Contrary to what Amanda thought, snatching up Ava’s daughter turned out to be a herculean task. She had prepared adequately for the day but definitely didn’t think that it was going to take as much time as doing it took.

Logan had had to travel three days before with the guy who he had hired to kill Derek, so it was just her, Steve, and Denise, whom she had told about what she intended to do.

They followed Ava’s every move right from when she left her house with her daughter until she dropped off the child at the park where the party was going to be held.

That was when Amanda began to realize that snatching the kid wouldn’t be as easy as she had thought it would be. For starters, there were adults who supervised the whole thing everywhere.

They didn’t let the kids out of their sight for even a minute, which meant that going close to any of the kids at that point was going to be very obvious and an alarm could be raised, which would not bode well for them.

Still, she had anticipate

Harper had broken off from the group of children and was now merrily chasing another little girl who looked to be the same age as her and was the same size as well.As Amanda and her group observed them keenly, the children ran towards the parking lot, where the car that Amanda had rented was parked. They weaved in between the parked cars, enjoying their game of chase with reckless abandon. “Steve, get ready. They may run over to this side soon.” Amanda hissed at Steve.“But there’s two of them. What are we going to do about the other child?”“Well, I don’t know. Grab her as well. They’re just little kids. How hard can it be? Perhaps you should go to the backseat and Denise should come to the front seat so it’ll be easier for you to grab them, and make sure not to fuck this up." Amanda said.Although he was unwilling to do so, Steve did as she asked. By this time, the children had disappeared from sight again."Shit! • The CEO Ex-Wife's Revenge   Presumption

Ava had been busy all morning with working on her script despite the fact that nowadays, she constantly felt tired as hell, because of the pregnancy. She certainly didn't remember being this tired during Harper's pregnancy, but maybe that was because she had spent most of her time crying and ruing the day that she met Derek back then.By the time it was afternoon, she decided to take a nap for at least an hour, after which she was going to head over to the park to pick up Harper, who was no doubt having a field day at her friend's birthday party.Derek had called Ava that afternoon to ask how she and Harper were faring. He did that all the time so that it was almost as though they were in a serious relationship, or even married. That, among other things, must have been why she fell for him so fast again after literally hating him for years.Just hearing his voice reminded Ava how much she missed him, even though he had literally only just left.Ava knew that if it turned out that they

Ava came to with the sound of frenzied knocking on her door and sat up groggily, disoriented for a little while. It didn't take her long to remember what had happened, or why she found herself on the ground, and she bolted up from the ground where she was sitting immediately she remembered. She regretted this sudden movement when her head swam and took a minute to steady herself, while the person who was at the door kept on knocking. As though on cue, her phone also chose that moment to ring shrilly, adding to the noise that the incessant knocking was already producing.Ava wasn't in the mood to receive visitors right then, but she remembered that Harper was still with her friend's mother and the woman could be the one who was knocking to drop her off.The television was still on, but news about Derek wasn't on it any longer. Derek was dead? No, of course not, he wasn't.There was no way on earth he would be dead. She must have dreamt the whole thing up. She snatched up her pho

  • The CEO Ex-Wife's Revenge   Blessed peace

Amanda hadn't felt this exhilarated in a long while. She hadn't bargained for getting an extra kid when she planned to kidnap Derek’s daughter, but the whole operation had gone so smoothly that she couldn't complain. All she had to do after they got the children in the car was to hand Denise the gun and ask her to go in the backseat of the car so she could watch over the terrified children. After that, she asked Steve to come sit with her in the passenger seat where she could keep her eyes on him, because she didn't trust him one bit. It was crazy that even Denise had way more balls than he did. Derek’s daughter was a pain in the ass because she started to scream as soon as she realised what was happening, but Amanda was quicker than that. She turned around and delivered a sharp slap to the little girl's face, effectively silencing her. However, that only lasted for a short while, before Harper was telling them all about how they were going to go to the place where bad peop

