellent. Let’s proceed
