“I won! Now you have to grant me a wish,” Evina boisterously reacted with her fist in the air.
Her feet jumped up from the sofa and flashed a warm smile at her father. William scratched his head as he shrugged his shoulders.
They were playing chess after dinner while Maria and Simon washed the dishes. Evina decided to take this opportunity to ask him to meet up with Chairman Yang.
Though, she has no idea if he would agree with it or not.
“All right. What is it that you want?” William sighed, giving in to the whims of her daughter.
He then put back the chess pieces to their case. A grin made its way to his face.
Evina drew in a deep breath. She knew this would not be easy.
After The Elysian Inc cast him out, he runs away and never lets anyone see his face again. How would she make him show up again?
She picked up a huge throw pillow and embraced it as she contemplated how to open up.
“I went
Evina bit her fingernails as she stared into nothingness. Her heart was palpitating faster than light. Her father and the Chairman would be meeting later in the afternoon. And she felt jittery about the outcome. “Calm down. If Plan A didn’t work out, we have Plan B anyway,” Gabriel soothed her anxiety. He held her hand and brought it to his lips. It is the weekend and Gabriel didn’t come to work. He and Evina decided to go to a jewelry store. Their plan is to go to the Chairman’s Villa after their meeting and give him a gift. If the result is great, they could celebrate. And if not, they could pacify him. Evina walked inside the store with Gabriel. All the attendants came to their side for assistance. “Good afternoon, Mr. Yang and Ms. Chen,” They addressed them. “Good afternoon,” They both greeted them back. But afterward, Gabriel whispered in Evina’s ear, “Very soon they will not call us like that. It will be Mr. and M
Chairman Yang paced back and forth at the floor. His hand flew to rub his neck as he checked on his watch. He was already an hour late. “Did he opt to back out at the last minute?” He sneered. He has been waiting for him inside the car. But since it was taking him a long time, he decided to get out of the car and wait for him outside. “I did not,” A voice behind him replied. Chairman Yang turned to his back and saw William approaching him. He chose to meet up at the first office of The Elysian Inc. Building. It was part of a shabby commercial complex then. But now it deteriorated to extinction as there were no tenants left in the place. Instead, it was an old abandoned building filled with exposed pipes and loops of loose wiring hanging through holes in the ceiling and torn-up flooring. He wanted him to be reminded of their good memories that he destroyed. With a sarcastic smile on his face, he smirked as William walked towards him. He
Chairman Yang felt like the whole building just collapsed on him. His extremities felt numb and paralyzed. He was just intensely arguing with him a few minutes ago. And now is he actually dying in front of him?His driver and bodyguard already went out of the car and checked out the surrounding areas. When they came back, they immediately retorted, “We have to leave now, sir.”He pulled his arm away from them as he argued, “And what about him? Will we just allow him to die here like this?”He then pointed to William who had already passed out at that moment.“But sir, they cannot see you with this man,” his bodyguard commented. They were still at the abandoned complex, the former Elysian Inc office, but was now a haunted place. It was getting dark, so the only light that was allowing them to see each other was the fainting light of the setting sun.The place was also far from the metropolis, so ther
The characters in the movie were so hilarious, Evina couldn’t help but laugh hysterically. To her surprise, Gabriel laughed along with her. Evina was stunned. She has never seen Gabriel laugh that hard before. “I didn’t know you have a funny bone under your sleeves, sir,” she elbowed him with enthusiasm radiating in her face. Then she rubbed his arm in a loving manner and smiled at him. They were both in the movie house as they awaited the outcome of the meeting of their fathers. It was already getting dark outside the mall that they were at. Some of them were already on their way to restaurants or fast dining to have their dinner. But the two lovers decided to stay and enjoy the time that they missed while they were away from each other’s arms. Even during the time they were a couple five years ago, they weren’t able to have a proper date. Most of the time they were at the office or at the fields doing their jobs. And
“God, please don’t let my father die,” Evina couldn’t fight the tears from streaming down like a waterfall in her face. She tried to wipe them off, only to be replaced by more tears. Her newly restored relationship with her father hasn't even reached a decade! She didn’t expect that something like this would happen to him.“He will be alright,” Gabriel grabbed her shivering hand and pressed them. His plum lips curled in a reassuring smile as he tried to ease the pain she was feeling inside.“Let’s go, please,” Evina stared out the window, hoping that time would fly and take them to where her father was right now. They weren’t able to finish the movie as Chairman Yang told her the bad news. Her father was in the hospital, and he needed a blood transfusion as soon as possible. They immediately went to the parking lot, so they could get out and go there at once.Gabriel was about
Evina felt her blood boil to its highest degree. She has already forgotten how it feels like to be this angry with someone. How could this man have his father’s watch? He also attacked her and Gabriel! She heard the man snickered as his chest heaved up and down. It was as if he was amused at her rampage.“You’re still as smart as ever, Evina. I am not surprised,” the attacker uttered behind his tortoiseshell.Evina’s eyes widened as her lips turned pallid white. How could he know her name? Was he after her, and not Gabriel? Her lips trembled as her hand reached for Gabriel. To her surprise, Gabriel pulled away from her.Her forehead scrunched as she thought about the sudden change in his affection. To her surprise, Gabriel walked to the attacker at breakneck speed and pinned him back to the car.“Who are you?” He growled as he forcefully removed his hood from his face. It was fas
Evina gulped, her throat went dry. Her heart seemed to stop beating as the world seemed to stop spinning.Gabriel and she were in the middle of a chaotic situation. She couldn’t believe what he just said. He confessed to everyone his desire to marry her!Somehow, that relieved her of the distress and humiliation that she was experiencing right now.The facial expressions of the surrounding people turned from scorn to feeling thrilled, hearing the confession of sincere love from a CEO to her longtime lover.Gabriel continued to rub her shoulders and gazed at her with all sincerity. “I’m not asking you to agree now. I just want you to know how I truly feel for you. For now, you focus on what you need to do. Go.”Evina nodded as she knew what he was talking about. They were still in the parking lot. Their real intention for being there was to rush to the hospital as soon as possible. Her father was wounded and needs
Evina’s heart pumped in a frenzy as she traversed the traffic to the hospital where her father was admitted. She still hasn’t moved on from the chaotic scene at the parking lot. To be honest, she didn’t want to leave Gabriel behind. Even with his position, he could still go to jail. The son of Chairman Ming was badly beaten by him. She has already put him in prison. Fortunately for her, the women that he abused spoke up. And there were also other people who helped them, including Gabriel’s connection. But she also has an idea that with his influence, he could easily get out and go on a rampage, if he didn’t serve his penance. She just wasn’t aware that he would attempt to murder her, her father, and Gabriel. Still, there was a much-pressing issue, greater than all these. And that’s the life and death situation of her father. She could have easily gone there if it wasn’t for Julian’s antics. Fortunately, the taxi came to
