"Thank you"
I halted and turned at Grave. I was surprised when I saw a genuine smile painted on his pale face.
It was the first time he showed a positive emotion.
"I did nothing. It's all because you mustered your courage and decided to face your fears. I only gave you light push."
He trudged towards me but the I was dumfounded by his next actions.
He wrapped me in his arms. He might be cold, but I could feel that warmth from him. Grave is a good guy.
"Still, thank you. I might have continued living with fear but you helped me get past through it. Thank you, Ha
"Laurent I need to tell you something-" "Victoria," I was frozen still as tears started to stream down his eyes. He was looking at me with pain, with sorrow, with love. "Victoria," He repeated, trying to get calm as he heaved a deep sigh. His longing eyes once darted at me again. "Harper, you might be her." "You are her." "W-what?" I took a few steps backward as I felt a chilling sensation running down my spine. Confusion was written all over my face as he continued to gaze at me with those yearning eyes. What is he talking about? One after another? My head was still in mess with the things I'd discovered today. I am still uncertain of what to do. I am still in shambles. I still do not know what to do. Now, this? What does he mean by those words? I am Victoria? How does that make any sense? "If..." His voice trailed off. He was in a state of chaos, he was a me
"I am Eirene Victoria de Beaumont," My voice cracked as everything went back flooding in my mind.Things of the past suddenly flashed right before my eyes. It was not complete. It was only a fragment of what had happened 50 years ago but it was enough to let me know who I really am.I am the Great Chamber."H-how..." My voice trailed off, my body trembling as my legs felt weak."You should first calm down," Laurent held me in the shoulders and helped me to sit on the couch. He handed me a glass of water as his eyes continue to gaze at me with warmth. For a moment, I found my chest throbbing as my eyes met his. We were silent for a moment, until I found him sitting across me, his eyes melting my heart, his soft touch as his hand held mine was giving me the warmth which might have been one of the things I've been yearning to feel again.
Harper's Pov /One month ago/ I still couldn't believe I survived that accident. As to how Laurent saved me, I don't even have the slightest idea. Come to think of it, I haven't even seen even the slightest bit of his power. He never showed it to anyone. I don't even recall him using his ability. I wonder how strong he is? I went into the place where the bus was brought. It was filled with vehicles which also had damages. I peek at each corner, searching to where my bus was placed. I am here because I am still curious about something. It has been bugging my mind since day one. What causes that bus accident? What happened on the roof that made the vehicle swerve into the other lane? What is the mystery behind my almost death? My tracks stopped as I heard some voices from afar. Maybe some staff or other passengers who wanted to see the bus. That accident of us has been the talk of the t
"Just stay here," His words caught my attention, making my head turned as my gaze landed on him.I chose to keep my mouth shut and be engulfed by silence."I will protect you and I won't fail this time. I promise."His eyes were firm. He was looking at me with no signs of hesitation but my chest was still the same after all the thing I've been through.Everything felt numb.I was betrayed several times I do not know who to trust now. I was ruined by each of them and now I am not certain if I can see myself forgiving them for what they have done.I went through enough.
"Kieran?"I turned only to find his familiar face. He was wearing that usual white clothing and black pants. He must really like wearing simple clothing."It's been a while since you came here. Don't you miss me?" He joked, trudging near me. He sat beside and stared at the little fairies flying around with a genuine smile in his face."Drop the act."My words made him turn in my direction. I can feel his gaze at me but I chose to look in front without meeting his gaze.I was betrayed enough I can't endure looking at him while hearing the truth from his own mouth.I feel like I will get betrayed once again today. But still, I don't want to live with lies anymore. I wanted to face the harsh reality even if ti breaks me.Because a hurtful truth is better than a sweet lie.
"What do you want from me?" I went closer and stopped the moment we were only a meter away from each other. An evil grin formed on his lips. "Such a bold move to make, darling. You are completely entering the lion's den.""A beast is not a lion if he does not have fangs to kill."My lifeless eyes were fixated on him as I saw how he was taken aback. His surprised expression confirmed the theory I had in mind."Welcome back, Victoria." He turned and sat back on his throne, clapping slowly as he stared at me with amusement."I wonder how everything unfolded? Did someone confess about the truth," He let his chin rest on his open palm, leaning his elbow on the side of his throne."Or you simply caught the sly fox in the act?"I only stared at him with my cold eyes."I see you do not want to share it with me."
Thunder cracked loudly as dark skies started to loom on us. His playful demeanor can no longer be seen. Now, he's starting to reveal his true colors. His cold gazed was fixated still on mine. He was quiet, but I could feel that deep killing intent coursing through his body. He is certain this time. Now, he is set to kill me."I wonder how this will end?" I mumbled, folding up my sleeves as my hair started to glow red, my eyes radiating an intense yellow light as I let my power flow endlessly inside me.Having to regain some of my memories, I was able to regain my power of the past as well.I am the Great Chamber, and now I am a Third-Rate Chamber possessing two abilities.I will make sure to end this once and for all."Do not feel too confident," A scoff came out from his mouth, letting out an evil grin as his eyes started to glow deep red. " Let me tell you a little secret," His right arm shifted into a huge one.
"We must not waste any time," I announced, their eyes looking in my direction with confused gaze. They were looking at me as if I am a completely different person.I, too. I don't know who am I anymore as well. Now that I am starting to remember the past bit by bit, the burden in my shoulders seems heavier each second. I am starting to realize how much responsibility I hold. How much lives may be risked depending on my actions. As each time passes, I as Harper Williams seems to be nothing but a short lived dream.I am Eirene Victoria de Beaumont. The Great Chamber.
