OLIVER

Rebecca was tense for some minutes, raising my suspicions as I began to imagine the absolute worst.

An affair? Was she having an affair? That couldn't be possible! What time did she have for that? I always picked her up so early and made sure to keep my tabs on her. It wasn't because I didn't trust her, it was my grandfather I didn't trust but I still got a full report of her every day.

She never talked to anyone for anything longer than ten minutes, she was admired by other men- no doubt, she was beautiful, sexy and I knew every man in their right sense was ready to stretch their filthy hands towards her but Rebecca only ever had eyes for me and she made it clear.

"I want to know who he is, Rebecca," I demanded, my patience wearing thin.

Her face hardened as she made up her mind, "It's none of your business. It's not like I ask you about what you do with Anne-"

"I'm asking about you, not me," lunch dates, family events and every formal gathering. Our relationship was stri

OLIVER The next day, Rebecca didn't step outside for breakfast even after I had set the table. I made sure to cover up her food and put a note on it before leaving. The events of last night and how she backed away from me with the shock on her face was still fresh in my head. I knew if I had pressed-- I wouldn't have even needed to. She would melt at my feet and give in to anything I wanted to do with her body last night. I always found her attraction to me sexy and trusted in her body's honesty to continue to bring us closer. When she finds out the truth, would she still let me touch her or would she bolt to that detective guy and seek solace with him? I got into my car and Christopher said his greetings as he pulled out of the driveway to a destination I've always hated. "Send someone to get the CCTV footage at Rebecca's place and move her things back home. Be discreet." "Yes, Mr. Oliver." "Send the footage to Victor. He knows what to do with it." That detective just earned h

OLIVER My stomach churned with a tight ache as my vision blurred and the world seemed to spin. I shook my head every once in a while as the headache only intensified and the bile that threatened to push through my throat only grew stronger. Strong arm gripped me from the side with an arm around my waist for support. "What was it this time?" Victor asked with a grunt as if fed up from my actions. It was the damn cookie. The old man was too paranoid for his own good. "Have a seat," he grunted as he helped me seat while I clawed at my tie to get the tight thing off my neck. I felt like I was suffocating and the room was too hot. "Hurry," or might actually die from food poisoning after spilling out my guts. I tensed when I felt the sharp needle break into my arm and the cold contents shoot into my blood. The antidote would need a few minutes to work so I laid back on the couch in my office, trying to control my pants. "Shit! Jesus Christ, Oliver! You're not to taste a single thing f

OLIVER "I can't do it.” I strode across my office and took a painkiller from one of the drawers. Dwelling on the past would only bring about a headache. Call me a coward but I could never bring myself to tell Rebecca the truth of what happened that night and what happened to her parents. She would never forgive me. "Didn't you say you didn't want her forgiveness?" Victor poked at my wounds, ignoring my glare as I swallowed the pill and poured myself whiskey. "That's a bad combination-" he gave up when I drank it regardless. "It'd be easier if she remembers by herself," after all, I confessed to her the night before it all went down. The look of horror on her face still plagued my mind and when she walked away silently, I heard my heart break. I couldn't bring myself to relive that moment. Not now when she's suffered a great deal and now it felt as though she had to suffer again for her own wealth. The cars and the houses I put in her name were all bought with her father's laid fo

OLIVER "Rebecca!" I slammed my fist on the door again when I got no reply and my thoughts ran the craziest scenarios in my head. What if she jumped out the window or hung herself in retaliation? Shit! I never should've let her be by herself in the first place. My heart drummed in fear and panic as I continued to hit the door, attracting one of the bodyguards who had rushed up the stairs. "Get me something to break this with-" The door suddenly unlocked and it opened a bit where I could see her displeased face and deadpan eyes. "Jeez! Stop it, will you? I've been asleep all day." She sounded tired and although she looked the part, she had no idea the panic she just put me through. "Come out of there, right now!" I demanded. "No, I'm tired. I can't leave the house anyway so let me stay here--" "You haven't eaten anything all day. It's almost 1p.m. are you trying to kill yourself?" "I can't go out, I can't go to work, I can't live on my own. I can't do anything thanks to you an

OLIVER She takes some time to recover from the shock as if I had dropped a bomb and I used that time to move back and forth grabbing the onion from the counter and a knife. I chopped them as she remained frozen and once I placed the pot on the fire and poured the oil, I broke the silence. "A penny for your thoughts, love?" The frown that settled on her face was so sudden, I could swear it would give her a headache. "Is this how much you hate me?" She whispers with concern and I'm suddenly on alert. Didn't she hear what I said? I was offering her a job in my company as a- "Your grandfather already hates me for God-knows- what and you're planning on giving me a position in his company?" In your company, love. It's your company and while I'm in charge, yes I can do whatever the fuck I want with it untill I control the board and kick him out as fucking chairman. "It's not as bad as you think. We may send the man to an early grave but he's already halfway there anyway." Again, she

