Lucas POV I stared out the window at the place where Audrey and Paul got into a cab and vanished. I just felt in my bones that things weren’t quite right. I turned away and went to my desk to get my phone. I wanted to call Paul to ask where he is taking Audrey to, but something held me back. What’s Paul going to tell me, anyway? I mean, he would just say she's a friend, and that is that. I can't take that as an answer, I need more detail, and I know Paul, he’s not going to give it to me. So I set out to investigate it in my own way. And I was determined that I was going to find out who the fuck Audrey really is and what she is doing with Paul. I spent the rest of the day trying to forget about Audrey and concentrate on work. I still had a lot to do, so I went to some meetings, signed some things, and rearranged the positions of my staff a little bit. As the sun descended, I finished up and left the rest for tomorrow. I had to go home, to get some rest; I had to cool off.
Lucas POV I.....I was lost thinking about work", I stammered trying to explain to Isabella the reason why I was staring at Audrey. Isabella raised her eyebrows with her eyes narrowing all over me. "Work? Really Lucas? Because it looks like you are lost in thought staring helplessness at her. I felt cold breeze grip me as a flush rised to my cheek and I then realized I have just been caught. "I....I don't know what you are talking about, I was thinking about work and that is it", I said trying to brush it off. But Isabella wasn't having it, "Don't lie to me Lucas. I know you very well, you only look at a lady like that when you start getting attracted to her. So tell me the truth, you are attracted to her right?" I hesitated as I wasn't sure of what to respond. "No Isabella, I'm not. I can't do that to you, I'm only just distracted." Isabella looked unconvinced but she dropped it as she didn't want to prolong the talk any longer. "It's fine, I know you love me but please be
Isabella's POVI walked out of the office with my heels clicking hard on the marble floor. I couldn't just believe what I just saw in there, I mean Lucas already promised me earlier that he's not going to do that again and now he just did it. What exactly about her makes him stair helplessly. Oh God Lucas! I feel like strangling you for putting my emotions to test.I stepped into a bright light as I walked out of the company's building. I felt a wave of anger wash all over me, I mean I have been manipulating this young man for months now and he has been dancing to it but now this new girl Audrey just wants to come into the picture and spoil everything for me.I thought back to the way Lucas was helplessly lost staring at Audrey not even minding if any one was watching him and the way he helped her pick up her things. It was just like he was under a strong spell and I think I know who exactly casted it on him.AudreyThat little, spoilt witch have managed to somehow wrap Lucas around
Isabella‘s POV I need to someone to take care of Audrey. I paused as I walked into the company's entrance with my eyes scanning all over the place looking for the befitting person to use and just then, my eyes landed on Kendall, Lucas assistant. She was busy typing some documents on her computer and she started acting more busy when she noticed my presence and that my eyes were glued to her. I smiled to myself as I was happy, cause I knew Kendall is going to be the right and perfect person to help me. I walked over to her desk with my heels clicking on the floor. As I approached her, she stopped typing as she looked up with a formal smile plastered all over her face. "Good morning Miss Isabella", she said as her voice was crisp. "How can I help you ma?" I smiled as I pulled the chair opposite her and sat down facing her. "Good morning Kendall", I said "I just want to have a little chat with you about a few things. Can I ask you something?" Kendall nodded still looking forma
Audrey's POV I walked through the front door into my house feeling exhausted from the long day I spent at the hospital. Aiden's health condition weighted heavily in my heart and the piles of unpaid hospital bills in my center table seem to mock me. Just as I was about to sit down on my couch to relax my nerves, I heard a loud knock at my door and as I walked to the door to unlock it, I saw Claire standing with blue bag. "Hey, girl, I guessed that since today is Sunday and you won't be at work that you would be with Aiden. But when I went to the hospital I did not see you there", Claire paused as she walked into my parlor. "So, I figured out that you would be here, so I came here straight and on my way, I stopped at the eatery to get you rice, your favorite food. Here dear, you can have it". Claire said holding up the blue bag containing steaming hot food. My eyes welled up as tears gathered at the corner of my eyelid. "Thank you so much Claire, you are a lifesaver ". I said as I g
