Cassandra's POV:
Last night I had a relatively less nightmare filled sleep. And waking up in the same room I have been staying in during my childhood days wasn't as beautiful as you might think it is. Well most of my things are not in it but surely the bed and other furniture are at the same place as I left them.
It is bright here. I stretched my body inside the duvets and went out of the queen sized bed to head to the bathroom. I was wearing the pajamas my mother lent me last night and the material it's made from is soft as silk.
I went to the shower, brushed my teeth with the spare toothbrush my mother gave me and went out of the bedroom to head to the kitchen.
"Cassie? You woke up already?" It was my mother. She was sitting on the dining table with her coffee cup in her hand.
"Yeah, Good morning." I said and joined her at the dining table.
"Have you had a good sleep?" She asked again. This time putting her coffee cup on the table and shifting her whole body to my direction.
"Yes it was a good night's sleep." I said and then I went out of words to say next. What do you say to your mother whom you didn't see for the last ten years?
"Well that's good. We have a lot of catching up to do." She said smiling. How could she even form a smile this early in the morning?
She is right about the catching up though. We definitely need to catch up. Let me start with the relationship she has with Jaden for example.
"I need to get my clothes from the hotel today." I said to her and she nodded in agreement.
"You are right. Did you bring a car?"
"No, but I can can call Uber." I said but as I thought, she had other plans.
"Oh, of course not darling. I will give Jaden a quick text and tell him to drive you there." She said taking her mobile from the table.
"No, you really don't have to." I said. Hardly being able to contain the disgusted feeling I felt whenever he's around me.
"I do have to. He is so into you. And he would gladly drive you to the hotel." She said, covering her excited voice with her smile.
But I know just what she's trying to do. I have been keeping tabs on her ever since I joined the mafia. She is one of those people who sets up girls with men to get money. And I know by now she thinks I'm fool enough to be persuaded by her and fall in love with a boy like Jaden.
I know what her plans are. After I fall in love with Jaden, I'm supposed to do everything he tells me to do like a pup. And what comes after? She gets all the money I have and Jaden will set me up with hungry men who loathe over young girls' bodies.
"Ok then." I said. Behind me, I heard voices inside the kitchen. "Who's in there?" I asked my mother.
"Oh, she's our maid. Do you remember her? She's been staying with us for the longest time."
"Is it aunt Jane?" I was excited to see the only person I remember being nice to me since childhood.
"Oh! So you remember her." She smiled at me.
Oh don't even get me started with those sickening smiles that she always gives me.
"Breakfast is ready." Someone said from my side and I turned around to find an elderly woman who's wearing a maid uniform. She was just as I recall her.
"Aunt Jane?" I smiled at her eyes which were now glued on me as if she couldn't believe I was here.
"Cassie? My child is that you?" She asked in disbelief.
"Yes yes it is me." I stood from the chair I was sitting on and hugged the stunned lady standing beside me.
"Oh my child, it's really you." Her words came out muffled on my shoulder. I must have grown so much since she reached around my shoulder now because the last time I remember, I was the one in that position.
"Yes, aunt Jane. I'm so glad to see you're still here " I said and we broke our hug.
I felt eyes boring behind my head and I didn't need to turn around to know it was my mother who's staring at me. I got the cue though. She's not happy about my close friendship with aunt Jane.
"It's good that you are back, child." She said as she glanced towards my mother and she silently continued her work.
We ate breakfast in silence until the doorbell rang and aunt Jane went to open the door.
"It must be Jaden." The color was back on my mother's face once she saw his silhouette.
"Good morning ladies." He said as he came inside the living room.
"Good morning Jaden, come have a seat." She invited him but he rejected the offer saying he ate his breakfast. We didn't wait long until he asked me to go and we went out of the house heading to his car.
"After you, my lady." He said opening the passenger door for me and I smiled sweetly at him. He also smiled and closed the door behind me as I got in.
If only he knew how much I hated him. If only he knew what I plan to do with him.
"So, how was your night here?" He asked while swerving the car in the neighborhood, heading to the main street.
"It was nice. Thanks for calling my mother asking for me to stay."
"It was nothing." He said: his eyes on the road.
"What do you do for a living?" He asked out of the blue.
'I'm a mafia assassin.' I thought of saying but didn't voice it out.
"I'm a neurologist"
"Woah, that's good. You fix brains I see." He joked. It's not funny by any means but what can I say?
