Cainan and Daniel took the Toyota Tacoma Pickup and headed to the Christmas tree shop. Cainan had never been on a Christmas tree shopping in Egypt before, so Daniel drove the car. It was a twenty minutes’ drive to the shop and most of the time they spent in silence.

Daniel had a reason for shopping for a Christmas tree on the twenty-third of December. Donald and Daniel always shopped for their Christmas trees on the twenty-third and Daniel never understood why and so when he got the chance to go alone, he went on the twenty-fourth, ignoring Donald’s instructions to go a day before. He ended up spending over six hours waiting and then paying double the normal price just to get a tree home to the awaiting family. He had learnt his lesson ever since.

Standing around in the store and there were over a dozen Christmas trees was a wide option to pick from. There was a high probability that there was going to be four times the number of cu

“He said six hundred Egyptian pounds.” Daniel’s voice drew him out of his thoughts. Cainan dragged his gaze over to Daniel, who was standing with a puzzled look, “Is that less or more?” He gave a mild shrug. “I wouldn’t know. I’ve never gotten that size before.” “Then why are you having that look on your face?” “Because you seem bothered and I know you’re going to say you’re fine, but I’m here if you need to talk. We are brothers, after all.” Cainan almost scoffed. If he wanted to talk to anyone about what or who was on his mind (Jasmin), certainly it would not be Daniel because the last time he checked, he wanted her as well. He gave him a half-smile. “I will remember, thanks, buddy. Have you paid then?” Cainan changed the subject with his brow rising. “Yes. They are helping to load the tree in the car trunk, but I got Christmas ornaments and decorations.” He stated, lifting the shopping bags in his hand

When Cainan got back from the store with Daniel, he wanted to pick up where he had left off with Jasmin, but she had other ideas, and she asked if he had ever spanked any of his previous sexual partners before. Cainan of course was new to the whole idea, once or twice he had heard Laré go on about how Rogue had a thing for whips, ropes and spanking and he never put much mind to it, but when Jasmin suggested it to him last night, he couldn’t say no. He obliged, and they had an intense make-out section, getting rid of almost all her clothes and when they pulled apart, their need for each other was already at an insane level. She then moved to get down on all fours before him and told him to hit her butt. Her request and hesitation took him aback. The last thing he wanted to do was hit her. That would cause her pain, which was not what he wanted, especially in her condition but it seemed the only one concern about that was him. “Go on, I want you

“Good morning, Jasmin,” Ada smile was as charming as ever, holding onto a white tray that had white ceramic plates and cups in it and she was making her way over to the dining table to set it down. “Good morning, Ada.” she dropped from the last step of the stairs and approached her, “Anything I can help you with?” her eyes eager to help. She smiled at her, but shook her head. “No, breakfast is already set, the maids are helping with the rest of it.” as she spoke, two of the maids in the kitchen stepped out, holding trays of fried plantain and egg sauce and it already smelt delicious. Ada’s eyes darted behind her as if looking for something, and soon after, they returned to Jasmin. “Where is Cainan?” “Taking his bath,” she recalled hearing the shower being turned on as she made her way out of the room moments ago. Something made Ada narrow her eyes, but she didn’t get the chance to say it as they heard footsteps descending the stairs

The date set at The Blue Restaurant & Grill, where Cainan had made reservations for them. He had called it a surprise earlier because he knew Jasmin was still not going to know the place, even if he had told her. It was best to bring her over himself. He had left her to use their room after he got dressed in a sky-blue, long sleeve polo and black trousers and gave her only thirty minutes to be done with getting ready. When she finally stepped out of the bedroom at six thirty p.m., he was dumbstruck at the image of her before him. She was in a red cocktail dress, a navy blue reefer jacket on top of it and a pair of the red three-inch, peel-toe heels. Her shiny red hair was in a neat bun and they could see a touch of makeup on her face and she topped it off with red lipstick. It took all Cainan's strength to not reach for her and kiss her. Ada and Lisa were downstairs with Cainan, and on seeing Jasmin, they dramatically gushed over her o

***Flashback Dennis pushed open the door and entered the room before slamming it shut. Jasmin was in the kitchen trying her hand on how to make cookies, she ran out at the loud slam of the door and she saw Dennis who was in a faded, baggy Jean trousers, black singlet and a hood over his head, holding onto a gun in his hand and his eyes blazing with anger. She slowed down at the sight of him trying to discern the proper cause of action. “How did today go?” She asked, not crazy enough to move towards him while he’s holding a loaded gun. “How the fuck did you think it went?” he cussed out at her, casting her a glare. He was always fond of tossing her out. She jumped a little, “Bad then, I’m sorry, Dennis, maybe today isn’t really the day to clean out.” She took a careful step towards him. “you can always try again. Come, I made cookies today.” He didn’t look pleased; he didn’t even look cheered with her words. Instead, his

Together stepped out of the restaurant, into the street and towards the park where their car parked, their hands entwined in each other’s and each step was a slow and steady process. The chilly wind of the night blew, and Jasmin felt chills even in her reefer jacket. She’s still not accustomed to the weather. The chilly night didn’t affect Cainan, and if it did, he did little to show it. As they approached the park, they saw a few young boys around eight to ten years of age running around, playing with snowballs and throwing them at each other. One of the little boys threw a snowball at another, but his aim was higher and it flew past him, smashing against Jasmin’s face and the surprise sent her off her feet. With her eyes closed, she gave herself three seconds for her body to hit the cold ground, but gravity stood still even after three seconds passed. She finally cracked an eye open and through her snowed covered glass, sh

