Cassandra looked at her surroundings with a disgusted face. She came back to her hometown after ten years and it l looked just as she left it ten years ago. Clean.
Yes it was clean and luxurious looking but the people who live in it were as filthy. They are the most vicious and ruthless group of people she's ever met. No one would think like this about their hometown after ten years of absence but Cassandra, she has no good memory in this place to even say one good word about it. Her legs dragged her close to her childhood home. The place which she was supposed to seek protection from but failed miserably. Standing at the front door of the white enormous apartment, she pressed the doorbell and heard a small *ding* come across the house. She waited for the other person to open the door while skimming her eyes on the beautiful looking flowers beside her leg. They used to be her only friends. Flowers, they were beautiful, soft and innocent. Her thoughts about flowers were cut short when a beautiful lady with blonde hair and golden brown eyes opened the door. She was wearing a long, white dress which served as a second skin to the lady. She was looking at Cassandra with eyes that screamed shock. "Carla?" She voiced out with uncertainty. "It's Cassandra. Mother." Cassie said and smiled lightly. "Oh my Goodness, you look-" she stopped, giving her a head to toe glance and spoke. "Different." ""It has been a while." Cassandra spoke and smiled as if it was a mere ten minutes of her life. "Where have you been this whole time darling?" Sarrah, her mother for once in her life called her 'darling'. And Cassandra didn't like any of it. The way she said it gave away the fake care laced with her voice. Cassie knew her mother and came prepared wearing all the expensive looking clothes and jewelry, she was wearing a fancy blue knee-high dress that gave off an elegant look while putting white pedant necklaces around her neck. Her mother is a materialistic person and Cassandra knows every-bit of it. "Come inside darling." She said, opening the door wide and giving her the sweetest smile of all time. But to Cassie, it was no more like a fake welcome to the daughter who came back looking fancier than her mother. "This place hasn't changed." Cassie spoke glancing at the house attentively. "You are right. I didn't want to change the vibe your father left in this house by putting things differently." Hearing her mother say her father's name, she got the urge to slap her hard. But that would blow her whole plan. Thus instead, she smiled. "You are right." She smiled her sweet smile again and went further into the house while her mother followed her from behind. The walls were painted in cream white color while expensive pots and vases were put on every corner, the place was still very big and spacious. "Come, sit." Her mother offered her to sit on the cushion sofa and Cassie took that offer. Rubbing her hands on the tight fitted dress, Sarrah sat on the sofa near Cassie. "Darling, where have you been this whole time? I looked for you everywhere." 'Liar.' Cassie thoughts "I was abroad. I got scholarships to medical school in Europe and I thought why not take the opportunity?" She chuckled at the end of her sentence. "You are right darling. Are you a doctor now?" Sarrah asked. "Yes. " Cassie answered. "Do you have a family of your own?" Her mother inquired cautiously. "No, not yet." 'Good. You will have so many suitors standing on our doorstep asking for your hand now.' Sarrah thought silently and smiled. "Don't worry, with this beauty I'm sure it won't be hard to find a good one for you." She said, "What should I bring you? Coffee or tea?" She asked. Cassie felt awkward being offered tea or coffee from her mother in her childhood home. She never regarded it as a home but still, she lived most if her life in here and the strange feeling still lingered at the back of her head "Tea would be fine." Cassie answered and her mother said a quick' I'll be back' and went to the kitchen with her phone. Cassie stood up from her seat and Went to the wide glass door that leads to the backyard. She wanted to see what the place that haunted her for so many years looked like. But she stopped mid on her tracks when she heard her mother speaking with someone on the phone. She was speaking in a hushed tone and Cassie couldn't make out what her mother was saying. She instead went quietly to the kitchen door and listened to what her mother was talking. "Oh you should have seen her." She heard her mother speak when she got closer to the door. The door was opened slightly so she could make her mother's figure. " Of course you should come. Baby, you will love her. I bet she will make you dumb struck when you see her." She heard her mother say and smiled to herself. 