DAMIEN'S POV

I watched as Ella's eyes widened at my crazy suggestion and I couldn't stop the smirk that tugged on my lips.

“Are you crazy? What do you mean mouth to mouth? You're the sick one, if you refuse to take the soup, I'll just leave you here and return to the office.” She threatened even though I could the blush that formed on her cheeks as she spoke.

“You don't want me to get well, right? Is it all nothing but an act?” I teased her with my questions and she looked at me with a conflicted expression as she dropped the bowl.

“Listen, Damien, you either drink the soup like a good boy or I'll leave your sick ass and return to work! Stop trying to order me around, we're not at the office.” She replied with a scowl and I chuckled softly at how easy it was to mess with her.

“Alright, fine, I was teasing you, relax. But I'll only drink it if you feed me. I'm too weak to move my hands.” I replied as I closed my eyes like I was weak and she scoffed in amusement.

“Weak, my foot. For som

ELLA'S POV“What happened after his death? Your father, I mean.” Damien asked and I smiled at him as I sat up before crossing my legs.“Well, I cried, Mom cried and she never looked at me the same way again. I stopped going to school at some point because I was traumatized. Mom couldn't hold on and the business started to collapse. Before we knew it, we had gone bankrupt and we had to sell the company and our house. We moved to a new place, around that bar you found me that day and we've been living there ever since. Mom wouldn't even look me in the eye. She says it's all my fault, and she isn't wrong.” I explained and he held my shoulders as he made me look at him before he gently wiped my tears.“It's not your fault at all. You just wanted to have fun with your parents like other kids. She shouldn't blame you for it… listen to me; you're not impatient, greedy, or stupid. You were just a child. You didn't know any of that was going to happen.” He said gently and his words made the te

DAMIEN'S POVMy entire body felt warm with how Ella gently caressed my hair like our relationship was beyond what it was on the surface. She had opened up about her childhood to me and though I wanted to do the same, I couldn't find the courage to tell her what happened.I never told anyone about what happened. Not my dad, not Sylvia. Why, then, do I want to tell her everything? Do I want her to sympathize with me too?I was drifting off to sleep when she called out my name but I stayed silent. I held my breath when she came closer and I thought she was about to kiss me. However, she pulled away and got off the bed, causing me to get suspicious.I opened my eyes slightly as my eyes caught sight of her snooping through my drawers, and my gaze immediately darkened. I should have known she was up to something, she was just like her best friend. She headed towards my closet and I got off the bed silently and crept up behind her, wanting to know what she was up to. I wanted to know what sh

ELLA'S POVI had unknowingly fallen asleep in Damien's arms and the feeling that came along with it made me realize that I might regret trying to hurt Damien because of Sylvia. So, I came up with a better option.I'll find out the real truth so that if Damien truly framed Sylvia and was at fault, I wouldn't have to feel guilty for doing anything to him. However, if he was innocent… we would simply find out who tried to frame Sylvia and get our revenge on them.I took my phone, placed a soft kiss on his cheek, and then left the room. The security guard looked somewhat sad when I came out, causing me to look at him in confusion.“What's with that sad expression? You don't want me to leave?” I teased as I walked up to the gate and to my surprise, he nodded quickly. “Why don't you want me to leave?”“Well, you seemed to take care of my boss well and he hasn't had anyone come here in a long time to help him with his daily necessities.” He said and I raised my brow at him in confusion.“Wha

DAMIEN'S POVI had gotten better faster than I thought due to Ella's magical soup that tasted amazing. I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have her cook for me every day…“What are you thinking, Damien? You should trust no one!” I said to myself as I slapped my palm over my forehead and then got out of bed. It was a new day and I had to resume work today.Being sick for the first time in a long time had its benefits. I was able to rest, taste Ella's cooking, and also have her take care of me. It was an amazing feeling… but I knew that it was too good to be true.I had just gotten out of the bathroom when my phone rang loudly on the table next to my bed. I glanced at the caller ID and my face lit up when I saw it was from my stepsister as I picked up the call immediately.“Hey, baby brother!” She said in her loud, cheery voice, and I chuckled at the audacity she had. She never failed to tease me at every opportunity she got.“Call me baby brother one more time and you'l

ELLA'S POVSomething in me wanted to call Damien to know how he was fairing and if he was feeling better but I didn't want to seem too forward. I just hoped he was already doing okay.I walked into the company feeling a little tired than usual but I ignored it. There had been a lot going on recently and maybe my body just needed a little rest. I walked up to Damien's office but he wasn't here yet. Was he still sick?I started contemplating on if I should go to his house again to check up on him. I felt uneasy due to his absence and after minutes of arguing with myself, I decided to head over to his house.I boarded a cab that took me there and held the golden card in hand in case the security guard forgot about me.Arriving at the gate, I rang the doorbell, and as expected, the tiny door opened, and a hand stretched out. I placed the golden card in it and the door was immediately opened as the security guard stared at me in happiness.“You came again.” He said and I nodded with a nerv

DAMIEN'S POVI couldn't help but notice the change in Ella's behavior when she sent me out of the office to get an iced pack. It was almost like she was mad at me for something I knew nothing about.I returned to my office and pulled open the freezer that stood by the end of the office. I guess I have Sylvia to thank for making me keep this here in case of emergencies.I took out an iced pack and returned to the office where I heard them speaking to each other. Julietta seemed happy to talk to Ella but Ella's tone suggested otherwise. I hovered outside the door for a moment as I listened in on their conversations.“So how's my brother been treating you?” I heard Jullietta say and there was silence for a while before she spoke up again.“What's wrong?”“Damien is your brother?” Ella asked and I could hear the shock in her voice. Hold on… her attitude was finally making sense…She had probably misunderstood us and thought that we were dating. She did say something about me cheating prev