Cainan grunted as he stepped into the bedroom and shut the door. “I’m so sick of the Abayomis and their never-ending Christmas tradition! Sucks that my mother has also joined their madness.” Jasmin was certain that his outburst was for not being able to spend the evening in bed with his laptop and her beside him, as he had planned. He wasn’t so inclined to the recent change of plans, and it was obvious. She chuckled, “It might be more exciting than you expect.” She tried to cheer him on. He growled dramatically, “You’re the only reason it’s fun.” “Aww, I’m flattered. We should do as Ada said, shower and go downstairs,” she said as she hung the reefer jacket on the hanger close to the door, tossed her purse onto the bed and, upon settling into it, she pulled off her shoes. She undid her hair from the bun it was in and it fell over her shoulder before rising to her feet. Cainan came up behind her and wrapped his warm arms

Cainan woke Jasmin up at the early hours of the morning with a soft “Merry Christmas, sweetheart” in her ears before kissing her neck. They had gone to bed at almost midnight last night and so her eyes stung as she peeled them open at his words and when she asked him what time it was; he replied four a.m. She shifted around to face him with her eyes dimmed and she cupped his face in her hands, asking him why he was even awake. He told her he had woken up to ease himself and lost his sleep afterwards and when she inquired if he wanted to be cuddled, he eagerly nodded. She wrapped her small arms around him, and kissed his hair, mumbling “Merry Christmas, Cainan,” to him in return and not so long after, her eyes closed. When they opened again, it was seven a.m. and Cainan was already awake. She asked if he had any sleep and he said yes, adding that her arms around him helped a lot and thanked her with a kiss on her forehe

A few days later, Jasmin was holding onto a bunch of lily flowers and she wore a long silver gown that littered with every move she made. Lisa told her it was going to give her the best look two days ago, and she believed. Cainan was in a black tux and red bow tie and sat in his wheelchair, awaiting her arrival at the altar. He was taking Rogue’s advice and also grooming a beard and a few stubbles were on his face. Jasmin told Cainan she wanted to be married to him a few days ago at the hospital and despite being confined in bed, Cainan moved to plan for the wedding, which would be a small one with only family and friends. After they released him from the hospital, the doctor gave strict instructions that he made use of the wheelchair to help heal and restore him to his full strength before walking and so he had done in these past days while planning the wedding. Coming out to Ada abou

The stillness within and without was the first thing Cainan took notice of as he regained consciousness and soon after, his lashes lifted and he beheld a blurry shadow pacing around not so far away. What a very weird dream he had had, being chased around with Jasmin and then shot and stabbed. He made out the white painted walls, ceiling and blue curtains hanging on the window through his dimmed vision and his head did a mental recall of the event that might have led to this, but came up short. The clearer his vision became, the harder his head ached, and he shut his eyes as the pain in his head grew worse. “Shit!” he cussed and groaned loudly. How the hell did he end up here? “Cainan,” he heard Ada’s voice snapping him out of his thoughts, and a moment later she took his hand in hers. “Oh, thank goodness you’re finally awake.” She breathed in relief and took her seat

Dennis dragged Jasmin out of the house and into her car before forcing her to drive them away from the house. They drove past a few security points and each time, Jasmin played it cool and smiled her way through each line of questioning they had for her. She obeyed Dennis and did nothing that would spook suspicion for the safety of her unborn child even though she couldn’t imagine going back to the nightmare of a life she once had, filled with fear, abuse, and pain. “Where are the rest of the team?” she asked, a little curious as they left the last checkpoint. Dennis did nothing without his team, which comprised three other wealth exchangers, and Jasmin sensed something was up with their absence. “Dead.” He flatly replied, his eyes on the road. “I lost them a few days ago, during a heist.” Her eyes dropped. “I’m sorry.” She mumbled quietly, but she was not surprised. The life they lived was a dangerous one, which was why she wanted to leav

And what he saw pleased him. "That's my girl, so obedient." he cooed. "Your good heart never leads you astray. Now bring out your phone and call your lover boy. You need to make sure that your words are believable because Lisa isn't out of the woods yet." Afraid, angry and defeated, she pulled out her phone from her purse on the couch and dialled Cainan's number. After the third dial, with no answer from Cainan, she lowered the phone from her ear, mumbling. "He's not answering, usually he answers..." The words were barely out of her mouth when the doorbell went

Jasmin stayed in the restroom for a few minutes and so much had already happened in her absence. She didn’t mind that he worked with Vanessa. Being a big girl meant not crying, not throwing tantrums, and lastly, not jumping to conclusions. What she didn’t understand was why they had to be so fond of each other. Cainan reached for her hands and affectionately took them into his. He said something that made Vanessa’s eyes widen and disbelief spread across her face. She threw her arms around Cainan and hugged him tightly before pulling away, the wide smile still on her face. Jasmin’s eyes blurred up, and she grew sick in her stomach. She wanted to leave. She needed to leave now.