'That was quick.' Cassie thought coldly. She knew her mother would set her up with some dirty people for money once she comes back but she didn't think it would be this fast. She didn't even stay for proper fifteen minutes here and what her mother thinks of is money again. It has always been money. "Now? That would be great." Cassie didn't need to hear more to know that the person her mother wants her to be with is coming soon. And she has been prepared for it. Quickly she went back to the sofa and stay there looking out the window just as if nothing happened and her mother went out of the kitchen with tray of cookies and two cups of tea. "I hope I didn't make you wait long." He mother smiled. Cassie wanted to say something but smiled instead thinking it would be wise to stay looking dumb in front of her mother. "Of course not." She said and straighten on her seat. Her mother spread the Trey on the table and gave Cassie a cup of tea. She also offered her some cookies and sat down with her. "So tell me, how come you never called me darling? And by the way you look so beautiful. I didn't know I had a beautiful daughter before." She said and laughed at her excuse of a joke. For the sake of acting, Cassie also laughed with her. "I was busy with all the work and you know how it is with young girls, we forget our past when we get in to a better place." She mimicked he mother's pitchy voice and her mother found it amusing. "So are you saying you are rich now? Got yourself a sugar?" He mother winked at her. Cassie was getting disgusted with every word that came out of her mother's mouth. "I mean what can I say, they are the quickest way of getting money.." Cassie played along and they stayed for a while talking about stupid stuff for a while until the doorbell rang. "Oh, seems like you're expecting someone?" Cassie asked as of she knew nothing about it. "Yes darling, before you came. It's better if you open it" Sarrah said but Cassie knew what she planned to do. "Alright." She smiled again and went to open the door. There a gorgeous black haired man with a gorgeous tanned body stood looking back at her with those beautiful blue eyes of his. He was wearing a loose fitten blue jeans with white shirt. "Hello." He smiled at her while his eyes were glued on her face. He looked stunned. She almost choked on her saliva, looking at the boy she's had crush on for the most of her highschool years. There he was standing looking at her like she was a lost gem he found on his way. Those blue eyes were haunting her in her dream every night of the past ten years making her sleepless. And now he's standing right Infront of her. "Hi" she breathed out. For others, it might appear as if she was stunned by his beauty or that she's charmed by his smile but deep in her mind: she was thinking about all those memories she had of him making her highschool life miserable. "Is Sarrah home?" He asked again giving her a flash of his popular charming smile. Hearing her name get mentioned, Sarrah went to the front door and opened the door wider. "Oh, hey Jaden." She smiled and gave him a quick hug. They looked close like mother and son for eyes of stranger. "Hey Sarrah. Who's this beauty here?" He asked getting in to the house while Cassie closed the door behind him. "You two should meet, this is Jaden. And this is Cassa-" "Cassie. You can call me Cassie." She said and extended her hand for a shake. He took her hand with his firm one and shook it well before planting a kiss on the back of her knuckles. "Nice to meet you Cassie." At the sight before her, Sarrah thought ' This is going to be one hell of a ride.'"It has been nice chatting with you, Cassie." Jaden spoke as he went out of the house without breaking his eyes from her enchanting brown eyes. "It has been nice talking to you too, Jaden," Cassie answered politely. They were currently walking side by side on the streets of the neighborhood which she used to live in."Are you going to stay at your mom's?" He asked again. To say he frankly liked the girl was an understatement. The way he has been staring at her for the most of their walk was evidence for it."I don't know. I came here planning on staying in a hotel but…" she stopped mid in her sentence. It's true that she never planned on staying in her former house but it seems like she would do much more while staying with her mother."You definitely should stay here. Your mother is happy while you're there. And I'd be happy if you were here." He stayed silent after saying that. "I don't want to be a burden to her. I mean I've been gone for ten years and suddenly I came without say
Cassandra's POV: Last night I had a relatively less nightmare filled sleep. And waking up in the same room I have been staying in during my childhood days wasn't as beautiful as you might think it is. Well most of my things are not in it but surely the bed and other furniture are at the same place as I left them. It is bright here. I stretched my body inside the duvets and went out of the queen sized bed to head to the bathroom. I was wearing the pajamas my mother lent me last night and the material it's made from is soft as silk. I went to the shower, brushed my teeth with the spare toothbrush my mother gave me and went out of the bedroom to head to the kitchen. "Cassie? You woke up already?" It was my mother. She was sitting on the dining table with her coffee cup in her hand. "Yeah, Good morning." I said and joined her at the dining table. "Have you had a good sleep?" She asked again. This time putting her coffee cup on the table and shifting her whole body to my direction.
