Riley slowly turned to look at Olivia, her heart thumping loudly. Zachary chose her?
Then the chatter resumed, diverting attention away from Olivia.
"It's not the nerd!""Everyone, to the old basketball court!"
"Whoot!"
"Get the eggs!"
The students dashed out of the classroom in pure excitement, pushing aside the teacher who was about to walk in. Olivia released a relieved breath.
"That was close." Riley placed her hands on her heart where it was beating wildly in her chest, her braided pigtails falling behind her. When she stood up, Olivia looked up at her— the classroom was now empty.
"What's it, Riley?"
"Let's go see." Riley's voice was barely audible.
Olivia's mouth hung open, her glasses almost slipping off. Then she folded her arms defiantly. "You have got to be kidding. No, Riley."
"Please, please, please."
"I said no!" Olivia snapped. Why does this girl love trouble?
Riley's face fell, and she sat down slowly. "I'm sorry..."
"I'm sorry, too. I shouldn't have raised my voice, but this is dangerous," Olivia said softly, her brown eyes filled with guilt.
"It's fine," Riley mumbled.
"Let's do something fun." Olivia pulled out her laptop. "I'm trying to come up with a plot twist for my novel, and I want you to—"
Her words trailed off when she realized Riley was no longer beside her.
"Don't tell me she... Oh my goodness!" Olivia quickly dashed out of the classroom.
Old Basketball CourtRiley staggered her way into the already packed court and was about to weave through the crowd when a firm hand gripped her tightly.
Alert, she spun around—only to meet Olivia’s scowl.
"I'm..." Riley tried to think of an excuse. She knew Olivia was upset.
"What’s wrong with you?" Disappointment flashed across Olivia's pretty features.
"I'm sorry," Riley muttered, mentally scolding herself.
"You know what? Do whatever you want." With that, Olivia turned to leave.
Riley quickly grabbed her arm. "I'm sorry, please... I—I don’t know what came over me."
Before Olivia could respond, they were shoved into a corner as two hefty, mean-looking guys in uniforms dragged a tall boy with glasses and dark, messy hair into the center of the court, forcing him to kneel.
The students erupted in jeers and excited whispers.
"Poor boy!""It's another nerd!"
"Will he stand up to Zachary as well?"
A mocking laugh rippled through the crowd.
Suddenly, deafening screams filled the court—louder than before. Phones were held up, recording.
"It's him!""Oh, kill me now!"
"Zachary is so hot!"
"Look at his face. He's ready to kill."
"Oh my God…Kyleeeeee!"
"Noah!!!! Just one night, please!"
Noah winked, and more screams followed.
Kyle's face remained blank, while Zachary stood with his hands tucked in his pockets. His uniform’s buttons were undone, exuding effortless confidence. Even with his serious expression, his silver earring glittered under the lights, a matching chain dangling around his neck.
Olivia scoffed from where she stood.
"The students sure have a lot of energy. They must eat a lot every day just for this," Riley commented, her eyes fixed on Zachary.
Olivia almost laughed but remembered she was still mad at her. Riley sighed softly when Olivia remained silent.
With slow, measured steps, Zachary stopped in front of the kneeling boy, whose head remained bowed. Kyle and Noah flanked Zachary, while the guys who had dragged the nerd forward stepped back.
"Owen Moreno..." The name rolled smoothly off his lips, but Owen didn't raise his head. Zach let out a low, dark chuckle.
The students kept recording.
"The rules were simple. Every recording taken in this school stays within the group chats and the school walls."
The court fell silent. Everyone was focused, eager to listen to Zachary's deep, magnetic voice. Then he began pacing in slow circles around Owen, each step more deliberate than the last.
"But... the mighty Owen didn’t just record—he sent the videos to the internet."
A collective gasp echoed through the court. So, the anonymous video meant to ruin Zach’s reputation—the one that was taken down a few days ago—was Owen’s doing?
"I can't believe this asshole dared to offend my Zachary!"
"He deserves his punishment!"
Owen suddenly raised his head, his eyes hidden behind his glasses. His face was bruised, likely from the guys who had dragged him here.