We reached the traffic light and stopped. "Your mother is planning on preparing you a welcoming ball by the way." He said facing me this time.
Ok I expected a party but a ball seems to fit my mother's tastes more. She wants to show me to her friends who would pay fortunes to have me in their beds. And this time she's playing big I see.
"That's not necessary though. I don't want her to spend so much on this." I said seemingly concerned for my mother.
"Don't worry it won't be that big." He said and looked out of his window.
"Hey Sasha!" He yelled out.
'What? Did he just say her name?'
My ears weren't fooling me right? - No, they definitely aren't fooling me because the next thing I know, the window of the next blue jeep beside us opened revealing a woman with red hair.
"Jaden? What are you doing this early in the morning?" She asked. She was wearing big sunglasses that covered most of her face and she was looking at me right now.
Oh no, not now Cassandra! I yelled back at the rage I felt seeing her clown face.
"And who's that beauty beside you?" She asked him.
"Oh this is Cassie. Sarah's daughter." He answered.
"She has a daughter?" Well that explains why she doesn't remember me. She didn't even know my mother had a daughter.
The green light was lit as he was about to answer and I couldn't be any thankful for it.
Today I saw one of the faces that haunted me in my sleep for ten freaking years. The rage I felt when I saw that red hair, the high pitched voice is unbearable.
"That's Sasha by the way. You know her?" Jaden asked while pulling me out of my deep thoughts.
"Yes, I went to the same highschool as you." I said slowly not wanting him to remember me suddenly but what he said next made me realize that his memory of me in highschool is non-existent.
"Really? You must be kidding me. Because I would have noticed this beauty from a mile away." He said looking at me with a serious face.
'It's true you stupid excuse of a human. I was even your girlfriend for a week.' I really want to spit on his light bearded face right at this moment.
"You flatter me so much." I smiled and turned to look out the window. He started the radio and a slow song started to fill the silence between us.
We were almost at the hotel when a question came to mind.
"When is my mother going to hold the ball?" I asked.
"Well, she said she would make it soon. Maybe in two days?" He said not to leave the sight of the road.
"Ok, that's short notice. I should go out shopping tomorrow then."
'Real smooth, dear mother. You are so afraid I will go soon that you want to tie me here with you as quickly as possible, huh?'
Sometimes the way her mind works amazes me. She is so wise it is hard to predict what her next move is. As much as I hate to compare her to anybody, I can't help but remember Tobias when I think about how wise she is.
I wonder how he took my escape? Is he angry at me? Is he chasing me? Or maybe he forgot me.
"We are here." Jaden said as he parked the car In front of the hotel entrance.
"I will be back quickly." I said opening the door of the car.
As I walked out of the car I caught a glimpse of his face for a fraction of seconds, saw that he had a glint of disappointment written on it. I can't believe this jerk wants me to invite me to my hotel room.
*Fast forward *
I was very wrong if I thought two days were long enough to get used to seeing a lot of people from my past. And I realized this in my glistening white dress and matching heels while standing at the entrance of the hotel where my welcoming ball was held.
*Cassandra's POV*Oh my goodness. This was bigger than I imagined it to be. The last two days, my mother was running up and down to prepare this ball and I can't even get started with the money. I for sure know this isn't my mother's money spent on a welcoming ball. Who am I kidding, she isn't this rich. I swerved my eyes on many faces from our neighborhood. Most of the people present here aren't people I know of. They are here as per my mother's invitation. "Cassie? Right?" Red hair, black eyes. Those are the only two things I need to see to identify her. Sasha. I did manage to control the rage I felt when I saw her today though. "Yes, you must be the outspoken Sasha?" I said giving her the same amount of bright face that she's giving me. She seemed to be pleased with the compliments as I saw her face get brighter if possible. "You are right. And you look so beautiful in that dress by the way." She said and we started to walk aimlessly at the pool of people. "Thank you so muc
Cassie's POV"Why are you here Tobias?" I asked, looking at his emerald eyes. I don't know why but seeing him without his lip piercing feels odd."I'm here for you, and you are telling me everything I need to know." He had some more determination in his eyes which is making me worry much about how long I could hide from him.I could feel him sneaking his warm hand around my waist and pulled me a little closer to his torso.I could feel his hard chest behind his shirt and couldn't help but close my eyes when he lowered his head to my neck. His breath was fanning on my ear and my breath hitched when he gave a featherly kiss above my earlobe."Tobias?" My voice came out more like a whisper and I could feel him smile beside my neck."You are so beautiful, Cassie." I could feel his chest vibrate when he spoke. What is he doing? He is my boss for God's sake. What are we doing here? But God why does it feel so right when I for sure know that it isn't.Is he trying to trick me into telling him