  • The CEO's Forever Pet   43. I'm not touching you

OLIVER Have I ever wondered what would happen once the five years was over and she learned the truth, maybe she pushed me away and I was in New York starting my life over? Yes. Did my thoughts wander to her starting a family with a man who truly loved her and wasn't clouded by guilt and maybe a child or two to keep her company? Yes. Did those thoughts ever sit well with me? Heck no! I even labelled the thoughts "my demon" and would rather blast loud music in my ears just to have something else to listen to than the consequences of my actions. As much as I claim not to deserve being by her side, her words are infuriating as I think of someone else possibly 'replacing'- "Take that back," I glared at her from across the table and she suddenly tensed up. "Rebecca!" "Don't scream at me!" And just like that, she was yelling back but my expression doesn't change nor do I move from my spot. She quieted down after a while, shifting uncomfortably on her seat. "Jeez, Oliver! Don't look at

OLIVER She ate in silence once I was done with her lunch and her stomach growled fiercely. "Don't ever starve yourself again," I warned but she ignored and simply stuffed her face with food. I pulled off the apron and sat next to her, watching her eat with a content smile on my face. She gulped down her food so fast, I pushed a cup of water her way. She accepted with narrowed eyes, still fuming in anger at me. Her hair fell over her shoulders when she leaned forward and I rubbed my fingers as I imagined helping her with it but she wouldn't want me touching her. It had taken a lot not to fuck her on the dinning table and spread her out like she lunch. "Stop staring at me," she grumbled. My phone rang in my pants and I took it out to see it was Victor. Did he finally get the document I needed? "What?" I turned the other way as I answered the phone. "I see…" well she wouldn't like to hear this but she brought it upon herself. REBECCA "So you two are back together?" Tania asked with a wince in her tone after we picked her up at her house. "Not exactly," no one else knew about the contract besides me, Oliver and now his grandfather who was suddenly trying to get rid of me. I still found that hard to believe and just wanted to take it that Oliver was trying to scare me into staying put. I mean, the man offered me a huge sum-- which I lost-- to leave his son. Sure, I wasn't gone yet but he didn't exactly tell me when to leave. "I'm done with him, he won't just let me go." "Well damn, Rebecca. You've scored yourself one obsessed man. If he wasn't a billionaire, things would have been easy but he's so rich, he can find you anywhere you go," she spelled out my problems so quickly. "I heard you re-signed." "There's no need to work when I can't go out-" she grabbed my hands, giving me a little squeeze. "Why don't you..." She glanced at the bodyguard who was driving and lowered her voice. "Police." It was a few minutes past 6pm. and I had to rush to the grocery store to get groceries for dinner. Mom already sent me a list of things she would need.My phone rang and I quickly picked it up, "Hey, Tania.""Hey, girl. How are you doing?""I'm alright. Just waiting for Victor to show up so I can get home and get some sleep.""That assistant guy? What's he doing over there?" she wondered."He's here on a business trip and he's supposed to give me some documents to sign. Some kind of shares split." Oliver had a big part of Arthur's and my father's share and now he was transferring it back.Well… some."You're splitting it?""He is the adopted son of Arthur and should have Arthur's share.""Didn't they both decide to give it to you?""That was before Oliver came into the picture. REBECCA:FEW MONTHS LATERI grabbed my coat off the hanger by the side of the door and threw it on, wore my boots and grabbed my bag pack. Gently and quietly, I tried to open the door-"Rebecca Hoffman, you come back here, right now!" my mother screamed from behind me and I yelped, turned around with a racing heart to find her glaring at me. She was still in her pyjamas and had on her hair net."Jesus, Mom! It's 8am. and we have neighbours," I tried to remind her but she only stormed towards me with her face in a pout and grabbed my hands."You're not leaving without breakfast, now sit!" She pulled me to a stool in the kitchen and she took out some pots."I'm going to run late," I whined. "I have class in about an hour and that professor is as strict as they come.""I'll come beat him up if you want."I rolled my eyes as she tried to make something simple and light while I drummed my fingers on the table. REBECCA"Is that why your mother is heavily guarded?" I wondered, making sense of it now as I took a step closer to him. "You've been associated with him. Not after what I've heard so clearly."I didn't…" he trailed off. "I didn’t use you… in the beginning, yes, I approached you because I was-""Oh my God!" I gasped and sobbed as the tears spilled over."But that was until I got to know you-""Yadda, yadda, yadda," Richard dismissed. "It's the same damn thing. You used her because she was close to Oliver and wanted to get closer to me. Well congratulations, it worked. You must be pleased with yourself now.""You know, the cops are fortunate to have you. REBECCAI stared at Theo in shock as the old man looked beyond pleased staring at him. Betrayed yet again? By everyone surrounding my life. I was betrayed by the one I thought would have my back."Why…?" I trailed off. I couldn't even cry or feel sorry for myself this time. "I trusted you-""You trust the wrong people," the old man said. "I tried to extend a genuine hand to help you but what did you do? You decided to bite a good hand. How does it taste now?" he glared at me but still had that look of triumph because he was clearly enjoying himself and his victory.I failed.Right at the edge of a breakthrough… I… "Why?" I screamed at him and Sophia gasped. I was immediately reminded that the two were still here and now they clung to each other as they trembled in fear."I can't believe I missed this spot," he sighed. "I searched for years and years for this yet you two idiots had this lying under your shop? Do you know what these are!" he screamed at them, instilling more fear and th