"I did the right thing—exposing your beastly side to the world," he said in a low voice.
Zach grabbed his collar and threw a hard punch. A loud cracked sounded and blood spurted from his nose.
"Woahhhhh!"
"That was intense!"
At the front, the BB girls sat majestically, popping their gum as they watched the scene unfold with pleasure. Irene focused like a laser on Zachary, while Madeline bit her lip, staring at Kyle. Ava, on the other hand, was looking at Noah.
Riley held her breath—Zachary was truly terrifying. Now she understood why Olivia was trying to protect her. Olivia could do nothing but clench her fists as Zachary delivered a torrent of punches to Owen, turning him into a bloody mess.
Noah grinned devilishly, while Kyle looked bored. Scarlett and Ruby watched from high in the bleachers, pity evident on their faces.
Liam, alone in his private suite, observed the event through the live school chat, his gray eyes flickering with something unreadable.
When Zachary was done, he casually wiped his bloody hands with a white handkerchief and lifted his gaze to the crowd. Olivia's heart froze when their eyes locked. Beads of sweat formed on her brow as a smirk curled on his lips before he strode out of the court, his friends following behind.
Time ticked on. One by one, the students dispersed, but not before dumping trash onto Owen’s unconscious body. No one cared if he was dead. The school authorities wouldn’t do anything anyway—not if it was Zachary Maverick who did it.
Olivia remained standing, Riley beside her. She was scared—really scared.
"We need to help him," Olivia finally found her voice, and Riley blinked.
"Didn't you say we should avoid trouble?"
"Just this once," Olivia muttered, sympathy for Owen overwhelming her.
Shrugging, Riley followed Olivia as she made to the unconscious boy on the floor.
"My goodness, he's so heavy," Riley groaned as they tried to lift Owen.
"Quit complaining, Riley," Olivia scolded, helping her lift him.
Hallway, Sixth FloorRiley was hurrying to the school infirmary to meet Olivia when she was suddenly pulled into a classroom.
"Let me go!" She struggled against the strong grip, but a handkerchief was pressed over her nose. She took a deep breath in her panic and darkness took over.
When Riley’s eyes fluttered open, she jolted upright, alert. She scanned the empty classroom, then rushed toward the door.
"Take another step, and lose your legs."
She froze. Slowly, she turned to meet the piercing blue eyes burning into her skin. Zachary sat on a table, legs crossed elegantly, his gaze locked onto the shivering girl.
"What... what do you want?" she stammered, gripping her skirt tightly.
"Simple. Bring Olivia to the party I'm throwing soon. Make sure she comes." His voice was calm, almost lazy, but the ice in his eyes made her blood run cold. "You don't want to know what will happen if you fail."
Her eyes widened in horror.
"Simple. Bring Olivia to the party I'm throwing soon. Make sure she comes—you don't want to know what will happen if you fail." His voice was cold, sending a chill down Riley’s spine.Riley’s eyes widened. "W-What do you want to do to her?" Zach raised a brow. "I don't owe you an explanation?" She quickly shook her head. "I can't… Please, don't hurt my friend," she pleaded, dropping to her knees, her lips quivering and fingers clasped together. "You really don’t want to cross me. Get out." His cold voice cut through the air like a blade. Like a bolt of lightning, Riley shot out of the classroom. Her heart pounded uncontrollably as she rushed into the elevator, pressing the button with shaky fingers, trying to calm herself. As the doors slid open, she collided with someone. She was about to stumble when a strong arm caught her waist. "I'm sorry," she mumbled as he released her, looking down. "Watch where you're going." The deep voice made her look up, and her breath hitched. Lia