Ava slowly regained consciousness in the hospital room and blinked in confusion. She knew immediately that she was in a hospital, but couldn't exactly say why she was there, or how she got there. "How do you feel, Ava?" A doctor asked her, coming into her line of vision and poking and prodding at her. "Why am I here?" "You fainted, Ava. We kept you under observation overnight." With those words, the events of the previous night came rushing back to her immediately, and she sat upright, her head swimming. "Has my daughter been found? Has Harper been found?" She asked the doctor, who told her that he would get her mom. A few minutes later, Ava's mom hurried into the room. Ava took one look at her mother's bloodshot eyes, which were red from obvious weeping, and any hope that she had been harboring that things may have changed overnight, disappeared immediately. "Oh, mom! Mom! How can this be happening to me? What have I done to deserve any of this? What has poor Derek or Harper d

  • The CEO Ex-Wife's Revenge   Aftermath

Amanda took the children straight to a secluded house that she had purchased and 'furnished' solely for the purpose of housing Harper after she kidnapped the kid. By this time, it was already very dark and she had been driving for hours. The house had a basement, which was where she intended to keep both girls locked up for as long as she decided that they were going to live ... which she didn't think was going to be that long. Derek's daughter was far too annoying for Amanda to let the girl live for very long. In just the short span of time that the girl had spent in Amanda's presence, Amanda already knew that she wouldn't be able to stand her. This was a shame because her initial intention was to torture the child and send evidence of this to Ava as a form of punishment and torture to Ava as well. "I want to go home. Uncle Steve, please tell her to let me go home. My mom will be mad at me and she will be scared that something bad has happened to me." Harper cried when Amanda fin

  • The CEO Ex-Wife's Revenge   Unexpected

Steve, Amanda, and Denise watched the news while they had their mini party, which was mostly them drinking and talking, even though they were all tired from having been out all day. As expected, the media was agog with the news of Derek's death, and the glee on Amanda's face at the thought that her efforts had finally paid off and she was well on her way to getting what she felt was her rightful inheritance was unmistakable. Even Steve who wasn't related to Derek felt somewhat bad at the news of his murder, and it seemed that Denise felt the same way, because she was strangely silent and pensive. It was only Amanda who was full of life and happy as hell. That happiness turned into utter shock and total disbelief in the next hour, though. They were still drinking and discussing trivial things when the news channel that was currently on, diverted from showing the regular news to show breaking news. The breaking news was that billionaire Derek Turner, who had earlier that aftern

Steve listened to Amanda and Logan fight groggily, as he lay in bed in the house that they had come to after kidnapping Harper and Gracie. He had suddenly felt so tired not long after he retired to sleep and didn’t even realize when he fell asleep. He heard Logan hit Amanda and heard her sharp squeal of surprise and pain, but he didn’t bother getting up to ask what was wrong, because it wasn’t any of his business, and frankly, he didn’t care. Also, he felt so tired and sleepy and it was such a chore to keep his eyes open. Not long after that, he heard Logan drive away in a huff.Logan and Amanda’s fight was what had woken Steve up and now, he struggled to remain awake, but he found that somehow, it was difficult to do so, and this was strange, considering the fact that he was something of an insomniac. As he lay there battling sleep, he began to think about his life choices, which hadn't been very good. He led her back to his room, walked over to a drawer by the side of his bed, opened it, and brought out something from inside it.When he turned towards her and she saw what it was that he brought out of it, Ava gasped out loud.It looked like the black box in which her engagement ring had come several years ago.Derek had always had a taste for good things, and he had the money to support his taste. Thus back then, even when he wasn’t really into her, and was only marrying her out of pity, he had gotten her a beautifully crafted and expensive engagement ring.As he opened the box in his hands now and got down on one knee, she could see that it was the same ring that was inside it.He had kept it even after all these years! Tears sprung to her eyes, filling them as he professed his love to her and asked her to marry him again, promising to treat her right this time around and make up for all the lost years.“Yes, yes, Derek. Of course, I’ll marry you! There’s nothing I want more.” She

