DANIEL'S POV.

I was in my office, arranging some files when a surprise text message made my phone buzz. It was from Bianca. I made a mental note to block her after that.

Bianca: Hello handsome.

I sneered. What had suddenly come over her? I wished our last conversation would've been able to spell it out that I didn't give a damn about her or what she did. It was fun while it lasted.

Me: what is it Bianca?

I'd started sorting out some important files I needed when another message came. I was so pissed, I dumped the files and they got mixed up again. Shit.

Bianca: I'm sorry for my behaviour.

What the fuck was wrong with her? She couldn't possibly have been apologising just so we could get back together, could she?

Bianca: I hope we can meet soon and straighten things out.

Me: There's nothing to straighten out. We're over and I'm sorry for how I treated you.

I wasn't actually sorry, but I needed her to leave me the hell alone. Her name popped on the screen again and I groaned so loudly,

JESSICA'S POV.I'd been feeling stuffed and sick of Mr Snider's big ass house, so after I was done with my cleaning in the house, I made up my mind to take a trip. Check out the environment and maybe try to make some new friends. You never know where you could find someone that might be willing to help you out.I chose a black t-shirt and some form fitting jeans that were kind of faded, having Mr Snider's comment about my choice of dressing in mind. When I was sure I looked decent and approachable, I took my bag and ventured out.I walked around the busy streets, staring at job adverts and interesting places until my eyes landed on a park. My feet moved me towards it before I could even second guess going over there. I took a seat on a bench and was about to start munching on a sandwich I packed on my way when my eyes locked on a hungry looking cat at the corner of a tree in front of me.I always had a soft spot for animals and cats especially. Back in the orphanage I'd volunteered to

DANIEL'S POV.I finally got a call from home to come for dinner and although it was what I'd been wishing for, I felt uneasy as I drove to my parent's house. It was like I couldn't think of anything, but the possibility of me ruining things completely with my dad and ending up a useless broke puppet. As I parked into the garage, I tried to steady my heart by placing my hand over it and saying a prayer for everything to work out, like Mum used to do in the past. She used to tell me to do that whenever I felt scared or couldn't take my mind of something upsetting, and I used to laugh at her, saying it was nonsense. It actually helped me a bit as I did it now. I felt kind of relieved of the tension in my body.I rang the bell and Rita the maid opened it with a large smile on her face. She studied my appearance for a while before pulling me in for a bear hug and I hugged her back. Rita was like my second Mum back when I was younger, she'd been working with my family ever since I was a lit

DANIEL'S POV.The deal was officially sealed. I had to find a girl to pose as Melissa as soon as possible, the bad thing was whoever it was would've also had to be my wife. I still had no idea who it would be even two days later. After debating over it in my mind for several hours, I finally got the leading to approach Jessica. I took a quick shower, put on comfortable clothes and even used my favourite cologne. I wanted her to feel as comfortable as possible. It was when I got downstairs that I realised Jessica was still in her room despite it being nine in the morning. That was so unlike her, she usually got up by seven am prompt. She wasn't in the kitchen or any other room, but her bedroom lights were on when I got there.I took a deep breath before knocking. It took a second knock for her to open up the door and the look on her face had me worried. Her eyes were puffy and she had dark circles, like someone who was dealing with a whole lot of shit or maybe even doing drugs. I hoped

  • The CEO's Maid Wife   CHAPTER FOURTEEN

JESSICA'S POV.I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling fan as my mind kept replaying what Mr Snider had said. He'd offered me a once in a lifetime opportunity to come out of my poverty and I should've been jumping at it, but for some reason I couldn't. It was wrong no matter how much I tried to convince myself otherwise. The first problem was that I didn't like him even a little bit. He was a playboy and a jerk, and whether real or fake, I didn't want such a man for a husband. He would give me a lot of headache and maybe heartaches if he continued his womanising ways even after we were married. The second problem was, I didn't truly know him and his family. He might think they'd like me, but what if they wouldn't? What would he say when he finds out that I was a drug dealer and a crazy powerful asshole was now tracking my every move because of his money I stole? And the last problem was, I didn't like the idea of spending five or four years with a guy like him. I couldn't even imagin

JESSICA'S POV.How on earth was I supposed to explain to my boss that I was being harassed by a drug dealer at his balcony in his house? It seemed like everything was working to ruin my image with Mr Snider. First I was rude to him when we bumped into each other, then I stumbled forward and grabbed his junk, then I refused his marriage proposal, and now he was currently trying to negotiate with Jonathan to bail me out of his trouble."So I've made the transfer. You can leave now," Mr Snider held his phone up to Jonathan's face to show him the transaction receipt, all the while not looking at me. I couldn't tell if he was pissed at me or Jonathan. I had a feeling it was both of us.I really had no ideas how I should've felt about him paying the money for me. It was like on one hand I felt relieved like a bucket of ice was poured over my heated body, and then on the other it was like I was nervous about what he'll ask for in return. I didn't believe he'd pay a huge sum like that for me

