“Dad, where are the maids? Let’s sit,” Michelle tried to ease the tension in the atmosphere as her mother called for the maids.

“Bring some fruit juice.”

Nobody spoke until the drinks were served. Leonard's gaze on Ezrah made him so uncomfortable that he could not take a sip and dropped the glass.

“Mr. Adams, I know that I hurt your daughter deeply, but all I need is the chance to make it up to her.”

A sarcastic chuckle escaped Leonard. “Make it up to her,” he repeated the words as if it were the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard.

“How are you going to do that?”

Ezra was about to answer when he added, “She already has everything now, so she’s very good for your image.”

Now Ezrah was getting upset. Though he found Michelle to be a threat in the beginning, he felt rather peaceful upon signing the marriage certificate.