But Father… he's been trying his best to build his relationship back with you. Don't you think you should give him a chance?” She asked softly as she placed her hands over mine but I shook my head immediately.“Does he really deserve my forgiveness? If he was never so distant, if he was always there whenever I needed him, then I wouldn't have had to go through all that shit. Your mom wouldn't have had to threaten me by using you as bait. I wouldn't have lost my freedom as a child. Think about it, Julie.” I said and pulled my hands out of hers but she held it back again as she pouted at me sadly.“I'm not asking you to forgive my mom. I just want you to give father a chance to show that he's sorry. He still doesn't know what my mom did to yo

I gulped in response as I tried to pull away, but he was holding my chair in a tight grip.“What are you talking about, Damien? You can't just ask me to be your girlfriend out of nowhere! That's absurd.” I replied, my face flushed in embarrassment as I looked everywhere except his eyes and he chuckled softly.“I'm simply offering you a solution so that you can stand by my side. Or will you like me to announce that you're my mistress?” He teased and I slapped my hand over his chest as I huffed in annoyance.“Why don't you take someone else? Why me? You could have taken Keyla or Selina, why me?” I asked grumpily and he smirked as he made me look at him before he placed a soft kiss on my lips.“Because I can't go with any of them. I would remain crouched in the corner while begging that she doesn't come closer until the rain stopped and I returned to the reality that she was there. However, Ella… She had stayed by my side even though I pushed her away. She was slowly prying my heart open and I feared that she would take full control of it before I could stop her.“Tell me. You've told me about your dad's death and your mother's hatred for you… What else did you go through?” I asked, and she smiled a little as she opened her mouth to speak, but I stopped her.“Hold on,” I mumbled as I leaned back into the chair and then gestured for her to lay her head on my chest instead. “It's your turn.”Sh

DAMIEN'S POVI couldn't deny the fact that I missed Ella with everything in me. Ever since I had lashed out at her at the event, she has refused to speak to me. I know it was all my fault for being so cold to her that day but I couldn't stop myself. My mind was blank that day and I didn't even know what I was saying or doing. I've done everything to get her attention but whenever she sighted me, she'd walk off in the other direction. She probably hated me now.I've visited her office a few times but it was either locked from inside or empty. She was ignoring me at every chance she got and it was killing me inside.“She's still not talking to you?” I heard Julietta say as she walked inside my office and I sighed before turning away from the window.“She must hate me now. I wouldn't be surprised if she did, I spoke to her really harshly that day.” I mumbled as I collapsed on the chair and she sighed in frustration.“You messed everything up when you first spoke harshly to her at the bar

I'm not in love with Damien. I just don't want to have anything to do with him anymore.”“What do you mean?” She asked in confusion, and I let out a sigh as I ran a hand through my hair in frustration.“I just don't want to get close to him anymore. His sister likes me a lot and keeps hinting that I should date her brother-”“Wait, you've met his sister? Julietta?” Sylvia asked in shock and I nodded in affirmation as a scoff of disbelief escaped her lips.“I don't like Damien, don't get me wrong. ELLA'S POVIt's been days since we left the event at Damien's father's house and I haven't spoken with Damien ever since then. Not after how he pushed me away like I was nothing to him. I thought nothing about him could hurt, I didn't even feel that hurt when he told me to mind my business. But pushing me off when all I wanted to do was help him? Was that how he repaid me for caring for him? I had driven back home in silence that day, regretting why I agreed to follow him to the damn event anyway.Julietta had tried to talk to me as well but I avoided both of them. I didn't need her to explain to me why he did what he did. He can keep his damn secrets and experience to himself, it was all my fault for trusting him and telling him about mine.I shouldn't have gotten closer to him, it made my head hurt. I shouldn't have listened to Sylvia when she told me to help her get revenge. Now that I felt something for him, what was I supposed to do?How was I supposed to complete the so-called r

Aren't you satisfied with my dad?” I asked in frustration but she chuckled in amusement as she shook her head in response.“You shouldn't have run away, Damien. It was so unruly and disrespectful of you. After all the love and affection I gave to you, you decided to run away from me, did you think you could run away forever?” She asked in her irritating, soft voice, and I clenched my hands into fists as I glared at her.“Love and affection? You call molesting me love and affection? You threatened every day for ten years by using Julietta as bait. I was powerless to you then, but not anymore. You can do nothing to me, Maria.” I said coldly even though I was trembling within. My brain kept replaying the scenes of me tied up in a chair when I was young while she had her way with me. I wished that I understood what was going on but Julie wasn't telling me anything, which only confused me the more.Damien was a grown man, why would he be in trouble just because he was alone? What were they hiding from me?“Julie, at least tell me something, anything that'll give me an idea as to where he is. I don't even understand why you're panicking so much.” I said in frustration but she still wouldn't tell me anything as she continued to pace around anxiously.“Listen, I'm not the one who's supposed to tell you any of this. Damien is the one who'll tell you everything, which is why we gotta find him as soon as possible. Scott sat next to me and took my hand, almost like he was giving me the silent support that I needed.“Well, your friend was hit badly from behind at the back of her head. She's fine now but there's a little problem…” He said calmly and my heart pounded wildly in my chest as he placed his hands on the table.“Tell me what it is, doctor. As long as she's fine and she's not dying, I'm sure it's not that bad.” I said to him but I didn't know if I was reassuring myself or reassuringly him.“Your friend might end up losing her memory.” He said and it felt like a bomb had been dropped inside me. “With how badly she was

Who was this woman and why did she have an effect on Damien?“Aren't you happy to see me, Damien?” She said as she placed her hand on his shoulder but he immediately slapped it away, causing me to let out a soft gasp in shock.“Don't.