Third person's POV"Where are you going, Cassie?" Sarrah asked as she saw Cassie heading to the front door to leave."I am going to meet with some people." Cassie said and instead of the door, she went to her mother who was sitting on the wide sofa. She was drinking her morning coffee as usual."Mother, I wanted to ask you about something." She said looking at her mother and sat on the nearest sofa beside her."What is it, darling?" Sarrah put her cup on the table giving her full attention to her daughter. Something Cassie still found new. In the past, she never even glanced at her for more than two minutes."I want to know about how you met Tobias." She said what has been eating her mind the whole time. Her mother's relationship with Tobias is going to determine her next moves now."Oh darling, I was even going to talk to you about it when you return from wherever you were going to now." She said and her face changed to one of a serious one."As you know Cassie, all rich men are attr
Third person POV"Tobias? Why aren't we eating at the cafe?" Cassie asked as they wandered hand in hand into the busy street."No." He said curtly and kept on moving into the crowd.Cassie got confused as to why he got mad suddenly but decided to stay silent about it. "Do you like the waiter?" He asked suddenly.'What? Why is this even the point of our discussion?' Cassie thought. "Tobias, I only smiled at the kid and you're asking me if I like him?" "Well you never smiled at me like that. You need even-" He cut his words short and stopped by the biscuits selling cart."Good morning, sir. Which sweet do you like to eat this fine morning?" The elderly looking man asked Tobias. Tobias instead turned over to Cassie and asked. "Which one would you like?" Cassie on the other hand was very delighted by the smell of freshly baked sweets. She was looking at them from far away and thought about getting one someday. But thanks to Tobias, now she's having it. But the problem was, she doesn't
Cassie's POV:The best way to lie is telling half the truth. My mother taught me that but I am not proud to be using it on Tobias. Today he showed me that I mean something to him. I wish I never did. I wish I could just be his employee and that he would just kill me for running away but he forgave me. He never wants me to leave. I am a liar but I also am filled with rage, trauma and I know he won't judge me for what I'm going to do because he is just as tainted as me, if not even more. But why can't it be easy to tell? I just want to do this on my own. I don't want Tojas to see past me. My past self which was weak, foolish and ugly. I only want him to see this version of me. The strong, beautiful one.I am driving back to my house and currently I am looking at the man I got sick of, Jaden. He was talking with my mom in the freshly cut grass of our backyard. I hated the fact that the garage was in that place because if it wasn't I would have just saved my time and got to my room to
Third person's POVTobias sat down on a wooden chair beside Michael who's typing some codes in his computer."How is she?" Michael asked without looking up to see Tobias. He has been in and out of hell to find Cassie's whereabouts when she left. Tobias made him work for 48 hours without sleep until he fainted. He almost thought she was in danger when they found nothing about her. She joined their mafia over five years ago and still they didn't know much about her. Nothing could lead to her whereabouts until they received a mail from an unknown person in Tobias's private mailbox. It talked about her mother and her job, about Cassandra and her father. Small but detailed information. That's when Tobias decided they would fly across countries to find his beloved. But he didn't forget about the unknown person who sent him mail. Nobody knows about his private mailbox except some special people. But none of those special people had the idea of Cassie. Thus, he told Michael to find the pe
“Hey Cassie, welcome to the party!” Carolina was the one who opened the door and took Cassie away from Jaden's hand right when she set a foot in the house. It was that instant she pulled her to the crowded dance floor full of drunk people. Cassie scrunched her nose when the scent of alcohol filled her nose right after. She never liked this type of parties. She liked associating with people who are familiar, nice and sober. Not drunk spoiled grown- children.Unwillingly she started moving a little bit and Carolina on the other hand was wiggling her body like it didn't belong to her. It seems like the dance floor was her home.“Cassie, dance!” Carolina yelled through the loud music.“I am dancing though!”“Babe, that's not how you dance. Watch me!” she yelled again and started dancing sensually as if the latter wasn't energetic enough. The music was really helpful In gathering men around Carolina creating an opportunity for Cassie to escape from that dance floor. As she was trying to s

