Daniel’s POV
“What? You divorced your wife?” Came from Damien Millers, my best friend. He was shocked. I gave Damien a side-eye look that made him quickly reduce his voice. “Keep it low, guy; Nancy is here!” We looked around to see if Nancy wasn't coming because she had gone to use the toilet as soon as we entered the club. I gulped down a glass of hard liquor as the waiter brought the glasses and filled it up. Nancy and I went straight to the club as soon as we were done with her parents. I had called Damien to meet me up at our usual spot earlier, and I didn't think that Nancy would follow me. Damien and I are best friends; our fathers were also friends before my father died, so we have literally done everything together since childhood, and he knows everything about me. “I can't believe you, Daniel. How can you be this reckless?” “What do you mean? I married Camilla because I wanted a child for my sick mother; she would have died without ever seeing her grandchild if not for an unexpected miracle that happened. So I don't want to waste the miracle that she's still alive.” Damien shook his head, staring at me with concern on his face. “So, you divorced her only because of that?” “Why not? Nancy is healthy and I still love Nancy!” “I love you too, darling,” Nancy said as she appeared behind us. “Are you sure about it?” Damien asked again; he doesn't give a fuck about Nancy because he doesn't like her, and he doesn't hide it. But I gave him another side look that made him stop questioning me. We filled out glasses and shifted our conversations to business talks. “I will follow you home, Dan!” Nancy said as soon as we got into the car. “No, babe! It's not time for that! I want to marry you in a big way, so wait for me.” I answered firmly. It was Camilla’s last day at the mansion and I want her to enjoy her last day out of my guilt. I felt guilty earlier when Mr. Albrecht disowned her and I wanted to make it up to her just for tonight. I instructed Roland, my driver, to drop Nancy off at her father's house before we returned to my mansion. I was slightly intoxicated when I returned back home but I still knew what was happening around me. When I opened the door, I expected Camilla to be sitting on the couch, waiting for me like she usually does, but the house was empty. Something about the silence made me feel uncomfortable. “Camilla,” I shouted, my voice echoing throughout the house, but there was no response. I loosened my buttons as I climbed the stairs to the bedroom quickly. The door was opened, making me speechless as I walked inside. Her clothes, shoes, and even her jewelry box were all scattered around. The drawers were left half opened while some were empty. I stood for a moment, stunned. “Camilla!” I called louder, but there was still no response. I began to fear, I took my phone and called Emily, the head of the maids. Emily arrived quickly; her expression was worried, considering the situation in the room. “Where is Camilla?” I asked, my voice sharper than anything. “She… left, sir?” Emily stammered. “What? What do you mean left? Where did she go?” I muttered, my heart skipped a beat as I felt guilty towards Camilla. “She….didn't say, sir. She just carried a bag and left in a hurry.” My chest tightened, I ran a hand through my head, trying to make sense of what I heard. I signaled my hand, telling her to leave. It's true that I don't want her, but finding out she's gone, knowing she's all alone without anyone, family or friends, made me feel sorry towards her. It felt like I made her parents disown her and I didn't even give her alimony. I scrolled through my contacts and dialed her number for the umpteenth time, but it was switched off. Frustrated, I dropped my phone, moved closer to the standing mirror, and began to remove my clothes and wristwatch. My eyes caught sight of a new Rolex watch; I picked it up, opened it, and discovered that it was from their newest collection, and it had my name engraved Inside it, which I had not ordered. It was at this point that I noticed a handwritten note and a ring placed below it. “I hope you get the happiness I couldn't give you from Nancy. I hope we never get to meet again in life because you are the biggest mistake I ever made in my life. I hope you will take better care of yourself. Goodbye, Daniel.” My hand was shaking as I read the note. I felt sad and even more guilty. The memories of Camilla flashed through my mind. Camilla’s words and gift felt like a slap to me because I didn't give her any gift all through our marriage. I started feeling disturbed and restless about where