Jasmin told Cainan she wanted to visit a local restaurant where she could find what she was craving and he didn't argue with her and instead asked if she knew where she wanted to get it. She nodded and showed him the direction and he obediently drove them there and once they sat; she ordered the bean cake, bread and pap which she wanted earlier and couldn't get. It was a heavy meal to consume, considering it was already late, but she couldn't help it. She was hungry, and this was what she craved.
"Shall we begin while your order is on the way?" Cainan asked, and Jasmin wordlessly nodded before setting the document down on the table and opening it up.
She stared at the words and she realised the words were blurry and she couldn't see them. She looked away from the document and up at him and she tried again, staring at the document and just like the spaghetti can as well as a few other little things she had tried focusing too much on, she
Another update, what are your thoughts? Cainan and Jasmin are on agreement level and I like that Jasmin isn't like my other characters, she's wild and funny and unapologetic. It was fun writing the questions and answer section šš Your comments are the fuel to my writing spirit so keep them coming ā¤ļø
Jasmin called in sick the next day after getting a message from Cainan, informing her he would come to pick her up for the optical checkup, fitness test and, last, to check out some apartment. She had had a hard time sleeping after she got home last night and it wasn't because of the need to digest the somewhat heavy dinner she had eaten at the restaurant but from the thoughts of the day. She couldn't help worrying about the medical fitness test in particular and she knew particular, her pregnancy would not remain a secret for much longer. There was no pride in hiding her pregnancy. It just happened. She always thought she would have her partner around her when pregnant, but that wasn't the case she was in. She didn't lie to him. He didn't believe she was pregnant and ticked the 'no' box and that was completely on him and no one else. She wasn't contemplating ending the pregnancy either; it was a new leaf for
They visited the optical clinic just like Cainan had promised and after close examination and testing; the optician stated she was suffering from partial night blindness and also confirmed what Cainan had said yesterday about the blindness being partial. He provided various options for the correction of her eyesight, which included the use of corrective lenses such as glasses and contact lens. Though the contact lenses looked good and simple, she found out she was allergic to them after trying them on and became left with the only other option but to pick glasses. She didnāt like the idea of having the glasses on, and she was a little furious that Cainan had made it into a big deal. āSo which did you go with, the glasses or the contact lens?ā Cainan asked as Jasmine walked out of the testing room to meet him. āI was allergic to the contact lenses and I donāt want to wear glasses, but what choice do I have?ā She grumbled. āIām already co
After the test, they received information that the result would be out in two weeks before they left. Cainan drove her back to her residence, but neither of them made haste to get down from the car. "You should rest and we will get another time to find you the apartment." He finally spoke again. She flashed him a small smile. "I will do that, thanks. I just hope you can still meet with your friend and whatever is happening isn't something bad." His eyes flickered, and he shook his head, "You're welcome and hopefully it isn't." "Good." she opened the door and got down. She closed the door and leaned on the window. "Thanks for these," she said, pointing to the glasses she had on. "They have helped reduce the little headaches I thought were normal before and I see much better now so I will try to hate them less than I do." it was the closest she was going to get to a prope
Cainan stopped his car at Neriah, his late wifeās graveyard, and he got down after picking the rose flowers he bought on his way over. He saw Segun, the new graveyard watchman, sitting under the oak tree, reading the newspaper in his hand āGood evening, Segun.ā There was a smile on his wrinkled face as he stared at Cainan, āGood evening, Mr Inferno, welcome.ā āThank you,ā he said and headed off. That was their usual greeting and some days they would take it up a bit and ask about each otherās family, but that wasnāt today. He made his way over to Neriahās graveyard and took a seat beside it, dropping the flower he brought along on its head. It was three years and five weeks since he had lost her and it still felt like yesterday. His heart still wrenched the same way it did when the doctors declared her dead and his eyes still grew glassy at their last moment and every fibre of his body longed to turn back the
A week later. Things got crazy after the night she saw herself on TV three weeks ago. She got swamped with reporters the next morning that she couldn't get to work when she wanted to. This made her call Cainan and tell him what was happening, and he told her to remain calm. Not long after; he arrived at her house with a few police officers with him. The police made the reporters leave, and he threatened to sue any site that he saw with even a picture of him and Jasmin on. Jasmin got to learn that Cainan, who had been happy-go, friendly and easy-going, also had a bad temper when pushed. Despite not knowing if that was a good thing or bad, she knew better not to cross it. He came in and asked her if she was okay, and when she nodded; he pulled her into a tight hug and sighed in relief. Then he told her he would get her a new place in a new neighbourhood before the end of that day.
