Taking note of the empty drinking glass, Mr. Newman guessed she was hiding something. “Do you know her? Your reaction is suspicious,” he said honestly. Zora pursed her lips, forcing herself to breathe down her anger.
“Yes, but I can’t tell you the details.”
Mr. Newman smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes as he spoke to her with the same honesty he began with.