she could be at that time of the day. The thought made me sick. I couldn't sleep till dawn because I kept having bad dreams and bad thoughts about her. My thoughts raced, guilt and frustration eating at me. I dialed Jackson, my private investigator’s number as soon as 6: 30 am. “I want you to find my wife for me and I'm giving you two hours,” I ordered. “Right on it, boss,” he said, and the line went dead. Two hours later, my phone began to ring. I picked up hastily thinking it was Jackson, but No, it was Nancy. “Yes! What do you want?” I asked angrily. “Are you in the office? I'm somewhere close to your office.” “No!” I exclaimed, then hung up. She called again, but I ignored her. I don't even want to see Nancy or want any trouble from her. I just wanted to see Camilla and make sure she's fine. I was unable to concentrate at work and transferred my annoyance to almost everyone that came my way. Two hours turned to five hours before I received a call from Jackson. “Boss, your wife is no more in Sun City, sir!” “What do you mean by that?” I yelled angrily. “Look at every airport, every bus terminal, waterfront, lakeside, search every record, and bring my wife back,” I yelled angrily. My brow creased as I rake my fingers through my hair. Frustration bubbled inside me. I clenched my fist, and I gnashed my teeth. “Post her photos on the internet, announce it on television and radio stations. I would give whoever finds my wife fifty million dollars, I just want my wife back.” I said because I have lost every peace and I desperately want to see her.Camilla’s POVNine Years later I just landed at Sun City airport after nine years with my son, Jason. I held my son’s hand in one hand and held my designer bag in the second hand. Jason couldn't hold back his excitement that we were returning to Sun City; his bright eyes scanned everything around us, and he kept jumping around as we headed towards the welcome back lobby. I never thought of returning to Sun City because I have built a small hospital in Emerald City, where I was coming from, and it has started to grow. All thanks to my new mother.Nine years ago when Lady Caroline Wesley saved me from dying on the streets, I was a broken woman, ready to give up everything, but she saved me and gave me a second chance at life. She adopted me without hesitation, registered me as her daughter, and took me to another country where I could begin my life again.Throughout my pregnancy period, Lady Wesley nursed me back to health. She made sure I had everything I needed even though I doubt
Daniel's POVMy eyes grew wide open, and my heart almost jumped out from my chest as I stared at Camilla, live and direct in front of me. Our eyes met, but unlike me, she wasn't shocked, she looked at me with a polite but cold and professional smile on her lips. Her auburn hair was neatly parked into a bun, looking professional in her white doctor gown. Her beauty and confidence swept my feet away, it was as if she was reborn. She looked more classy and mature compared to how she looked in the past. “C….Camilla?” I blurted out as I stood up and moved closer to her, as if reducing the distance between us would make the moment less impossible. I looked at her and her name tag, written as Dr. Wesley, and a thousand questions filled my head. “You…you are the Doctor Wesley I've been dying to meet all this while?” I managed to say, barely recovering from the shock. Camilla became a medical doctor after divorcing me and she was going to treat me? It felt surreal. I had never expected
Daniel's PovI sat on the bed in my VIP ward, my hand tapping the screen of my phone continuously, thinking about my encounter with Camilla. The ache in my chest isn't just from my sickness alone, but from something deeper, something I couldn't shake off no matter how hard I tried. She disappeared like smoke after I served her divorce papers then, but now she's back, not just back, but thriving and she even rejected me as her patient. Like I was just another name on the list of her patients. It stung more than I wanted to admit. Who could have thought the once naive and obedient wife of mine could go back to school and even become the most sought after cardiologist in town? I have always known she was crazy about school, but I never would have guessed she would study medicine. Frustration gnawed at me, burning under the surface and I couldn't sit still; I had sent Frank to find every detail about her while I was still stuck here, pacing the room like a caged animal, waiting for a