*Cassandra's POV*Oh my goodness. This was bigger than I imagined it to be. The last two days, my mother was running up and down to prepare this ball and I can't even get started with the money. I for sure know this isn't my mother's money spent on a welcoming ball. Who am I kidding, she isn't this rich. I swerved my eyes on many faces from our neighborhood. Most of the people present here aren't people I know of. They are here as per my mother's invitation. "Cassie? Right?" Red hair, black eyes. Those are the only two things I need to see to identify her. Sasha. I did manage to control the rage I felt when I saw her today though. "Yes, you must be the outspoken Sasha?" I said giving her the same amount of bright face that she's giving me. She seemed to be pleased with the compliments as I saw her face get brighter if possible. "You are right. And you look so beautiful in that dress by the way." She said and we started to walk aimlessly at the pool of people. "Thank you so muc
Cassie's POV"Why are you here Tobias?" I asked, looking at his emerald eyes. I don't know why but seeing him without his lip piercing feels odd."I'm here for you, and you are telling me everything I need to know." He had some more determination in his eyes which is making me worry much about how long I could hide from him.I could feel him sneaking his warm hand around my waist and pulled me a little closer to his torso.I could feel his hard chest behind his shirt and couldn't help but close my eyes when he lowered his head to my neck. His breath was fanning on my ear and my breath hitched when he gave a featherly kiss above my earlobe."Tobias?" My voice came out more like a whisper and I could feel him smile beside my neck."You are so beautiful, Cassie." I could feel his chest vibrate when he spoke. What is he doing? He is my boss for God's sake. What are we doing here? But God why does it feel so right when I for sure know that it isn't.Is he trying to trick me into telling him
Third person's POV"Where are you going, Cassie?" Sarrah asked as she saw Cassie heading to the front door to leave."I am going to meet with some people." Cassie said and instead of the door, she went to her mother who was sitting on the wide sofa. She was drinking her morning coffee as usual."Mother, I wanted to ask you about something." She said looking at her mother and sat on the nearest sofa beside her."What is it, darling?" Sarrah put her cup on the table giving her full attention to her daughter. Something Cassie still found new. In the past, she never even glanced at her for more than two minutes."I want to know about how you met Tobias." She said what has been eating her mind the whole time. Her mother's relationship with Tobias is going to determine her next moves now."Oh darling, I was even going to talk to you about it when you return from wherever you were going to now." She said and her face changed to one of a serious one."As you know Cassie, all rich men are attr
Third person POV"Tobias? Why aren't we eating at the cafe?" Cassie asked as they wandered hand in hand into the busy street."No." He said curtly and kept on moving into the crowd.Cassie got confused as to why he got mad suddenly but decided to stay silent about it. "Do you like the waiter?" He asked suddenly.'What? Why is this even the point of our discussion?' Cassie thought. "Tobias, I only smiled at the kid and you're asking me if I like him?" "Well you never smiled at me like that. You need even-" He cut his words short and stopped by the biscuits selling cart."Good morning, sir. Which sweet do you like to eat this fine morning?" The elderly looking man asked Tobias. Tobias instead turned over to Cassie and asked. "Which one would you like?" Cassie on the other hand was very delighted by the smell of freshly baked sweets. She was looking at them from far away and thought about getting one someday. But thanks to Tobias, now she's having it. But the problem was, she doesn't
Cassie's POV:The best way to lie is telling half the truth. My mother taught me that but I am not proud to be using it on Tobias. Today he showed me that I mean something to him. I wish I never did. I wish I could just be his employee and that he would just kill me for running away but he forgave me. He never wants me to leave. I am a liar but I also am filled with rage, trauma and I know he won't judge me for what I'm going to do because he is just as tainted as me, if not even more. But why can't it be easy to tell? I just want to do this on my own. I don't want Tojas to see past me. My past self which was weak, foolish and ugly. I only want him to see this version of me. The strong, beautiful one.I am driving back to my house and currently I am looking at the man I got sick of, Jaden. He was talking with my mom in the freshly cut grass of our backyard. I hated the fact that the garage was in that place because if it wasn't I would have just saved my time and got to my room to
Third person's POVTobias sat down on a wooden chair beside Michael who's typing some codes in his computer."How is she?" Michael asked without looking up to see Tobias. He has been in and out of hell to find Cassie's whereabouts when she left. Tobias made him work for 48 hours without sleep until he fainted. He almost thought she was in danger when they found nothing about her. She joined their mafia over five years ago and still they didn't know much about her. Nothing could lead to her whereabouts until they received a mail from an unknown person in Tobias's private mailbox. It talked about her mother and her job, about Cassandra and her father. Small but detailed information. That's when Tobias decided they would fly across countries to find his beloved. But he didn't forget about the unknown person who sent him mail. Nobody knows about his private mailbox except some special people. But none of those special people had the idea of Cassie. Thus, he told Michael to find the pe
Third Person's POV When Tobias reached the restaurant, he was welcomed with only the blonde devil and not his brunette angele. “Where is your daughter?” He didn't even greet nor did he go for the chair to sit around the table before he asked. Sarrah seems embarrassed about how she couldn't come with her daughter. “ She is on her way here, oh! Here she is.” She finished her sentence with excitement. Just then, he turned around to find Cassie walking in their direction. She was walking gracefully in the black tight fitted dress, which hugged her body in the most perfect places. Her hair tied up with elegance made her shine in the crowd. Tobias’ eyes followed the long slit on the side of the dress, leaving him wondering what was beyond. “Oh! Darling, you came right on time!” Sarrah squealed in happiness when Cassie arrived. She was mad at her for a moment because she was late, but at least she got the man drooling over her. “good evening, Mother.” Cassie said and nodded in