Bathing took thirty minutes of her time as she took the time to scrub every inch of her body while she sat in the bathtub. The apartment, unlike her last, had a shower and bathtub and she had two-bedroom although she only used one, a large dining room and an impressive living room. It had a fire escape where she could sit and stare at the beautiful city at night and she knew it had cost Cainan a lot to get it, but he refused to disclose to her how much and she couldnāt force him anymore than she had. She stepped out of the bathtub and picked up her white towel and wrapped it around her body before moving to the stall where the standing mirror was and she stared at herself in it, holding onto the towel. There was not much difference in her looks, except for the few pounds which she had added in the last three weeks. Her stomach slightly protruded, but not obvious, and it was only a matter of weeks before it would start showing. Sh
Twenty-five minutes later and Jasmin walked out of the bedroom in the polka-dot dress and the three inches, black, open toe heel her and red hair she let fall over her shoulder, giving her both enchanting and innocent look. She tried on a few items in the makeup kit Cainan had gotten for her, which were lipstick, powder and mascara. She wanted to look good for him, even when she didnāt think she should. Her eyes travelled to Cainan, who was standing in the room staring down at his phone and whatever was on it was important enough to make him not note her. He hadnāt changed from his clothes, but he looked delicious and after what happened earlier, her body cried for him to take control. She shook the thoughts out of her head and she cleared her throat and his head snapped up. His eyes grew wide in admiration and he slipped his phone into his pocket before stepping forward towards her. She hadnāt had someone stare so fondly at her before,
With his hand on the small of her back, he led her into the dining room where four unfamiliar faces sat waiting for them. There was an older woman at the left corner of the dining table sharing facial similarities with Cainan and the two young ladies at the right and the young man sitting close to the chair where Donald just took, the siblings sharing a similar look with their father. On seeing them, Ada got up and walked over to them, kissing her sonās forehead when she was close enough. āIām so glad you made it, Cainan.ā She cheered. āI had to. Iām trying to be a better son, remember?ā He said with a smile that didnāt reach his eyes. She nodded and stroked his cheek before turning to look at Jasmin. Her brown eyes twitched and warmed up, and before Jasmin could utter a polite greeting, she wrapped her arms around her. āWe didnāt come to hug, we came to eat,ā Cainan grumbled aloud and the two women pulled away with Ada
A few days later, Jasmin was holding onto a bunch of lily flowers and she wore a long silver gown that littered with every move she made. Lisa told her it was going to give her the best look two days ago, and she believed. Cainan was in a black tux and red bow tie and sat in his wheelchair, awaiting her arrival at the altar. He was taking Rogueās advice and also grooming a beard and a few stubbles were on his face. Jasmin told Cainan she wanted to be married to him a few days ago at the hospital and despite being confined in bed, Cainan moved to plan for the wedding, which would be a small one with only family and friends. After they released him from the hospital, the doctor gave strict instructions that he made use of the wheelchair to help heal and restore him to his full strength before walking and so he had done in these past days while planning the wedding. Coming out to Ada abou
The stillness within and without was the first thing Cainan took notice of as he regained consciousness and soon after, his lashes lifted and he beheld a blurry shadow pacing around not so far away. What a very weird dream he had had, being chased around with Jasmin and then shot and stabbed. He made out the white painted walls, ceiling and blue curtains hanging on the window through his dimmed vision and his head did a mental recall of the event that might have led to this, but came up short. The clearer his vision became, the harder his head ached, and he shut his eyes as the pain in his head grew worse. āShit!ā he cussed and groaned loudly. How the hell did he end up here? āCainan,ā he heard Adaās voice snapping him out of his thoughts, and a moment later she took his hand in hers. āOh, thank goodness youāre finally awake.ā She breathed in relief and took her seat
A store with dimmed lights was at the corner off the road and, as soon as Jasmin saw it, she raced there, hoping they would still be open. She barely took her first step when someone suddenly grabbed her hand. Her heartbeat raced, and she panicked, trying to wiggle away. “Jazz, Jazz, it’s me.”Her heartbeat decreased and relief watched over her at the voice of Cainan and she threw her arms around him before she thought of anything else. She pulled away, overwhelmed with happiness and surprise at the sight of him. “How did you find out?” her eyes narrowed.Relief and happiness filled his eyes at her sight. “I knew you loved me and the last thing you would do is hurt me intentionally. I knew there was more to it and though heartbroken, I had to wait around and make sure you were okay. Thank God I did.”“He knows about the baby,” she said, overcome with fear, &l
