55. Common enemy or a tool

"I'm sorry, sir. I lost her. She just hopped on a bike. She deceived me. I'm really sorry, Mr. Wright--"

I hung up, sighing as I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to relieve myself and freshen up.

Today was supposed to be a day off and I always just spent the day with Rebecca since I could put a call across to her office to make sure she could skip a day or two.

I walked down the stairs heading to the kitchen to get a snack before pulling out my phone again to scroll down the familiar app.

The front door suddenly opened and Victor was walking in, white sleeves rolled up, tie crooked on his neck and his hair hanging from different sides.

I munched down on my cereal as he stormed closer with a document and he slammed it on the table.

"She's missing. Her phone is out of coverage. Whoever she's with turned it off and.. and..." His brows wrinkled as he glanced down at my plate. "You're eating cereal."
