The streets around Bar Grand Avenue were packed with pedestrians who wanted to see New Year’s celebrations in the open area, which was not far from Times Square. Not only that, the lights twinkling beautifully along the entertainment center. Not to mention the cars that crowded along the road and not a few who parked carelessly.
Meanwhile, Via, who was waiting for Disya outside the Grand Avenue toilet, became restless, because her friend had not come out from there. More than twenty minutes Via waiting, but it seemed Disya still not finished.
“Are you still in? Need more minutes?” Via asked while knocking on one of the stalls that Disya was using.
“Go ahead, my stomach still hurts!” Disya answered in the end, making Via sigh and walk out with a sluggish shoulder.
“I’ll be waiting outside the building!” said Via which was only answered with a grunt. It seemed that Disya was really in pain and her stomach was
Sean’s head ached as he got out of the bed, as did the left side of his stomach hurt and throbbed. A grunt from the right side of the bed made his head turn slightly. He looked at a man sitting on a sofa with a magazine in his lap.“You better lie down before the doctor comes in and sees you in that position,” the man advised before shifting his focus back to the magazine.Sean snorted softly and tried to get out of bed while enduring the pain with the occasional grimace. There was a sigh from the direction of the man sitting on the sofa, making Sean’s face contort in annoyance.“I told you to lie back down, but your stubbornness is a waste of my time,” said the man again, clicking his tongue and shaking his head.“You can go home when you’re done with the police,” Sean said as he growled and his breathing turned heavy, he was having a hard time holding back his body that nearly wobbled.
Two months had passed since that incident, even Via had forgotten the trauma of when a stranger pointed a gun at her. If Via tried to look back, she felt lucky because she got a help quickly, but until now, she had never once known or seen the face of the man who was robbed in the past.Fortunately, there was Disya who always came to help when Via had just returned from the hospital at that time. Just imagine how difficult it was to move when the joint in her shoulder shifts so that her left hand couldn’t be used for several weeks.“When does your shift end?” asked Disya who worked behind the counter. This was their last month at university, and if nothing went wrong, then they would both get a bachelor’s degree in a few weeks and be able to apply for work immediately, but before that time came, Via and Disya were still working part time at the campus coffee shop that already employed both of them since freshmen.“Two more ho
Via stood in front of the Luna Star Hotel building and looked at the building hoping that this interview would go smoothly. Before going inside, she fixed her make-up and formal clothes that were clinging to her body many times with nervous movements. After taking a deep breath and praying silently, Via walked confidently through the door and stopped at the information section.“Excuse me, I have an interview appointment for the Quality Control position at Luna Star in about fifteen minutes,” Via said with a smile on her face. The woman behind the desk stared at Via for a moment before checking the computer in front of her.“Wait a minute, I want to confirm first,” the woman replied as she called someone. While waiting, Via looked around in all directions, unconsciously twisting her fingers until they were red.Hotel Luna Star was truly magnificent. It was more like a castle than a hotel. There were hundreds of millio
It was raining very heavily, until Via came home to the apartment soaking wet. She jogged as she passed the puddles on the road to the front porch of the apartment building that she had rented. Several residents of the apartment came in and out holding umbrellas.Unluckily, Via forgot to bring the umbrella, because the weather forecast lately liked to change suddenly.“Hello,” said one of the occupants of room number five who came down the stairs.“Hey,” said Via, greeting back. The two women passed in different directions. After climbing the stairs to the fifth floor, Via also felt exhausted before reaching the front door of the room.“Ah! You’re back? What about the interview?” asked a young woman who popped her head out of the blue, coming from the next room which Via rented. With a wet face and slightly trembling body, Via’s lips which began to turn blue gave a sweet smile. She looke
Monday, Via excited to get to work on the first day at the Luna Star Hotel. She even had to check her appearance several times to make sure that her clothes weren’t folded, and she looked at herself in the mirror for a long time, even though the lipstick and powder were perfect. It felt like something was still missing, until finally she realized that time had passed so quickly, it was almost too late.“Jeez, You will get there past meeting hours. Maybe you’re more concerned with your appearance,” Via muttered as she pulled a bag and a set of keys before leaving the room. She was forced to use the subway, because she did not have a car or money to pay for a taxi. After arriving in front of the Luna Star, Via felt that her cloth was wrinkled again, due to being jostled with train passengers. Before entering the building, she checked her make-up first, and fixed her white shirt and black knee-length skirt that were almost folded here
Via studied one by one the documents given by her new boss, Hadley Fulton, a Luna Star Hotel Management Representative.“Luna Star has Eight Divisions. I want you to know every division and sub-division, but now, you just need to study the data on the Quality Control Division and the Document Controller. Everything you need is in Bantex,” explained the man while holding out a large blue file storage. “After this, I will give you training on the quality management system at Luna Star.”Via’s head became heavy when she found a pile of documents piled up on the table.“Pardon me? I… have to learn these… all?” asked Via who couldn’t take her eyes off the files in front of her.Hadley nodded and added another bundle of documents on top of the rolling pile of papers.“If there’s something you don’t understand, just ask me,” Hadley said as he walked out
Sean’s focus was distracted during meeting. He didn’t even listen to the operations manager, Daren Osbert, who explained about Luna Star’s monthly report getting an eighty percent increase in visitors.Sean felt like banging his head on the table as he recalled the conversation he had with Via before.Sometimes he tricked her into agreeing to his absurd plans. Maybe, if Brodi knew what Sean was doing when he persuaded Via, he would have mocked him and said Sean was the most impatient man.“Sean…?”Hearing his name being called, Sean came to his senses and returned his focus to the meeting room. He cleared his throat and answered, “Ya?”His best friend looked at him for a long time, making him a little embarrassed.“What’s your opinion about it?” Daren asked suddenly which made Sean’s forehead furrow even deeper. He glanced around at some of the subordinates sittin
After returning from Luna Star, Via walked into the apartment building and she was extremely tired. Again, it was raining heavily outside, making her shirt wet, leaving a trail of water droplets along the corridor that she passed when she headed to the apartment room.“Gosh! Is it raining outside again?” asked a woman who was next to Via’s room.Via coldly answered before going answered. “Yeah, I think it’s going to rain until next week.”The woman smiled and closed the apartment door when Via managed to open the lock.Actually, she wasn’t very close to any of the residents in the apartment, but the woman next to her room would greet her when she came home.“The heater is still off, I hope you won’t get cold tonight!” said the woman who had invited Via to talk from inside her own room. The walls of the building were very thin, allowing Via to easily hear the surrounding voices