REBECCAMy father sure made a fool out of these people for fifteen whole years."Are you sure we're in the right place?" Theo asked again, refusing to believe his eyes and I looked at the picture my mother had confirmed."Yes," it was a coffee shop facing the Wright Company. How interesting was it that they all passed the place every day for fifteen years yet not one of them thought to come here to check."Wow. Okay. Let’s go in and order coffee? Or how does this work?" I looked at the key again and all that was on it was just numbers. "I guess we'll have to go in and find out." I opened the door and stepped out.We walked in together, and we walked right onto the front. The young woman behind the counter smiled, "Hello-" her eyes widened in realisation when she saw me but she was nice enough to shut her mouth and go straight to business. "What would you like to order?""Can I see the manager please?"She arched her brows, "Uhm… may I know why? Do you have a complaint? You can relay

REBECCA"Are you sure?" Theo asked over the phone and I shut the door and turned in the lock."Positive. I heard her discussing with Oliver while I was at his place then saw her pick it up from the ground."How could she have kept something like that away from me? She knew how much I was worried about her. I wanted to leave this damn country and the only reason we stayed back was because of her.I felt betrayed and this one hurt more than anything."Calm down. You're breathing too hard.""I can't help it. She betrayed me-""I'm sure she has her reasons. She wouldn't do that to you-"I tried to tell myself that but it sounded like a big fat lie and I didn’t want to delude myself. How could she trust Oliver more than me, her own daughter? After everything…"I'm gonna steal it," I whispered."What?""I need to know what's in that warehouse and I can't trust the fucking police. REBECCAFrom the front door as I walked into the house to the living room where we used to watch movies and have little date nights, tears filled my eyes as I looked around. I trailed my fingers over the counter top in the kitchen and memories of when he once made my mother's favourite soup waltzed back in my head and I couldn't stop the tears from rolling down. This used to be a home once.Oliver and I were so comfortable around each other that we felt married. Or at least, I had felt that way. Clearly it was a delusion but it was everything to me at one point.I loved waking up to Saturday mornings where he would cook breakfast while I watched sometimes or he served me in bed. Where we both decorated with our favourite colours blending into something beautiful.Oh, I had dreams and he had orchestrated every single one of them. Whether he truly loved me or not, I would never know. Not like I even wanted to anymore. I was calling it quits.I climbed the stairs, remembering how he once

REBECCA I've been bedridden for a few days. I took the rest of my exams online with a supervisor assigned to me. It went smoothly despite the chaos of a few days but I didn't want anything to weigh me down.If I wasn't reading, I caught myself staring into space, thinking of my child and how he managed to survive.“I guess this one is really stubborn, isn't he?” I thought to myself. Just like his damn daddy. At least that was one way to know the baby was Oliver's.Despite seeing my condition, he still kept his mouth shut. Most nights I woke up from a nightmare, screaming the house down. It was always the same scene, only this time instead of the strange man who stabbed me, it was Oliver's grandfather while I watched Oliver stand at a distance with either his sealed or he rendered endless apologies instead.I was sick of hearing him apologise. I was tired of it. It burned in my memory and now whenever I thought about him, it was always about him saying sorry.Funny how he used to do f

OLIVER I was sent with a mission; to poison the Hoffman's down to their little girl. The old man was heartless but what did I care, it was a chance to be accepted and not to be thrown out to the streets once more. But that night, I picked up all my stuff and chose to run away for their own safety.I'd go to a river somewhere and drown because returning to the orphanage would only put the other kids in trouble and I didn't want to cause more trouble for anyone.A black van pulled up to me and I wasn't surprised to see my father's men. One of them grabbed me before I could bolt.“Pay up,” they said, one to the other. “I told you he couldn't do it.”“Look at him. He's a desperate little thing with no guts. You can't live a good life by being weak, you imbecile!” they smacked my head and tossed me about, laughing as they had fun.“I'll call them that I have the boy,” one of them said and took out his phone-“No!” I tried to reach for it but I was knocked down before I even knew what hit