DANIEL'S POV.I didn't understand why I still left the offer open for Jessica even after what I found out yesterday, and Schumann felt the same."And then she said yes?" Schumann questioned for the third time now. "I'm not trying to be a hater but don't you think that girl is suspicious?""No, I don't think so," Clara shook her head, with her red painted lips still still on the straw in her grape juice. Disgusting. "I spent some time chatting with her that day she came for the interview and she seemed very nice. I think she just got into the wrong hands because of poverty."We all decided to meet up to discuss on the Jessica issue and found this cocktail shop called, Fruitina. So here we all are, discussing the qualities of my future contract wife, Jessica Cooper. It's shocking right? You probably gasped, but Jessica had accepted my proposal on the first offer yesterday. It was like she'd gotten tired of fighting off whatever kept her from accepting it, and just decided to go for it.

  • The CEO's Maid Wife   CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

JESSICA'S POV.I watched from my bedroom window as Mr Snider drove into the house, wondering what I'd gotten myself into. When he'd given me the offer, my first thought was to accept it before he took it back and changed his mind. When I'd thought of it thoroughly, I'd understood that it would be best if I just agreed. I literally had nothing to lose from it and I had no one would question me about my decision except Julia who also had issues of her own. So I'd agreed and walked away from him feeling like shit. Mr Snider came out of the car and from what I could see he was pissed, really pissed as he stared at something on his phone's screen. I watched him type furiously on the phone, and then he literally took my breath away when he looked up to my window and we locked eyes. With my heart racing, I quickly bolted away from the window and plopped down on my bed, clutching my chest. What the hell was wrong with me? It was like ever since I'd agreed to the proposal, I'd started to see

DANIEL'S POV.I was sprawled on the couch watching a movie when I got a text from Bianca, saying she was outside and I groaned loudly. I really couldn't understand the problem of that woman. I called the gateman to let her in when she kept calling me and in two minutes she was ringing the doorbell.I couldn't find the strength to go out on a t-shirt so I went to open the door, begrudgingly. She strutted in after I pulled the door open, dressed in a deep green dress that was so sexy and revealing I had to pin my eyes away. This woman might be the death of me, I thought as I walked back to the living room."No greetings, Daniel?" She asked, feigning hurt by clutching her perfectly manicured hand to her chest. "I'm offended you aren't happy to see me.""I never said that. What do you want Bianca?"She took a seat on the couch opposite me and purposely crossed her tanned yummy looking legs. "I told you I had something to tell you about your maid and I think it's very important. I don't un

DANIEL'S POV.ONE YEAR LATER.I walked through the front door of our new cozy home, my heart brimming with excitement and anticipation. After the whole Lori incident, I'd come clean to Jessica about every single girl I'd played in the past, and because Jessica was so big hearted and understanding, she'd forgiven me, and we decided to bury all that in the past. Our journey to letting go of the past had started from getting a new home. Dad had arranged for a purchase for a new house immediately I'd told him abouy it. And though I felt like he was once again helping me out and treating me like a child—he'd explained that buying that house for us was his way of saying sorry for how bad of a father he'd been. After that day I'd come clean to him about the contract, he'd made it his everyday goal to show his remorse, and I didn't mind. I'd forgiven him already just as I'd forgiven myself for being such an asshole in the past. A smile graced my lips when my nostrils filled with the sweet aro

JESSICA'S POV.The road stretched out before us, illuminated by the soft glow of the streetlights. Daniel's grip tightened on the steering wheel as we made our way home from his parents' house. The meeting had been pleasant, filled with laughter and delicious home-cooked food. And then the feeling of being known as the real Jessica and still receiving love from them felt good. Suddenly, the shrill sound of my phone shattered the silence inside the car. Startled, I fumbled to retrieve it from my purse. The caller ID displayed an unfamiliar number, and a surge of anxiety coursed through my veins. I had learnt to be weary of calls from unknown numbers these days. "Who could this be?" I whispered, uncertain. Daniel shot me a worried glance, his brows furrowing in concern. I think he was scared it was the stalker too. "I don't know, but you should answer it. It might be important."Taking a deep breath, I swiped the screen and brought the phone to my ear. "Hello?"A voice on the othe

DANIEL'S POV. As the morning sun peeked through the curtains, I slowly opened my eyes, feeling a strong wave of contentment wash over me. I turned my head to the side and saw Jessica lying next to me, her tousled hair framing her beautiful face. Last night with her had been the best night of my life, an eye-opener to the beauty of the world of sex with an emotional partner, and not just some shitty hookup. A smile immediately spread across my lips as I remembered vividly all the events of last night. She had been unpredictable and amazing, everything I'd ever wanted in my dreams. "Hey," I whispered, my voice still husky from sleep. "Good morning, beautiful."Jessica stirred and opened her eyes, greeting me with a sleepy smile. "Good morning, handsome," she replied, her voice filled with warmth. "Last night was... amazing. I didn't know you had all that in you, I totally get the Daniel Snider hype now," she joked, laughing at her own humour. I chuckled softly, reaching out to brush

