Ivery's Pov

"You're now husband and wife!" The priest Franco called to bless our marriage, declared and placed our hands on top of each other.

I saw Franco smile at me and I returned the smile. I was excited as well as lucky. I didn't have to go through a lot before I got what I wanted. Finally my mother will be healthy and we'll live happily ever after the contract ends.

The certificate to prove that we were married to each other was brought forward and we were asked to sign on it. We both did and Franco thanked the priest as he took his leave. Of course, we were the only people aware of the marriage as Franco had said he needed it to be secret which was for the best. I also won't let anyone know I got married to him and divorced one month later. It was humiliating to me and I couldn't help but thank him for making everything easy for me.

"Let's have lunch together before we make our trip to the apartment," he told me.

"Yes, let's do that but I need to go to the hospital to pay for the surgery," I said after remembering I need to pay the bills as soon as possible so the surgery can be carried out.

Franco nodded and began to walk outside of the mansion. I walked behind him and continued to bow my head as his men wouldn't stop greeting me.

We got to his private car and he took the car key from his driver as we drove out of the mansion by ourselves. We headed straight to the hospital my mother was in and I got out immediately assuring him I will be right back. Now I've gotten to know who Franco was and why he needed the marriage to be a secret. Franco Milestone's father was one of the richest men in the country. He owns many companies and firms pertaining to real estate, automobiles, AI elements and lots more. Franco's father basically deals with electronics and he was well known for his successful business.

However, Franco was also popular and it wasn't easy for him to show up as a public figure. I was lucky to have met him. I was only going to spend one month knowing the son of a billionaire which as well was the best thing that had ever happened to me.

I took the elevator to my mother's ward and I saw her laying comfortably on the bed while the nurses were taking care of her. "Mom," I called and ran to her, receiving her into a family hug.

"Ivery baby, I've been waiting for you," she said with lots of sadness in her voice.

"I'm here now, Mom. I'm here to pay your bills," I replied and hugged her tightly.

"I'm happy to hear that from you, Ivery. I will finally have my surgery," she said and hugged me back. Mon doesn't know the amount of her surgery and didn't even know it was a heart disease since I made sure the doctor kept it from her. I wanted to keep her safe. If she got to know, she wouldn't be this happy.

"Hope you're taking your medication?" I requested and sat beside her, stroking her hair bit by bit.

"Yes, the nurses won't let me rest. Anyways, are you not going to work? I was expecting to see you later in the evening," Mom said without any knowledge I had quit my job. Yes, I had to. It was part of the contract agreement. Franco told me to keep my status for my good so he asked me to quit.

"I will go, Mom. I came to pay your bills and also to see you. I will take my leave now," I said and sprang up to leave. "Be healthy for me, mother. I will be back to check on you."

"Bye, sweetheart," she bid as I walked away to make the payment that Franco already transferred to me earlier in the day.

I entered Franco's car and he jerked his car immediately to start. "I need to get somewhere and you're coming with me," he uttered with a stern look and I knew immediately that something was wrong.

We didn't drive too long before we got to our destination. Franco drove his car to the parking lot and we both came down, hurrying into a construction company. On getting in, I saw a reporter standing in the entrance and as soon as they sighted us, they came running to us.

"Mr Milestone, you have finally brought your wife you talked about," the reporters asked and gathered in front of us while we struggled to pass through them. Franco looked back at me and gripped my hands, pulling me closer to himself. Just then, some group of men came running to where we were and started making way for us to pass. Yet, I still didn't understand what was going on. All I did was hurry inside after Franco.

"You're here, Mr Milestone," a woman in her late 60s I guess, asserted.

"This is my wife, Ivery Lycanster," Franco introduced, gazing largely at me.

"Wow, what a beauty! It's true you're married, Mr Milestone," the woman enunciated and Franco nodded his head before he shifted his gaze from me to the woman.

"Yes, I told you she went out of state now she's back. Can I sign the papers now?"

The woman chuckled and walked back to her desk then she pointed out that we took our seats. "Mr Milestone. If you have your marriage certificate here, we can hold a press conference," she stated and looked up at Franco. Everything was confusing and I needed an answer right immediately. Why would Franco lie about us getting married for long and I had just returned from the state? Why would the woman need our marriage certificate to hold a press conference? What was happening?

I looked up at Franco and saw him already gazing at me. "I heard the project will be transferred to someone else if I don't show you my wife today and here she is yet you need our marriage certificate?" He asked the woman with a frail look.

The woman then cleared her throat. "We have rules here. The marriage certificate is the only thing to confirm that you both are married before you can have the project," the woman uttered and I sighed, earning Franco gape at me again.

"Fine," Franco let out. "Call for the press conference and I will bring my wife along with our marriage certificate to announce to everyone that we're married."

Franco and I walked towards the car and went inside, the chauffeur ignited the car engines, driving us back to the mansion. As the car pulled up to the mansion, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a beautiful, sprawling estate, with acres of grounds and a sparkling pool. The house itself was a grand, old-fashioned mansion, with stone columns and arched windows. I felt a little overwhelmed. This was a far cry from my modest apartment back home.“It's astonishing, isn't it?” Franco said bluntly, noticing my reaction. “You shouldn’t worry, you'll get used to it soon,” he said, smirking, and I can see pride in every

I put my head in my hands, trying to make sense of it all.I lay in my bed again, trying to relax my mind, but I could not, as Franco's words were fresh in my head. I groaned tiredly. I stood up lazily as I stumbled to walk, I entered the bathroom to take my bath. In less than an hour I was through, and I opened my wardrobe to pick a creamy skirt that stopped at my knees and I wore a crop top that showed my cleavage a bit. I packed my hair, leaving two strands at the front, I was not the makeup type. I looked at myself one more time before stepping out of my room. Franco was standing at the coffee maker, preparing coffee for himself. His back view was facing me. “Good morning,” I gree

"That's good. Get prepared, your time starts now. Tick! Tock!" he sang as he walked out of the room. In less than thirty minutes, I was ready. My heart was pounding as I stood in front of the mirror, applying the last touch of makeup on my face. I have never worn this much makeup before. I was worried that I might look ridiculous. I turned to face the mirror, surveying my appearance. I was wearing a long black gown, a hat, and sunglasses. I barely recognized myself, I hoped that no one would recognize me either. As I stepped into the sitting room, I locked eyes with him. He scanned my body with his eyes, from my head to my toe, He smiled. "Perfect!" I heard him say. One could mistake it as a whisper. He grabbed his car key. Facing me he spoke," Let's go", he said, walking towards the door

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the worst. I walked toward Franco, my footsteps echoing in the empty hallway. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to think of the right words. I could smell the faint scent of his breath. I cleared my throat, the sound reverberating off the walls. "Please," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I need your help. I need a maid for my mother. She needs someone to help her, and I don't know what else to do.""I can't grant you what you request," he said, with his gaze fixed on his lap. I could see the set of his shoulders, stiff and unyielding. He made no move to look at me, even though I was right in front of him. "Please," I begged, my voice cracking with emotion. "My mother needs someone to care for her, she's too weak to do it on her own." I tri