Dennis dragged Jasmin out of the house and into her car before forcing her to drive them away from the house. They drove past a few security points and each time, Jasmin played it cool and smiled her way through each line of questioning they had for her. She obeyed Dennis and did nothing that would spook suspicion for the safety of her unborn child even though she couldnāt imagine going back to the nightmare of a life she once had, filled with fear, abuse, and pain. āWhere are the rest of the team?ā she asked, a little curious as they left the last checkpoint. Dennis did nothing without his team, which comprised three other wealth exchangers, and Jasmin sensed something was up with their absence. āDead.ā He flatly replied, his eyes on the road. āI lost them a few days ago, during a heist.ā Her eyes dropped. āIām sorry.ā She mumbled quietly, but she was not surprised. The life they lived was a dangerous one, which was why she wanted to leav
"Stop!" she exclaimed in panic, holding her trembling hands up in surrender and her heart slammed away in her chest in fear. "I will do what you want, just don't hurt her." Her eyes blurred up and her lips quivered. She knew better than to call bluff on his threats. He halted and uncocked the gun before turning to meet her glassy, and now desperate, eyes. And what he saw pleased him. "That's my girl, so obedient." he cooed. "Your good heart never leads you astray. Now bring out your phone and call your lover boy. You need to make sure that your words are believable because Lisa isn't out of the woods yet." Afraid, angry and defeated, she pulled out her phone from her purse on the couch and dialled Cainan's number. After the third dial, with no answer from Cainan, she lowered the phone from her ear, mumbling. "He's not answering, usually he answers..." The words were barely out of her mouth when the doorbell went
Her heart hammered against her chest in fear and terror as she stood, unable to move in the first few minutes that passed. He was her past; he was also her nightmare and now he was her reality.Lisa lived in a very secure neighbourhood and breaking in rarely happened. Somehow, Dennis, an intruder, had found his way in and now sat on Lisa's adjustable chair at the corner of the living room in black hood and trousers, and an evil smirk at the side of his lips like he owned the place.A million questions ran through Jasmin's head as she speechlessly stared at him. What did he want? How did he find her?Where's Lisa? What did he do to her?Despite the question running through her head, all she could utter became his name."Dennis."He puffed the rest of the smoke into the air. "Oh, good, you still remember my name." he casually stated as if it hadn't been over nine months since they last saw each oth
Jasmin stayed in the restroom for a few minutes and so much had already happened in her absence. She didnāt mind that he worked with Vanessa. Being a big girl meant not crying, not throwing tantrums, and lastly, not jumping to conclusions. What she didnāt understand was why they had to be so fond of each other. Cainan reached for her hands and affectionately took them into his. He said something that made Vanessaās eyes widen and disbelief spread across her face. She threw her arms around Cainan and hugged him tightly before pulling away, the wide smile still on her face. Jasminās eyes blurred up, and she grew sick in her stomach. She wanted to leave. She needed to leave now. She blinked back the tears from her eyes and with all the composure she possessed; she made her way over towards him, dragging her leg with her, and soon she was beside the two happy couple. āEasy, Jasmin, remember things are not always what they seem, take the advice you
Jasmin and Cainan were invited on a double date with Alex and Rogueās at the Pearl lounge and though reluctant at first about going, Cainan back her against the wall literally and she had no other choice but to scream yes. She had stopped going to the restaurant because, according to Cainanās calculations, this was her delivery week and she needed not to stress herself. He always made an interesting argument with his mouth. She needed this, though; she had stayed home in the last two days and despite almost always being connected with Anita and Andrew to keep up with progress; yet she was running crazy. Meeting Alex and Rogue was a breath of fresh air. They were a pair, madly I love with each other and barely able to keep their eyes off each other. Their son Rayge was sixteen months old, and he was being watched by Gloria, his nanny so that they could have time for themselves. Alex shared the beauty of being a mother, and also the pain. They encourage
Jasmin noticed Anita was taking a longer time than usual in getting the end of the month’s account files over to her office and tiring of waiting, she made her way to her office, which was the next office after hers. The door to her office was unlocked, and she pushed further and entered the office, but slowed down on her step when she heard whimpers coming from the corner of the bathroom. She tried waiting out the whimpers but after a minute and Anita not coming out; she headed over to the bathroom and carefully opened it.The sight she saw was heartbreaking. Anita was sitting on the covered toilet with her head buried in her palms and she was sobbing into it. It was a shocking sight to Jasmin because she had known Anita for so long but had never seen her broken, sad or even upset. The highest emotion she had seen her display was anger, which happened once in a while. Anita was always happy and positive, and she feared what might have changed