Olivia stared at Riley for a moment, her brain spinning. She knew it was an impossible idea, but Riley's face was so hopeful."Fine, I'll think about it," Olivia mumbled, and Riley's face lit up. "Really?" "Yes." "Thanks, Livia." Riley pecked her cheek, making Olivia chuckle. She'd just find an excuse not to go that day. Evening, Collins MansionAt the dining table sat Amelia, Madeline, and Olivia. The clattering of cutlery filled the air before Amelia spoke up."Your father will be returning home this weekend." Olivia momentarily froze, choking on her food. Oh no! "Are you okay, sweetie?" Amelia asked worriedly, even though she knew exactly why she reacted that way."I'm... fine." Olivia took a sip of water, making Madeline snort."So, girls, how has school been?" Amelia asked, trying to change the topic. "Fine, Mom," Olivia mumbled, stuffing a piece of steak into her mouth. "Mom, there's this party this weekend. I really need to go," Madeline said, pushing her black hair beh
The PartyLoud music boomed in the background as the students of Harrison High filled the massive living room, which had been transformed into a party hall.Dressed provocatively, they roamed about with wine glasses and liquor bottles in hand. Some were smoking, others grinding against each other as they danced, moving wildly to the music. At the center table—where all the girls' attention was drawn—sat Zach, Noah, and Kyle holding court. Bottles and drinks were scattered around, but no one dared to approach because the BB girls were with them.Irene straddled Zach's lap, running her fingers through his black hair, which fell seductively over his chiseled face. He wore a black shirt with a few buttons undone, revealing the pendant resting on his sculpted chest. His jacket was draped over his shoulders, and silver rings adorned his fingers, lips, and ears."Baby," Irene cooed, but Zach wasn’t paying a bit of attention to her. His gaze remained fixed on his phone, occasionally flickerin
Zach," Irene hissed in disbelief, standing up abruptly.Zachary completely ignored her as he walked upstairs, Olivia’s arms wrapped around his neck."Zach... Zachary... please take me home," Olivia mumbled, her eyes half-closed and lips pursed. As Zachary entered the marbled hallway leading to the rooms, he came face to face with Liam, earbuds in, dressed in just a t-shirt and sweatpants.Liam stared coldly at Zachary as his gaze shifted to Olivia in his brother's arms. Without a word, he walked past, while Zach's expression remained unreadable. He simply kicked open the door to a guest room and stepped inside.DOWNSTAIRSIf Irene had been upset before, now she was furious. Her face flushed with anger and embarrassment as she watched Zachary take Olivia upstairs. The music had resumed, and the students had gone back to partying."Chill, Irene," Madeline said, trying to calm her down."Don't tell me to chill," she snapped, gulping down a glass of spiked punch."You don't have anything
NEXT MORNING, MAVERICK'S MANSION – SATURDAYSunlight filtered through the cream-colored curtains of the guestroom shining a light on Olivia's face as she remained fast asleep under a quilt. Her mouth was slightly open, a thin trail of drool trickling onto the soft mattress.Outside the door, four maids anxiously bit their fingers. For the past hour, they had been trying to wake her, but she remained in a deep slumber. They weren't sure what to do now. They certainly didn't want to wake the young master.Footsteps echoed down the hallway as Nanny Maya approached them, her face calm."Good morning, Nanny Maya," the young maids greeted."Our guest is still asleep?" Maya asked. They nodded in unison. She sighed. "Go tell cook to prepare a hangover soup in five minutes.""Yes, Nanny Maya!" The maids scurried off, thrilled to be given a task to do. Just as Maya was about to enter the room, Zachary slipped up behind her."BOO!"She jumped, startled, making Zach smirk in amusement. Frowning,
HARRISON MANSIONIrene scrolled through the school blog on her phone. Despite Olivia being shaded all morning, it did nothing to pacify the rage boiling within her. Zachary had let that girl touch him—he even carried her! But when Irene expressed concern, he shut her out. Now, after sending countless messages, he was still ignoring her."Reply to my fucking messages, Zachary!"A maid rushed in, holding a tray with juice. "Are you okay, miss?"Irene’s eyes blazed with fury, making the maid tremble. "Do I look fine?! Who the fuck are you to ask me that?! Come here!"She grabbed the glass and threw the juice in the poor maid's face, drenching her."I'm sorry, Miss Irene," the maid whimpered, but Irene had lost all restraint."I’ll teach you to be sorry, bitch!" Smashing the glass against the wall, she dragged the maid toward the bathroom, ignoring her cries. She was going to make this stupid girl drink something worse than juice.MONDAY MORNINGOlivia strapped on her backpack and stepped