Lucas PovThe next morning I arrived at the office earlier than usual. My whole head was a chaotic storm of emotion I couldn't seem to shake off. Audrey had taken up some permanent residence in my thoughts, and no matter how hard I tried to focus more on the memory of her smile, look, appearance, and the way her eyes lit up, it kept pulling me back aside.I wasn't even sure when it had started, but it's clearer now. I was drawn in a way that I couldn't explain, and I didn't want to, yet I knew I could not try to afford distractions, not with so much at stake; I mean, my whole life, my company, and my reputation are on the line. I can't afford to be distracted.I intentionally buried myself in work, hoping that the piles of reports and some kind of endless emails would drown out the chaos in my head. But calm was short-lived; it kept replaying what happened yesterday at the meeting. The investors actually noticed my lack of focus, and I pray they don't change their mind and withdraw fr
Lucas POVOhh god! What is going on? Why do I feel like I am dragging myself into big trouble, a trouble that the stakes are higher than I can ever have imagined? I said to myself as I glanced through the text on my phone for the second time, the glow of the screen burning into my eyes. My fingers hovered over the keypad, unsure of what to respond. Was this some kind of sick joke or something? A warning? Or worse, a threat? For a moment, I considered ignoring it, brushing it off as a prank. But the deliberate mention of Audrey made my pulse quicken. Who is this? And how did this person know about Audrey?I quickly dialed the number. The number rang twice before disconnecting, and when I tried again, the number was out of service. My frustration shimmered just beneath the surface as I slammed the phone onto my desk.Who would send such a message? Isabella immediately crossed my mind. She had the motive and the temper. But this didn’t feel like her style. She was bold, confrontational.
Isabella's POV As Kendal stood before me, the satisfaction that surged through me was almost intoxicating. She was more than an accomplice—she was my sharpest weapon. Her performance had been impeccable. I leaned back, letting a faint smile play across my lips, my tone deliberate and razor-edged. “You’ve truly outdone yourself, Kendal. The lies you told Lucas are just too seamless. He’s already starting to question Audrey. Exactly as planned.”Kendal’s smile widened, a flicker of pride glinting in her eyes. “Thank you, Isabella. It’s an honor to have the privilege to assist you. I take pride in my work.”I leaned forward, my voice soft but dripping with venomous intent, as though sharing a secret meant to stain the air. “Good. But now, we escalate, that is we are going to the next stage of our plans which is to make her life unbearable, subtle, precise, and devastating for her in this office .Push her into making small, fatal mistakes. Make her doubt herself and loose focus in her e
LEX’S POVThree months after Olivia left, guilt gnawed at me. Victoria’s disloyalty and coldness only made me see how badly I’d treated Olivia.I was sitting at my desk, going through some papers. There was a knock. Amanda, my assistant, looked in. "Mr. Kingston, Isabelle's assistant is here to see you."I straightened. "Send her in."A timid-looking woman came in, glanced around nervously. "Mr. Kingston, I have to talk to you. about Olivia Chen. I think she was set up."I looked up quickly. "What do you mean?"She took a breath. "I saw Isabelle and Victoria acting strange back then—whispering and arguing. Isabelle even asked me to look at the security footage from the night of the supposed incident, saying it was for some sort of project. Later, that footage was deleted.I leaned forward. "Are there any backups?" "I guess so. IT likes to keep logs."As soon as she went out, I called IT, and after what felt like a long time, they brought up the video. I gazed at the grainy video, my h
OLIVIA’S POVLex was on the bed with Victoria, my colleague and his secretary. Their clothes and pants were undone, and had bedsheets over them.Their eyes met mine. We just stared at each other, and I felt like I'd been hit in the gut."Olivia." Lex whispered, almost taunting. "Why are you here? Didn't I tell you not to come back?Victoria smiled wryly and pulled the cover up tighter around her. "Well, well, well. Look who's here. The poor, abandoned fiancée.""You're something, Victoria," I spat, my voice low and even. "I never would have pegged you as the type to screw over your friend’s fiancé." "Oh, Olivia. Don't play dumb. Do you really believe you're the first girl Lex has ever dated? He's been a player all his life."Lex just stood there watching. I turned to him. "Lex, say something. Tell her to stop." He shrugged, not caring. "What’s there to say? You’re overreacting." "Overreacting?" My voice shook. "You're sleeping with my friend, and it's nothing?" "This is all drama, Oli
