Chapter 4

Hailey fell to the ground weakly. The porcelain shard of the boek pierced her palms,but she seemed to numb the pain. She stared at the man who rushed out of the house.

Suddenly, blood gushed up her throat and she couldn't help but to vomit on the floor. The blood turned the carpet red.

Nikolai left her for Agnes, again....

Hailey thought, what was I trying to do just now?

She actually expects Nikolai to believe her and doubt Agnes....it was very silly of her to have high hopes of winning him back.

Hailey sat in the living room for the whole night. As time passed, the sky finally brightened and sunlight shone into the house.

"Hailey, are you in there? Open the door!"

There was a loud and abrupt knock on the door, she heard her mother's voice.

Hailey was surprised. She hurried over to open the door.

After she married Nikolai, she had moved into this mansion. She had lived here for three years but not once has her mother come to visit.

"Hailey, something bad happened to Agnes!"

As soon as Mrs George came in, she grabbed Hailey's hand anxiously. Her gaze was filled with worry, "Yesterday, when Nikolai left, Agnes seemed emotionally unstable. She smashed everything she could find in her room and chased me away. She said she wanted to be left alone.....then she stayed there for a long time. When I started getting worried and opened the door, I found out that she had cut her wrist"

"Cut her wrist?..." Hailey said with a faint skole on her lips. "Is the wound deep? Did she hleed a lot?"

Mrs George's eyes widened, "Hailey, Agnes is your sister. She had tried to take her own life, how could you say something like that?"

Hailey looked away and said, "Mom, if you have anything else to say, just say it. Don't hear around the bush "

Agnes was her younger sister. No one knew better than her that Agnes was innately selfish and cowardly.

She would rather belive that pigs could fly than believe that Agnes tried to commit suicide.

"Hailey since you've said so, I will just get straight to the point "

"Mrs George sighed, "In the past three years, as Agnes was receiving treatment abroad, the doctor said she has been traumatized, so she was mentally unstable. When she came home and saw you and Nikolai as a married couple. She couldn't deal with it and she tried to take her own life....I have lost Agnes once when she was a child. She was as important to me as my life! After she survived the fall three years ago, she had spent years to recover. I don't want to loss her again"

"Hailey, you're my dear daughter. Please take pity one and save Agnes for my sake, okay?"

Hailey looked at herothed incredulously. If she and Mrs George didn't look like they werade from the same mold, she would have suspected that she was adopted. But she was indeed Mrs George's biological daughter!

Yet her mother was treating her like she was nothing, breaking her heart again and again.

Hailey kept on a straight face and asked even though she knew where her mother was driving at, "How do I save Agnes, what do you want me to do?"

"Divorce Nikokai.... " Mrs George grabbed her hand. "If Agnes can be together with Nikolai, she will be alright "

Hailey was totally astounded.

It turned out that Agnes act was not just for Nikolai. It was also meant for their mother, just so she would convince her to divorce Nikokai.

"Mom, don't you worry that after I divorce Nikokai, I will he devastated and try to take my own life too?"

"Hailey, I believe that you can withstand the heartbreak. You're a strong woman. Divorce I'd just a minor set back to you right? "

Mrs George grasped her hand, "You've had a successful career and you're able bodied unlike Agnes. She doesn't have a career and her legs are paralyzed.... Hailey, all Agnes want is to be with Nikokai. You can fulfill their wish..."

Hailey looked at her mother who was staring at her expectantly. She felt blood gushed up her throat again.

Agnes's legs are paralyzed, but did her mother know that her other daughter was diagnosed with stomach cancer and had only three months to live?

Hailey couldn't hold it anymore, she covered her mouth and rushed into the washroom.

She spat a mouth full of blood into the bathtub. The sight of the red blood was glaring.

Meanwhile, she received a text on her mobile phone.

It read, "Miss George, your test report is out. The cancer cells on your stomach has spread. I suggest that you immediately check yourself into the hospital for operation "

Hailey thought, "I have less than three months to live, what else can I do?"

There was a trace of bitterness on the tip of her tongue.

She had loved Nikolai for ten years, but they had only been married for three years. But she had lost spectacularly in her battle of love.

Still, Hailey refused to give in. Her journey of love was long and filled with obstacles. She had given everything she had. She refused to surrender without putting on a fight..

At least....

She must get the wedding dress that she deserved!

Even if she has paid a painful price for the wedding dress, she wouldn't complain!

Hailey gathered the divorce papers and went to Matthew Corp Tower. Just as she was about to enter the President's office, the secretary stopped her.

"Miss, do you have an appointment?"

Hailey's gaze fell on the secretary, "Head in and tell Nikolai that a woman named Hailey George wants to meet him"

Hailey George?!

The secretary paled slightly.