"Everything isn’t going to be about you anymore, Zachary Maverick. I’ve had enough! If you or anyone else tries to bully me again, I’ll make life hell for you all!" Olivia yelled, her voice dripping with venom."Oh, I’m so scared," Zach smirked, recovering from his dazed state. Then, without warning, he flipped her over, ignoring the stain their contact caused. Now, he was on top of her, their eyes locked.Oh my goodness.Did you see that?Nerdy’s got some nerve. What was her name again? The whispers and gasps from the students didn’t break the intensity of Zachary and Olivia’s locked gazes. But Irene’s fists were clenched tightly, her face flushed with anger. What was this nerd trying to do? Did she think her little stunts could pull Zach toward her? Once again, they were in an intimate position, and it made Irene burn with fury."Let go of me," Olivia seethed beneath him trying to buck him off.Zach only raised a thick brow, amused. "Why should I?""You won’t like what I do next if
"My daughter?" Theodore asked, sarcasm dripping in his tone. "She's not, Amelia. She's not our daughter! If you want me to love her, then find my real daughter.!" Olivia heard Theodore thundered, and her lips trembled. No! This can't be true, she must have heard wrong, right? She ran to her room immediately. Tears streaming down her face.NEXT DAY, 7: 25AM.Olivia's face was pale as a sheet in the morning as she climbed downstairs, her backpack strapped to her shoulders. Her feet moved slowly as a snail. Her parents were already sitting down at the dining table. Parents? They aren't her parents.Madeline was biting out of her sandwich, a happy look on her face. Did she know about it too? It was obvious she did, that's why she was always trying to avoid her like a plague, that's why she didn't want the whole school to know they were sisters. But now, Olivia knew the truth."Livia, you're late for breakfast," Amelia scolded with a kind smile, while Theodore and Madeline didn't spare he
"Sorry?" He raised his thick brows, then he grazed his teeth on his lips lightly. "Crawl to me.""What?" Her eyes widened. Was this some sort of joke? Crawl? On the floor? To him?"You're kidding right?" Olivia laughed, darting her brown eyes around the walls nervously but his pokerface expression remained intact and her face twisted in a frown."I can't do it," she finally breathed out.He raised his perfectly shaped brows, "Why?""Because," she chewed her lips, thinking of a lie, "My knees, yes.. my knees hurt. Ouch," she rubbed her knees, her face scrunching up. She prayed he believes her.Zachary's eyes fell on her knees and she shifted uncomfortably, then a knowing smirk formed at the edge of his pink lips."You're gonna pay one way or the other, Barbie."Olivia eyed him secretly, maybe she'll have to kick him in the balls just as Scarlett had advised."Can't we just get to today's lesson?" She asked meekly, batting her lashes together. When Zachary remained silent, fixing his ga
"Take my backpack to class, in five minutes," his magnetic deep voice sounded through the hall and loud gasps filled the air.No way!!! What's going on??The nerd is going to the private classroom of Zachary?!How lucky!I hate her!Irene, do something please. It was as if she was in a trance, cos she wasn't even hearing a bit of what they were saying. Olivia's mind was swirling instead, she should take his backpack to class? As what? Then his words flashed to her.Not only will you tutor me. Whenever I call or need you, you're to answer me in the next five minutes. Whatever I ask you to do, you obey without complaint. Any lateness from you... and you'll bear the consequences. She could still feel his eyes on herself, his hands on his pockets with that familiar smirk on his lips, "Your time is almost up."Olivia's face contorted in a tight frown, she wanted to throw the bag back to him and yell at his face not to boss her around. But who was she kidding? She'll end up regretting it.