Ava wasn’t about to take any chances though. After hugging the living daylights out of Derek, while he hugged her back just as tightly, she insisted that they had to visit the hospital right then.“But it’s already late. Besides, I don’t think there's anything they can do or will have to do. We can wait until tomorrow to go there and celebrate this night instead.” Derek suggested, his voice rife with meaning as he threw a suggestive wink Ava’s way, but she didn't allow herself to be swayed.“No way in hell. We’ve waited too long for you to regain your memory to just take it so lightly now that it has finally happened. We’re going now, and that’s that!”“As Her Royal Highness wishes.” Derek joked, making a small, formal bow that made Ava smile.Yes, he was back. She could see in his eyes that he truly recognized her, but even better, he had the same look in his eyes that he used to have before he went to the conference and everything changed. The look that told her that he was in love

She picked up the papers with the slowness of a very old woman and scanned through them, her hands shaking. She was not surprised to see her name, as well as Derek’s name on the papers because she had recognized the papers the minute they fell out of the book.It was the same ones that Derek had handed to her on that night several years ago, which she had had no choice but to reluctantly sign, while crying her eyes out and swearing never to forgive him for everything that he had done to her.Except that he hadn't really done anything in the sense of the word ... at least, not in the way that she thought. Why on earth were these papers still with him? She had signed them and left that day without giving any thought to what he was going to do with them. Her signature was there on the paper, right where she had signed it haphazardly. In fact, she thought that she could still see a tear mark or two on the papers since she was crying when she signed them, but she couldn’t be sure since th

They walked in companionable silence to Derek’s room. Once they were inside the room, he led her to his walk-in closet where he had stored the journals, making sure to keep a respectable distance between them.Ava knew that it was because she had complained about the scent of his cologne, and now, she wished that she had kept her wide mouth shut.“It’s all in there. Here, let me look for the specific one you asked about.” Derek said, picking it out and handing it to her.“Oh, thank you. Are you sure that you don’t mind me reading it?”“Not in the least bit. I feel like I’d be doing the guy who wrote all that stuff a huge solid by letting you see for yourself all the things that he wanted to say to you for so long but was too chicken to say. He might want to kill me for doing it, but I think he’ll be better for it in the long run.” Derek replied, shrugging.“Okay then,” Ava said happily.Derek, for his part, suddenly became self-conscious. What if she thought that he was a sappy fool a

The next day, Derek arrived home from work with a huge bouquet of flowers for Ava and a smaller one for Harper. The two of them were in the living room, watching Harper’s favorite cartoon and looking all comfy and cozy. Their eyes lit up the moment Derek stepped into the living room, and this filled him with warmth. Harper in her usual fashion, bounded up to run over to him to give him a big hug. Her hugs were one of his favorite things nowadays, and he could never get tired of receiving them for as long as he lived. Ava, on the other hand, was more reserved in her welcome towards him, but she did smile at him in welcome. Her eyes were always cautious around him, which kind of made him sad because that emotion was definitely different from the one he wrote about in his journals after she warmed up to him. “Welcome home. Derek. What have you got there behind you?” Ava asked him. “Thank you. I got you both some flowers.” He replied, and brought forward the hand that was holding th

As the days passed and Derek's memory didn't return, he got more and more frustrated because it felt like things were at a standstill due to the memory loss.On the bright side, catching up with work wasn't difficult for him at all. In fact, it was one of the easiest things he had to deal with and he spent several hours a day at it while Harper was at school and Ava was trying to get back to work.Catching up with the rest of his life was what was difficult though. Nothing made sense, and so he had to go through all of his stuff, trying to find out more about his current than he already knew.He managed to find out a lot just by doing this. He had always been very organized and used to keep journals that documented his daily life.Apparently, he still kept these journals and they were all arranged neatly on a shelf in his library. He went through each and every one of them, trying to catch a glimpse of the man he now was. Going through them made him realize just how different he was f

She smiled at him and slowly came out from behind the chair. Derek had no idea for how long she had been hiding there, but it seemed that it had been quite a while.“Daddy…” She said and without warning, rushed at him and embraced him tightly with more strength than he would have expected a child to have.Derek awkwardly patted her back and embraced her too, not sure if he should pick her up, kiss her cheek, ruffle her hair, or anything like that.“How are you?” He asked her, wincing as soon as the words left his mouth. He sounded like he was having a formal meeting with some board of directors or something like that, not talking to a child. However, Harper didn’t seem to mind. In fact, she made his decision for him by raising her arms, indicating that he should pick her up.“I’m fine, daddy.