OLIVIA’S POVI smooth down my simple cream dress, bought with my intern pay, and try to calm my nerves. Tonight was supposed to be special. I barely recognize the hopeful woman in the shiny walls of Kingston Tower's executive floor. My journey from intern to falling in love with Alexander Kingston has felt like a dream.Amanda interrupts. “Miss Chen, Mr. Kingston wants to see you now.”“Is everything okay?” I ask, noticing her tension. She averts her eyes. “Mr. Kingston will explain.”I take a breath, lift my chin, and step into Lex's office. He stands by the window, his back to me.“Lex?” I whisper. “Is everything okay? The guests are arriving for the engagement party...”He turns, his gray eyes cold. I flinch. “Tell me, Olivia,” he says sharply. “How long did you think you could fool me?”“What?” I gasp, clutching my purse. “Lex, I don’t understand—”“Don’t.” He steps closer, anger simmering. “I have proof.”He presses a button, and a screen lights up. Blurry security footage shows

DAMON'S POV“What? You can't fire everyone! Marcus, what's going on!” Someone exclaimed.“Oh, yes, I can,” I thought, watching the commotion grow. I didn't care. I had expected this.Marcus stepped forward, looking confused. “Mr. Damon, I understand that you want to make changes but firing them is not the solution. These people have dedicated their lives to serving the company,” he explained.I raised an eyebrow, my expression unchanging. “That's the reason they have to go,” I replied.“They contributed to the failure of this company, and I have no intention of wasting money and dragging this company further down,” I added. The room was silent, with all eyes fixed on me in shock. Mr. Marcus looked like he was about to argue, but I cut him off.“I don't trust your methods and I intend to fix it,” I said calmly, making him stare in shock. He tried to explain. “Damon, I can assure you that we’ve done everything we can to…”I cut him off. “I believe I was clear on my terms. Maybe, I'll be
DAMON'S POVI sat at the head of the conference table, listening to the presenter share his ideas. It didn't seem promising to me, and I started to get angry.“The estate would produce a good profit with the supposed budget because…” the man said, but I interrupted him.“You're implying this company feeds your idea of wasting money on some dead establishment,” I said, shocking everyone.“But, sir,” the man said defensively. “The estate will…” he continued, but I had just enough.“Bring nothing!” I retorted and he gulped.“How much do you earn every month?” I asked, looking at him.He swallowed and stammered. “T…ten thousand, sir.”I smiled and continued calmly. “Ten thousand. How would you like to be demoted?”“Um, I…I,” the man stammered.“I don't pay ten thousand to get a lousy work like this. This organization doesn't work on charity. Am I clear?” I asked, and he nodded.“Yes, sir,” he answered.“Good, I expect a better idea next time, or you all will be fired!” I said, looking at
ISABELLA POV“I am getting married!” I cheered, adjusting my falling tiara. The music played loudly from the speaker while my friends and I danced.I sipped my glass of champagne, twirling as I enjoyed my bachelorette party.“Tomorrow, I am going to be a married woman!” I yelled with joy and my friends cheered me on.“Cheers to the bride!” Courtney, my best friend, praised me.“Cheers!” The others cheered.“Let's get drunk!” One of the ladies said, with the others cheering.“Minus you, Bell. We can't have a drunk bride on the altar tomorrow,” Courtney warned, and I smiled, nodding. We all clinked our glasses together, and I took a large sip, savoring the moment. “Aaah,” I groaned happily. “That felt good.”“Bell,” Courtney called, a warning in her tone.“Come on, Courtney. Let her relax a little,” Merida said, but Courtney wasn't having it.“If she relaxes any longer. We might have a huge problem,” Cortney replied, grabbing my wine glass.“That's why you're her maid of honor. You can
Lucas POV scheduled a meeting with my board members, along with my financial team. We assembled in the conference room, and I could feel the tension in the atmosphere. "Lucas, what’s happening?" inquired one of the board members. "We've received odd reports concerning the company's finances." I inhaled deeply and clarified the circumstances. "Audrey seems to have reached out to several investors, and she has been disclosing private information regarding the company." The room became quiet, and I noticed the anger and frustration displayed on my team members' faces. "We cautioned you regarding this, Lucas," one of them remarked. "We mentioned that Audrey was responsible for the earlier scandal, yet you chose not to heed." I experienced a wave of remorse and contrition. "I apologize," I said. "I ought to have heeded your advice." "However, what actions can we take at this moment?" The members of the team nodded in disapproval. "There's nothing we can accomplish," one of them rema