"Now, I see," a deep voice sounded beside her...so close and she froze."What are you doing in my room nerd?" his voice boomed again, and Olivia spun around, bumping her face on his chest in the process."I'm.. I'm sorry I..." She stuttered, raising her brown eyes to meet his icy blue orbs that were intensely piercing into her. Zachary moved back a bit, a smirk playing on his lips as he tucked his hands in his sweatpants lazily, "The bed is soft right? Do you want to get fuçked on it, little nerd?" Olivia's mouth dried immediately and she stared at him wide-eyed, gulping, "What?"He scoffed, his eyes running over her body, "I can see that's what you want. But even if want me just like every other girl does, I'll never touch you.""Who said I want to have sex with you, jackass?" Olivia snarled, finding back her voice and moving away from the bed and far from him.He ignored her, and moved towards the side table next to his bed to pick up his phone. His hair fell across his face, givi
He scrutinized her for a second, then he blurted, his blue eyes locking with hers, "Tell me what happened that night." What night?" Olivia threw the question at him, puzzled. What was he talking about? He ran his fingers through his hair, ruffling it slightly, "Forget it and get the fuçk out." Then he walked back to the window.Olivia blinked twice, her feet rooted to the floor."Did I stutter?" He asked coldly, not sparing her a glance. She rolled her eyes before leaving his suite and walking out of the private classroom.Just then, Madeline came out of a corner, her eyes squinting. "What was Olivia doing in the private classroom?"12TH GRADE CLASSROOM~~When Olivia entered, Mr. Holden was inside already. The class was totally silent. There was this respect everyone gave him, despite being bratty."Why are you just coming in, Miss?" His eyes bored into her and she lowered her head."I'm sorry, Mr. Holden," she mumbled. She could hear the murmuring of the students, their gazes fixed
She could hear the sound of her own heart beating loudly. What did they want from her?"I...I have nothing to offer, please. I only have a few dollars if you want," she stammered, swallowing her own spit. The two men chuckled, as they approached her closely."That's where you're wrong. You have a lot to offer, pretty, besides your money," the drunken man slurred, eyeing her body up and down, licking his lips. Olivia shifted backwards, wrapping her arms around her body. The man at her back caught her in his arms and she gave a loud shriek, "Let me go! Someone help!!""Shit!" He cursed, and in a swift motion, his palms flew across her cheeks, "Shut the fuck up, bitch!"Olivia whimpered, stiffening. Her cheeks stung terribly, and tears began welling up in her eyes. This couldn't be happening to her. But when the drunken man leapt forward and ripped off the first three buttons of her shirt, Olivia began struggling to break free in earnest."Let me go, you jackass!!" She screamed, and ano
Olivia had a frown on her face as she entered into the private elevator, leading to the private classrooms. "That arrogant jerk!" She grumbled, her face squeezing up, "Who does he think he is?"She finally pushed the knob, and the soft gliding sound of the glassy door could be heard as she entered into the class. The private classroom was totally different from their normal classrooms. There were three black plush swiveling chairs, with laptops on their tables. It was incredibly spacious and exuded grandeur. Inside this same classroom, there were three separate relaxation suites for the boys. This was the first time Olivia had been in this place, and she couldn't deny the shiver she felt. Since the room was empty, she brought out her phone and dailed Zach's number."Come into through the first door, dummy," she heard his deep voice and scowled. She was here to tutor him. Who was the dummy between them?"Why did you choose me to be your tutor?" She asked immediately as she entered the
"Zachary Maverick."Olivia's mouth fell open, shock was an understatement to what she felt right now. She remained frozen for a few minutes. Zachary? Tutor? She's going to tutor him? Why would he pick her? Just to torment her? No way!"Is anything the problem Miss Collins?" The middle-aged man stared at her through his spectacles."Yes, Mr. Walter. I can't tutor Zachary," she stated, hoping to change his mind.Mr. Walter pinched the bridge of his nose, clearly irritated, "Why?""I...I just can't," she stuttered, trying to think of a perfect excuse."That'll be all for now. Like I said, his father appreciates it," he said dismissively, his tone leaving no room for argument. Olivia found herself leaving his office, her face blank with shock. This is ridiculous. She returned to the library, not wanting to go to class and face those bullies. Her mind wandered to Riley and a pang of hurt hit her chest. She couldn't deny she missed her, but it would be better if she stayed without company.
"My daughter?" Theodore asked, sarcasm dripping in his tone. "She's not, Amelia. She's not our daughter! If you want me to love her, then find my real daughter.!"