There was dark mist coming between the woods. This place has an eerie aura to it. A one that feels uneasy even for the darkness loving princess.‘What's with this place?’ She thought and continued walking to look at the outside of the mansion which looked like a king's castle. She slowed down and carefully turned her head to the side to see any possible threat but she saw nothing on her eye level so she turned back and kept walking forward while keeping her
Third Person's POV When Tobias reached the restaurant, he was welcomed with only the blonde devil and not his brunette angele. “Where is your daughter?” He didn't even greet nor did he go for the chair to sit around the table before he asked. Sarrah seems embarrassed about how she couldn't come with her daughter. “ She is on her way here, oh! Here she is.” She finished her sentence with excitement. Just then, he turned around to find Cassie walking in their direction. She was walking gracefully in the black tight fitted dress, which hugged her body in the most perfect places. Her hair tied up with elegance made her shine in the crowd. Tobias’ eyes followed the long slit on the side of the dress, leaving him wondering what was beyond. “Oh! Darling, you came right on time!” Sarrah squealed in happiness when Cassie arrived. She was mad at her for a moment because she was late, but at least she got the man drooling over her. “good evening, Mother.” Cassie said and nodded in
Third Person's POV It has been almost two weeks since Cassie and Tobias walked in this street, eating biscuits, and they also had some sweet memories, which he couldn't help but reminisce up on seeing the alleys. He has been concerned about Cassie’s safety ever since they came here, and assigning his men means calling his enemies to shift their attention to her. He wants to protect her from his world. But he is greedy when it comes to her. That's why no matter how he will never let her go even though he knows the only way he could protect her is by letting her go After driving for about five minutes, he reached the cafe where Cassie and he met. He went inside the cafe parking his car behind the building and sat in the same place where cassie sat when they first came here. He missed her. He missed her sweet scent and her blushing face. He missed her brown shining eyes, which draw him in every time he laid his eyes on them. But his thoughts were cut short when a female waitress came
Vicky is a very bright girl. Her parents were business tycoons, and she didn't have enough attention from them as they were very busy from work. Seeing that her granddaughter is not in good hands, her grandmother, Madame Susan, took her to her house near the town I live in. We were almost three years old when we met in preschool. She was the odd one from the crowd. She was quiet, and she always held her head down. I approached her, and we quickly became friends. She had gray eye color, and when people saw her eyes, they would stare at her too much. That's why she always hung her head low, but when she started getting familiar with the school, she warmed up to the community, and she started fitting in. Her grandmother loved me so much, and she used to give me shelter when nobody was at home but me. When I turned five, my father died. My mother was not fathomed by that incident and kept having boyfriends from time to time. In the middle of it all, she forgot I existed. And Madame Su
Cassie’s POV Leah is a very complicated girl. Even though most people don't give her the respect she deserves. I'm not saying that whatever she does is acceptable or respect worthy. But all of the important decisions are the product of her brilliant brain. Even though Carolina takes most of the credit. Sasha is the scheming devil. If any evil move has been made, believe it or not, sasha came up with it. The most important and a leverage I could hold on one of those bastards is the little secret relationship Jaden and Rachel have. As we all know, Jaden was Carolina's high school boyfriend, and Carolina doesn't like it when one of her minions picks up what she has thrown . I parked my car in an abandoned street where no camera could detect my car. I studied every corner of this town while I was back at the mafia, followed by burning every bit of paper I have of that town so that nobody could ever have an idea of where I might be. The possibility of Tobias knowing where I a
“Cassie dear, I was thinking about having dinner with some client tomorrow night.” Sarrah had a wine glass twirling between her fingers when Cassie reached the living room.“Good evening, mother.” Cassie said and walked deeper into the living room and sat on the sofa right in front of her mother Sarrah.“Who are you having dinner with?” Cassie asked.“Darling, he's a great guy. He has all the money in the world. You saw him on your welcome ball, Mr. Tobias Assante.” Sarrah unwrapped her legs finally when she said his full name.‘He also has all the enemy in the word, dear mother.’ Cassie thought to herself and smiled inwardly. Even Though her plan didn't involve Tobias when she first came here, by involving Tobias her plan has a greater chance of prospering than failing. Her mother would have paired her with some greedy man anyways. The fact that the greedy man according to her mother was Tobias; Which is safer.“Cassie, are you listening to me?” Sarrah asked again when she felt C