Camilla's POVMy blood ran cold as I heard Daniel's accusations that I cheated on him. How dare he accuse me of something he did? Has he forgotten how he slept with my sister for years before he finally divorced me? Did he think everyone was like him?He grabbed my hand and pulled me all the way to the back of one of the buildings where no one could easily see us. My mind raced as he pinned me against the wall, making his perfume enveloped me.“Did you really sleep with another man?” he asked angrily."Get your filthy hands off me now. And don't you ever lay your hands on me?" I yanked my hand out of his grip, my eyes blazing with fury. The nerve of him standing there, accusing me like he was the victim. Like he didn't shatter my life into pieces nine years ago. Like he didn't betray me with Nancy, the person I trusted the most. I hated his guts and the mere sight of him got me more annoyed because it reminded me of everything I went through in his hands and every pain I endured in
Camilla's POVI froze at the unexpected question Jason asked, but I quickly masked it up, pretending as if I didn't hear him.The only fear I had when I had Jason was about the moment he would meet Daniel and ask if he was his father. I have vowed never to lie to him, but seeing how they were interacting in a friendly way earlier, I won't have a choice but to lie. I don't want him to like his father more than me because I have been doing the work all alone for years. Jason took every one of Daniel's features, even his, save for his intelligence. Even a blind man would know that Jason is Daniel's son because the resemblance is uncanny.I know he's old enough to know the truth about us, but I still didn't want to hurt him by telling him.Justin moved closer, took Jason from my hand and held my hand, led me through the private elevator to avoid being people's gossip, and returned me to my office.Justin left immediately to give us privacy. Justin had never seen the photo of my ex-husban
Daniel's POVThe drive back to my mansion felt longer than usual. My head was a mess as I kept thinking about Camilla's cold and distant voice, which was a result of my previous actions.I went back to Camilla's office to apologize to her, but I learned that she had taken the day off.I couldn't stop blaming myself because I wondered if I was the reason why she left for the day. And it was because I couldn't contain the joy, sadness, and confusion I felt at the same time. The joy of seeing my wife after nine years, the sadness of not being accepted, the confusion about a child I did not know I had, and the pain of being rejected. I know I am paying for what I did in the past, but admitting it hurts. As I pulled up at the gate of my house, I could hear loud noises of people in a heated argument filling the atmosphere.I didn't even need anyone to tell me before knowing it was Nancy. “I said open the damn gate, Martin!” she shouted, trying to push past the gateman. “What the hell is wr
Daniel's POV“Give me whiskey!” I asked the barman as I sat beside Damien at the bar.“Is it okay for you to drink with your health?” Damien asks out of concern, his gaze boring into me like he's studying a child.I shook my head at his words as I recalled that I couldn't consume much because of my heart. “I really need to drink to relieve my sorrows tonight. I will just have a glass or two to cool my head.” What an irony; I have a heart condition and a broken heart and a cardiologist wife, who has refused to treat me. I thought to myself. “What's going on, you look older compared to the last time we saw each other. It was just a week ago and you look like my older brother. I don't want my best man to look older on my wedding day.” he teased.I smiled, though it didn’t reach my ears. “How is the preparation coming through? I’m sorry I didn't check in.” I apologized, pouting my mouth and making it look like I was really sorry.“Things are gradually settling. Sophia's parents have agr
Camilla's POVI could barely sleep well throughout the night because all I could think of was my encounter with Daniel and how I would find my birth parents. It felt like I had returned to my vomit, to the same place that caused me years of pain and I have made up my mind not to let my son experience the pain of not having parents just like me.I had woken up very early, prepared Jason’s food by myself, freshened up, and also got Jason ready for his new school. Justin had done the research and found a school that was not too far from my office, but far away from Daniel’s company. I want Jason to start early because I don't want him to feel lonely at home or wander around at my company and run into Daniel again, and I also want him to mix up with other children and have good friends. I wanted Justin to be with me because he was the only one I could trust at the moment. He can also come around to take Jason whenever I'm not around to. “Is this my new school, Mommy?” Jason asks exc