Third Person's POV It has been almost two weeks since Cassie and Tobias walked in this street, eating biscuits, and they also had some sweet memories, which he couldn't help but reminisce up on seeing the alleys. He has been concerned about Cassie’s safety ever since they came here, and assigning his men means calling his enemies to shift their attention to her. He wants to protect her from his world. But he is greedy when it comes to her. That's why no matter how he will never let her go even though he knows the only way he could protect her is by letting her go After driving for about five minutes, he reached the cafe where Cassie and he met. He went inside the cafe parking his car behind the building and sat in the same place where cassie sat when they first came here. He missed her. He missed her sweet scent and her blushing face. He missed her brown shining eyes, which draw him in every time he laid his eyes on them. But his thoughts were cut short when a female waitress came
Vicky is a very bright girl. Her parents were business tycoons, and she didn't have enough attention from them as they were very busy from work. Seeing that her granddaughter is not in good hands, her grandmother, Madame Susan, took her to her house near the town I live in. We were almost three years old when we met in preschool. She was the odd one from the crowd. She was quiet, and she always held her head down. I approached her, and we quickly became friends. She had gray eye color, and when people saw her eyes, they would stare at her too much. That's why she always hung her head low, but when she started getting familiar with the school, she warmed up to the community, and she started fitting in. Her grandmother loved me so much, and she used to give me shelter when nobody was at home but me. When I turned five, my father died. My mother was not fathomed by that incident and kept having boyfriends from time to time. In the middle of it all, she forgot I existed. And Madame Su
Cassie’s POV Leah is a very complicated girl. Even though most people don't give her the respect she deserves. I'm not saying that whatever she does is acceptable or respect worthy. But all of the important decisions are the product of her brilliant brain. Even though Carolina takes most of the credit. Sasha is the scheming devil. If any evil move has been made, believe it or not, sasha came up with it. The most important and a leverage I could hold on one of those bastards is the little secret relationship Jaden and Rachel have. As we all know, Jaden was Carolina's high school boyfriend, and Carolina doesn't like it when one of her minions picks up what she has thrown . I parked my car in an abandoned street where no camera could detect my car. I studied every corner of this town while I was back at the mafia, followed by burning every bit of paper I have of that town so that nobody could ever have an idea of where I might be. The possibility of Tobias knowing where I a
“Cassie dear, I was thinking about having dinner with some client tomorrow night.” Sarrah had a wine glass twirling between her fingers when Cassie reached the living room.“Good evening, mother.” Cassie said and walked deeper into the living room and sat on the sofa right in front of her mother Sarrah.“Who are you having dinner with?” Cassie asked.“Darling, he's a great guy. He has all the money in the world. You saw him on your welcome ball, Mr. Tobias Assante.” Sarrah unwrapped her legs finally when she said his full name.‘He also has all the enemy in the word, dear mother.’ Cassie thought to herself and smiled inwardly. Even Though her plan didn't involve Tobias when she first came here, by involving Tobias her plan has a greater chance of prospering than failing. Her mother would have paired her with some greedy man anyways. The fact that the greedy man according to her mother was Tobias; Which is safer.“Cassie, are you listening to me?” Sarrah asked again when she felt C
Walking in the dark alleys of a gigantic mansion could Be something scary for some people, but Cassie is not one of those people. Darkness Is her meditation spot, a place where she could gather her thoughts and focus on her plans. The back side of the mansion has nothing but forest behind it and it looked spooky. There was dark mist coming between the woods. This place has an eerie aura to it. A one that feels uneasy even for the darkness loving princess.‘What's with this place?’ She thought and continued walking to look at the outside of the mansion which looked like a king's castle. She needs to get a hold on the layout of the building so that her plan works. Suddenly her spiked senses caught slightest movement behind her which caused her to shift her attention on something that was following her. She slowed down and carefully turned her head to the side to see any possible threat but she saw nothing on her eye level so she turned back and kept walking forward while keeping her
“Hey Cassie, welcome to the party!” Carolina was the one who opened the door and took Cassie away from Jaden's hand right when she set a foot in the house. It was that instant she pulled her to the crowded dance floor full of drunk people. Cassie scrunched her nose when the scent of alcohol filled her nose right after. She never liked this type of parties. She liked associating with people who are familiar, nice and sober. Not drunk spoiled grown- children.Unwillingly she started moving a little bit and Carolina on the other hand was wiggling her body like it didn't belong to her. It seems like the dance floor was her home.“Cassie, dance!” Carolina yelled through the loud music.“I am dancing though!”“Babe, that's not how you dance. Watch me!” she yelled again and started dancing sensually as if the latter wasn't energetic enough. The music was really helpful In gathering men around Carolina creating an opportunity for Cassie to escape from that dance floor. As she was trying to s