JESSICA'S POV.I tiptoed out of the bathroom, wrapped in a fluffy towel, steam still wafting in the air. My heart however, raced as I realized I wasn't alone. There, standing by the door, was Daniel, his eyes widening in surprise. I felt a blush creeping up my cheeks, making me acutely aware of my semi-nakedness. And then I let out a startled gasp that cut through the silence. I'm so sorry, Jessica,"he stammered, his voice laced with a mix of panic and regret. "I didn't mean to intrude. I was wondering if you weren't home, and ..." he trailed off like he didn't know just what to say next. My voice trembled as I hurriedly wrapped the towel securely around myself, still stuck in surprise. "Daniel, what are you doing here? Why didn't you at least try to announce your arrival?" "I... I didn't think anyone else was home," he managed to reply, with his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "I came back early, and I was worried when I found the house so quiet. I... I'm sorry, Jessica. • The CEO's Maid Wife   CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN

DANIEL'S POV.As I wrapped up another exhausting day at the office, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. The clock had seemingly ticked at a snail's pace, each minute passing by with an agonizing slowness. I yearned for the comfort of my humble abode, and talking to Jessica. But fate had other plans for me that evening.Just as I was about to shut down my computer and bid farewell to my colleagues, a faint ping emanated from my phone. I glanced at the screen to find a text message from Bianca. The name alone sent irritation down my spine, a reminder of the reckless past we shared. Her message was brief but desperate, pleading for a meeting at a nearby coffee shop. A mix of curiosity and caution filled my mind, and after much deliberation, I replied with a reserved agreement to be there. Now, behind the wheel of my car, my mind raced with questions. What could she possibly want from me after all this time? Was it another attempt to rekindle the flame that had long since burned out?

JESSICA'S POV.I watched Daniel as he buttoned up his crisp white shirt, his face showing focus and determination. He was about to head off to work, and I knew it was now or never to tell him my plans for the day."Daniel," I called out, catching his attention. He turned to me, his eyebrows raised inquisitively. "I just wanted to let you know that I'll be going out today to visit Julia."His expression shifted from curiosity to concern in an instant. I could see the worry lines etching deep into his forehead. He walked over to where I stood by the door, his steps deliberate and measured."Jessica, are you sure about this?" He asked, his tone tinged with worry. "You remember what happened the last time you went out alone. And I'm not sure it's safe for you to go with your leg still unstable." I nodded, memories of that fateful day flooding my mind. But I had healed considerably since then, though not completely. At least I could stand on my two feet and move around better than before.

  • The CEO's Maid Wife   CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE

DANIEL'S POV.The day after we'd arrived from the airport, Das had called me concerning work. "What's up Dad?" I'd asked while I ate the delicious sandwich Jessica had made for me before she went and locked herself in her room. I'd wanted to go after her and find out what the problem was, but I figured she was going through a lot and had a lot to think about, so maybe she'd needed that time to just rest and think all by herself."Daniel, my boy. How are you?" Dad greeted, cheerfully. " I heard that you just got back from your Mum. How was your flight?"I'd remembered how eye-opening and tensed it had been, and decided to lie instead. " It was great, but I'm tired. You know how me and flights are.""I'm sorry to hear that, son, because you have a lot of work on your plate. You're resuming tomorrow by the way," he said, his tone swiftly switching to business mode. A groan left my lips and I fisted another sandwich groggily into my mouth before saying, "I know Dad. But can I just get

JESSICA'S POV.As I looked up to the warm Hawaiian sun streaming through the windows, the realization hit me like a wave crashing on the shore. Today was the day Daniel and I had to pack up our things and leave this somewhat paradise behind. The bittersweet feeling hung heavy in the air as I glanced over at Daniel, who seemed lost in his own thoughts.Taking a deep breath, I made my way to the closet. It was as if the room itself reflected our somber mood, with clothes scattered on the floor and suitcases waiting to be filled. I tried to focus on the task at hand, folding my clothes neatly and placing them into my suitcase, but my mind wandered back to the memories we had created here. The sound of zippers being pulled closed filled the room as we moved in synchrony, our actions speaking louder than words. There was an unspoken agreement between us to keep our emotions in check, to not let them spill over and disrupt the process of leaving. We had to be strong for each other. The past

JESSICA'S POV.Whoever it is that wanted to kill me was going too far. It was like whoever it was that was doing this had one sole aim only, which was to harm me. The first time was a hit and run, and then Daniel had told me about the phone call he'd gotten that day, and then yesterday, the person had come directly to hurt me. I woke up that morning with a renewed sense of excitement. Today was the day I would get to finally leave this sterile hospital room that had been my home for far too long. Sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. I could hardly contain my joy as I glanced over at the man sitting in the armchair beside my bed, my contact husband, turned companion. He was was asleep with his mouth open, and though that was supposed to be gross, it looked so cute to me. He'd fallen asleep while watching a movie on his iPad, as he was waiting for me to get ready. Daniel had started off as a stranger, a jerk, a man I barely knew, but over the cou