Daniel’s POVOn that day after Damien’s wedding, I was looking at a book at home and saw that Camilla’s birthday is coming up in a few days. I never celebrated her birthday with her when she was with me, not even wedding anniversaries or attended events with her, so it made it look awkward even to me that I am planning to celebrate her birthday with her.Although I know it will feel weird for both, I still want to make it special for her and it’s her 30th birthday, so I know she would want to celebrate it, but I don’t know how to do it without making her feel awkward. I don’t have anyone to call since Damien had travelled with his wife for their honeymoon, so I took my phone and began to scroll through to see if I’ll get any ideas on birthday for wife. After about twenty minutes, I finally saw something that I think won’t cause much fight , especially if Jason will be there. I know I am shameless about using Jason as a shield anytime I am having issues with Camilla, but I can’t help
My phone beeped with a call as soon as he left, looking at the screen, my mother’s name, Lady Wesley’s name appeared on the screen.“Hello, Mom,” I said, anticipation bubbling within me.Happy Birthday, darling.”“Thank you, mom!” “I came to your apartment to see you earlier, but you’ve already left when I came. Hope everything is fine?”“Yes, mom. I just had to leave early for work.” I lied. I left earlier than usual today because I don’t want to see Justin since I thought he would come look for me because of what happened the previous night and that is if he still remembers. But I wanted to avoid him so we won’t see or talk about what happened. “It’s okay, Camilla. I just wanted to see how you are doing and give you your gift. I guess we will see later at night.”“Yes, thanks, mom. I will see you later.” The call ended and I continued with the rest of the day, but my thoughts drifted back to how it would have felt if I am happily married with my son and if I have a good husband. I
Camilla’s POV “Happy birthday, Camilla!” I whispered to myself as I opened my eyes early morning. It’s my 30th birthday today and I couldn't be more happy. I said a little prayer for myself in my heart as I rise from my bed to check on Json, the light in my life before I get ready for the day’s work. Not that I have anything I prepared for myself for my birthday, in fact I stopped celebrating my birthday since it reminded me of my failed marriage as a young girl, but I am grateful for the gift of Jason in my life. I freshened up and went to work as usual since today is a busy day with the board of directors due to the meeting we have. I was grateful Lisa and other’s didn’t know my birthday at work, because they would cause disturbance by making me celebrate it.I went over to get a cup of coffee for myself after my rounds before returning back to my office. I was slowly sipping it when I heard someone knock at my door. “You can come inside,” I said, my eyes fixed on the thesis pape
Camilla’s POV “Mommy,” Jason called, staring at me. “How many grandmother’s do I have now?” he asked curiously.“Of course, it’s two grandmother’s that you have.” I answered, knowing he still needed an explanation on how he suddenly has two grandmothers when I already told him it’s just one granny he has.“Everyone has two grandmothers and grandfathers, but unfortunately you don’t have any grandfather, but you have your two grandmothers.” “Wow! Mommy, that’s so nice. But why don’t I have a grandfather?”“Because they become an angel.” I said, nodding as I laugh. There was no way I would introduce Mr. Albrecht is his grandfather because he disowned me years ago, besides he doesn’t deserve it. Nancy can give them grandchildren if they wish to have grandkids. “So when next will I meet Uncle Daniel’s grandmother again?”“Very soon, Jason. But she’s Daniel’s mother and your own grandmother, okay?” I said even though I know it’s not possible. I won’t allow her to see him again because I
Daniel’s POV I was really scared when my mother walked up to Camilla and greeted her earlier. I thought she will fight her again, then lead to me having to choose between the two women I like the most. And Camilla also answered without causing trouble. She even told Jason that she’s her grandmother and allowed them to play. I felt really happy, even though I know I don’t deserve it and my mother also doesn’t deserve it. My mother had done more harm to Camilla than good even since she returned and she knows it. Nancy also stood there, looking lost all through the time my mother met Camilla till she played with Jason. I felt relaxed that everything went well, even though I know Nancy has something planned. I waved to Camilla and Jason at the car and watched as their car disappeared from my eyes, but Nancy had already arrived at my back with my mother then.“Mom,” I called, my face brightening up from seeing them. “How do you feel now that you finally meet Jason.”“I guess it's bette
Camilla’s POVJason and I left home for Damien’s wedding at noon. Although I didn’t tell Daniel that we’ll be coming, but I know Damien was a nice person to me and he never stopped, so it won’t be good not to attend his wedding. Damien and his wife had already walked down the aisle when we arrived, so we settled down in our seat like the rest of the guests. Daniel was the best man, so he sat behind Damien and I love it for their friendship.I avoided Daniel’s gaze when his eyes met mine as we entered, I don’t want to start thinking about him touching me in such a place because, I can’t deny that he looked damn sexy in his coat and perfectly styled hair that suits his handsome face, making him look more breathtaking.i noticed how Daniel wicked at Jason and he waved back at him after we sat down.“Mommy see uncle Daniel,” Jason said, smiling.“Yes, he’s the best man since it’s his friend that is getting married.” I said, smiling back at him. “Don’t worry, you will see him later, okay?”
Daneil’s POV“Congratulations, Damien!” I said as I walked into his apartment to get the groom ready along for the day. I was his best man so I arrived early so we could talk before the event began. We couldn’t meet up the previous night since something came up at Damien’s end.“Thanks, Daniel. You finally passed it down to me.” he said, without an expression on his face.I have known Damien for a long time now and he isn’t the type to show it even if he has a problem, but seeing him looking like a bereaved person even on his wedding day that he was supposed to be happy raised a concern. “What’s going on, Damien? Is something the matter?” I asked sincerely, knowing he won’t tell a lie if something is really bothering him.It was as I ignited fire in him as he looked at me. “My father-in-law wants a quarter of my shares for himself. Not even for his daughter now, but for himself.”“Wow…..that man is really shameless.” I said out of frustration. “But has he been planning this for a lon
Daniel’s PovI felt depressed since Camilla turned me down earlier. I had thought she’d agree to come to the wedding since she’s close to Damien, but I guess she doesn’t like him as much as I thought, or maybe it’s really because of Jason. But even though I still hated the fact that they wouldn’t be coming to the wedding, I still couldn't get Camilla out of my head. Her sweet fragrance still fills my head and makes me want to have sex with her again, even now.I deprived myself of having sex with other women to punish myself for sleeping with Nancy, my wife’s sister, but after the sex with Camilla, I didn’t want to stop. It feels like all the feelings I’ve suppressed all these years have finally come to light, and I kept having the urge to have sex with her and claim her to myself. It’s even more hard that I’m sitting alone in my office now, doing nothing. Her moaning sound and the way she moan out my name and kept begging me to fuck her kept making messing with my head. I just feel
Nancy’s POVI kept thinking about what Jason said as soon as I left the shopping mall. Who among Daniel’s friends could be getting married? Daniel has many friends since he’s rich and well-connected, but then, this friend must be a close one to him; otherwise,e, Camilla won’t be shopping for new clothes and even be preparing to attend the wedding with her son. Camilla isn’t the type that has time for occasions like that, she’s a doctor and rarely has time for herself.I know Camilla was suspicious of me. She might even think I have poisoned her son’s mind towards her, but I don’t give a fuck. I'll still go ahead with my plans and make sure she doesn’t end up with Daniel.Damien is Daniel's closest friend and I know he isn’t married, but I also know he has issues with his fiance’s family. Could they have settled their differences just like that? I thought as I felt more frustrated as I tried to figure things out myself. Although I have Damien’s number, we don’t get along, and It would
